Rook chuckled, and shook his head.
"As far as anyone at the outpost knows... I'm dead, still, and you've been missing in action. Lincoln will probably say you were killed in action, and Crane is likely going to be executed for his failure at the school. Loosing someone's kid, as well as the list to a pair of kids with a car? You're safe, with me, now, and no one knows where you are but us, in this room."

Ruby St.Claire Kat's eyes narrowed slightly, as she glanced to Adam and then to Rook. Her voice held an undertone of suspicion her body slightly tense as if she was looking at a possible betrayal. "Who is his Dad?" Adam slowly began to see where this could be bad. He bit his lip and replied, "Matthew Hall?"

Kat's eyes went pale as a steel knife as she heard the name, and they turned to Rook. "What the hell were you thinking?! A Councilman's kid? Sure Linc would have played some mind games, but they wouldn't' have hurt the brat. Now they're going to come after us and hard." Kat threw up her hands in fury. "You're godamn insane! Hell, the only way we could make this work is if we actually hold him hostage. What the hell, Rook!?"

Roxanna took a step closer to Adam. "Katherine, Lincoln was a monster, you knew that better than any of us. Rook did the best thing, it's dangerous, but it was the best decision."

Ruby St.Claire Kat's eyes went pale as a steel knife as she heard the name, and they turned to Rook. "What the hell were you thinking?! A Councilman's kid? Sure Linc would have played some mind games, but they wouldn't' have hurt the brat. Now they're going to come after us and hard." Kat threw up her hands in fury. "You're godamn insane! Hell, the only way we could make this work is if we actually hold him hostage. What the hell, Rook!?" "It's simple. I take the kid. And the Car. We remove whatever bugging he's got, his clothes and some organic matter, blood, hair, whatever, and burn the damn car with some skeleton in it. We make them think it was some snatch and grab on a poor disabled kid, and left him molested and dead in some lot somewhere." He sighed, leaning foreward to look at Kat, "You don't seem to think that I didn't think of this before we even got him? I used to make folks just up and vanish, and make it look accidental on a daily goddamn basis! I knew what I was getting into before I even voiced the damn plan, Kat!"

Adam tittered and stuttered even more, entirely too confused, "B-but...I-I-I know Mr Lincoln w-was b-b-bad. I-I d-don't need t-t-to be a hostage. M-my dad s-s-said t-t-t-o trust Rook...D-do I have to be v-vanished? W-w-hat about Dad..."
Taking a few deep breaths, he managed to get out a full sentence, "Where's the restroom?"

"A molester who happens to also steel their damned list." Kat glanced at Adam, "And how about you? Do you like this plan? Pretending you got killed? Never getting to see your family again, and your Dad going through massive amounts of pain as he believes his son died at the hands of a rapist?"
Kat returned her glare to Rook, "They saw me. You can hide your appearance, but I can't. All they need is to see a decent reference picture handed out by Linc, and they'll know it's me. Hell, all they need is to ask around a bit and they'll know the crazy new girl was kissing everyone and asking about powers. I'm screwed here, Rook. I'm screwed."
She let out a small laugh, "and if I stick around here I'm going to end up dragging all of you down with me. You know that, right?"

Ignoring his bladder for a moment longer, Adam turned his head to look over his shoulder, cloudy eyes gazing aimlessly. He spoke quietly, but without a stutter, "I know Mr Lincoln is a bad guy. But my dad trusts you, Rook. He said for me to trust you. I can't let my dad think I'm dead. If he knew about all this before, can't he help us?"

Ruby St.Claire The blond woman came as instructed, looking less than pleased as she walked up to the old church. Her high heels clicked violently on the sidewalk, echoing off the stone walls. Krieger glanced at her distastefully. And 'Ere shae is. I railly dina 'spect 'er to show. Ow well. He slithered down the wall and sauntered to the blond woman. She looked like she was going to say something, so he held up his hand and she stopped, suprised. "I did what I could, and that is all that I promised. If you want to kill her right, send a mindless robot, not a human being. I refuse to kill women, and if you had known me better, you'd have known that." He was about to turn away when his body spun around and his shoulder felt like it exploded. Almost a full second later, he heard the shot. "Damn...I shouldae 'spected tha' BETCH ta do somtin loik tha'." Krieger shifted to lizard form and stood up, only to see that the woman had produced a pistol. "Ya'd let a doity snipah do ya woik? Pitiful." Without warning, Krieger lunged. ------------- Maya looked at Roxy nervously. "Umm....Noo? I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong here though...." Maya looked around again, then a look of shock came over her face, followed by panic. "Hello? HELLO?! Oh...Oh no!" She fluttered about nervously, touching things and putting her ear close to them. "Oh man..What's going on?"
