Kressen smile at their compliments and ate his food. It was just as always, and he was already nearly done. He blinked in surprise at hearing Alex's dream. She want to find Arceus? Wow, this kid dreams really big. A ten year old was searching for a literal god to fix her problems. That was a bit saddening and unnerving to Kressen.

What could have happened to her that she wants to find a god to change it? He didn't feel it was his place to pry nor comment on her dream. He really didn't even know what to say about her dream. He turned his attention to Hayley interested in what the older girl had to say.

What he got was another somewhat sad tale. Kressen was an only child so he didn't know the pain or joy of having a sibling. He still felt bad for her though, because you didn't need to have a sibling to know how much it would suck to be separated from them. "Well, I hope you find him Hayley." He finished the las of his meal off with a sigh of contentment. "Yea Lou knows how to cook. Gou we're ready for the check."

He pulled out his wallet as Gou made his way over. He handed over the right amount plus a generous tip. ""Tell Lou thanks Gou." The Machamp gave the red head a pat on the shoulder and headed back into the kitchen. "You know what we should do tell help us all on our journey? A Pokemon battle." Gigas perked up from his prone position after scarfing all his food in a matter of moments. He danced about a bit at the thought of having his first battle. "What do ya say, wanna show me how it's done. This will be our first battle."

[Magma-Time Line]

Kilik let out a heavy sigh of relief. Everything was over. It was finally all over. What seemed like a complete nightmare was finally coming to an end. Everyone was hugging on Mike, who was visibly weak from everything he had to endure over the past few hours. As the boy began to walk forward, suddenly a few shadows shot up from the ground, taking human form. He clenched his fist, unsure of what to expect. They all looked like Milo; solid black with nothing but white eyes and mouths, completely devoid of any actual features. They were...thanking them? And thanking Mike? Kilik dropped his guard, glancing over at the now unconscious Portabello and smiled a bit. "Not much left now but to clean up," Kilik said, stretching a little bit. Mike attempted to start moving, and before anyone could catch him, hit the ground. "Now what do we d--" he was cut off as Kasiya suddenly took charge. As she explained to him the task, Kilik listened intently. He was certainly capable of doing something as simple as dropping off a criminal to a jail cell.

Nitro and Sirrus entered the room and were met with Bahamut. "Winona," Kilik smiled, "Take charge of Bahamut. I'll have to hang on to Maxie," he laughed a little, "make sure he doesn't go flying off mid-trip to Rustboro." He scooped up Maxie and grunted a bit, slinging the man over his shoulder, arm wrapped around his legs. "Rustboro does have the largest jail facility in Hoenn." He stumbled a little and had to have Bahamut aid him in getting on. Once Winona was on board, Bahamut took off through the new skylight in the side of the volcano, headed west to Rustboro. Luckily, the flight there from Fallarbor was an incredibly short ride. Kilik could barely handle flying when he had both arms free to hold on; now that he was preoccupied with hanging on to Maxie, things were a little more frightening.

"Whaddya say we just dump him on their doorstep?" Kilik asked as they began to land. "Granted, I'm sure they'd like an explanation on how a Gym Leader and some random trainer got hold of one of the most wanted men in Hoenn." The tall boy slid off of his dragon, nearly falling beneath his and Maxie's weight. He was tired, that was for sure. "Ladies first," Kilik said, bowing a little bit out of the way for Winona to enter the jail before him.

"At the rate you're going?" Kilik laughed, leaning back against his Flygon's back and closing his eyes. "I'd say you'll get there in no time! Especially that guy," he pointed over at Genki. "He's got a lot of energy. I'm impressed. Your Pokemon are certainly wonderful, Katie." He ran a hand through his hair and stretched his long legs a little bit. He tapped Bahamut on her wing, which made her lift it up a little to shade her trainer from the sun. This small clearing that Kilik and Katie seemed to make their own personal clubhouse was pretty nice. It seemed fairly out of the way for most trainers and didn't obtrude the path whatsoever.

The Flygon let out a little yawn and closed her eyes while she stood, her tail moving somewhat absentmindedly. She could tell, easily, that there was some kind of tension between the two trainers and she let out a light little chuckle, arching her back. She felt Kilik slide down somewhat, lifting her tail up to stop him just as he was next to Katie.

"Hey wha--" Kilik opened one of his eyes, seeing the orange haired girl first and foremost. He felt his face grow hot and he sat up, looking back to see he was certainly not where he had decided to relax. "B-Bahamut! You..." he jumped off the dragon's tail and just as he was about to scold her, he heard what sounded like Pokemon attacking. "Hm?" The boy started to look around, and very close to them was a girl being attacked by a very large flock of Starly. She looked like she was in a lot of pain, and was clutching a Pokemon close to her. "Hero time," Kilik said plainly, putting two fingers in his mouth and whistling.

