Yae tried to relax while she regained her energy. It wasn't exactly easy for her, sitting there when she had work to do. Through her nose she took deep, slow breaths. She would have preferred to use her mouth at this particular moment, but the tape made that impossible. Why had Ko-sensei insisted on taping over their mouths? It didn't serve any purpose as far as Yae could tell. All it did was prevent cooperation.
Is this what the academy wants? A bunch of ninja that can't coordinate? She took another deep breath, trying to let the angry questions subside..

Saura touched the irritated skin where the tape had been and set everything on the desk next to her bento box. Glancing at Yae, she noticed that she was slowly but surely getting everything done. Inechi had already left it seemed, so only a handful of people were here. Looking at everyone, she added her two cents in hopes that they would be able to hurry and get their lessons finished.
"If you have problems reaching the rope, for me I found it helpful to create a chakra barrier on your arms or in the knots itself and reduce the friction so you have an easier time getting them down so your hands could reach, or pull the rope out of an especially tight knot." she told them, not entirely sure if this had helped them any.
To Yae, she turned to her and reminded her of their promise to eat lunch together. "Eto... Yae, I realize that you're probably going to take a while until you finish your Nawanuke no jutsu training, so I'm just going to take a stroll around the Academy. When you're done, look for me, and we can eat our bento together, alright?" Turning around, Sakura went ahead and opened the rest of the doors and let the breeze drift in and make it less stuffier. She felt a little bad for them because she couldn't do anything to help, but refrained from touching any of their knots since this was something that they had to do by themselves. Yae had also said that she preferred to do things herself so Yuki figured she wouldn't take very well to anyone else helping. Glancing at her bento one last time, she quietly bid everyone good luck and shut the classroom door behind her.
Now what to do....
+1 to everyone currently practicing the Nawanuke no jutsu!

Her eyes snapped open; she lost the image of the knot. Deciding to make the best of the distraction, she listened to Sakura-san's advice. It actually sort of made sense, so she would have to try it once she mustered up enough energy.
Yae shook her head, wanting nothing more than to refuse Sakurayuki's overly-kind offer (though the other girl didn't seem to notice her refusal). Sure she had agreed to eat lunch together, but she had only done so to seem friendly. She really didn't care if the other girl went ahead and ate before her, apart from the fact that watching would be a bit painful. In fact the proposition annoyed Yae, a feeling she expressed with an outward nasal huff as she watched the girl leave. Now she felt pressured to hurry so that Sakura-san could eat too.

'Maybe I depleted my chakra too much. I should be more careful next time,' Yuki reminded herself as the ache in her head dissapated a little. Now that Yuki was free, she pondered upon what the next course of action should be. Maybe she would go find Amaya and see what she was doing. After all, she and that stranger-who-didn't-seem-like-a-stranger should have finished eating by now. Looking around, she wandered around the Academy, going through different empty classrooms wthout a particular destination. Soon enough however, her feet took her to the courtyard where Amaya was. There was someone guiding Amaya as she threw her shuriken, and Sakura started to walk up to them, before she took a closer look at the black haired man with the large chakra signal. He sure looked familiar, she thought as she stayed in place behind the doors to the training field. Where had she seen him....? (Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone please ignore that dice roll. "I found it helpful to create a chakra barrier on your arms or in the knots itself and reduce the friction so you have an easier time getting them down"
Yae reflected on Sakurayuki's words for a few moments. She had trouble explaining chakra use to others, so it made sense that she had an equal amount of trouble understanding an explanation from someone else. Still, she thought she knew what Sakura-san had meant. Her chakra seeped up her arm, managing its way between her skin and the rope and reducing the friction. At first it didn't seem to do much good. Then Yae realized one way this would be helpful. She hadn't been mapping the underside of the knot. She had passed that detail of as something unnecessary, but now it was apparent that there were mild details she had overlooked.

With Sakura's advice Yae was now able to imagine the knots with a much more accurate degree of detail. She closed her eyes again, concentrating, looking for something that would be revealed by the underside of the rope. She noticed something. The rope seemed to be less tense at one end, as if the knot was looser on that end. With her chakra she pulled at the loop closest to the apparent weak point. Sure enough the knot gave way, the binds loosening around her arm as rope slid smoothly past rope. Yae was glad Sakurayuki had distracted her now, since she had given her insight that would continue to prove useful throughout the training.

Of course. He was Akeru Uchiha, the very same person whom she had seen pass by the streets of the Uchiha compound every day. He was rumored to have chosen the path of eseinin because he couldn't pass the rite of passage for the lack of affinity to Fire, although she firmly believed otherwise. He was an amazing shinobi in his own right, and his skills were unparalleled compared to others in the same path, and was also the Head of Konoha's hospital to prove it. He was only second on her list of role models next only to the Godaime herself.
She had always glanced his way when he passed by her house in the Compund, but he probably had never noticed her as she was just another unimportant person to him. It seemed that Amaya-san and Akeru-sama were having a good time together, and Sakura faltered. Would it be disrupting their dynamics if she went over right now? As much as she looked up to him, she was just a stranger to him for all she knew. If they hadn't noticed her yet, she could silently slip away, but this was a Jōnin. Sakura didn't know much, but figured that he had probably sensed her by now. Still standing behind the door, embarrassed, Yuki fingered her hair and wondered what to do.

