I play the French Horn and Mello in Marching Band.
Mellophones kick brass! (thats our section moto at my school)

I play the bass clarinet nand was just gonna say that i don't like the sound of french horns that much. hehehehe maybe this is the wrong place though sweatdrop

There was a french horn i used once that always used to have spit run out the bell for some reason, and it would get on my pants while I was playing. Icky. xd

I just hate the way valve oil smells and how the smell just stays on your hands! It really isn't cool if you get it on you RIGHT before lunch! Eww! But the stains are not fun at all!

iOggy Aryah awwe, oggy *pats his shoulder* I love the mouthpiece... and pretty much everything about it. Especially the sound! .... I was never able to stand playing by myself on trumpet, but on the french horn I can. *lol* But the mouthpiece is so SMALL! Plus, the mellophone's hell to march. Big flared bell... blaugh I freakin hate marching mellophones. Especially when people get mad at you for not watching the drum major or something. We get all butthurt about it and it's kinda fun! "Awwww I was wrong because I can't see." "I missed the set because I can't see...." Not to mention ours were craaaaaapppy so we blamed our playing problems on the mellophones. 'Twas good times!

lyssiah Does anybody eles ever get valve oil stains on their pants? crying HOLY CRAP YES. I got a chamois to fix it though. I ruined this awesome pair of navy pants with oil, though. That stuff is strong. Blue Juice isn't so bad, but Al Cass Fast or whatever... That stuff just won't go away.

lyssiah Does anybody eles ever get valve oil stains on their pants? crying Heck yeah, and some other stuff, too. I've ruined so many pairs of jeans that way. I also have a french horn that spills my own spit onto my hand because it drips out from the bell. Icky icky icky icky icky icky.

I don't march mellophone, but I have a friend in the mellophone section. She would say that she'd have to go to the box higher than most in order to see our drum major between the slides (my friend is only about 5' 2").