Cable looked up and nodded, taking the two small Pokemon off of his shoulders before trudging over to Kilik. The trainer nodded over at the flock of birds, and Cable immediately knew what to do. "Electivirrre..." he growled lowly, stomping forward slowly before starting to run.

"Discharge!"

Electivire jumped in, holding his hands over his head as a makeshift shield. The attacks from the Starly were pitiful in comparison to what he'd recently been through. Cable hopped up into the air and burst into a sphere of lightning, streaks of electricity flying through the sky. Some branches from nearby trees were shot clean off. And just like that, each and every Starly that didn't instantly faint took off like Zubats out of hell. Cable hit the ground with an impressively graceful thud, turning to look over his shoulder at not only the girl he rescued, but Kilik as well.

"Good job, Cable," he laughed, putting his hands on his hips. "Though not exactly a difficult rescue, I suppose. Those Starly seemed pretty weak." Kilik glanced over at Katie with a heroic smile on his face, then started walking over to the purple haired girl. "Hey," he said lightly, kneeling down, "You okay? Don't worry, those Starly are gone."

"tch, lock-on again is it?" Their attacks were hurting the Magneton but not by a great deal. Steel types were a real pain to deal with baring the right types to counter with, maybe he should look into aquiring one for himself in the future. But that wasn't important right now, there was still a match to be had. Ariados watched as her opponent scanned her every move with his eyes once more analyzing her patterns, and she didn't like it one bit. Crenu thought for a moment about his options, though there were hardly any viable ones. Another acrobatics show wasn't worth the effort considering how little their last one did, and Ariados was in peak health back then. Now she was injured, breathing heavily and backed into a corner surely the spider didn't have much left. Besides with a lock-on active all the acrobatics in the world wouldn't make a big difference save for making the hit a bit less direct. Crenu didn't know if Surge would go for another tricky thunder wave or the like, or if he would use this one to deliver the haymaker, but it didn't much matter. If it was a thunderwave he would have her deflect it again if she could, if it were stronger then he'd have to roll with it and think on the spot. But for now, there was only one move to make. "Night shade again, even an inorganic pokemon has its limits." The dumb magnet may or may not have had a limit, but Ariados was at hers and she stared the triple eyed pokemon down legs wobbly. She mustered up her power and focused, starting to create the shade once more, it was weak at first but she was able to give it a final push and the attack poured out. The hungry night shade scurrying rapidly to its target wanting another bite.

Kasiya continued to stare into the smoky haze, aware of the fact that her eyes were burning and starting to water, but she ignored it, instead trying to get the smoke to clear out by sheer force of her own will. Of course, the smoke remained draped over the battlefield like a blanket, and now, of to the side, Kasiya could make out the sounds of another battle starting up. It seemed as though that Amy girl had returned, and she and the redhead had started to battle, as well. Kasiya took several steps back until she was only surrounded by a thin veil of haze and she could see, just barely, that the other two girls were indeed starting a battle, though she could not make out which two Pokemon they were using.

She'd heard Riza call out for Eris to use her special move and she tensed up, wondering what on earth that could possibly be. She remembered that Mike's Felsic had been able to use the powerful Crush Claw, so did Eris know how to use it as well? She'd soon find out, though, as not long after that did she hear Nova start to roar out in pain as Eris' psychic attack assaulted the poor Charmeleon's mind, ripping through her head like a drill. "Nova!" Kasiya cried, worry in her voice. "Hang in there, girl! See if you can clear away some of that smoke with your Dragon Rage!" Still a bit dazed from the powerful attack she'd just suffered, Nova stumbled a bit, but her goal was quite clear: that Quilava was going to pay dearly for that. The Charmeleon inhaled deeply despite the smog around her, able to feel the unnatural dragon fire building up inside of her. She opened her mouth wide and expelled a tremendous and wide burst of indigo flames, pleased to see that the force of it caused much of the smoke to be pushed back and leave her in a clear little area all to herself. Feeling at least a little victorious, Nova gave a loud roar to show Riza and Eris that she was far from done yet.

Well, I'll be, Karrigan thought, watching the Tyrogue carefully as he'd started in on the attack again; attempting to carry out the Tackle that Amy had called for. For the time being, at least, the confusion had a hold of Lee and the little fighter had hit the ground. At that moment, Karrigan realized what both Amy and Amber already had, which was the fact that Lee had only close-range moves while Amber had several ranged attacks and could easily keep the Tyrogue at bay. She's smarter than I gave her credit for, the redhead thought, smiling at her Vulpix, though all she got in return was a haughty scoff.

"All right then," Karrigan murmured, feeling both hurt and embarrassed by her Pokemon's lack of respect for her, but she knew that respect had to be earned by both parties. Aegeus, for instance, had resisted capture several times, but upon seeing Karrigan's determination, the Onix had finally made the decision himself to go along with her. Karrigan glanced over at Amy again, able to see that her friend was doing her best not to let their friendship incapacitate her. Karrigan decided to do the same. "Amber, while he's down, trap him with Fire Spin," she said, her voice sharp, and surprisingly cold.

