"Ah... I see, and Gaia is different.. .well depending on who you talk to of course," Lore murmured.
He looked thoughtful as he considered his next move. A girl's name though... took up a place in the back of his head. He knew a lot of names, but thinking of one for a girl was difficult.
"Let me think on that," he told her as he made his next move.

Elnara smiled and nodded. They did after all have a few months left before they would have to decide. And it was not unheard of for a child to go without a name until their naming ceremony when they were a few days old ... but then again, naming ceremonies had become something of the past, unheard of for several generations already.
She looked at Lore's pieces thoughtfully, and finally put out another scout.

A short while later, there was a knock at the door, and it opened up right away and Alyse stepped inside, bogged down with a large and apparently heavy bag.
"Hello," she called out, stomping her feet to get the snow off her boots. "I'm here ... Lore? Elnara?"
She flicked her boots off and nudged them into a corner, then headed towards the living room to find them.

"We're in here!" Lore called out.
He and Elnara were well into their game, and good number of pieces were out from their original positions. He looked as he heard Alyse voice. It look and sounded like she wasted no time.

Elnara smiled as Alyse entered the room and rose slowly to her feet.
"Let me help you with some of your things," she offered, reaching to take her cloak from her. "Do you need a hand with anything?"

Alyse shook her head and took her cloak back from Elnara, hefting her bag on her shoulder.
"You've been working too hard already," she told her softly. "You're flushed ... you just rest and continue your game, I can handle myself."
She prodded Elnara back to her chair, then smiled at Lore. "But if you could show me where I'll be staying ..."

Lore chuckled at that, even though what Alyse said was true, Elnara was quite flushed, it was still amusing anyways to see Alyse tell her she was working too hard. Getting up from his seat he nodded in agreement, leaning over he gave Elnara a peck on the cheek.
"I'll be right back."

Elnara nodded and tried to make herself comfortable in her chair once more. She really did want to get up and move around, but Alyse was right ... she had overworked herself already, and she needed to rest. Still, there was no way she was going to give anyone a dust-filled room to sleep in. Not while she was at least able to do something about it.
She decided that while Lore was gone, she would stare at the chessboard and try to find what her best next move could be.

Alyse smiled at Elnara and hefted her bag once more. She had brought quite a few things with her, prepared already to move in with Lore and Elnara and stay with them until after the baby was born and she was no longer needed.
"And Adanedhel will be bringing more wood later," she told Lore as she waited for him to show her where to go. "Ada thinks that the storm will last at least a week, and it could be another few days before anyone can dig themselves out, so he's going to make sure that you have enough for at least that long, if not longer."

Lore led her down the hall to the bedroom they had cleaned up for her. As he opened the door he nodded.
"I see... this should be interesting, we've had snow in Gaia, but not that much, ah... and Elnara and I didn't know where you would want the candles so we left them on the desk."

Alyse stepped into the room and set her bag gently on the floor. A series of hard clunks indicated the number of books that had been stuffed inside it.
"It's nice," she smiled. "And yes, you can expect a lot of snow here ... a time or two we've actually had to rely on Serenity to dig us out, and to bring us food when no one could go anywhere. But there's a bright side to it: most of the snow that piles up around your house will be against the glass window - no view, but it's amazing insulation, the house will always be quite warm."

"Well... snow wise seeing a cross section of a large snow drift it still might be an interesting view," Lore murmured thoughtfully.
Especially if the bottom of the snow began to compress into ice, but he was always the odd one who thought of observations like that.
"And how many books did you bring?" he raised a brow listening to the bag thunk.

"Not too many," Alyse assured Lore, "only about a dozen. They'll last me a while, though."
And sure enough, her first move was to the bookshelf to begin to put them away.
"Why don't you go back to Elnara," she suggested, "and finish your game? I'll join you in a bit. Have you had lunch yet? I can make you something ... something warm, maybe?"
Only thirteen years old, but she spoke as one who had already run a household on her own before.

"We haven't even thought about lunch yet," he admitted sheepishly.
Since after cleaning Elnara needed to rest and then they began to play so they hadn't thought about it yet.
"Well... we'll be in the living room still.. finishing the game," he smiled softly before leaving.

Alyse smiled and nodded without looking at Lore, kneeling to place her books one by one on the shelf. Every once in a while she would rearrange them and change their order, depending on how she wanted to sort them, or how she wanted to read them.
