Still in that neutral manner that betrayed nothing that was going on with her she said. "Well if your sure I can't imagine it would be as exciting as a business party or event The hunt maybe you should just stay at the party and I'll just find something else I can do by myself." she said not looking at him as she began eating. "And besides why would I be bothered about you going it does sound awfully important and I am not going to stand in the way of that." then she was silent as she picked at her meal she felt so horrible inside she didn't know what to do she had felt something earlier but the minute that woman showed up she pushed it away and let it drown in her own personally misery she would cry later she had cried enough in front of Devon anyway

Devon set down cut throw his steak more furiously. What would it take to get her to believe that he would follow her anywhere. That no place was better than at her side. "I'm going." he said simply. "And if you try to back out, I'll drag toy with me on the run. I'm sure you'd fit on my back." he smirked

Lark shock her her the tears finally coming. "You wouldn't do that and that's not the point your missing the whole entire point Devon and I don't want to be the jealous girlfriend but I can't help it and it hurts so much and the fact that your not getting it makes it worst. Your going to a party with another woman who I know is going to be all over you and you didn't even ask me your girlfriend to see if I wanted to go I mean sure I don't won't know any of the people there and it would be a drag for me but still why her why not me I thought you loved but why would you do this to me." she sobbed out before getting up and going to the bothroom

Devon listened in shock until she jumped up and left him to go to the restroom. At least she hadn't left. He probably deserved that. He ran a hand over his face and sighed. "Devon you idiot." he growled.
What was that comment about Robin being all over him? He never thought of it that way. Not really. She wasn't his type at all. But at he thought about it her forward manner, the pushy invitation. No wonder Lark got the wrong idea. He hadn't really thought out his answer. And he would need to take care of this with Robin. She hadn't acted so brash before. Not since....
Not since Lark came around.
Devon wanted to hit himself. Had he thought this would all turn out right from the start? That she would EVER be okay with him going with another woman. If she had a date with some guy, he'd want to tear the man's throat out. He had to find a way to make this right. And before they left. Thought he didn't expect her to forgive so quickly.
He looked to make sure she wasn't back yet. He pulled out his cell and called Robin. He was too angry with himself to make small talk, so once he answered he was all business and very short. "Meet me tonight at ten at the office. I have some things to discuss." he said neutrally and hung up. He new she would be there.
Devon stood and made his way to the rest room to wait outside the door. He asked a passing waiter to put their food in bags. He wasn't so hungry anymore and he doubts she was.

Unfortunately Lark never went to the bathroom at the last minute she decided to just leave entirely she was so heartbroken that she didn't care about where she was going she just had to get away before she knew it she was in the woods with a strong wind blowing a storm in she sobbed once feeling a squeeze in her chest and began running for all she was worth she didn't even look where she was going because her tears blinded her she just ran and ran as the storm was just getting started. How could he do this to her? What made him think something like this was ok? Why did she feel this way why was she was in so much pain she knew Devon was too good to be true she let him hold her heart in the palm of his hand and crushed it how could she have been so stupid he didn't love her at all and she had set her self up for more pain which was the last blow her heart could take she could see herself now in her mind's eyes as the Lark in the cage which was left in the cold and darkness the cage had finally crushed her and the darkness had made her heart stop when that image went away it felt like her heart bust and she feel to the forest floor and sobbed curling into a ball and she didn't even see the large shadow that was moving closer to her as the storm broke and she was miles away from the diner by now.

Devon waited impatiently from what seemed too long. He took a deep breath and tried to be patient. And realized he didn't smell Lark. There was no scent leading into the bathroom. He cursed and ran out of the restaurant. He didn't care about the people's stares or the waiter that shouted after him. It was only Lark that occupied his thoughts.
He knew she was upset. With her fragile mind set she was probably wandering and not caring were she was going. To say he was worried would be an understatement. He was panicking.
He leapt in his car and slammed it into reverse, tires squealing as it left the lot. It moments he was cruising down the road with the phone in her ear.
"She's gone." he stated when Fredrick picked up.
"What do you mean?" was the instant reply.
"I hurt her. I was thoughtless. I didn't mean to.. I---"
"Physically?"
"No!" he snapped. "You know I would never hit her. Robin was pestering me to go to a party. Before I realize it..."
"You accepted going with her." Fredrick finished. "You imbecile. I've seen her Dev. It doesn't take a genius to see that's she's been through a lot. I know I told you to be careful."
Devon sighed. "I know. And I shouldn't have slipped. I got cocky when things were going well. I need to find her before something happens. And I'm going to fire Robin. She'd been pushing her limits anyway."
"About time." he heard Fredrick mutter. "So you want me to send out a few people?"
"Just Sheryl and Bo. She knows them. And I don't trust any males to help me right now. You, Scott and Ben keep the others from hunting tonight. I think I know where she'd gone. I just hope I'm right."
"Okay. Boss. She's good for you. Don't mess this up. I thought Alphas weren't allowed to do that anyway."
Devon wasn't in the mood for jokes. He hung up. He'd made it to the woods anyway. He immediately shifted once he got out of the car. He needed to find her quickly.
Thunder peeled overhead as the rain began to pour.

