I just read the entire Tau codex and I am VERY impressed. I think I'm gonna' start a Tau army now.

I like my XV88 Broadside Battlesuits. Railgun 10, strength AP 1, 72" Range and thier Twin Linked on the Broadside. They even have a 2+ save and witha shield generator a 4+ invunrable as well. I love my Broadsides. on problem with them is that they have a BS of 3...... so a 4+ or better to hit.......you only have a 50% chance of hitting...... ah well. thats why you have markerlights.
I have a question:
Ok, say you have markerlighted a unit for a broadside to shoot, the only problem is that there is a forest thats more than 6" think in the way for the broadside to have line of sight, can i still shoot since the markerlight targets the unit for the broadside?

Samulin I have a question: Ok, say you have markerlighted a unit for a broadside to shoot, the only problem is that there is a forest thats more than 6" think in the way for the broadside to have line of sight, can i still shoot since the markerlight targets the unit for the broadside? Not for the Broadside's railguns. If its got a Smart Missile System then you can because the SMS doesn't require line of sight (which is blocked by the woods).

Oh.... well, that makes no since. you go through all the hell to lock on with a markerlight and you still have to have line of sight through a forest..... dang. Thanks for replying.

I just played Tau because three reasons One I like there looks, two I like the Kroot, and Three they won a drawing between Wich Hunters, Demon Hunters, and Eldar.

DarkElf27 *sigh* why does everyone go to the most overpowered armies? Tau, Space Marines, Necrons.... Tau are overpowered? o_O I always get the impression from playing against them that they're not all that cracked up to what they ought to be. Don't get me wrong, use them right and they're powerful, but I wouldn't compare them to Space Marines or Necrons. 'crons and marines I view as an all around army, they have good armor saves, good weapons, work both in assault and shooting fairly decent. Tau are more shooty. You dodge enough fire and have enough guys left to assault, you can count them dead or at least no longer able to full-fill the mission objectives. Granted most of the time I've played against them the person playing them had terrible rolls and I was rolling good for some reason. So maybe I'm not getting the right impression. I still think they're good but not overpower.

But I always loose with mine anyway. Best basic weapon in the game, but I can never hit anything with them. Everyone keeps telling me to 'get more firewarriors'. Arg.

A new army! Gotta have it before anyone else does!' craze. I actually had money then too. Now it's just a backup army in case my Chaos Marines annoy me, or my friends.

Sure they have awsome guns, but a) they have a BS of 3, meaning they hit only half the time, instead of 2/3 of the time (like Necrons or Marines) and b) They suck in CC. I'd rather my Necron Warriors go CC then Tau Fire Warriors, at least they stand a chance against anyhting with disrupt fields. still, any weapon that can punch a hole through a monolith scares me *cough*railgun*cough*
