((TELL ME MORE! TEEELL ME MOOOORE. >: D ))
Talen shook his head when Abel apologized, but only looked on as Mei went about comforting him herself. He grinned and rubbed at the back of his head, then squinted and reddened.
"... what?" He asked in an exhalation of air, but Mei was already off without any hesitation. He watched after her and then with Abel trailed after her.
Once at their destination Talen wandered out into the yellow green scenery with his arms spread wide, palms down to brush the tops of the tall grass much like Mei. He couldn't seem to help himself. He grinned taking leaping steps. In a moment he was leaping into the air, grass skimming the bottoms of his sandals and the next he vanished in a swish and a whisper of blades of grass rubbing against each other.
((LOL. Where'd... he go...? He's like seven, I swear.))
Saul looked away briefly after Lilith looked away. "I don't know anything." He admitted and he seemed maybe embarrassed. "And you can't possibly make this any scarier for me... I mean." He did his brief sideways smile. "The idea of your brother should already have given me a good enough idea to leave, right?" And yet he still held her hand, either unaware of how cold it was, or uncaring.
"What if you ask me something... then you can tell me something...? I can't make you talk about this... but I'd like to know."
((LALALALA. MAYBE SOMETHING SHOULD HAPPEN THERE SOOOOON.. hmmm... *plots*))

Abel laughed when Talen started to leap through the field. He stayed where he was, watching the two others enjoy themselves. When Mei called him over he slowly began to go towards her.
Mei grinned after Talen when he disappeared into the grass. "You have some sort of magic? Turning invisible?" She asked playfully and looked up when Abel walked over to her. She smiled to him and he smiled back. "Okay then. You ready to start training, beautiful?"
Abel nodded slowly, unsure of all of this. "I guess...as long as..."
"No one will get hurt. Now take off your shirt. So you don't rip it up when you get your wings out." She said and Abel did as she asked him to. "Wow. Not even a hesitation. You'll make a woman happy one day." She noticed a face decline in his smile, something cross his blue eyes and she laughed. "I mean, whatever! Okay. So remember how you got them in? Just do the opposite. Close your eyes and picture them on your back."
He did so, and as easily as they went in, they came out. They spread out to their full length which was stunning in itself. Mei stared at them with what looked like jealousy and envy. "Okay..." He said quietly and folded them tight against his back.
She nodded and walked behind him. "Now then. You'll want to just forget all of your troubles, they won't help you here. Flying is about freedom, freedom from earth and any of its chains. If that means forgetting even us, do that. Just picture yourself at home...picture the beauty around you, the sense of perfection and warmth. Do it." She put her hands to his back, coaxing him softly into that world. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to wipe his mind clean, block out all his senses that would hold him back. It was hard...extremely hard. His brows tensed and Mei could feel his muscles bunch. She let out a sigh. "I know it's hard. But you have to. After you do this, you won't really have to think twice when you fly again."
Mei began to describe everything he should picture in a soft, tender voice that would easily put any baby to sleep. Abel's face relaxed and his wings folded away from his back slowly. She nodded as he relaxed and she let go of his back, taking a few steps away. After a few minutes of silence, and his unwinding, she spoke again. "Now. Push up, as if you were jumping...but not as forceful. Remember to connect with your wings as if they were your arms or legs. They will be the ones working."
He bent his knees, eyes still closed. His long, pure white wings stretched outward, preparing. And he pushed up.
((OMG WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?! CLIFFHANGER! Lol. Also that was way longer than it had to be.))
Lilith snorted and shook her head. "I don't know anything either." She said, though it was obvious that was lie, maybe she hoped he'd stop inquiring. Yet something inside of her wanted to just tell him everything about her, even the bad...which was almost everything about her anyways. Her eyes moved back to him when he made his proposal and she raised a brow.
"You're right. I probably can't do any more damage than he already has. Your mind is probably destroyed by him." She said, what seemed to be a joke, yet with her emotionless face and monotone voice, it was hard to tell. "Okay then. Let me think of something..." She said and became silent, which wasn't that hard for her. She blinked and looked back to him.
"Why did you ever get involved with us? With my brother I mean. Why? I can never understand why anyone ever gets into him. I just can't wrap my mind around it. Even I, his sister, wouldn't have voluntarily gone up to him, and I even know some good aspects to him."
((YEAH! EXPLAIN YOURSELF, LOSER! I dunno...haha. It's like 20 questions or something! How adorable.))

((MY TURN.))
Talen laughed from somewhere beneath the line of tall grass. "That would be an awesome skill... Talen... master of mystery. Invisible in very tall grass!" He exclaimed. "I... I don't even know where I am..." There was a rustling through the grass and the top of his head and just the top of his eyes peered at the pair. His eyes smiled. "Oh. Right here." And he fell back again and onto his back.
