Madison's head jerked up as she finished with Wilson, her eyes dilating slightly as she realized that there was still one corpse walking. One brightly colored corpse. One corpse with rainbows that had nothing to do with rot or blood or bile and why hadn't she taken one last cookie when she had the chance?!

The trainee was up, drawing her second sword in an instant, one foot pushing her off the sand as she drove at what was once Julie with a shriek of rage. "Let her go, you bastards," she snarled, bringing both blades around in a brutal sideswipe that cleaved at Ju- the cor- its side.

Wash got up, giving Before a nod of thanks.

Then he looked at what was left of their brave little reckless division assistant.

He picked up his shield, closed his eyes, and slammed out with it blindly.

It made a sickening crunch as it connected.

This felt wrong. Eva wasn't sure if she had ever hesitated attacking anyone as much as now, nor had she ever felt as much guilt and self-disgust as she did when she swung her weapon out to strike the...the...Eva wasn't even sure what to call her. It? It still looked like Julie, but it was obvious that it wasn't her. Not anymore, anyways.

While she had never personally been close to Julie, it was just that fact that she had once been one of them and that they had been unable to save her that stung the most. Maybe if some of them had stayed back, or...

But it was too late to dwell on that now.

When Ali finished bandaging Rep he looked towards Julie and then Harrison. "Thriteen are you okay? We gotta.... save her." He said nodding towards Julie. Save her, that was the better term.

"Can... you stand?" He offered his hand to the hunter. He might've been scrawny but he wanted to help Harrison.

They were supposed to attack Julie now? Before wasn't sure what to feel at this news. So he opted not to feel anything at all. Sorry, Bix, your earlier heart-to-heart in the resting tents has to be set aside for this moment. But when Wash went to strike out at his former (was it really former?) division leader, the Misty followed after halfheartedly. It was evident in his missed swing that he wasn't really up for hitting Julie.

Pathetic, silly Before.

Sasha couldn't bring herself to attack. Would she have done Julie a bit of kindness in assisting with her demise? Probably. No, assuredly.

Even still, Sasha couldn't bring herself to attack.

It was a horrible sight, really. Julie was ripped to shreds; the light in her eyes had dimmed - it was a sight that was all too familiar to the trainee. The same light had gone missing in her own papa's eyes.

Biting back a sob, Sasha forced herself to watch while the other hunters made their attacks. She edged further away, fighting the urge to break down completely. This wasn't the time, this wasn't the place, this wasn't supposed to happen like this.

If only she could keep the harsh reality of the situation at bay just a little longer. Just a moment to regroup, that's all she needed.

Jerry wobbled on his feet, the distant look in his eyes as for a moment everyone relaxed.

There was still a colorful, blood-soaked form through his sandblasted glasses. He exhaled sharply.

She's dead.

It's not who you think it is... not anymore.

He glanced down to Harrison one more time, his expression twisting anxiously.

Just aim and fire and ignore his trembling hands...

At the last minute, though, he aimed up, staggering backwards to sit, hugging his weapon to his chest.

Just breath, just breath. He had hit when it counted, just breath.

Harrison got a searching intent look, Rep wasn't about to leave him to pass out again and wanted to make sure he was all right. He wasn't a moon or a life hunter though and the best he could rely on to tell was gut instinct.

He didn't actually let go of the man's sleeve, still wary of him keeling over.

"Don't apologise. Just focus. We need focus here mate."

As Aleister came to bandage him up, he just held still and let him for a change, his usual angry prideful shpeil on hold. This was a mission, anyone patching him up was welcome, even if he was starting to feel like the bandages were all that were holding him together. He guessed this was what it meant to be a sun.

And then it was time to end it. Julie was all that remained. He glanced over and frowned.

Again he seized Harrison with both shoulders, deadly serious as he stated.

"Do yourself a favour mate. Don't watch this bit. Don't remember her like this."

And with that, he turned to face her himself. He'd been living this nightmare too long, it was time to put a stop to it.

She's not the person I saw, not the one I knew. Just empty. The last thing I can do for my comrades, my friends. Is allow them to be defiled no longer.

His hand shook.

He swung out. He couldn't do it. He was too weak.

Ami remained kneeling by Wilson, not really sure what to do with herself. She could probably hit Julie if she had too. Ami grimaced at the fact that she should even have to MAKE that decision. This was her leader. She couldn't just ... but she looked like she was suffering.

Dear God this was horrible.

Ami busied herself by continuing to wrap Wilson. Just focus on the bandages. The bandages dammit.

He curiously looked at Madison as she came over with a pair of bandages. “What? No. I’m still fine you don’t have to—“ It was too late. She had already busted them out on Wilson. He pursed his lips together, silently standing as she attempted to patch him up. His eyes were directed away from the bandages that fell to the floor. Wilson barely looked toward Ami as she joined in with her own roll of bandages. Instead, he threw them both fleeting smiles. “Thank you. Much better.”

Then he spotted the figure at the entrance. He narrowed his eyes. Julie. How…? Wilson moved to pick up his weapon, but then sighed and stepped back. No. He couldn’t do it. He couldn’t bring himself to hit Julie.

The bugs were gone finally. Deryk was still breathing heavily as he was still very much scared here. But it didn't seem like things were done yet. Julie was still here... well. Her body was still here standing. But he didn't think that it was really her at this point anymore. He didn't get it though. Her weapon was still summoned.

Didn't hunter weapons become tablets upon death?

It all didn't make sense. Those were definitely bugs that bled out of her earlier, as if she was some sort of sack filled with them.

"G-guys wait. Weapon is still out. Supposed to be t-tablet? Wh-what if she's still alive?"

She was just standing there too. Not attacking anyone...

Ennéa had froze when the bugs appeared and swarmed about the tent. It was a nightmare, a nightmare. It was happening again. Had she ever been truly awake? She moaned low in her throat and huddled off to the side, forgotten in the chaos.

But she couldn't ignore the cries of her fellow hunters. Even with her ears covered and her eyes squeezed closed, she could hear the fight going on around her.

This was real, she couldn't escape it.

And really, did she want to make that mistake again? So many broken promises...

Ennéa forced herself up. Her hands were shaking but she forced herself to summon Baraz too. She held her axe in a white-knuckled grip and charged at Julie. She would keep her promise this time.

Too bad she flinched at the swarming bugs, causing her swing to go wide and she totally missed.
