"... I guess you enjoyed them, huh?" Samantha forced a smile, as weary and worried as she was. "I'll bring some next time, too... " She soon resigned to curl up against a support pillar, watching Heidi enjoy her meal.

"... Karine told me... not to trust anyone. Any of Anei's followers, I mean... They seem to want to help, and seem more capable of things then Seijin and her ideals. I don't know what to believe. I just want this all to be over... But... More than that, I want to help you." Samantha was staring at her knees, and let out a sigh. "Well... not really 'help' I guess. That would imply there was something wrong with you... --What I mean is, I... I'm here for you, alright? I'm your friend, too. Don't forget that..."

---

Lucy frowned, then smiled sadly. She approached Maria on her bed and wrapped her arms around the girl's shoulders, pulling her close and into a loving embrace. "It'll be okay, I promise! Everything will be fine! And if not, I'll still love you anyway! No matter what..." She pecked Maria on the forehead. "Promise me you'll call if you need anything? I'm gonna help Sis unpack, so I'll be around..." After ensuring Maria was properly taken care of, she left quietly to let her rest.

She went a few doors down the hall and knocked on the door to her sister Heather's name. "Hey Sis, you in here yet? I wanted to talk to you... about stuff."

"I don't know and I don't care." Heidi stuffed the rest of that sandwich into her mouth, wiping her mouth on the back of her hand. "What does it matter? We can't be cured. We are all freaks bound to the stupid cards, and we were bound even before the cards existed. It doesn't matter who we side with, or what we think, we will do as the stupid cards want, wish you what you will."

Heidi looked at the last sandwich and pushed it back away from herself.

- - -

Maria allowed Lucy the attention enjoying it with a yawn. "I promise, Lucy, do what you need to do." And left alone. She took went about slipping into a set of pajamas.

Heather answered the door, unlike usual, in a tank top and a set of pajama shorts. "Lucille, come in." She moved aside to let her in,"What is the matter...?"

Samantha folded her arms, looking away from Heidi. "You're acting like a victim. Like nothing can be changed... Well, I refuse to believe that. If sacrifices must be made, then I'll be the one to make them for all of us. That's how freedom works, right?" She stood and collected the bag. "If no one tries to change the circumstances, then nothing will ever be accomplished. History is made by taking risks, by people willing to lose everything to gain a lot. Maybe it's foolish, but it's all I can believe in now. I understand if you won't support me, but for all this to change, something has to be done."

---

"Ah, thanks! ... (And it's Lucy!)" The blonde walked into her sister's room as directed, hands clasped behind her back. "I just... wanted to talk about Maria. She's been fine lately, really! She only ever tried to attack once, so... do you think she'll really be a problem? Do you think she's still dangerous?" Lucy looked around the room cautiously, uncertain. "I mean, I'm not afraid of her or anything, but... I don't want any harm to come to her, either. I won't let it, no matter what."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 09, 2014 9:32 pm

"Change? CHANGE. Ha. Do you even comprehend what that word encompasses? What it can ******** mean?!" Heidi did as if she was about to stand, but some muscle faltered in exhaustion. She fell onto all fours again. "You want CHANGE. Change is the problem. Its... Its going to fast. Happening at rates our bodies can't absorb and out minds can't comprehend. The cards are... Much stronger than our wills at times. All the people around us-" She bowed her head. Her sharp beastial nails scratching the floor towards herself. She looked up at Samantha, her glasses seemed to be gone.

" I am acting like the victim? Look where the ******** 'change' put me Samantha! I am in the discontinued basement of an academy whose honor roll I rule. And I am groveling here. Among broken desks, shattered chalkboard -! " She managed to stand now gesticulating to the room all around her. "If I am not a victim to circumstance then who is? Is it you, with your, ooooh so scary white hair and homocidal tendencies?!"

"You want change?" Heidi shook her head, arms falling to her sides defeatedly. She spoke in the saddest of tones with a matching smile. "What else could there be to change?"

--
Heather closed the door behind them. "Ah. Yes. You say she has been well behaved." The taller blonde walked further to the room, offering Lucy a seat in the single sofa chair or in her own bed. "I believe nothing is stable. While she is better, I think she can possibly relapse again. Like with any sort of patient. Usually its the relapsing that is more severe as well, and so you should be more careful yourself."

She took whatever seat Lucy didn't tying her hair up in a ponytail. "That being said, as long as you are there to support her... I think she will keep coming to her senses. Of course, I will be here to help."