He listened to the two converse and laughed at Mei's remarks and then stared thoughtfully at passing clouds at her instruction of how to take flight. He felt himself sigh and watch the wind stir the grass above him. Only when Abel was just about to take flight did he stand up, hands on his hips, grinning an encouraging and excited smile.
"You can do it, Abel!" He called across to him, hands cupped around his mouth and he added a great jubilant whoop.
((WILL HE MAKE IT?! WIIIILL HEEE... I need to be going to bed. hahahah. you keep me up alll niiight looongggg.))
Saul gave her his fleeting smiling at her maybe joke, though he seemed to read it as much. He rubbed at the hair in his face and gave a sighing form of a laugh, an exhalation of air that shuddered slightly.
"Remember that next time I want to ask you something, huh?" And then he waited as she was silent and then listened in his thoughtful way, eyes distant but ears rapt. He didn't seem surprised by her question, but there was still a way he suddenly stood that made him look ashamed.
"It's..." He started and then thinned out his mouth. "I guess from the outside... it's... no, even I know, have always known, how stupid it was." He frowned, and seemed to watch the skyline. A slowly awkward smile tilted his mouth. "I guess some people just get to a point in their lives when you got nothing left. Uh..." He seemed uncomfortable. "I... I guess I thought I was one of those people, and Cain he... he gave me something. Nothing good, but it was something."
"I've always been afraid of Cain, but I got to a point where nothing he could have done could have hurt me. I had nothing. What did it matter? I think he knew that, and that's why he came to me... and that's why I ever said yes. Talen too, but..." He twitched his eyes at the scenery uncomfortably, but seemed only to just able to meet Lilith's eyes.
"It's not really like that anymore, I guess." He walked quietly for a moment before asking his own question: "Why are you and Cain here?"
((DUN. DUN... I need to sleep XD))

((Haha I don't know how I'm going to do this without making it REALLY lame. We'll see. Haha. Flying in itself, the description, is so...I dunno.))
Mei looked to Talen when he appeared out of the grass and cheered Abel on. She laughed freely and shook her head. "Don't break his concentration!" She said playfully before realizing that Abel was no longer in front of her. Her eyes lifted and smiled proudly. Abel still had his eyes closed, but he was high above them. She figured the reason he was so high was because he wasn't looking. If he opened his eyes, she had reason to believe, he'd fall. He'd probably panic. His wings were strangely still, as if hovering.
Then Mei realized if he went any higher, he'd probably get hurt at the fall he'd witness when coming down. "ABEL! Open your eyes. Don't. PANIC. I know you will, but try not to fall, okay?!" She yelled at him.
Abel slowly opened his eyes, everything was small, and suddenly he felt sick. He wobbled, dropping a good few feet. He tried to balance himself, his wings flapping hard to stop his fall, and he did slow down. But not enough to keep from landing on his butt with a decent amount of force. When he was on the ground, he leaned over, stomach churning. "Uuuuhh." Was all he managed to get out. Mei knelt down beside him and rubbed his back, hoping to calm his stomach.
"You did well for your first time. Gravity is a b***h ain't it?" She laughed and smacked his back. He lurched forward, groaning. "Oh. Sorry." She stood up and put a hand to his curly head. "Just keep trying. You'll get it eventually." At this notion, he turned pale and looked up at her. "What? You need to learn. How else are you going to protect your tan, built, handsome, hunky friend?" She sent Talen a smirk. "Then we can learn more things."
"L...like wh...what?" Abel stammered, still imagining how high he had been. He could have died,or at least been hurt to the point of feeling like dieing...again.
"I dunno what you can do. All angels have different 'gifts'. I didn't have time to talk to Gabe in detail about yours. But we'll find out what they are."
((Hahaha. Are you flirting Mei?! How sinful! And also, we can skip the flying part now...cause that's boring.))
Lilith expected his answer. That what they always said. Cain seemed to attract the people who were lost. Who thought everything in life was not for them, nothing left for them to care about. Those people gravitated towards someone with power and leadership. She had seen so many come and go. Her eyes looked to her feet and then up.
"It better not be like that anymore." She said when he went quiet. "Or I'll kill you before he can." She said, face as serious as ever. When he asked his question, she looked away, silent. "I don't know." She said, then thought better of just sprouting lie after lie.
"I ran away." She looked up and over to him. "I ran away, which is probably the worst thing I could have done, but I did it, and I can't really turn back time. Cain came with me. He's always had this notion I can't take care of myself. I told him to stay, but his hard head wouldn't listen, so he came with me." She dropped her gaze and shrugged. "I guess in some way I am glad he came. As much as I can hate him sometimes...he...I don't know how to explain it. He's my brother. I guess whatever he does I'll always want him somewhere where I can get to him when I need him." She went silent again, not posing a question for Saul this time. Instead she waited for the next question, which she expected he'd have more.