Yae could wiggle her arms about considerably now. She leaned forward, experimenting with how she could manipulate her wrist. At first the fabric rubbed against her skin, giving her forearm a mild case of rug burn. Remembering Sakura's advice, she used her chakra as a barrier, making things considerably less painful. She could just barely feel one of the knots, though she had no idea which position it was in. Overzealous, her finger ended up getting caught in a loop, holding her wrist in a less-than-comfortable position. A number of angry comments were absorbed by the tape over her mouth before she finally managed to free herself. This sucks almost as much as jogging...

A low groan echoed behind the tape. Yae's wrist and index finger both ached, a result of the flailing movement she had used to free herself from the loop. She wasn't sure the extent of the damage; the pain had thankfully started subsiding. If she was badly injured she would be in a terrible position, since she couldn't really call for help.
Gee, thanks Ko-sensei... She was liking the instructor less and less by the minute. I can't wait to give you my opinion on this training.
Yae silently fumed now, angry thoughts racing through her mind. By the time she had gotten over it the pain was already gone. She let out a sigh or relief, vowing to leave knot manipulation to her chakra, at least until she had more freedom of movement.

Just because water conforms does not mean it is any lesser an element. Akeru naturally slipped into a quieter role watching the girl practice. Without a sound, he moved back on the field but did not take a seat on the bench, finding it more comfortable to lean his weight against the old oak. There was always something comforting about the crisp scent of wood. A sweetness, with a lingering trace of spice that was made all the sharper by the spring breeze. Usually, he would just close his eyes then and simply enjoy the weather, but he kept an attentive watch over Amaya-chan's handling of projectiles, ready to make corrections if necessary even though he surmised well that she had the fundamental knowledge of how to handle the shuriken.
With her throw this time, it was easy to see that she was distracted by something. Not the result of where the shuriken landed - that was pleasing enough - but she probably thought too deeply of something else which took her mind off the task at hand. He looked on silently, wondering if he should say something, but it was rude to pry. And so he does not. Besides, Amaya-chan should discover quickly enough it was easier to handle shuriken by falling in line with the laws of nature. If there was a mode of comparison, shuriken was to the shinobi as dancing were to civilians. Until the children learned how to handle projectiles as if they were breathing, it would be almost unlikely not to slightly jar a throw.
The faint presence of another's chakra...
His golden eyes flickered towards the way of the entrance. The passing breeze, which carried a sakura blossom from a tree outside the Academy, brushed lightly past his cheek.
That child...
"If bocchama would give his blessing to this child..."
An inane gesture, that they do for mere tradition, now that the head of family was dead. He knows what they say behind his back anyways. Failure. Anomaly. Dancing along the borderline of what defined the family.
"You are..." He began.
Even though the words were quiet, the hushed spring wind carried them.
He does not remember the name, but he knows that face.

The child took Akeru’s silence and his change in location as a good thing. Since the girl was kitting her marks well with the shuriken, it was natural that there wouldn’t be much criticism to voice. It was comforting to know that the teen was becoming more comfortable around her and that he could relax in her presence. While that may not have seemed like a big step for some, it was a massive step for an introvert; whose world Amaya was personally acquainted with. The gently breezy softly played with the child’s hair as she stood ready for her next attempt. Feeling the smooth metal beneath the pads of her fingers, the Keiji withdrew yet another shuriken from her pouch. This one would mark the half way point for the throwing stars as she still had one kunai left on her side of the training field. Once more the child took her target into sight, now comfortable with the grip on the shuriken, and gave the circular flying weapon a sharp toss towards her practice dummy. Watching the curvature, Amaya gave her motionless opponent a satisfied smile as the blades sunk into the heart of the wooden target. It was quite obvious that she was more adept with the shuriken as opposed to the kunai, which would probably become nothing more than a close range hand held weapon for her.
Initially, Amaya had turned to give Akeru a smile, but as she did, her attention being drawn away from her practice, the girl picked up on a familiar chakra sitting nearby. The black hair child’s eyes snapped over to the door to be met by the well known gaze of her teammate. It wasn’t a surprise that Akeru had picked up on Sakura well before Amaya did; aside from being well above her level, the child had also been engrossed in her own proceedings. Even though his head was turn away from her, Amaya picked up on his address to the pink haired girl and Amaya decided to let her introduce herself; though she did spare a wave and a smile towards her companion.
There was a few things running through the girl’s mind at the time. Would she get in trouble for participating in unauthorized training? No, they couldn’t get her in trouble. Not only was it an extra credit assignment, but she was also under the supervision of a jonin; someone who was of even higher rank than her sensei. Did Akeru and Sakura know each other? It looked as though the man had recognized Amaya’s classmate and it didn’t seem like Sakura was unaccustomed to him either. It actually appeared as though she looked at him with great admiration. However, there was one question that actually hurt Amaya as it swept across her mind: would she have to stop her training exercise now because there were multiple people? It wasn’t so much that she was hurt by Sakura’s presence, but she didn’t want to cease her training for any reason. Part of it was her bubbling excitement about being at the Academy, but there was also the other part where she wanted to learn under Akeru and make him proud of her. Though their teacher and student dynamic had bloomed quite suddenly, it was deep in the girl’s heart that she wanted to be the kind of student that Akeru could look upon without embarrassment. After all, he had gone so far out as to say that he wanted her as a student; not that he hoped she was assigned to him. However, even as this all spiraled through the girl’s head, her smile and the glimmer in her eyes never gave away what was really going on behind the bright black orbs.