Samantha balled up her fist, the other clenched around the sports bag. She didn't appreciate being yelled at, yet understood the reason for it. Sam had gotten off lucky, she supposed, compared to someone like the girl standing before her, who's changes had so drastically affected her mind and body.

She waited for Heidi to finish her speech. "I'm not going to waste time arguing this any more, Heidi. Maybe you're right, maybe I'm wrong. But you can't blame me for wanting to fix things, can you? You probably tried once, too." She went to collect up the empty container, leaving the last sandwich in Heidi's possession - after placing it in a plastic bag. Didn't want it going stale, after all. "I'll be back, alright? Whether you want me to or not... You need to keep eating." Samantha forced a smile, and jokingly added, "Maybe I'll bring you a chewtoy next time!"

---

"Even if she does, she can't really hurt me! And... I guess you either, I mean we're Celestials, right?" Lucy smiled brightly, "We'll be more than a match for her if she does go crazy again! But... Maria is strong! I think she'll really be okay." Sitting on the chair, Lucy looked down at her knees, legs swinging a bit. "I came to ask you that, because... I wasn't sure how you felt about her. Or... about us. But, if you'll really help, like you said... then I suppose you're okay with everything? Maria is a good person, even if she does act a little too serious at times... She's really soft, and loving..." Thinking of her lover, a warm smile found its way onto Lucy's lips.

"Don't patronize me more than Tabitha already does." Heidi looked very unamused. She watched Samantha collect her belongings. "Do as you want. I have quit on the matter. I am just the pet till this is resolved or someone else comes to steal me for their own purpose. " She looked toward the new clothes and dug out into her pants' pockets. The girl then handed them to Samantha. "Here you go. If you can... I would appreciate the extra clothes that fit me..."

"And... I should have spare glasses."

---

"To be honest, who you decide to be infatuated by or who you chose to love is completely your business Lucille," Heather sat down on the bed as her hair was finally tied," I trust your judgment maybe more than you do."

"If you love Maria as much as you say, then, I will gladly help both of you, because I am still your older sister. I will always be here to help and make sure you don't get in trouble." The older blonde smiled at her.

A little surprised, Samantha took the torn clothes and stufed them into the sports bag. She gave Heidi a small smile and nodded, "Sure. I'll bring more clothes with me when I come back. Please take care of yourself." With that, she turned and headed for the ladder once more. The feeling of leaving her friend behind did not sit well with her, but she reasoned that there was little more she could do for her at the moment. It was probably better to give Heidi her space.

Sam made it to the top of the ladder and slowly, soundlessly pushed it open. She had hoped that nobody had awoken in the time she spent down in the basement. She eased herself out of the hole and gently closed the trapdoor, before taking a cautious look around. Nobody seemed to be awakeor otherwise present, so she gave a small sigh of relief. She should probably head home and shower; it had been a long day. Samantha exited the room...

---

Lucy blushed softly, looking at the ground. "Th... thanks, Sis. I was afraid that you might not approve, or... maybe not like Maria." Lucy slid off the couch and went to give her sister a big hug. "If she goes nuts again, I could definitely use your help! ... Oh, that reminds me. If you were given cards like me... do you think Maria's siblings might have gotten them too? She has a younger sister, and an older brother. Do you think it's possible...?"

As Samantha exited the room someone was hurrying her way. They were not precisely going her way, per say, they just happened to be hurrying to the exit of the building. The student wore a knit hat and her mildly streaked hair had bangs that fell to her face. She had a jacket on, like those used for sports with no hood, and what looked like pajama bottoms. To her chest was clutched a book.

When she saw Samantha, she stopped staring. The black covered book had weird glyphs over its cover and the tired looking teen blinked at the white haired girl. Maybe thinking back Samantha would remember that the one acting like a criminal of sorts with the book emanating weird vibes was the exchange student who had not had a line in over twenty pages of this story!

- - -

"Ah perhaps!" Heather responded, resting where she sat. "It would be nice to have another pair of siblings to prove that theory, but we have no way of knowing do we? Additionally, if we both happen to be celestials then that would mean they would be a family of tengu."

"I find that highly concerning, so try to not go to their house till we know they are not in possession of cards," The nurse said, "For your safety, you must understand."

Samantha had just finished closing the door to the "hidden" room when she heard the footsteps of another from behind her. Expecting the worst, she spun on her heel, prepared to either run or perhaps dodge an attack. Thankfully neither seemed necessary when she realized that it was just another student, that is, until she caught sight of the girl's slightly distressed appearance and the ominous black book that she carried.