((JUST WARNING YOU NOW. My posting will probably be on and off again... I have two finals this week and a photo project due... so yeah... I'm going to be busy. NOT TO MENTION I HAAAVE WOOORK.
Good grief. Summer vacation hurry up and get here D:< ))
Talen stared up at Abel with a slight grin, most of it was shocked off his face by the sheer standing moment of Abel caught in the air, wings out stretched. He stood back, hands on his hips. He had seen Abel only once before in the air, and at that point, he hadn't been really flying, but falling.
It didn't take long for Abel to revisit this same action. Talen ran and stumbled forward, maybe thinking he could catch him and once Abel landed hard on his back end Talen realized just how stupid it was he was running around with his arms out. He laughed and crouched down beside him as Mei comforted him.
"You did good." He put in. "Better than I can do." He grinned and then looked up at Mei, instantly red in the face at her remark. He gave an awkward laugh but was obviously flattered. He cleared his throat. "Yeah."
At the mention of angel's having a gift Talen perked up. "But what about what you did to Cain...? When you got all..." He waved his hands vaguely. "Blue and glowy."
((YEAH. WHAT ABOUT THAT ABEL? HUUUH? WHAT ABOUT THAT... OKAAAY.))
"It's definitely not like that anymore." He said seriously, even if she had been joking about it. He gave her hand a squeeze. "I've got something now."
And then he waited for her answer and once it was given he watched her face carefully. "But what were you running away from?" He asked quietly.
((LALALA. okay... short... but... yeah XD))

((Haha it's quite alright. Just think about it this way, you're just getting rid of those three things and will never have to worry about them again! I'm trying to be an optimist...
But yeah, don't worry. I understand. I always do. ;] ))
Abel smiled a bit when he saw Talen crouch down beside him. Then laughed when he blushed at Mei's comment. It was obvious Mei was trying to envoke Talen, to make him embarrassed, to flirt with him. He didn't know her well enough to truly say, but he had a feeling she did it often.
His smile faded when Talen mentioned that unfortunate night. Something like disgust seemed to sweep over his face for a second before he looked to Mei who was raising one brow curiously. "I don't...I don't think that was anything. I don't even remember any of that." He said and then changed the subject quickly. "I need to practice flying more." He stood up quickly, a little too quickly. He put a hand to his forehead and steadied himself.
"Huh." Mei said which caused Abel to look at her worriedly.
"What?" He asked tensely.
"I was just thinking you look stunning without a shirt." She put her hand to his stomach and felt the soft abs. They were there, but not to the point of looking weird on his lean frame. "If you just walked around like this girls would swoon all over you." She moved her hand to his chest and then laughed, pulling away.
Abel gave a sigh of relief, though his cheeks were pink. She didn't bring up what Talen had said...
"And after you finish flying practice, we'll look into Talen's idea."
"But. Really. I don't remember what he's talking about."
Mei watched him and she glanced at Talen. "Let's just get flying down okay? Don't think about the rest yet, otherwise you'll NEVER learn to stay in the air...or move in it for that matter." She smacked his stomach playfully and he screwed his face in embarrassment. "Go on, get up there again. And this time, don't worry about falling. One of us will catch you this time. Just...think like you're in an airplane."
"A what?"
"An airplane."
"What's that?"
Mei sighed heavily and smiled. "Just don't freak out, okay?"
((Lalala. I think Abel would have a heart attack if he rode in an airplane.))
Lilith heard the question she had just been thinking, come from Saul's mouth and she loosened her grip on his hand. Now it was only him doing the holding. She didn't know how to explain it without sounding like she was crazy.
"I'm running away from Hell." She said simply. She knew that could be taken in any kind of way, which was what she was going for. She'd let him interpret that in whatever way he wanted. She hoped he'd take it figuratively instead of literally. Her mouth didn't open again as she continued to walk. A slight breeze picked up, tossing her hair around her face eerily, like a movie scene.
"Do you know where we are?" She finally asked as she came to a stop. They had been walking for quite a while, without taking notice of signs or roads. Now they were in a place she felt wasn't entirely safe.

((OMG. I'M GOING TO POST. I HAVE ONE THING LEFT FOR SKOOLIO. A final crit! THEN I'M DONE.
Hahah, and oh yeah... Monday next week I'm leaving for Turkey for a month :X... I dunno if I mentioned that to you. BUT I'M BRINGING MY COMPUTER. So... YEAH! WOOO!))
Talen frowned a little at the way Abel responded to his remark about what had happened not too long ago. He opened his mouth to maybe something more about it, but for once shut his tactless mouth and stood back, arms over his chest. He grinned slightly at Mei's teasings.
"I don't think he needs any help with the ladies." He put in. "Just about over half the female population at my school is in love with him. Who will be left for me, Mei, if he takes his shirt off? WHO I ASK YOU?" And he laughed.