That's more like it, Amber thought, all six tails starting to shimmer with heat. Her ears flattened against her head and she opened her mouth, expelling a narrow, spiraling tongue of fire. The flames hit the ground and blossomed in a fiery, swirling vortex. Karrigan recalled that Amber had used this technique effectively against her before, and it seemed she had quite a skill at manipulating her flames.

Surge just laughed, able to see that Crenu was finding himself being backed into a corner. It was safe to say that Magneton had the upper hand in this match now, evident by how weak Ariados was looking. Crenu seemed to go over his options rather quickly before finally settling on the only move that had really been effective thus far. "Tsk, tsk, another Night Shade?" Surge chortled, mimicking his challenger as Ariados readied herself, and he watched as the shadowy aura streamed from the spider Pokemon and traveled along the ground, once again encompassing Magneton in darkness. When it faded, Magneton was still hovering in place, but Surge knew that the Magnet Pokemon was on its proverbial last legs. But, looking at Ariados, she appeared to be, as well, and he knew that the next attack to hit would likely move them on to the next round.

"Ahh, I love a good match to get me going in the morning," Surge laughed, clapping his hands together. "Go for it, Magneton. Blast that bug away with yer Tri Attack." The bolts on Magneton's body started spinning once again, a differently coloured energy quickly building up in each face. With a loud buzzing sound, the Magnet launched all three types of energy into condensed rays which spiraled together, creating for a dangerous-looking beam that sped unerringly toward Ariados.

"Hey, where's that light coming from?" Jasper asked no one in particular after they'd caught their breath, and Jasper realized that it should have been black as night in here by now. Ditto-chu pointed and Totodile ambled over to where the faux-mouse had indicated, finding that one of the Rockets had dropped their flashlight during the exchange. "Oh, I see," the boy sighed. "Bring it here, Totodile." The gator obliged, turning the illuminating device over in her hands a few times as she brought it to her trainer, also managing, by pure skill, to shine it in everyone's eyes, including her own, at least twice. "I always wanted a flashlight," Jasper murmured, standing up. "Well, let's get out of here. At this rate, Jett and Scarlet are going to think we got lost or something."

He and his two Pokemon started moving toward the exit of the well, which would be much easier with the help of the flashlight, but a low, pitiful moan caught their attention and they turned to find the source. After a few sweeps of the beam of light, Jasper noticed the abandoned Pokeball, and not ten feet from it, the equally-abandoned Koffing. The poor poison type was still suffering from paralysis, and a comically large bump on its head from where Paras had jabbed it with a claw, and its eyes were round and filled with tears.

"....they just left it here," Jasper said after a moment or two, and he looked around, not sure what to do with it. It was obviously in pain and needed to be treated. "I guess we have no choice but to take it with us," the boy said finally. "Here, Totodile. Carry the light. And please stop blinding people," he added as he handed the flashlight to the gator. Ditto-chu ran over and picked up Koffing's Pokeball as Jasper stooped down and picked up Koffing, surprised by how light it turned out to be. The Pokemon offered up a weak grin and puffed out a small cloud of smog, which caused Jasper to cough. "Okay, none of that," he sighed, motioning for his crew to head out. "Back to the Pokemon Center."

Crenu smirked a bit at Surge's remark, he had that coming he supposed. It was good to see that the Night Shade had landed well and took another chunk from Magneton, but the magnet pokemon wasn't finished yet that was clear. It was hard to tell how much Stamina it had left, but it seemed to have a good amount of steam left as it charged up its next attack quickly firing its beam without hesitation. "Aridos try another Hidden Power." It was all they could to to try and mitigate the damage, and Ariados tried her best to summon up the electrical orbs again, but she barely managed to make a spark before the tri colored attack blasted her head on. The feeling of being zapped and burned and frozen at the same time was very hard to describe if at all possible, all she knew was that it sent a searing pain throuh her whole body as it knocked her to her back and skidding several feet before she came to a halt near Crenu's feet, unconscious legs curled up and moving slightly. Crenu just loomed atthe spider for a moment, then recalled her to her pokeball. "You did better than I thought against that kind of opponent." He said quietly as he thought. "I had a water type I wanted to use against you Surge. Unfortunately he came down with a broken hand last night, so you'll have to excuse my next choice." He said plainly as he tossed his second pokeball onto the field, unleashing Pupitar who glared silently at his opponent. "Brick Break, Ariados gave you the gift of a speed advantage so don't waste it." Crenu had hardly gotten the words out before the dust had been kicked up by Pupitar, head glowing as he suddenly rocketed forward for his attack.

The girl's smile grew a little when she heard the clear precision of Karrigan's voice, taking some odd, masochistic solace in the fact that her friend wasn't going to go easy on her. But that smile didn't last long when Amy realized what a Fire Spin would mean for a very Confused Tyrogue. "Lee!" she called out, finding her own voice to be commanding as well. "You have to get out of the way!" The Fighting-type glanced her way, but still found his feet unsteady and his movements slow. Amber had played her game well; when the Fire Spin erupted around the Scuffle Pokemon, he let out a startled cry and grabbed his head, eyes squeezing shut in another attempt to rid himself of this blasted confusion.

