Teagan looked down at him and smiled. For a few seconds, she was silent, deep in thought for what she could possibly sing for him that would make her sound like a country bumpkin. But, all she could find was one simple, sweet song."I love you," she said, before starting her song in the quiet of her bathroom.

Nat seemed to calm right down, his breathing matched the timing of the song as a faint, barely noticeable smile played upon his lips.
As the song neared its end, his smile grew slightly, a single tear coming to his eyes locked with hers. But this time it was a happy tear...not one of pain. "Thank you..." he seemed to mouth more than whisper since he was starting to slip back into turmoil again. He wasn't sure how many more blows his body could take, but if it meant coming clean for the woman whos lap he laid his head in...then he'd suffer for an eternity...

"Sleep, Nat... I love you."
Teagan continued brushing his hair with her fingers and smiling in that soft, brave way they'd been showing each other. Hopefully, in time, Nat would be resting peacefully as he should have been. And not in death, she told herself. He'd pull through. He just had to.

Things seemed to calm down after that. Nat managed to somehow doze off completely, though with breaks of cold sweats and incoherent mumblings occasionally.
by the time morning came, he seemed stable enough to be mostly out of the woods. He had gotten through the hard part. It was all down hill from here, with a little more physical and personality hiccups but nothing as bad as last night. He just needed to take it easy until it left his system entirely.

When morning came and lit up her bathroom, Teagan couldn't have been happier. Nat was still breathing... "Hey," she whispered to him. Every part of her felt stiff from supporting his weight, but it was alright. "How are you, babe? Think you can stand now?"

Nat's eyes flickered open as he flashed her a weak smile. "Hey yourself..." He whispered, taking a moment before trying to sit himself up. "Ah-...." He had to support himself with one arms on the floor still, rubbing his head with the other. "I think so... could I have maybe an aspirin or two? I've got this killer headache..." He requested meekly and quietly, trying hard to sit up on his own, still gripping his head, feeling a tad dizzy form the sudden blood rush.

The first thing Teagan did as he sat upright on his own was kiss him and hug him. Not too tightly, of course, but she didn't let go for a little bit for fear he might simply slip away again. "Thank you," she whispered. "All of that... thank you."
But without further ado, Teagan let him go and quickly ran out to get him the aspirin he wanted. He was still looking ragged, so she brought him a vitamin as well.

Nat faltered a tad, gathering his thoughts as she returned with the medication. "Why are you thanking me? He asked after a moment. "When I should be thanking you for all you've done...I mean..." He just shook his head in disbelief she had been by his side through all of this. He just smiled and shook his head. There was really no way to repay her properly.

After she handed him his meds, Teagan smiled and sat cross-legged in front of him. "Because all that pain and misery, just because I asked you to quit the drugs. You did that for me in some way... and I feel like it's my fault. I'm sorry, Nat..."
Once more, Teagan came forward to kiss him. He still felt weak and a bit cold, but they could get him feeling better soon enough.

Nat smiled, trying not to chuckle through the kiss, just missing the taste of her and her touch. "I should be thanking you...because I wouldn't do this for anyone else.... and I know it'll be better for me in the long run...." he smiled softly, pressing his forehead to hers.

Teagan kissed him a few more times before giving into the chuckle he held back. "As much as I love kissing you in here, the toilet kinda ruins the mood... Maybe you should shower and come back out to the couch, eh? We'll have you all set up and gettin' on the road to health again."
She would even cook them breakfast. A small one, since Nat had a sensitive stomach after all that, but one that would give him some energy just the same.

Nat smiled, still a bit out of it, but nodded. "Sounds wonderful..." He nodded, a almsot sad, yet thankful smile on his face. He seemed tired really, still very weak, but he was happy. it was obvious on his face. "I can handle myself...I'll be just a minute and I'll join you ok?" He promised, kissing her forehead sweetly before trying to get himself up more fully.

She didn't leave him until she knew he could stand up on his own, and only then did she actually feel comfortable leaving him to his own designs.
Once out and in the kitchen, Teagan began making breakfast. It also gave her time to think.
Where was this all going? He had given up his drugs for her, had gone into a state that mimicked near-death, and was taking a shower to wash away the remnants of his illness, and he still wasn't out of the water. She loved him, obviously, and he loved her... but if things didn't turn out, how could they walk away staying friends? already it was too much to just walk away from, but...
Teagan didn't know. All she could do was worry about the present, which required her cooking and some fresh blankets and pillows for the couch where he would sleep.

Nat tried not to take terribly long int the shower, but it was nice to have the water rush over him. It was as if he were washing away his old skin, the one that was dependent on a substance that was threatening his life, even before the withdrawal-- but maybe that was soemthing he shouldn't bring up now to Teagan.
No the important thing was he was alright now, and she had stuck with him through all of it. Even after he---
"Ah-" His memory was jogged. Did I hurt her? He furrowed his brow, turning the water off and grabbing a towel.
He peeked his head out of the bathroom to see if the coast was clear before making his way out, donning nothing but a towel, so he might be able to get some fresh clothes that were dripping from sweat.

Teagan was singing to herself and setting out scrambled eggs and toast when he came down fully dressed. He did look better, she thought, but not entirely so.
"Feelin' up for some food?" she asked, handing him a small plate. "Gotta try eating something before you get any thinner. I swear, I could count your ribs." Teagan gave him a playful poke and kiss before going to get her own plate.