He caught her eye when she glanced at him. He shook his head a little and gave a subtle shrug of his shoulders. "Later." Is what he mouthed.
Talen then patted his friend encouragingly, but gently on his back. "I wanna see you up there again." He laughed. "It's really... I don't know. It makes me feel good to watch. Like... light." He shook his head a little and urged him forward, falling back to stand beside Mei. He pumped his fists in the air. "Let's some action! A BARREL ROLL."
((hahah, he can talk about it with Mei D:<<< MAYBE SHE WILL KNOW SOMETHING.
Action tiiimeee for Saul and Lilith. OH GOD.))
At Lilith's answer he wasn't sure how to react, or how to interpret it. He stared steadily ahead, and then to his hand still clasping her own limp hand in his. He didn't know exactly what answer he had expected, but even if it had been the one she had uttered, it still felt unreal. He had only ever understood his own mortal life, and any life beyond that... he wasn't sure at all.
However, he was sure, more than anything, that he knew exactly what she meant in a figurative sense. Hadn't he been living his own life the same way? There had been nights when he found himself knocking at Talen's back door, begging for a place to stay. In times so bad he found himself on his friend's couch for a week, slipping quietly in and out of existence and wondering just what it was he was meant to be doing in this time of his life.
He still wasn't entirely too sure, but felt firmer and altogether alive with Litlih's hand in his own. Tugging her hand to his face he kissed her fingers without a word, eyes shut gently.
When they finally came to a stop Saul looked around and took in his surroundings. They were in a mostly empty place, a deserted lot with piles of shattered glass and tufts of strangles grass. One could hear the ocean distantly and smell it in everything.
He grinned slowly and nodded, but when he opened his mouth to speak it was not his voice that came first. A wall of heat singed from behind them, blistering Saul's back and blackening his blonde hair.
"What's this?" Cane's voiced growled. A wave of heat blurred his form. "You getting nice and cosy with my sister there, Saul?" He seemed to be grinning, but his teeth were clenched hatefully, his face contorted with rage. "Didn't you learn after the FIRST TIME I TORE YOU A PART?" He shouted suddenly, and quite quickly Saul was dangling from the end of his fist, flames licking at his forearm and scorching the blonde's pale face.
Saul remained perfectly expressionless, hands limp at his sides. "I guess not." He said in a raspy voice. He winced a little as his cheeks burned. "You always said I was stupid, didn't you?" He was surprised by his own bravery, and by the fact he was not at all afraid by Cane's rage.
Cane might have laughed then, a sort of quivering twitch at the corners of his mouth. "I came back to forgive you, Lil... but I don't know now. What are you DOING with this...?!" And he shook Saul violently and then held him still. "I DON'T WANT YOU MESSING WITH MY SISTER!"
Saul moved his hands to grasp at Cane's hand, ignoring how it scorched his fingers. "You knew how I felt about her." He replied feebly. "It was one of the reasons I joined up with you. You knew."
Cane flared in a burst of flame. "But I never thought she would TAKE YOU! You CAN'T BE WITH HER! Why, Lilith?!" He wanted to know, eyes hard and demanding. "I want to know before I kill him."
((hahaha, he's so upset.))

((Congratulations! And yeah you most definitely told me! I am MOST excited for you! Haha. I'll imagine myself there...out of the country for the first time in my life...in spirit anyways. :] ))
Abel sighed a bit at Talen and Mei as they teased him. "They were just being nice..." He said softly, cheeks turning pink. He would like to think they were being polite, not attracted to him. It was a way to make himself more in the background. Out of habit he would make himself believe certain things to make the situation comfortable.
"I'll be left." Mei said simply, staring at Talen seriously before bursting out into laughter and waving a hand. "Yeah. I sure will. Always have been. How kinda depressing is that?" She looked to Abel as he watched the two of them and she shrugged. "You'll find someone one day Abel. And they will love you not just for your good looks, but your delightful soul as well." At her words she noticed a look cross the boy's face that she felt uneasy about. It was strange, to feel uneasy around the guy, but she did. After a moment Abel looked away at Talen's encouraging pat and he broke in a smile.
"Well...when you put it that way..." He said and laughed a little as he walked a little into the distance to start trying again. "And I have no barrels to really...roll...as you say." He looked over his shoulder, confused, smiled, and looked away again.
Mei crossed her arms in the manner of a mother watching her son play on the playground, and watched Talen for a moment. "I worry about him..."
((Do you now? Huh.))
Lilith studied Saul as he thought over her answer. No matter what her answer, the fact she was running away from something dangerous in itself should have been enough to send Saul away. In fact, just having Cain as a brother should have done that ages ago. It happened no matter who was after her, once Cain was in the picture, they high-tailed it. Saul had stayed though, and somehow she admired him for that.