The bespectacled girl watched the vortex of flames with wary eyes, wondering how her Pokemon was supposed to escape. Leaping directly through flames would probably sustain some damage, and she wasn't even sure if it was possible in the first place. But it also left them susceptible to other attacks, and sooner or later they would have not much of a choice. "Clear your head," Amy suggested, making sure she could be heard over the flames. Lee said nothing in reply, feeling the lick of the flames on his skin and wincing in reply. Trying to find a spot where he would feel the least of the heat, the Scuffle Pokemon sat down and closed his eyes, hoping that meditation would be of some use. With his eyes closed, his head wasn't aching as much, but it also made him wary. He braced himself for attack as he sat. Amy saw a glimpse of him as the flames shifted again, but her expression did not betray her uncertainty. She only hoped that Lee's evolution would be coming soon, so that the Fighting-type would not be in this sort of situation anymore.

Jade watched the Magnemite with equal parts interest and wariness; she did not want to be shocked, as those workers had been, but the Steel/Electric-type seemed complacent for the moment with its new trainer. Unlike certain Pokemon, she thought, a little sourly, turning the Shinx towards her again. He narrowed his eyes at her and flailed a little, demanding to be let down. The Electric-type glanced at the magnet inspecting it and growled again.

"I'm thinking I'll call him--if it is a him--Cirrus," the black-haired girl said, pulling Shinx close to her again. "Solaris had gone after him and they got into a pretty rough battle." After a moment's consideration, she gently put the Flash Pokemon on the ground, watching his immediate reaction. Cirrus turned towards Grotle at first, eyes narrowing, then up at this new blonde trainer, before backing away until he hit Jade's leg. She smiled a little and looked back at Jake. "I'm glad you got what you were looking for, though. Magnemite is a nice Pokemon, I've heard." Cirrus kept glancing between the Grove Pokemon and Jake, apparently having already deemed his fellow Electric-type safe, his eyes narrowing at the two of them. "So, are we heading back to Floaroma?" Jade asked then, squatting down to scratch the blue kitten behind the ears. He tensed at first, but decided to allow it without much expression. The raven-haired smirked at both that and her friend's new footwear. "Nice boots, by the way."

The Mouse Pokemon seemed to be a reluctant battler for the most part, but Naja offered no opportunity for escape. It launched into a Quick Attack, becoming a purple streak that slammed into the snake's side. Naja coiled back, hissing fiercely at the mouse. Jett watched with interest, studying the two Pokemon as they glared at each other. But before Naja began to strike again, his voice, clear and calm, stilled her.

"Naja." The dark-haired boy received a disgruntled glance from the snake, but he had her attention nonetheless. "Use Poison Sting," Jett commanded, and the Poison-type obliged after a moment's hesitation, wishing sincerely that she did not have to take orders from this boy. The end of her tail glowed a bright purple before she lashed out, striking the mouse and sending it rolling back on its belly. Ratatta let out a high-pitched squeak, wide eyes watching as Naja slithered over with a maddening slowness, malice in her eyes. "Don't do that," Jett sighed, even as the Pokemon ignored him. "Don't scare him; that's not what we're trying to do. I just wanted to see..." It was too late. The Ekans seemed entertained enough, to circle around the prone Ratatta and strike out at random intervals, hissing in the mouse's face and reveling in the squeaks of terror. The boy groaned a little and finally recalled the snake, leaving the Normal-type very confused. "I'm sorry--she's new," he said, picking up the Ratatta and setting it back on its feet. After another moment of looking around, as if expecting the snake to pop out again, the Mouse Pokemon scurried off.

The raven-haired boy studied Naja's Pokeball again, frowning a little before setting out to head back to the Pokecenter. She was still hurt from her battle with River, and he wanted to heal his Pokemon for the night so they would all be ready for the gym battle tomorrow. With a glance at the sky to check the time, Jett began to head back into town, wondering what his friends had gotten up to in his absence.

Riza was far too focused on her Quilava to notice that Amy and the other girl had started up their own battle, though she hoped the bespectacled girl would stick around at least for a while so she could ask about that letter. It had been kind of abrupt and Riza had been worried about Amy after her sudden disappearance from the contest hall. Right now, though, she had been listening carefully for sounds from Nova or Kasiya, and the cries that the Charmeleon gave were enough to let them know the Extrasensory had been successful. Using the move again and again, however, felt sort of cheap, but it was possibly Eris' best option for staying out of the way of those dangerous claws. Eris, meanwhile, confident that the Charmeleon couldn't reach her, had ventured a bit closer after her attack only to find herself face to face with a sudden wall of bluish fire. Wait, fire? She was a fire-type, so she was sure she'd be fine. But this fire, there was something different about it, the way it moved. And when it hit her, it hurt, so much more than natural fire. It burned with an unnatural heat, one that rattled her to her core and she idly wondered if this was the power of dragons Nova had been calling upon the whole time.

