"I'm sure she'll be here soon," Feng replied with a grin,
Ryu was less impressed but that was because he was looking behind Andarien, "In fact she's going to pounce you from behind."
Naida was and pouted when her uncle gave her away but she was going to try and pounce Andarien anyways.

Andarien squealed and instinctively ducked into a crouch and put his hands over his head to try to prevent the anticipated pounce.
Earendil laughed and put one arm out to catch Naida before she could land on Andarien. "Easy, easy, he's still pretty weak from his growth," he chided his niece.

"Awww...." Naida pouted and yet smiled all the same, "Okay!"
Instead she bent over and ruffled Andarien's hair instead. Just because she could, with him crouched down and all.

Andarien blushed, but he grinned up at Naida and straightened up again. "Thanks," he murmured.
Just then the front door opened and Kyrie stepped out. The afternoon sun caught on the red and gold of her tattoo as she raised one hand to her brow to look out the door.
"Dinner's about ready," she called, "come on in."
She was about to go back inside when she did a double take and looked back at the group again. Surprised was etched on her face, and she had to blink a few times before she was sure of what she was seeing. "Is that Andarien?" she asked, closing the door behind her and stepping outside.

"Yup!" Naida grinned from ear to ear, "He's gotten big now!"
She glanced over at Kyrie, and despite the fact the woman had a lot of scars, it didn't actually bother Naida to the point where she had to ask where they came from. Scars were the result of getting hurt, Triton had some, Halmir had some and so did his wife, and some other people she knew. So logic dictated that Kyrie must have gotten hurt a lot sometime during her life.
Naida was also raised after all the chaos that happened to the Winters Family and never took part anything dangerous that occurred in the Four Lands. So it never occurred to her that a lot of scars could be mean something other than being hurt.
So it was no surprise that instead, she focused on the flashest scar of them all, "Neat tattoo, how long did that take to do?"

"Tattoo?" Kyrie blinked at Naida for a moment before realizing that Naida was even really talking to her, and then she laughed softly. "Ah, right. Of course. Sorry. Um, the tattoo itself took five weeks, the infection afterwards lasted eight days. Definitely an experience I'm not planning on repeating."
She ran two fingers over her tattoo, grinning to herself as if at some private joke.
Earendil meanwhile was ushering the others towards the house so that they could go in for dinner.

"Well after five weeks, one would be enough," Naida admitted.
Besides that tattoo took up most of her torso.
Feng, taking a clue from Earendil ushered her daughter towards the house, and it was Lin who opened the door.
"Come on, we can talk more inside," Lin told them all.

"I'm sure most tattoos wouldn't have taken so long," Kyrie admitted, "or been as susceptible to infection. But sometimes, when you have enough reason to do something, or to want something specific ... sometimes the time and the risk are worth it."
She smiled and winked at Naida. "Besides, I had a fantastic doctor to take care of me."
Once they were inside, Lara greeted everyone and ushered them to the dining room, where a second table had been set up to accommodate for the larger number of people.

There was something in that wink that Naida didn't get. That was okay though, as she was distracted by Lara who was greeting them, and gave her own cheery greeting back.
"Thank you for having us," Feng smiled as she greeted Lara.

"But of course," Lara smiled back widely. "Please do make yourselves comfortable. Dinner's ready and on the tables. Sit where you'd like, we're not fancy here."
She looked past them all to Earendil. "Are Corazin and Andarien not coming today after all, then?" she asked anxiously.
Andarien grinned and raised one hand sheepishly. "Um ... I'm right here ..."
Lara's eyes flickered to the boy (now a young man, really) and her jaw dropped. "No -- I ... Andarien? Really?"
Andarien giggled and ran his fingers through his hair. "Yeah ... I grew last night."

Miyuki mused thoughtfully, "I'm pretty sure Corazin will be coming...."
Since Andarien was here and Andarien did say it was a day off today. It didn't occur to her how much of a shock Andarien's growth would be to some people because no one was ever surprised about the fact she grew, only surprised (in an excited sort of way) that she grew.

"Well, if he's not here soon," Lara said with a shrug and a smile, "his food might be cold. We can't keep waiting." She ushered everyone into their seats, and Cantor joined them from upstairs. ~~~~~ A few weeks later, the weather warmed up quite a bit, and while for the most part the beach remained much the same during the week, on the last day of the week more people began to show up, most of them young. It seemed that swimming was a popular pastime for the people of the city. It also meant that Naida's friends, Aysu and Ta'neer, were spending more time there as well. Dwr joined them occasionally, though on this particular day he had yet to show up. The identical twins were looking for Naida, walking along the beach.

Naida had planted herself along the shore close enough to allow the incoming waves to lap over her tail. She was just enjoying the view, and surveying the shells she had found. Thinking about which to keep to make into something and which to send back to the ocean to be new homes for other critters that might use them.

The twins spotted Naida at the same time, and they grinned at each other and moved to sneak up behind the mer. Their steps were silent, and since Naida was looking into the sunrise there was no worry about their shadows falling over her.
"Gotcha!" they both shouted, each of them pouncing on either of Naida's shoulders.

Naida squealed and leaned forward as the two pounced on her. She laughed at all the same though, after all she pounced just as much as she got pounced on.
"Hey!" she laughed some more, "Here to swim again? Or something else?"
Since it tended to be on her mind a lot.