As Saul lifted her hand she looked at their fingers. The feel of his warm lips against her cold hands. The gentle way he did everything made Lilith wish she could feel what he did even more. She wanted to understand why he did those subtle things, holding her, kissing her, saying sweet nothings. Her lids dropped slightly when he looked around them, not realizing how much she was thinking about nonsense dreams. She wasn't to feel anything, ever, wishing she could wasn't going to change it.
"You can hear the ocean." She said under her breath. "The last time I went there was when..." She trailed off as she felt a heat start to grow behind them, and that all too known feeling enter her veins like her body was trying to equip itself before the tide came. "Damn." She said loudly and flatly just as Cain's voice broke over the subtle sound of waves.
Lilith turned around, withdrawing her hand from Saul's and pushing her bangs from her eyes. She stood still, almost lazily, when her brother lifted Saul into the air and started to yell. Only when he mentioned forgiveness did Lilith raise a brow and prop open her mouth.
"Did you seriously just say that? God. Here I thought I was the one who had forgiveness to dole out to you, not the other way." She moved closer to the two. "Put him down. It's my fault. I could stop him...but I didn't, I let him." She said, voice as monotone as ever, but still strangely beautiful. At her brother's question she closed her mouth and seemed confused for a split second. Her hazel-green eyes looked at Saul and back to Cain.
"Why?" She put her fingers to her lips, breath coming out in puffs of condensation. "I guess because he got me the closest to feeling something than anyone else has gotten me...ever." Her eyes stayed on Cain and she put a hand on his arm.
"Put him down."

(( hahaha, IT'S BEST IN SPIRIT.... REALLY. You'll get to go out of the country ooone daaaaay. OOOOONE DAAAAY MY PRINCE WILL- I'm done.))
Talen chuckled. "No barrels to roll... hilarious." He grinned and then looked back to Mei. His smile slowly fell away to reflect her own expression.
"Is there..." He rubbed at the back of his neck. "Something wrong with him?" Talen wanted to know, positive he wasn't using the right words. "When he... back there... with Cain. I think he lost himself... I didn't know what..." He licked his lips and looked away. "I dunno how to really put it, but something happened. I... I'm worried about him too." He laughed uncomfortably, maybe to shake loose the feeling that had gripped him so suddenly.
"He's like my brother, you know? I wanted to beat the s**t out of Cain... but I can't... and I don't know how to deal with it... but I want to help him SO badly, Mei. And I know I can't." He looked at her and grinned a sad smile, eyebrows drawn together. "I don't even... I can at least tell you what happened definitely wasn't normal. He touched Cain and it burned him. I mean, the guy is made of like LIVING FIRE, and Abel burned HIM." He ran his hands through his hair, grinning his still uncomfortable smile. "What's that mean?"
((Hopefully that's enough to work with!))
There was something in his sister's coolness that always made Cain's rage seem so foolish. His tempered flared briefly in frustration at her cool manner, her lack of reaction to his rage, but as always he seemed to cool off. His flame settled and created a dark smoke that made Saul cough a little.
"YOU'RE THE ONE WHO SHOULD BE ASKING FOR MY FORGIVENESS!" He tried to say over her. "I'm your BROTHER! I've done nothing but take care of you... and you're here.. with..." He trailed off, teeth clenched. He snarled and glared at Saul as if it was all his fault, and he was certain in the very depths of his fiery heart it was all Saul's fault.
"You LET HIM? Let him WHAT?" He demanded, and flames flared from his fist again. Saul shut his eyes and just breathed knowing anything he said could only have made matters worse and the fact he trusted Lilith to do what was right. He must have... made you." Cain said in a child's voice.
At her response he seemed very put out. He watched her avidly, as if he might turn out a lie by searching her expressionless face. Finding nothing he roved his angry eyes back onto Saul, his gaunt face red from the heat and his eyes still shut. "You..." He started, that same fire building around him, but like an exhalation of breath it vanished as soon as Lilith touched his arm.
Cain lowered Saul so his feet were once again flat on the ground, but he did not release him. He shut his eyes tightly and clenched his free hand into a tight, white knuckled fist. "You can't DO this, Lilith. It isn't RIGHT." He said. "What are you trying to PROVE? Are you... you're going against your own NATURE." He seemed frustrated.
Saul opened his eyes and for some reason felt deeply sorry for Cain. "Cain." He said in his quiet voice.
"DON'T." He shouted and turned to his sister. "Just what are you trying to prove! You can't DO THIS. They'll find you. How long do you expect this to LAST! I HATE HIM." He shouted at Saul. "I hate you."
((hahahahahah, He's like. seven. Shhhh, Cain. shhhhh. *burps him* I THINK SOMEONE NEEDS A NAP.
I've never had a character like that before. SO IT'S KINDA AMAZING FUN.))

((I suppose so. I SUPPOSE so. Hahaha.))