Soon enough Lark was laying in the mud she slowly picked her she up and stood sniffing with tears still rolling down her face she looked around and it didn't take her long to figure out she was lost not that it mattered to her in fact nothing mattered maybe a bear or something like that would find her and she can die and everyone else would be better off He would have the woman of her dreams and not ever have to worry about her anymore and her mother couldn't hate her anymore and finally live out the life she always wanted everybody would win all she had to do was just disappear which she was in the process of doing she started moving deeper in the forest with her arms wrapped around herself and her wet and muddy hair in her face she heard howling in distance so far out it was drowned out by the rain she had to move deeper so they wouldn't find her she didn't want to see him anymore she walked ever deeper in to a forest that reflected how she felt on the in side heartbroken, cold and empty

CURSE THIS RAIN!!!! Devon thought to himself. Water, water and more water. The more it rained the less change they'd find her. He heard Sheryl's howl. Then Bo's. Nothing. Not a track not a scent. He howled himself. Not a signal just a cry. He hoped that Lark would heard it.
He was going crazy. She could get sick, she could be lost, she could be eaten by a bear. Or a cougar. Or a coyote. He whined and continued forward. He had to find her. He would search every inch of this place.

Fredrick arrived at the top floor of Lander LLC. Knowing Robin, she would be up there. She was an over achiever. Especially since she set her eyes on Devon. She'd found out about them years ago, and wanted to be a part of them. Or rule over them. But she still didn't understand. It didn't work that way.
Devon was still new to both running this business and leading. He could handle it and in time be as great as his father. Fredrick was sure that Lark would be a part of that. She could teach him a bit more tolerance and tact. But right now, she was too busy with everything, including finding out about Lark, to even pay attention to the way Robin acted.
No one in the pack liked her. But no one saw her as a threat either. Dislike wasn't enough to fire her. Luckily, she'd been making mistakes.
There, she was leaning against Devon's desk when he stepped into the office. She looked up with a sweet smile. It disappeared as soon as she saw it was not her boss.
"Oh. What are you doing here? This is a private office." she she calmly, business-like.
"Well, your boss is my best friend, so don't worry yourself. I come with a message anyway."
"Oh. Well, leave a message and I'm sure Vince or Devon can get back to you." she smiled.
"No. no. This is for you. He is a little busy with more important matters. So he asked me to tell you. You are fired." He smiled, mimicking her smile.
Robin looked as if she'd been slapped. "You are lying."
"Nope. If you don't believe me, take it up with Devon. But I don't think he'll be safe to be around until Lark is found."
Robin froze and Fredrick got the feeling he'd made a slip. Something flickered in her eyes. Then it was gone. However, he was sure of what he saw. Rage? He narrowed his eyes at her. He'd have some of the pack watch her.
"Have a good night, Robin." With that, he left.

The storm worsted and the temperature dropped dangerously low but Lark didn't notice she was moving through the trees like a broken hear ted ghost she only looked up when the howling started again two of the howls faded out but they were closer this time not close enough to make her worry but they were just as deep in the woods now she jogged blindly ahead putting more distance between her and the wolves why couldn't he have let her go and leave her be why did she have to follow that howling that night she could have avoided all of this heart ache and got on with her life without ever knowing this pain one howl kept sound and it was a cry and she knew it was him and that only made her move faster in the trees she would not follow that dangerously beautiful sound ever again and she did not want to be found by him she wanted to die at least in death it wouldn't hurt anymore please just go away and take this pain with you she cried inside her head she only stopped moving when she began coughing good maybe she would die from sickness and the everything would just stop and fade away

Robin watched Fredrick go. A few minutes passed before she moved. When she did she slammed down her fist on the desk.
"That brat!" she screeches. Everything had been going perfectly. She'd had Devon attention. In time he would have come around and seen what a perfect woman she was for him. She would do anything for him after all. but ever since that girl showed up she'd heard whispers among Devon's wolves that he had found someone. Then he missed several days of work.
He could have had him. She could have been treated like a queen by the werewolves. But no. That girl had to come into the picture. She had to do something about this. That girl was going to suffer.

Devon was going in circles. Where was she? She was going to get sick. he was already soaked to the bone. He didn't care though. Not that he was soaked. Not that it was pitch black. Not that there was no sign of her. Only his growing fear and need to find her. If only he could rewind the night. Take it back. Or beg her for forgiveness.
Miserably he patted forward. Then there was something. Something lighter than the darkness. He looked, moving closer. It took familiar shape. He shifted and started running on two legs. He found her!
"Lark!" he cried with relief. He knelt before her and pulled her too him. "Lark. I'm so sorry. Lark?" His heart sunk as he looked her over. She was burning up and his fear flared again. "Oh please no."