Hearing her Quilava's yelps of pain made Riza's eyes narrow and she tried to peer into the smoke, as it was already starting to lift. She knew full well how reliable Dragon Rage could be, as her Dratini, Faustus was capable of using it. Another direct hit from that could bring Eris down. "Go for the hit and run again," she said, trying to keep her voice low, yet loud enough for the fire-type to hear. "Quick Attack!" The skin beneath her fur still felt like it was burning, which made the Quilava feel helpless as that was supposed to be her thing - being the one that caused her opponents to burn! She dug in her paws for traction and vaulted forward, speeding through the smoke toward the Charmeleon. The hit and run was on again, even though neither Riza nor Eris were confident they could make a clean getaway this time.

Genki had moved forward a bit, standing a little straighter after hearing Kilik's compliment. In fact, all of Katie's team seemed to perk up a little, especially considering how powerful their company was. Katie, meanwhile, found herself fighting back another blush from the remark. "W-well, I don't know about that. We have a long way to go to catch up to you guys," she said, gesturing around the group. She looked away from the dark haired boy and his Flygon, instead choosing to watch the Pokemon. Miles was enjoying the company of Kilik's Flareon as the two chased each other around in dizzying circles, and Kord of course was on cloud nine as he continued to ride around on Cable's head. Katie felt the dragon shift some and she looked over, her ruby eyes going wide when she realized she was nearly face to face with Kilik. That of course did nothing to help her blush and she stumbled back, tripping over a rock and landing sharply on her rear.

What happened next was almost in slow motion for the orange haired girl as she sat up. One moment Kilik was almost yelling at Bahamut and then the next, a girl had ran by, being chased by what looked like a flock of Starly. They were pecking at her and zooming at her with quick attacks and it looked like they were really hurting her. She tried to get to her feet, to help the girl who she now saw clutching a white Pokemon in her arms, but before she could even think, Kilik had come to the rescue and before long, Cable was blasting all the attacking birds away with a powerful Discharge. Kord and Nell had taken refuge behind a large rock and somehow the rest of the Pokemon had avoided being hit as well. Katie slowly got to her feet, ignoring the pain in her butt as she too walked over toward the girl, returning Kilik's smile even though she was a little annoyed that he'd jumped in and been the hero and hadn't given her a chance to help. Kord seemed to feel the same way judging by the hurt look he was giving Cable. But petty things like jealousy weren't important now and she too knelt down beside the girl. "Yep, you're safe now," she said, nodding to the girl. She also had a better look at the Pokemon and realized she'd seen it in books before, a Castform. "Are you or your Pokemon hurt?" she asked, feeling awkward. She wasn't really a people person so this helping thing was kind of new to her.

Two years ago. Aster Breeding Daycare.

“Ow.” Jenea jerked her hand back, dropping the handful of Pokémon food she held. The overeager spearow hopped off of her shoulder and landed on the ground beside her as a small flock of bird Pokémon swooped down to the spot on the green carpet. She rubbed the center of her palm as she watched them feed. Squatting down, a weak smiled lingered on her face as she looked at all of the other Pokémon her parents were taking care of in the daycare: two rattata chasing each other, a vulpix and a white eevee playful tackling one another, and her precious Moody sitting atop the head of a psyduck as the two rested by a rain splattered window. Wish I could take a nap now… but there is still work to be done.

A chill swept through the room as the door leading outside opened. “You are suppose to be with the older Pokémon already, Jenea.” The door closed, lightly but with a certain amount of force that went unnoticed by all of the little Pokémon. Jenea caught it though. “Why haven’t you made it over there yet?” She could feel Yolanda’s emerald eyes drilling into her forehead, even as she preoccupied her own eyes with the red mark in the palm of her right hand.

“The birds wanted to play a lil’,” Jenea muttered, finally looking her mother in the eyes. “And when I tried to feed them, one of the accidently pecked—“

“Excuses.” The word was like a whip to Jenea’s heart. She lowered her gaze back to her hand. Yolanda walked on by, one of the soaked grocery bags tapping Jenea’s shoulder. She listened to the her mother’s rain boots squelching along the non-carpeted area of the young Pokémon’s room. “How can you think to be a successful trainer when you can’t even handle a few small Pokémon? I expect to see you challenging your dad in one hour.”

That was not her thinking aloud. That was a demand. Jenea sharply turned to face the back of her mom’s yellow raincoat, jumping to her feet. “But mom, Moody has only just fini—“

“Thirty minutes.”

“Bu—“

“Five minutes.” Yolanda glared over her shoulder, a single bang of green hair between her stony eyes. “Do I make myself clear?”

