Evros winced at Chris' shouts, but ignored her otherwise.
"You can't give me what I want, Imperator. I have what I want." He glanced over at the Centrifuge. "I just can't have anyone knowing about it, and as it is all of you know far too much."
He let go of Kaok's wrist, but his gun was still pointed at her temple - her face stuck in an unreadable expression. The doctor removed a syringe from his coat pocket and before the Faun knew what was happening, the contents were being emptied into her veins. She didn't feel a thing off at first, but then her legs started feeling wobbly and in the seconds following she promptly fell to the floor. It all happened so fast that she just barely managed to put her hands out in front of her. She hit the floor and landed right on one of the security system's pressure plates.*
A metal door closed over the original door of the lab - reminiscent of the lock-down they underwent in the sky-mansion. Evros quickly placed one of the gas-masks - which had been in one of his larger pockets - on his own face. The other still resided on the other side of the room.
The lab began to vent with poisonous gases, and the only door that seemed to go anywhere was the door with stairs leading down to the basement. It was opened invitingly, and was quite possibly their only salvation for the moment. James tried to, covering his mouth as best he could, motion to the others to get Kaok and go through the door. They could just be walking into Evros' trap, but it was better than dying.
((*Lawl remember that? :'D))

Chris covered her mouth and ran toward the door, Her hatred for Evros grew as she ran toward the door. "That stupid stupid STUPID b*****d!! If Remus doesn't kill him I'm going to break his nose, THEN let Remus kill him." Dark hatred in her eyes, Chris tried not to breath.

Remus didn't worry about the gas. As a giant metal robot, gas was not even a minor annoyance. The Golden Gladiator quickly bolted forward while Evros was putting his mask on and picked up Kaok. He left Perseverance and the gauss rifle behind, as there was not enough time to pick them up without endangering her. Remus knew the guass rifle would have broken the doctor's arm and shoulder if he used it, and Perseverance was much too heavy. The Imperator followed after the others down the stairs, Kaok cradled in his arms.

When on the other side of the door, it slammed shut, and would appear to be made of the same sort of material as the lab's front door - made to keep them in rather than out. Though that was probably for the best, as no gas would appear to be able to enter the basement.
It was pitch black inside for a moment, and then lights began to turn on automatically to reveal the whole room. James nearly gagged when he saw it. This whole time that he had been working here, there had been what could be described as very similar to a morgue. Only, he was quite sure that these were test subjects for things like the Centrifuge and the Window, and whatever other manner of experiments the doctor had been conducting.
There were people who had been split in two, like Kaok, but just barely put together again (and now looked like conjoined twins). People who looked to be perfectly alive, but whose minds were off elsewhere, in another dimension perhaps. And a few people in a section called Projector who were dead, but whose arms jerked every once in a while like they were trying to stop being dead. And not all of them were so well preserved.
The elf could barely move for shock - again.

Emma stifled a gasp as she looked around, horrified and just as taken aback as Carnideer was. The lights above her flickered and sparked as her power surged in response (in spite of her efforts to quell it).
Meanwhile, Hrothbert's expression had remained unchanged and about as readable as stone. However, if Emma had ceased her own raging to pay attention to their link for one moment, she would have noticed something.
Threads of black in his aura (that had always been there), growing stronger.

Remus looked at the horrors around the room. He couldn't believe that such atrocities were being committed in the center of the Galactic Roman Empire, right under his nose. The Imperator still had Kaok in his arms.
"You weren't aware of this, James?" he asked the elf.

((Er. Kaok's conscious, her legs are just temporarily paralyzed.))
"No, I-I... how could he hide this for so long?" James muttered, to both himself and to the Imperator. Examining one of the yet living Window test subjects, he saw a tattoo that he was sure was Gaian in origin.
"However he did it, he's been doing it since before he moved here." A thought struck him. "Maybe he'd even been planning this whole thing back there... but why?"
If the machine hadn't functioned right, how come Dr. Evros acted as though it had just now? How come-? Unless the machine hadn't been sabotaged or malfunctioned - he regarded the test subjects - as it would appear that the machine physically split people in two on a consistent basis, rather than mentally as Kaok and James had been told. They hadn't witnessed a mistake, but rather the machine working perfectly. Evros wanted to mess with his genetics, his very being. But why was that?
As James thought this through, Kaok awkwardly sat there in Remus' arms. Useless. She was useless. All she had done all this time was walk into traps and get used as leverage, and-. And there was something in the corner of her eye. She knew what it was, though she sincerely had hoped that all of that nonsense would have stopped. No such luck. She was hallucinating again and there was nothing that could be done about it.

Chris's legs wobbled until she fell over, Staring on horror at the mess. "You...You sick b*****d.." She whispered shaking tears rolling from her working eye, Her hands clenched into fists from rage. ( Writers block. This is so freaking creepy. )

Emma was silent, watching Kaok with concern and averting her eyes and senses from the tall figure beside her. Her consciousness skirted around their link, afraid of what she would find on the other side.
She could feel some of it and made her blood run cold.
The enchantress busied herself trying to get Kaok's legs to work, putting a gentle hand on the Faun's shoulder and trying to work the toxin out of her system.
Her own hand was trembling.

The Imperator looked around, seeing if there was a way out. If there wasn't one, he would make one. Remus had no intention of sitting down in this basement to rust. Or let those close to him stay trapped in here.
"So, is there any way to escape? I want to stop this maniac before he starts taking more lives for his sick experiments."

Before he takes ours you mean.
"Not that I know of, but-."
Suddenly, the elf's eyes traveled across the room - something had moved that he hadn't previously seen. If his eyes weren't fooling him, it would appear to be someone whose photograph he'd seen before. "...what the hell?"

Neither noble turned. They already knew what they would see. Emma had her eyes squeezed shut, still trying to work the toxin out of Kaok's system before her own fears consumed her.

The Imperator gave the elf a strange look wondering what he had seen, but Chris' idea for escape took his mind off of it.
"It's certainly an idea Chris, but those doors are well reinforced. Even Perseverance would have difficulty smashing through them. Though a hammer...with a bit of magic help might do it, perhaps?" Remus looked toward Hrothbert.