Just because water conforms does not mean it is any lesser an element. He lowered his eyes, the curve of long black lashes gently touching pale cheeks. It seemed a cold thing to do, his next action, but with an almost faint tall-tale nod he looked away from the pink-haired girl and back again at where Amaya-chan stood. Just as he had expected, Amaya-chan had also noticed the arrival of a classmate.
A faint smile touched his lips.
He straightened his form, and leaving the oak behind, lightly trotted down to the training dummy where he had hurled the kunai before. Long fingers slipped gracefully through the handling ring, and though he made the movement seem easy, the force of the pull freed the kuani from the wood and yet the control of the gesture rendered any unwanted further movement indiscernible.
He turned on his heel, and as he made his way back, he stopped long enough to address Amaya-chan, his words but a quiet whisper:
"Go on."
He also went on, and approached the new girl.
The look in his golden eyes was strange.
"...'s daughter...?"
The distance and his quiet tone made overhearing difficult.

The boy walked gracefully along the side of the road, trying his best to contain his excitement. His big day had finally come, all the years of dreaming of his first day in class, were about to come true! Now only if his other dream was this easy. Takami turned the corner, and walked along the market square, seeing the school in the horizon.
In a few more minute, the young ninja stood at the front doors of the academy, working up the courage to go in. Was it going to be all he expected? Or would the boy be sadly disappointed? Taking a deep breath, the student placed his hand on the door and pushed forward, following behind his hand. Looking up at the classroom numbers, he quickly spotted the room he was in, walking in slowly. He looked around, seeing a few other students had already arrived, leading him to believe he was late. That was impossible, his mom would never let him leave so late. He walked up to the teacher, and bowed slowly, into a half bow. "Greetings Sir," Takami said politely, "What should I start on?"

Amaya’s focus was shifted from her classmate when Akeru’s movement caught her eye. The child watched curiously as he strode across the training yard to the dummy that she was currently using. Was he inspecting her work? With would be an odd time to choose to do that. However, once the young man freed his kunai with a gentle grace, Amaya became even more confused. It wasn’t like he was in need of the kunai at that very moment. If he was suddenly short on weapons he could materialize them from thin air. She had watched him do that after all. When he came back, it was evident what he was doing. Akeru wasn’t the kind of person to waste energy if it could be helped, or so Amaya imagined he wouldn’t. She listened closely as he paused since he spoke so quietly. Did he not want Sakura to hear him sending her to continue her training? How odd. ”Hai.” The girl nodded her head gently at her instructions, though she knew that he probably figured the child understood his instructions already.
The young child spared the pink haired girl another smile before she turned back to the task at hand. That wooden dummy always had the same ridiculous look on its face, but that really couldn’t be helped. It had helped that Amaya sunk a shuriken into it; that made it look much better. While the child very much enjoyed her own silliness, she also knew that training was a time to be serious – especially when handling weapons of any kind, though projectiles seemed to mandate extra attention. As she had a few times before, the girl withdrew a shuriken from her side pouch, still relishing the feel of the metal against her fingertips, so that she could continue on with her training. Holding the throwing star as she had before, the girl allowed the weapon to sail across the training yard in its stylized arc. However, this time it fell farther than she had intended and sank into the belly of the wooden dummy. The shot still had power behind it and buried itself nicely into the wood, but it wasn’t the location that she had hoped for. Then again, her beginner’s luck could very well be wearing off or it could be that she was still distracted by Sakura’s presence. Maybe her confidence had wavered without Akeru’s watchful eyes to guide and correct her. While the girl didn’t know what the issue could have been, she was just happy that her shot was still successful and that she could say that a clean hit to the stomach was her bad hit. At least she hadn’t missed the target yet, that was a bit of a relief.

The third knot was tied in a simple fashion, similar to the first. However, it was tied much tighter, and would certainly prove more difficult to disassemble. Yae retracted her chakra, resting for a moment while she tried to remember every detail. But she quickly forgot, and had to once again probe at the rope. Not seeing any way to tackle the thing, she shifted her forearms violently, hoping to shake the knot into a different position in some way. Overall the efforts made the rope tighter around her arms, but when she tested the rope with her energy she found that the knot appeared looser, at least to some small degree.