The snowy-haired girl clutched the sports bag to her shoulder and took a few cautious steps toward the student. "Ah... hey. What're you doing out so late?" Well, that was a stupid question, Sam. The same could also be asked of you! "Um... Are you alright?" She raised an eyebrow and tried to take a closer look at the book. "... The Library's closed, y'know... if you've got a late return."

---

"Well... I guess you're right. I'm kinda worried about Ruby though, she's one of my friends!" Lucy said, tapping her chin. "And I think her brother has some sort of disability...? I don't think I've ever actually seen him. But, if you really don't want me to go, then I won't... Maybe Maria can tell us more about her siblings when she's feeling better? She'd know better than anyone if they were acting strangely!" With that, she yawned widely, and sunk a little bit into Heather's chair.

"AH-!" The other student's first reaction to stop dead on her tracks. She clutches the book tightly to her chest. Kayla had never been a good liar, "I- It... Just got late-- I was studying with someone- You know how time flies---!" she laughed ever so awkwardly, but she stopped. Her nose picked up a smell. Looking confused, she looked to the side, the moon light seeping through and shining on Sammy's white hair.

She blinked and looked at Samantha,"Have you... Been hanging out with dogs...?"

---
"It's time for bed sister," Heather smiled as she stood dismissing their prior talk. "we can worry of these matters once we have had some rest," the older Magdalene walked over to help her sister up,"I am sure you need some good sleep after such a long month or so."

"I will walk you to your room, unless you want to spend the night here."

"Dogs...? --NO!" Samantha exclaimed, a little more loudly than she wanted. Realizing where the girl was looking, she slowly reached to draw up her hood, tucking her hair neatly under it. "I mean... no. Dogs aren't allowed in school, duh." She looked to the side just as awkwardly. Avoiding a confrontation was probably the best idea in this situation, but... something about that book gave her very bad vibes. Just being within eyesight of the object made her feel uneasy.

"Y'know, we should go back to our rooms..." She said, as casually as she could. "It's late, we shouldn't be caught outside or we'll get in trouble. ... I won't tell if you won't." Sam cracked the smallest of smiles to the girl. "My name's Samantha, by the way... what's yours?" If she could learn the girl's name, she'd have a better chance of tracking her down later.

---

Lucy nodded sleepily, and stood with Heather's help. She stretched this way and that, scratching the back of her head. When posed with the question, she smiled to her sister softly. "Can I sleep in here...? I'm not scared or anything, it's just... Well, you've been gone a really long time. I missed you." With that, she wrapped her arms around Heather's shoulders and gave the older teen a big hug. "I'm glad you're back, Sis..."

"D...deal. But I need to do something before I go to my room-" She responded," My... My name is Kayla. Nice to, uh, meet you Samantha." The other girl kept her eyes low, like a scared dog, "I can't go back to my room yet-"

"I have to-... Do this-"

--
Heather could only smile softly. "Of course you can sleep here," she returned the gesture, before letting go and patting Lucy along to her bed. She went to get another pillow from the closet and brought that back,"We should do our best to rest now, before the day starts again."

Heather sat down at the side of the bed, waiting for Lucy to get comfortable before tucking herself in along with her sister.

"Do... something?" Samantha blinked, looking at the student, then at the book again. "What exactly do you have to do, Kayla? Whatever it is... if you have to do it this late at night, it probably can't be legal." She let out a sigh. Well, there went her plans to take a nice shower. "... Look. Just tell me, and... and I'll help you, or something. Admittedly, you look a little... scared."

---

"Alright... thanks, Sis." Lucy yawned again as she moved onto the opposite side of the bed, allowing plenty of room for her sister. She took the pillow from her and set it at the head of the bed, slipping under the covers and laying down. She let Heather tuck her in and, once her sister had gotten comfy, Lucy clung to her body for warmth, much in the same way she had when they were children.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 05, 2014 8:57 pm

"Well, its... its not illegal- This is my- someone's book-" Kayla looked from side to side then to Samantha, hugging the book close to her chest. 'I... need to hide this book- I will bury it in the baseball field, and then she will never find it-" The girl tried to walk past Samantha. "I need to bury this. Now."

---
Heather wrapped her arm around Lucy. She made sure her sister was nice and warm before she herself relaxed into the bed to rest.