Jenea lowered her gaze back to her hand and held her tongue, simply nodding in response.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 03, 2012 12:22 am

The sound of crackling electricity shattered the sort of trance Jenea had fallen into. She had failed to notice when the Pokémon had jumped over her, but the mild quake from it landing behind her was enough to bring Jenea to her knees. She still clung to Moody but her hold was weaker now. A black haired guy and a girl with twintails walked up to her, asking if she and Moody were alright. They actually came…

“Yeah,” she slowly nodded, “Moody’s not hurt. And so am I.” Jenea looked up, alternating her gaze from the guy to the girl as she spoke. “It’s not the first time I’ve been pecked by birds.” She chuckled at that last bit. “Who do I have to thank for helping me? Or did you both help?”

Moody did know who had called the shots. And he knew exactly how he wanted to show his gratitude. With a sudden push, the castform escaped the deafening hug of Jenea and flew head first into he guy’s face. Lacking certain limbs made it pretty difficult to hug their defender, so Moody did the next best thing. He vigorously rubbed his forehead against the guy’s. The embarrassment shown vividly in Jenea’s cheeks at the sight. “Moody!”

For the most part oblivious to the love-dodecahedren that was going on around her, Winona took no particular attention to the splitting of the groups. The only issue was this kid that she was paired with. Kilik, was it? Her head was still spinning so she only half paid attention to what the spiky-haired boy was saying. "Yeah. Got it." she said, hopping on top of the Flygon and looking back to see that Kilik and Maxie were both on. She pulled her goggles down from her helmet and over her eyes. "Hang on."

While most regarded flying with some degree of fright, Winona felt quite the opposite. To her, the feeling of the wind in her face and the rush that came with it was where she felt most comfortable. She'd been flying since she was a little girl, and whenever she wanted some private time when she wasn't training, she could be seen circling the skies of Fortee. This time however, wasn't a joy ride. It was business. It was transporting a very dangerous man to where he belonged. Winona sighed. How did I get wrapped up in this? she thought.

Kilik didn't say a thing the entire ride, save the landing. Good. She wasn't in the mood for conversation. It was never really her strong suit, anyway. "I'll take care of it." Winona said simply, dismounting the Flygon and walking into the station.

The receptionist perked up immediately when she saw just who it was walking through the door. "Winona?" her gaze shifted to the person being carried in and almost jumped out of her chair. "Is tha-?"

"My name is Winona Riviera," the purple haired girl interrupted. "Gym Leader of Fortree City, and I am here to make a citizen's arrest on behalf of Michael Kyoka on the dangerous eco-terrorist, Maxie of Team Magma. I would like to speak with the chief. I have very pressing matters to attend to and don't have all day."

"Yes of course." the receptionist said, picking up the phone and sending for the chief.

"Luckily, I come prepared!" Sasha said, dragging both Kasiya and the chair into the lady's room. She set her down in front of the mirror and took out her messenger bag, which was looking a bit worse for the wear. Sasha frowned, but then forgot about it. She can always get another one, or fifty just like it. "First s'hings first. Let's get z'hat hair untangled." Placing her bag down, Sasha began to gently undo Kasiya's large braid, softly running her delicate fingers through her hair. "You have such lovely natural color." she said with a hint of envy in her voice. "Don't ever let me color it, no matter how much I beg, okay?" In no time at all Kasiya's hair was hanging down to her lower back, and Sasha was lovingly brushing it while humming a sweet melody.

"So tell me, ma chere." she said between songs. "What are you plans after all z'his is over? Back to training?"

Alexis didn’t feel so silly when she heard Hayley repeat the legend just like her dad did. That surprised her for a second, but it made a lot of sense that a person who wanted to be a great pokemon watcher would know her pokemon, legendary or not. Hayley did mention that there were researchers who didn’t think Arceus was real, and though the thought of going all out on this quest and never finding the Alpha Pokemon was a scary, saddening thought. She couldn’t let it get to her, though, she figured as she found herself frowning, her gaze finding the table. Alexis knew she wouldn’t get anywhere if she didn’t try.

Hayley’s well wishes helped a lot though. It turned that tiny frown into an equally tiny smile. “Thank you. I really hope so too.”

She and Kressen listened as Hayley revealed that being a renowned watcher wasn’t her only goal. Like the redhead, Alexis didn’t have a sibling, but it couldn’t have been a terribly wonderful feeling to lose someone you cared about. At least she could pick up a phone and call her father whenever she wanted. Poor Hayley didn’t even have that. The sight of the usually cheerful brunette looking so despondent was a depressing sight. “I’m sorry, Hayley. I hope you can find him too…”

Hayley didn’t stay that way though. The mood lightened a bit once Hayley cheered up, and Alexis quietly finished her burger, with Blues polishing off his trainer’s cheese fries and Roll cheerfully stuffing an entire poffin in her mouth. “Thanks for the meal, Kressen,” she grinned. The smile faded a tiny bit at the prospect of a pokemon battle. It was true. Roll could use the experience, and Alexis needed to get better at strategy to have any hope of attaining her goal. Not that she got a chance to answer the question on her own.

