Rhea nodded, and her chin trembled slightly once more. It wasn't as if she had made a conscious decision to like it ... she just couldn't help it. But it wasn't an altogether new lesson for her either ...
"I killed a tree one time," she whispered, eyes still downcast. "I didn't want to ... I just wanted it to be pretty ... but then the snow came, and it wasn't ready for the snow anymore, and it cracked right in half and fell over ..."
She looked up at Kara then, her young eyes filled with determination - mixed with desperation. "I have to learn how to control it!"

"I know," Kara replied softly, "Which is why we're going to try something else."
She reached out and brushed a bit of Rhea's hair away, Kara couldn't help it, she probably did it enough with the more 'difficult' students she had, had in the past.
"It's called a manifest excerise, it uses the basics of meditation, but we're going going to use a small bit," she showed with her fingers, "of magic."

Rhea blinked at Kara, not even flinching when the angel brushed her hair away from her face.
"How do we do that?" she asked, her curiosity overcoming her shame momentarily. "Whenever I try using it it all comes at once ... I can't stop it no matter how hard I try ..."

"Well...." Kara held out her hands and cupped them as if she was trying to hold water, "Imagine your hands like a bowl, and you want to fill that bowl..."
She keep a close eye on her hands, because for her it was easier for her to see what she was doing in this case.
"But like water, you have to be careful, you don't want to over spill, so only a bit... like a trickle from a pitcher... and you imagine yourself filling your hands, or your bowl...."
Kara's hands glowed softly, a light blue until it turned white, sparkles filled her hands as light swirled around, because Kara's alignment had always been closer to light and to wind... unlike Miyu's who was closer to ice and water.

Rhea stared in amazement at the glowing sparkles in Kara's hands, and she had to fight to resist the urge to reach forward and try to poke at them and see what they were.
"What are they?" she asked, her eyes glowing with excitement once more. "Is that magic? Like my magic?"

"It's magic," Kara nodded, "Sort of like your magic.. it's what it turns out to be when I manifest it without turning it into anything. I'm good with illusions, light spells and shields... I can do a bit of healing but Yukito is much better at that than I am."
A lot of her magic was 'support' magic so to speak.
"It's a lot of light and sparkles," she giggled, "I guess that's me in a way."

Rhea was fascinated with the sparkles in Kara's hands, and she wondered, if she tried to do the same, would her magic look the same? Would it be like the blue sparkles that appeared around her back whenever her wings manifested?
She couldn't wait to find out.
She held her hands out in front of herself, cupping them like a bowl, just like Kara was doing right in front of her, and this time she kept her eyes open to see what would happen and tried to summon just a little bit of magic, sending it down to her hands.
For a moment nothing happened, but then it was as if someone was pouring water into her hands from a pitcher or something, because a pale, transparent shimmer began to glow in the bottom of her 'bowl'. Like water, its level rose higher in her hands - slowly at first, then a bit faster as Rhea got used to the idea of what she was doing. But as the magic reached the top of her hands, she tried to stop it ... but it didn't want to stop.
"Uh oh," she gulped as the transparent 'liquid' began to run over the tops of her hands. "It - it won't stop!"
She stuck out her tongue in concentration and tried to pull back on her magic, rein it in ... and slowly, very slowly, the trickle slowed until none of the magic was flowing over.
She looked up at Kara for approval.

Kara smiled widely, this was much better, she supposed Rhea just had to see what she was doing, instead of before.
"Excellent," Kara replied, "That took quite a bit of concentration didn't it?"
She had been worried for a moment that Rhea's panicking would make it worse.

Rhea nodded seriously.
"It just wants to keep coming," she murmured softly. "Like ... like a waterfall, and it's really hard to stop it ..."
Her eyes were glowing with the strange light again as if testifying about the difficulty she'd had, and the air had a springy, damp smell again.

"Well... as your mother and everyone had said you do have a lot of magic, and that at your age makes it very hard, but this," she held up her hands a bit, "Is an excerise, and like many excerises you can practice again, and as you do you get better."
She closed her hands so her bowl became a shell and then closed her palms together as if she was taking her magic back into herself.
"Like... making your mind and will stronger, more use to work?"

Rhea tried to copy Kara's actions, closing her hands to make a shell instead of a bowl, but when she pressed her palms together her magic squeezed out through her fingers and into the air, and it began to rain gently into her lap.
She sighed heavily and looked up at Kara. "So if it does something like that, it's the one in control, and not me?"

Kara nodded, "Though I should have explained the last part, when I was doing that, I was imagining that I was shoving the magic back inside of me, since that is where it came from in the first place, but this is good. You noticed, that even though there were troubles, it didn't get out of hand at all. Nothing so large like last time."
Which was the important part, she didn't want to make it uncontrollable ,which was the problem with so much magic.

Rhea sighed and looked down at her now-soaked skirt. Not out of hand, huh ...
"I never know how to make it stop," she mumbled, running her hand back and forth through the rain. "That's why Mama doesn't like me practicing very much ... I always wreck things."
Except even her young mind knew that she had to practice if she was going to control it someday.

"Sometimes it is easier to imagine or see magic has something solid, so you can work with it, from the looks of the, comparing it to water is very accurate," Kara nodded, "Unfortunately once winter starts, you won't be able to practice, but I would suggest outdoors."
She smiled softly and nodded.
"Would you like to try again? Practice does make perfect after all."

Rhea nodded, then blushed. "Um ... can you help me make it stop raining first?" she asked sheepishly. "I don't know how I made it rain ..."
Her magic had gotten away from her, it seemed ... though that was usually the case. Flowers seemed to be the only thing she really had control of herself over ... but as their first meditation exercise had proven, even that could get out of control quickly, and without her even realizing it.