Mei frowned as Talen spoke. She quietly looked away to see Abel taking a few deep breaths in the distance, preparing himself for another flight. She smiled at the sight. He probably would never get rid of that childish exuberance he always carried with him. There was just something about him that made anyone who knew him, protective. He seemed to innocent and ignorant to the world, yet Mei knew he wasn't quite what he portrayed. He was wiser than he looked.
"Something is wrong with everyone I think. With you and me and anyone else we meet. We can't be perfect." She rubbed at her chin in thought and looked at Talen when she felt his frustration. She narrowed her eyes in a sensitive way and licked her lips when the young man told her he wanted to help his friend but couldn't.
"If anyone can help Abel, I would say it's you." She watched Abel push up from the ground, large wings outspread as he got higher, she noticed a smile on his face. "There have been angels that are different than any others. They are born for their life after death. They have gifts before they even die that enables them to protect humans. These gifts, however, can end up doing more wrong than good. I don't know the criteria for choosing who ends up with the gifts. But they sometimes choose people who can't...handle it. Abel already had trouble just living normally. Add these gifts into the equation and instead of gifts they become curses.
"I've seen one case like him before. A long time ago. The angel was sweet and gentle, like Abel, but she was also sensitive. She couldn't handle the pressure and the power. Eventually...she became..." Mei paused and changed her gaze to Talen with a look of worry. "She became destructive. She just kind of...caved in. She had no one like you though. She broke and the only thing we could do was banish her." She dropped her eyes and rubbed her face a bit. "I can see her in Abel. The way Abel sometimes retreats or avoids things...I can see that sense of being lost and confused...trapped in ways. Gabriel's seen it too. He thinks that Abel being here, with you, might help him get stronger and find something else to hold onto, something besides the past."
At that time she looked up again to see Abel gone. Her heart jumped and she turned around, feeling relieved to see him in the distance, then coming back towards them. "You can help him. So don't be so down on yourself. Sometimes the most help someone can do for another is to simply love them...to care for them. Showing someone the good in life, that it's worth protecting, that there are truly good people in the world, that the best thing you can do for someone." She smiled weakly over to Talen. "You don't need to have super powers to be a hero. It's cheesy, I know, but possibly the most true statement I've heard before."
((You're so LAME Mei. Get new lines.))
When Cain let Saul down, Lilith let go of his arm and kept her eyes on him. "I'm not trying to prove anything. I've never tried to prove anything. What nature are you talking about? I find no nature in me. That's nature." She pointed at Saul. "That's how we are supposed to be. Normal. We're suppose to feel pain and sadness and happiness...and love." Her eyes darkened and she pursed her lips.
"I don't care if they find me anymore. I'll be okay if they find me, I've had some feeling. I felt something, even if it was really tiny...I'm sure it was feeling. And I felt it when I was with him. Just try to understand. He's never done anything to me...or you...or anyone. So why do you hate him so much? Just because I want him with me? That's ridiculous, and you know it."

((I'm going to trrrry and post to this. I'M RUSTY D: ))
Talen had been shifting uncomfortably, his gaze averted and his hand slowly rubbing the back of his neck. He looked oddly ashamed, or embarrassed. It wasn't often he spoke to anyone in this way. He wasn't the kind of guy to lay out his feelings and make himself look vulnerable. Even with his sister he was always trying to be strong for her, even when he knew his sister knew he wasn't always.
However one single sentence brought his face up, a smile pulling at the corners of his mouth.
"If anyone can help Abel, I would say it's you."
When she had finished compltely he wiped at his mouth, eyebrows furrowed. "Wow." He said. "That was probably the corniest thing I've ever heard." He laughed and before she could maybe respond negatively put a hand on her shoulder. "But I really needed that." He said almost under his breath.
Squeezing her shoulder once, maybe for him, maybe for her. He might have wanted to ask her further about the other angel she had been speaking about, but turned to greet Abel instead. Maybe another time.
"Alright! How was it this time, my man? Rough landing?" He squinted up at the sky, wondering what that might have felt like briefly and then grinned back at his friend.
((ALRIGHT. YOU CAN DO IT, ALEX. YOU IS ON A ROLL.
Hahaha, I'm cheering myself on. I'm so cool.))
Saul stood very still as Cain's fist still gripped him tightly by his shirt front. He raised his hands gently, hovering them just so close to the hand the held him fast. Cain was uncoiling, his whole body becoming slacker.
Saul was familiar with this posture, because he had done it so many times before himself. Cain was deeply sad.
"Love." He spat, his words like a hiss, a fire that didn't have the energy to burn anymore. He seemed more wounded than he should have been at her final words. "But I'm your BROTHER. This is just... he's just some human."
"You're right." Saul said suddenly, surprisingly clear. "I don't understand why she wants to be with me either." He laughed, and very lightly placed his hands over Cain's. "But I..."