Blues perked up when he heard Kressen’s question. He wiped his mouth with the back of his wrist, before he faded off from Alex’s side, popping up instantaneously in the alleyway beside the booth, nodding toward Kressen. Alexis blinked at him, a little surprised by the initiative he showed, but she wasn’t going to argue. The little Abra had to get stronger too, after all.

“Okay. I’ll do it.”

After his story was complete, it inexplicably felt like a tremendous weight had been lifted from his shoulders, and Keegan sighed, a little annoyed to find that his hands were still trembling slightly. Okay, they were done. They'd completed their duty and now Karen had been informed of the situation. That meant they could leave now, right? He quickly shoved his hands into his pockets so that neither Flannery nor Mrs Kyoka would see them, though before he could even think about retreating, Mike's mom had thrown her arms around the both of them, something she hadn't done since they were small. The shows of affection startled the redhead and he staggered back once she let go, feeling somewhat awkward and embarrassed. He wasn't even sure when the last time his own mother had hugged him. He looked over at Flannery, unsure of how the gym leader was handling all of this, and admittedly, it was a little strange to be spending time with her again, after everything that had happened.

Flannery took his arm then, and led the way as they moved to follow Mrs Kyoka out of the house, able to hear the familiar tones of a cellphone being dialed. He thought nothing of it until he heard his father's name, and he probably would have dove headlong into the nearby rosebush if Flannery hadn't been holding on to him. It occurred to him then that he hadn't thought of how Mrs Kyoka would be getting to Lilycove, but when she asked to borrow The Dame, it all became crystal clear. That still didn't mean he wanted to see his father, however, especially in the bloodied and battered state he was in. He knew without any further listening that his father would easily hand over the grand Charizard, as despite their children's various falling-outs, the parentals had always maintained good relations. And, of course, the fact that Mrs Kyoka had done so much for the breeding ranch meant that Mr Summers would easily grant favors such as this. He could imagine his father's voice in his head and he wondered who would send the dragon's PokeBall over, but he didn't want to be around to find out.

The redhead suddenly wrenched his arm free from Flannery's grasp, reminded of all the other times his arm had been put in a death grip or nearly ripped off by a certain overeager, jealous and easily excited blonde and his heart faltered painfully. As weird as it was, he was glad that his friendship with Flannery had been rekindled, but even still, he wished he could switch her with Kasiya. He could see her now, keeping constant vigil at Mike's bedside, her blue eyes wide with worry and concern as she held his hand and fed him little sips of water (or whatever liquid they could give to a boy that was often on fire), and it made him sick to his stomach. He felt terrible for thinking that way, but he couldn't help himself. Things were backwards, weren't they? Flannery should be the one at the hospital with Mike, and Kasiya should be here with him. For the second time in only a few minutes, Keegan felt his eyes burning with the threat of tears, and he knew he had to get away before anyone started to question him.

"I'm going to the Pokemon Center," he said suddenly and harshly, and he turned and started to walk away, purposefully refusing looking anyone in the eye. "Call me if you need me, but I'm sure nobody will." He picked up his pace and didn't look back, at least until Flannery and Mrs Kyoka were well out of sight.

Miharu watched her opponents from across the battlefield, feeling an odd sense of excitement even though it was really only an exhibition match, and she waited, apparently quite all right with Leroy being the one to take the first move. The Rocket decided to do just that, suddenly finding some solace in the fact that Miharu wouldn't be going out of her way to cause harm to his Pokemon, and a slight twinge of guilt jabbed at his stomach as he nodded to his Houndoom. "Flamethrower," he said simply. The canine's aim had always been questionable at best, and now that he had finally evolved, it was time to whip him into shape.

Houndoom planted his feet and thrust his head forward, shooting out a narrow jet of blazing flames at the Bird Pokemon. Miharu didn't have to tell Aska to dodge as the Pidgeot was wise enough to know when to move. With a flap of her wings she took to the air, able to feel the heat from the Fire-type's attack even as she distanced herself from it. She may have been somewhat stronger, but even still, she did not want to get scorched by those flames. The Pidgeot twisted in the sky, looking down at her opponent as she awaited her command. "Twister," Miharu called, deciding to start off easy.

The Bird Pokemon gave several rapid flaps of her powerful wings, effortlessly generating a spiral of wind that quickly warped into a vicious Twister. It closed in on Houndoom, who could not outrun it and it rolled over him. Not only did the winds tear at him, but he was also buffeted by bits of debris that had been kicked up in it as well. The winds finally died down and Houndoom pulled himself to his feet, snarling viciously. Lee just smirked, even though his Pokemon had just taken damage. Seeing the power of Miharu's Pokemon only increased his desire to take them for himself.

