Trombone player, right here ^.^ Used to play euphonium/baritone, but then the teacher and I decided it would be best if I were to play a lighter instrument. I personally think that he's right. Besides, now I can play jazz. Not to mention the faact that I'll be 1st trombone next year.

I'm the opposite: started on trombone and took up euphonium when I was 13. Damn, that seems like a long time ago. Oh wait, I'm 25 now, so it was! I even did tuba senior year for marching band. It was the year of the six tuba solo feature--or something like that. Some canned instant-pep/marching-bandish piece called "Tuba Tiger Rag." Oh well, even that genre has a purpose, I guess.

I've heard of that song! The Canadian Brass played it before!
Has anyone heard of Henry Fillmore, or T.K. Fillmore? He wrote all of these cool songs featuring trombones.

The name sounds familiar. I'm sure I've played a couple of his charts. Or maybe I'm thinking of Millard Fillmore (a politician?). There's another name that's stuck in my head, probably because it's weird!

The only ones I can currently think of are 'Slim Trombone', 'Lasses Trombone' and 'Miss Trombone' This guy wasn't really creative with his names, now was he?

See, I told you it was bad!

As much as I hate to admit to this. there's a lot more opportunities for trombone players. There's a lot more famous ones, too.
And, as a bonus, there's the much-overlooked fact that trombone is the least expensive entry into the low brass club. A good trombone costs as much as only one used car. A good tuba or euphonium is worth THREE!

Shizankoff Mello-phony Shizankoff Mello-phony Shizankoff Mello-phony So, I was a Mellophone/Hornist. Now I play baritone while marching. We're in conjunction with the sousas. We aren't marching bari saxes anymore ((they get killed out there)) so they went to sousa. It's an odd change. Eep! The only thing killing me is the weight. But, I'll live... Hehehhe, if you have any tips, please tell me! Wish me luck! were u kicked off the mello -sad- Didn't get kicked off, I quit. Last year, I was ignored by the Mellos, and the baritones "adopted" me. Now I'm one of them. lucky, ive been trying to switch to bariton cuz we have 4 tubas and 2 baritones, and im the only one in my section with preivious baritone experience, even tho that dosent matter lol. but my BD wouldent cuz 2 tubas are seniors this year then after that year if i switched it would be 3 baritones and 1 tuba and we dont want to bring anyone from concert band up becuase... concert band sucks XP Heh, if i didn't switch, there'd only be 3 Baritones and 10 Mellos. We got two tubas from Bari Sax. If i didn't switch, they'd take a trombone again, and like last year, it wouldn't work out. Our section is combined with the tubas at times, though. 10 mellos? we have 5, one in football. he does compotiotons. our hors and mellos..suck. and we have a mello demanding show this year. fun fun fun. But to stay ontopic i now saw we will be able to make up for it with our awsome lowbrass section. i was so happy on spring trip, we got a lowbrass award, and we were the only ones in the whole compotiotion to get it. > razz about every school got a percusion we also got dbl reed award, we deserved a clarinet and flute one, if i had a recording you'd know why, fantasy variations literaly killed them. Heh, we don't let football people in marching band. We're dorks! But, yeah, Baritone is Killing my arms! But, I'm a minority, only person to not play a low brass before! And, one of the only girls! But, I'm better than the other, they say i might get the solo!
