"All right, smart a**, what's your theory?"

Marten smirked. "At least you finally admit that I'm smart. "I'm thinkin, each ring is set with a preset design. As in, the ring that had the machine gun has the machine gun, and no other option. That would be why it didn't change to a different weapon to match Michael's...'differing' intelligence. What it does rely on, however, is the user's ability to fully materialize and utilize the ring, which is why Michael was able to fire it and you weren't. "Point is, it clearly doesn't have to do with intellect."

"I'm still smarter." Jacobo mumbled. He listened politely as Marten tried his theory, "Uh huh, then how do the weapons get in the rings? And did you notice how the other people didn't really notice the weapons? They could just be imaginary as well as that monster too. We could just be have some sort of implants that messes with our minds or something like that. Or we could just be on a group trip."

Marten sighed and rubbed his face. "That's the part that's got me. Implants sound like a logical theory, although maybe we're looking at group dementia. But wait, I've never read about group dementia..." He shrugged and took a bite of his sandwich. "Whatever," he mumbled around it. "The point is, it's happening and that's it. Accept it and move forward, that's my way." With another shrug, he turned away and began to ignore them.

"Group dementia isn't too far out of the realm of reality, it could also be some sort of mass hypnosis." He paused, unwilling to accept it as is. He needed to figure it out.
"Or I could be dreaming, that's always possible. God! I just hope nada's wrong with my head."

"I think the problem is that nada's all that's in your head," Martin joked wickedly. "Anyways, we need to get moving." He took a last bite of his sandwich and put what was left back in its paper and bag.

((The problem is I'm reluctant to violate this universe's canon plotline but I would HAVE TO if I were to give you guys a decent story. It's not like 27 where the canon is very loosely established and I actually don't have a concrete canon ending.))
