"Thanks," Leyenda grinned, taking the spear from Lin. It was nothing fancy, a simple metal spear with a barbed tip, and in the back end of it there was a thin line tied to it. "But you might want to sit back now," she added, moving to the bow of the boat.

Roydon let the oars trail in the water, slowing them down and stopping them. "Lin," he said softly, "you may want to hold onto your cat, just in case."

Senka mewed in protest when Lin picked her up, she would rather have all four feet planted on what one could call the ground or the floor or whatever it might be. She was not pleased to feel the rocking of the boat, even though one could argue it wasn't that different from her riding on a shoulder.

"Come here silly, you're so small as long as you stayed out of the way I doubt you'd fall over."
"It's water," Senka protested, "Water is icky."

"Well that's where the fish that you love so much live," Leyenda grinned. She braced one foot against the edge of the boat and leaned forward slightly, balancing the spear in her hand. "And it takes hours to get them from the docks. Boat's the best way to get them."

Her muscles were tense, she was ready to throw the spear at any moment, but she looked very natural while she was standing there.

"Water's not bad," Earendil chuckled at Senka. "Without it, we die. We who live in the desert know that better than anyone."

Senka pouted, she didn't like this boat being on water. It moved too much and what if she got wet?

"I like drinking it, I don't like being soaked in it."
"Too bad even you need a bath every once in a while," Lin pointed out.

Not that she had really tried to bath Senka yet, Senka like most cats was very good about keeping herself clean. Even if it was with her tongue.

Earendil chuckled. "Are you planning on coming with us on our long voyage?" he asked Senka in amusement. "That's going to be a very long trip with more water than land, I think."

At that moment, Leyenda thrust the spear into the water with hardly a ripple, but the movement rocked the boat slightly. "Got one," she grinned, and she began to pull on the line, tugging the spear back up, but with a bit more difficulty than if it were just a spear.

Lin sighed somehow she thought if she had a choice she should have gone for a bigger cat, Wish wouldn't be this ridiculous. Then again Wish was old, though not older than Saki.

Senka all the while stuck out her tongue at Earendil, "Like I'm leaving my owner in the care of a male."
"Senka....."

Earendil laughed. "Then you better get used to this," he winked at her.

"Oh, you don't feel the rocking so much on a ship," Leyenda grinned as she pulled in her catch. "It's as stable as the house! Except in storms, then not so much."

She yanked the fish overboard. "Ooohhhh, a big one," she grinned. "Earendil, open the side hatch?"

Earendil did as he was asked, and Leyenda tossed the fish into the storage area. "Okay, close it again," she grinned; and then she positioned herself to prepare for another throw.

Senka blew a raspberry, which only made Lin sigh more. Though she did smile wryly at Leyenda's comment about ships. It was very obvious that the girl was down right obsessive about ships.

Lin peered down at the flopping and dying thing. She held onto Senka tigher because it looked like her cat wanted to go at it.

"That is big..." Lin commented.

She had seen a whole fish before after all.

Roydon grinned proudly. "Leyenda's been fishing since she was old enough to swim," he told the others. "She was born on a ship, too, if that says anything."

"Senka, if you leave that fish alone I'll let you have a small one to yourself," Leyenda bribed the cat, her eyes on the water, searching out her next target.

"Born on a ship?" Lin inquired.

She wondered what happened to resulted in that. Senka meanwhile resigned herself to the fact she would have to wait. Even though she really, really wanted that fish, she knew she wouldn't be able to finish it all by herself, so it was better to wait for the smaller fish that she wouldn't have to share with anyone.

Roydon shrugged. "At that time, I went along to trade with the humans," he explained. "I wasn't about to leave Arwen alone like that. And she wanted to come."

Leyenda grinned, her eyes sparkling brightly. "I'm going to live on a ship when I grow up," she told the others, her eyes focused on the water. "I want to go everywhere, see everything!"

Lin chuckled at that, "Go everywhere hmm? Sounds familiar."

There was a thought actually, who knew after all what would happen after this trip or a few years down the road.

Leyenda grinned. "Papa told me about the trip you're going to take, and that he and Mother are going with," she told Lin. "Do you really think they would go anywhere without me?"

Suddenly she threw the spear again, and once more she came up with a rather sizable fish. This one struggled as she drew it onto the boat, and she pinned it to the floor of the boat and jammed her thumb into its eye. It stopped moving immediately, and with a grin, she tossed it into the hatch with the first one.

"Paralyzed it," she grinned at the others.

Or her possibly new little brother or sister Lin mentally added remembering that the two were trying for another child.

"You poked it's eye," Senka pointed out.

She didn't see how it could paralyze it, but then again she didn't think much in terms of how things moved.

Leyenda tilted her head at Senka. "Yeeees," she said slowly. "That's how you paralyze a fish." She didn't know how it worked, all she knew was that it did. Something about brain and ... well, she didn't particularly care about that part.

"Leyenda," Roydon called to her, "you should close the hatch when you're not putting a fish in there. They'll dry out too quickly in the sun."

Leyenda turned obediently and closed the hatch, and as she turned towards the bow of the ship again, she paused and looked at Lin. "Would you like to try it?" she asked, holding out the spear to her.