"Don't." He said.
"I love her." He finished.
Cain jerked away from him, throwing his hands away from himself. "Shut up."
Saul stumbled back and took a deep breath. "I do." His smile shivered.
"Fine." Cain finally said to his sister. "If this is what you want. I've NEVER been able to change you. I only wanted to keep you safe! You can keep this life. I won't be a part of it." And with that he turned and walked away. "You may think you can be something you're not, but when they come you'll see how fast you'll remember!"
((BUM BUM BUM. Sounds ominous. Hahaha, Cain, why can't we all just be friends? Why do you have to be a jealous, stubborn baby?! GEESH. You're like seven, I SWEAR.))

Mei smirked and gave a simple shrug. "I figured. Just because it's corny, doesn't mean it's not true." She turned her eyes to Abel who had just landed a little ways away...and not too gracefully. His feet came down with a thud and then he rocked a bit, trying to get balance, his wings shifting awkwardly before he fell forwards and landed on his face into the earth. Mei gave a snort of laughter and she walked over to him.
Abel groaned and started to push himself up as Mei knelt down in front of him. "Hi..." He said with a sheepish smile. He grabbed a hold of Mei's hand and pulled himself up. He cracked his back and shoulders with a pop and looked over to Talen. Mei was still watching Abel, a good head and a half shorter than him, but still somehow at the same level.
"Uh...it was still scary..." He said, swallowing as he walked to Talen, rubbing his cheek where dirt clung from his collision with the ground. He made a face and rubbed it all away, obviously not liking the dirt. "But...it felt good. Scary but good. Which makes no sense, but that's how it felt." He laughed a bit and began to fix his hair to the best of his ability. "What were you two doing?"
"Just chatting, ya know...the usual." Mei smiled at him and he gave her a curious look. "We were. What else could we be doing?"
Abel looked to Talen as if for a second opinion before he noticed Mei turn away and breath out loudly. "What's wrong?" Abel began before he looked over Mei's head and saw what she was looking at. A tall, dark skinned figure was standing in the distance, coming closer. "Oh no..."
"What does he want? I'm doing what he told me!" Mei said in frustration as Gabriel came closer. Her frustration seemed to melt away as Abel walked past Mei quickly. "Something's wrong..." She whispered to Talen.
(( Oh no. D: Wheeee. I figured we'd make something exciting happen...))
Lilith remained calm. She watched Cain with her cool green eyes. She didn't respond to him, try to explain herself, she knew whatever she said, he'd just push it back and continue to be angry. The only way she ever could get through to Cain was let him be...let it sink in the hard way. He always had to do things the hard way.
Her eyes flickered to Saul when he said he loved her. She flinched a bit at the words and quickly looked back to Cain. At his next words she felt her jaw tighten and she shook her head. "Change ME? What are you trying to change? To be like you? To be a miserable, hot-headed, stuck up, son of a b***h?" She said, voice rising, laced with ice. "You've got everything wrong, brother." She said the last word with an especially cold tone.
"Yeah, just walk away, like you've always done. You always just walk away from the obvious. When they DO come, I'll remember, that's for sure, remember why we left in the first place." She said to her brother's slowly vanishing figure. She breathed out, a fog of condensation disappearing into the air. Turning she rubbed her forehead and closed her eyes.
"I can't stand him sometimes."
((UHHHH SOMETIMES?! Try ALL THE TIME. She's got SOME patience...that's for sure.))

((Hahaha, I missed this D: ))
Talen laughed a little at his landing, but in a good natured way. He folded his arms across his chest in attempts to stifle it and rubbed at his face. "Oh man... perfect. A plus plus, check plus plus." He laughed again and added: "Gold star."
He grinned easily at his response. "Things that scare you are sometimes good, huh? Kinda like... roller coasters... I dunno, flying would probably be a bit scarier. Not that I could really tell you from personal experience." He gripped one of Abel's wings and gave it a gentle tug. "Feather butt."
Talen got a sly look at Abel's next question. He waggled his eyebrows behind Mei's back when Abel looked to him for a better answer. He turned his back and did a fabulous impression of making out with a stranger that oddly had the same arms as him. However, he stopped in the middle of this to look on with the rest of his friends at Abel's remark.
"What does..." He started, trailing off and then squinted. "Hey. It's Gabe." Talen didn't seem to feel the same negative pressure that Mei was dealing with. "a** hole is probably here to hit on my sister." He said under his breath, but the way he insulted him sounded like a grudging respect.
Raising his arms, because he was sure neither person around him would, he waved the angel down. "MISS ME?" He called.
((theeere!))
Saul would admit he was quite relieved when Cain left. There was still a place in him that only felt sorry for Lilith's brother, but it was a very small place that didn't cause him much discomfort when he saw the back of him. He grinned at Lilith, looking somehow breathless and pale. He looked like he might have just gone for a long run.
