That form of naval burial might be fine, but that's after the bodies were tossed out the OR and left to rot on a pile before the bagger came to sew them to davy jones's locker.

In admist battle, there's no time for 'proper' ritutals. remember, chapter one happens during combat. You want to bury the dead while we're getting shot up, your call, but even a soldier should know that's damn well stupid.

The only form of naval burial I'm familiar with is on the sea in olden days. So I was unaware of how this is treated, but even a grave or off sending is some form of respect.

I'm just sentimental though.

You seen Star Trek II?
Thats a typical method of burial in Space, but Burials are reserved for when we have the time for it. At the moment we don't.

For the handful that die in your average space engagement such can be expected, but when a crew of 37,000 drops to 13,000 respect falls away and necessity takes its place. It is necessary to remove the bodies before they spread infection and disease among the remaining crew.

If it was a small number while under the Empire I'd have fired em off in cap-ship scale torpedoes, but even that will be dropped since we can't waste the torps.

Infections' not the issue, really. it's room that's the biggest concern. There's only so many doctors and nurses, and only so many beds for the critically wounded. Infection in SW is cured by a simple device in every med bay, at least externally. But a dead body sitting where a wounded one could go would be a bit tougher to worry about.

"Ugh. This is the fifth day of sausages. While I appreciate the fresh food, I gotta admit I'm getting sick of the stuff."
"I wonder where they got so much nerf sausage."
"Who knows?"

It already had 6 years worth of consumables. That just became 18.

18 years worth of food, still only 6 years worth of reactor fuel. What's the market value of 12 years worth of food for ~ 14k people?

1 Good thing about this, we'll be able to remove water consumption restrictions on ship. Everyone can take a shower!