A shimmery powder appeared in the air, floating down over Meowth. Train felt her heart swell; Oddish had listened to her! Twice in a row! If this wasn’t a monumental training session, then what was?

Meowth tried to shake off the powder, but it was already working its way into the Pokémon’s system. The Meowth launched itself at Oddish and swiped at her hard, knocking the Grass-type back. She got up quickly and launched an assault of green orbs at the cat. Train buried her face in her hands and sighed, but only mumbled to herself,
”Well, it was a start…”

Leon was more than relieved to finally see Petalburg appear before him. He kept up his pace and before long had entered the city. Like any trainer would, the first thing he did was head for the Pokémon Center…although it wasn’t like Ghos and Muuma really needed it.

The young adult sighed, tucking away the two PokéBalls and exiting the Center. Well, he’d already come quite a ways. May as well just keep going at this point.

Cindy beamed across the small battlefield at Keegan, apparently pleased with the redhead's manners. It was difficult for Keegan not to smile back, as she seemed genuinely happy to see him, but in the back of his mind he couldn't help but wonder if maybe she'd singled him out because he'd been an easy win last time. When he realized where his train of thought was heading he stopped himself, feeling like an idiot. Just because it seemed like it at times, not everyone was out to get him. Or so he hoped, at least. Cindy seemed to have chosen her first attack and she didn't hesitate to call it out. "Fury Swipes!" Her voice was cheerful and upbeat, and Keegan decided that it would be best to lose himself in this battle and focus on nothing else. A break from reality would do him good.

The Rush Pokemon, as indicated by the redhead's PokeDex, raced forward in a straight, speedy line. It skidded to a halt in front of a surprised Eithne and lashed out with its claws, swiping them across the Growlithe's face and chest three times before the Puppy Pokemon could properly react. Eithne gave a low whine and stumbled back, shaking her head. The pain seemed to be fleeting though and she quickly got over it, the whimper changing to a low, menacing growl. Keegan smirked, already fond of his newest Pokemon's spirit, and he gave a nod. "All right Eithne, now it's our turn," he said, sliding one hand into the pocket of his jacket and toying with the flap of his cigarette pack. After seeing Hiro's tenacity at the Magma base, he was actually quite excited to see what Eithne could do. "Flame Wheel." The Growlithe's snarls intensified as she suddenly jumped forward, her body igniting and transforming her into a comet. It seemed to take no time for the Puppy Pokemon to make up the distance Linoone had tried to put between them, as the next thing either trainer was aware of, was a flash of flames and a slightly singed Linoone being bounced back. Eithne wasn't bursting with power, but what she lacked in strength, she definitely made up for in energy, giving a spirited bark with her successful attack and retreating back to her trainer as their opponents regrouped.

"Oh my, that was quite a Flame Wheel," Cindy said, clapping her hands together. "Linoone, sweetie, are you all right?" The Rush Pokemon had gotten to its feet, suffering a few charred patches but still bursting with energy. "Good, good, shall we continue? Let's give your Headbutt a try." The Normal-type gave a cry and ran forward again, not at all deterred by the fiery pup. It lowered its head as it came within range, using its hind legs to thrust itself forward. Eithne gave a pained yelp and fell to the ground, trembling. The hit had been hard, and Keegan frowned, recalling that before evolving, the then-Zigzagoon had used Headbutt to knock out Helios in just one hit.

"Houndoom, get in there and use Beat Up," Leroy said, leaning back on his heels and folding his arms across his chest. He'd always heard good things about the Houndour/Houndoom line, but so far his hadn't really been pulling its weight. Though he wasn't like a lot of his fellow Team Rocket members, hard-assed and cruel to their Pokemon, he wasn't against letting one go if it wasn't strong enough. He looked over again at Miharu's Pidgeot and grinned as the Dark-type gave a howl. Suddenly, a black silhouette, perfectly resembling Houndoom shot up out of the canine's shadow and streaked after the Bird Pokemon. As soon as it made its attack, another silhouette began its assault, this one resembling Leroy's Ariados. Next came shadowy versions of Cacturne, Zangoose and Octillery, with the final attack being delivered by Banette. Aska cried out but remained strong, taking herself higher into the air as she looked down at the Houndoom.

So that's what a Beat Up attack looks like, Miharu thought, now looking up at Aska. The Pidgeot still seemed to be okay, and she knew she should attack back but, unlike Lee, she wasn't willing to cause unnecessary harm to Houndoom as it was much less experienced than Aska. "Use Gust," she called. The bird gave a curt nod and once again her wings began to flap, and she sent another twister, this one slightly smaller, spinning toward the canine.

Leroy narrowed his eyes, knowing full-well that Miharu's Pidgeot was capable of stronger, more useful attacks like Fly or Aerial Ace, and he quickly figured out what she was doing. "Don't hold back!" he shouted over the wind as it once again tore at Houndoom. "If you hold back, we'll never get stronger. Go full out, because we sure as hell ain't holding back! Houndoom, use Dark Pulse! Now!"