Lark had finally collapsed and all she could do now was lay there and wait for the death that so longed for she gave on last sob before she went silent it was a while before she heard something in the trees something big she hoped it was a bear and that it would have mercy on her and kill her it had been some time since she heard the wolves maybe they had finally given up she hoped they did but then again that though only hurt her more then she heard him of all people coming out of the bush and calling her name before kneeling beside her and pulling her into strong furry arms he was the last person on earth she wanted to see and she didn't have anything to say to him after all that had happened the only thing he could say was that he was sorry what did he have to be sorry for he had only made her see the truth about who she was and that was the fact she was a nothing and then he had taken her heart and crushed it the only thing her hollow form felt now was sorrow and anger why couldn't he just leave her alone and let her die in peace couldn't she have that why did he have to ruin everything. "Let.Me.Go!!!" she shouted and began to violently struggle against him she wanted to run again she didn't want to be here with him and listen to more of his lies. "You stupid stupid dog let me go why can't you just leave me alone and let me die already I want to die let me go I hate you I hate you!!!" She was screaming at him as she sobbed again and her illness was hitting her hard causing her to cough and shake even though she thought it was her anger her vision was getting fuzz and her head felt just as strange. "You monster let me go!!" she shouted once more before her body finally gave out

Devon stood stunned. Every word she said was like she was stabbing him in the chest. He took it, only because he was too shock to respond. Then she passed out.
He stood, feeling as if a hole just opened beneath his feet. He deserved it though. She was sick again, worse then last time. She was in pain. He had caused this. This was his fault, because he hadn't thought of her in his occupation with that woman Robin. So he deserved her hate. She could think he was a monster. After she was well, he won't darken her door, or force her to do anything. She could go to her home and take whatever she wanted. But he could not let her die. Never. He didn't think he could bare that.
Devon walked out of the forest, trying to protect her from the rain as much as possible. He didn't even notice when the others joined him. All he wanted was to get Lark home.

Lark just laid in Devon's arms still and un moving like a broken doll the cage had finally crushed her and she felt dead inside she didn't even want to live anymore she just wanted a death without pain she couldn't bare it anymore her fever spiked higher than ever and she didn't even notice that Devon was holding her in his arms and she couldn't hear the voice whispering around her all she could hear was the rain inside and outside of her.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 05, 2012 10:33 pm

Days passed with her burning with fever. She had pnemonia. The doctor said it was possible that she could die from it in her already weakened state. He stayed by her side threw it whenever he could. He knew he could ignore his duties, but his friends helped lighten the load as much as possible. When he wasn't working he was sitting by her side. He murmured apologizes. Explained what happened. Explained that Robin was gone. Told her that he would never ever hurt her again. Sometimes he just talked about normal things. Most of this he knew she wouldn't hear. She was either asleep or so fevered he wouldn't understand. Twice did her fever climb so hid he was afraid she wouldn't survive. It was those time that he just begged her not to die.

As this time passed, many were uneasy. The company was doing well and so far and things were peaceful with the weres. Devon was throwing himself at the work when he had too, being very dedicated and patient. Really he was doing anything to distract himself when away from her side. But anyone could see the dark circles under his eyes and the lack of appetite.

Finally, to his relief her fever broke again. And so far it hadn't returned. He waited anxiously as hours past. He prayed it wouldn't return.

Lark groaned as she finally woke up her vision was in a blur and her head felt funny she could hear sounds of someone muttering it didn't take long to figure out where she was and she wasn't dead as she had hoped because the pain was still there she turned away with a moan not wanting to face him
PostPosted: Fri Oct 05, 2012 11:02 pm

Devon saw she was awake and sighed with relief. He sat back down from his pacing and stared at her back. He felt the words he said so many times come to his lips. He wanted to say them and needed to. It was... different knowing she could hear. An unconscious person didn't reject you.
He closed his eyes and waited. Finally he spoke.
"I know you don't want to talk to me and you don't have to. I'm sorry. So sorry. I deserve to be hit by a truck for doing what I did to you. You can hate me if you want but I just want you to know that I love you. More than anyone. And I would never look at another woman like I do you. I fired Robin. I'm not going to the CEO party. And if you wish me to leave you alone then that's fine. I'll stay any." he explained in a rush. He felt if he stopped he wouldn't say it all. "Stay here until you are strong enough to leave. But if you want to leave and go home I won't stop you. YOu can do whatever you want. I just want you to be happy."
Silence prevailed as he finished. He waited.

Lark let out a very heavy sigh on the verge of tears as she listened to yet more of his lies and they made an even bigger hole in her empty chest where her heart once lived. " And again you have missed the point I can never be happy again I would have been at peace dying then here listening to more lies. Is this a game to you some thing wolves do they pretend to love someone and then cast them aside for someone better or are you incapable of that emotion entirely or could it be that you never loved me at all I wish you would have let me die it would have been better for the both of us and your new girlfriend you killed the bird Devon and it can't be brought back my mother was right I am a nothing and no one will ever love me so you can come out of your sheep's clothing wolf and just finish me off because my life no longer has any meaning at all."