"You're always saving my a**, aren't you?" He laughed a little, a breathy noise. Slowly he sank into a sit and rubbed at the places where he had been burned. "Think he'll be back?" Saul turned to look after him for a bit and then shook his head. "Don't care."
He raised his face to look at her, his smile twitching as though it might vanish in any moment. "Hey. You know. You don't have to... say you love me. Alright? It's enough." He waved his hands. "This is enough."
He sat for a moment more, seeming to bring himself together. "We should find everyone else..." He said off handedly.
((hahaha, i dunno why he felt like he had to say that. I think it might have been because she winced. OH SAUL. YOU'RE SO ADORABLE... and a push over. I should have named hi Matt. Like... people walk all over him. LOLOLOL. I'm hilarious. KAY. DONE.))

((UH. ME TOO. I am so proud of you my love. :]))
Abel got closer to Gabriel, stopping as the tall man came in front of him. He had looked better. His dark, blackish skin seemed washed out and his eyes were darker than their usual pure blue. His shoulders were sagging, instead of stoic and straight, and his head was lowered. He looked up as Abel came near and he made a worried face. Something that caused Abel's stomach to drop. He had never seen Gabriel worried, perhaps concerned in a protective manner...but never truly worried or...tired looking.
Abel was silent as Gabriel watched him before those tired, aged eyes looked up as Talen called to him. Abel felt like he was watching an ancient, weathered man, trapped inside a younger man's body. It made him feel out of place.
Gabriel made no show of talking back to Talen to reply in a smart manner, but instead looked to Mei. The two of them seemed to exchange some unspoken conversation, for Mei put a hand to her head and closed her eyes, swallowing heavily and making a choking sound. She let go and looked to Talen. "I don't think it's a good time to be cracking jokes."
"What...what's wrong?" Abel finally spoke, voice rising in anxiety. "You look awful." he said it so matter-of-fact that any normal person would have taken offense. When Gabriel said nothing Abel put a hand on his shoulder, staring in his eyes. "Tell me what's wrong."
"I should have seen." Gabriel said suddenly and Abel narrowed his eyes. "It wasn't normal to send you here. I just was talked into thinking it would be for your benefit."
Abel didn't like where this was heading. He took a step back and smiled as his natural defense to anything spiritual exhausting or hurtful. "I don't understand..."
"You're not safe here..." Gabriel said and Abel laughed. "Stop that. I am not just saying it because I feel it anymore. I KNOW it. I've seen..."
"You're just worried I can't make it. But look, I learned to fly...and I've protected myself and even Talen too. I'm safe." Abel smiled and turned around, even though his insides were twisting and burning. "I can stay." He flinched when Gabriel grabbed his arm and turned him back around. His eyes widened at the intensity in the older angel's eyes. "I won't-"
"Abel. It's Hans."
((What? What's going on Gabie? Tell us!))
Lilith watched Saul sit down. "Yeah. I am. But I got nothin' better to do, now do I?" She said and sat down next to him, silent as he spoke to her about love. She was glad he thought what he did. She couldn't say those words. She felt it would be a lie to say them. Love was a foreign concept to her, to say she loved him would be like saying she knew the answer to why they existed. It was something she didn't know or understand. She couldn't even feel sadness, so how could she feel love? Sure she was drawn to him, but it was based on how HE felt...not how she did. If she said any of what she had just thought, it would hurt him. So instead she just nodded and looked to him.
"We should. We've been gone a long time." She said and fluffed her hair a bit before standing back up. "Let's just see if we can find our way back." She held out a hand to him to help him up. "Maybe they'll have something to eat, I'm hungry."
((When is she not?))

((AW YEAH. YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T GOING TO! BUT I'M TRYING TO DO ONE EVERY DAY. FO' REALZ.))
Talen couldn't have been as sensitive to Gabriel's mood as the others around him, but seeing him made him drop his arms, as well as his smile. He stood back, frowning. The more Gabriel spoke, the less he liked what was going on.
He moved forward to grip his friend by his shoulder, maybe for comfort but his expression was confused. "Hans?" He said looking around for someone to explain the meaning of this name to him. "What's happened? Drop this bullshit horror act and spit it out." He probably didn't mean that as harsh as he said it, in fact, his voice was more fearful than anything.
((hahahaha, Talen is so out of the loop.))
Saul gave a flicker of a smile at her nod. He rubbed at his neck briefly seemingly lost in how own thoughts, but then looked up at her again. "I'm sure you'll know the way." He frowned, looking around as he took her hand and was pulled to his feet. "Or maybe..." And then he laughed. "Yeah. Maybe something to eat."
And with that, Saul did his best to lead the way home.
((TRA LALALALAAL. LA. LALAALA. YAAAAAAY. Saul is crispy :9 Maybe Lilith should just eat him.))
