If she had been holding her breath in worry, she could let it go now. Mentally she thought it made sense, Amalthea would have kept in contact with the rest of the family, it wasn't like she was going off travelling somewhere all the time.

"Come on..." she murmured tugging lightly on Shiro's sleeve, "Let's go and catch up with your other half."

At least that's what she would call Ura, she would bet anything that Shiro wanted to talk to them. Making sure Shiro was with her, she joined Ura to see these people.

Besides she was curious too.

Shiro nodded and followed closely after Lin, closing the book he had been reading and tucking it under his arm.

Ura smiled at Amalthea and bowed his head respectfully. "Then you are also our aunt," he said softly, touching his own chest and pointing at Shiro. "And this is Lin, our aunt by adoption."

Amalthea smiled at Shiro and Lin, and he smile was almost exactly like that of the Queen Atalya.

"This is my son," she introduced, bringing the man forward, "Ander. He speaks only a little of the Common Tongue, though he is fluent in both forms of Elvish."

The man chuckled softly, his eyes kind like his mother's. "I don't suppose that any of you speak our language?" he asked in High Elven.

Lin saw the family resemblence in the smile, and it was good to see something familiar like that. She bowed slightly, remembering her manners (she was so comfortable here that she tended to forget the sort of people who lived here).

"You're in luck," Lin replied back in the same language, "I grew up learning Elvish, so have Shiro and Ura. All of Elnara's children can speak one or both forms of Elvish."

She didn't add however, Shiro was a genius, she was pretty sure the guy could speak Human Tongue and Dwarvish (though where he would have learned that she didn't know but it wouldn't take much). She also had a strong suspicion that if she stuck Shiro in the company of Elros, Sir Valdemar and Aragost long enough he could probably figure out the original language of the elves.

Shiro beamed at Ander. He had known both of the elvish tongues as well as many others for a very long time, but he had never had the chance to actually use it in speaking with someone, and he loved to put what he learned to good use.

"Actually," he corrected Lin, "Skye only knows English - the Common tongue," he added for Ander's benefit, "since she's deaf. But she knows sign language, which is the same as everywhere here, from what we can tell."

Ura was sticking with Amalthea for now.

"And who is that?" he asked, nodding his head at the other woman, taller and yet obviously much younger than the queen.

Amalthea smiled at Ura. "My granddaughter, Wren," she replied softly, motioning for the woman to join them. "She is Ander's daughter."

And the black sheep of the family, which she didn't bother to add. It wasn't that she was bad, per se, but she was a little ... wild. And the Westlanders didn't like wild people, they liked order and tradition.

Wren smiled brightly at Ura, waving two fingers at him. "Hello!" she said warmly in a gently accented voice. "You Ura are, cousin Elnara's son ... I am learn your language, not like Ada, he not speak any of your language. Maybe here I have help, yes?"

She laughed then, soft and clear, and it was apparent that she had the ability to be ladylike if she so chose ... and yet she so obviously didn't choose to be so.

Ander chuckled at Shiro and Lin. "Well, I'm just glad that some here will speak my language," he admitted. "I don't know the common tongue, and even my High Elven is ... shaky at best ... and I don't know how many people here speak Common Elvish ..."

Yet for all his words, his High Elven seemed quite fine.

"Oh yes...." Lin nodded, "You know.... there are times I forget she's deaf."

Skye was just so highly funcitional, true you had to repeat every now and again, but it wasn't like she couldn't talk, and yes certain concepts were difficult, but Skye was very adaptable. Turning back to Ander, she was surprised he felt that way about his High Elven, it wasn't like she had to desect it like she had to do with Common Tongue every now and again.

"If it helps any," Lin replied, "Most of Queen Atalya's family knows Common Elvish, seeing as most of them have travelled at one point or another."

Ura chuckled at Wren's speech, amused by her syntax.

"Shiro would be delighted to help you," he said warmly, bowing his head at the tomboyish princess. Then he held out one hand to them. "But you must want to see Ninako," he said warmly. "And Nako, I'm sure."

Shiro was about to reply to Lin when he heard Ura mention their grandmother, and he looked at his brother in alarm. He wasn't sure, but that might not have been the best way to breech the subject ...

Amalthea smiled at Ura and nodded. "Yes," she said softly, "I would like to ..."

She trailed off, thinking deeply about what the boy had just said. His ninako of course was the queen ... but his nako ... Elnara's mother ...

Her eyes grew wide. Was it possible?

"Serenity?" she asked, her tone suddenly excited. "She's here?"

Lin glanced over at Ura, before looking at Amalthea. She was trying to decide if this was a good thing or not. Probably not seeing as Beren was here as well... Lin mentally shook her head, this was going to be akward. Hell, who was she kidding? This was going to cause a stir.

"Yes," Lin replied.

Why did she say yes? Oh yes.. because she was not going to lie and say no.

"I think she's been getting to know her sons better."

Please... please let's just take her to Atalya first.

Shiro was glad that their aunt had taken the news of Serenity's presence so well, but he was worried about how she might react to hearing that her brother was alive again.

"Don't mention Ojii-san," he advised both Ura and Lin in Japanese. "She'll find out soon enough, and Kaa-san says the best way is a sudden surprise, knowing ahead of time will only worry her."

Ura looked put out at that comment, but he nodded his agreement.

Shiro turned to Lin and waited for her to agree.

Amalthea was absolutely delighted, and she turned and spoke to her son and granddaughter in rapid elvish, her comments punctuated by soft laughter. Finally, she turned back to the children (or rather, teens and adult), her entire face glowing with happiness.

"I'm so glad she was finally able to return," she breathed, her eyes dancing with excitement. "It's been far too long! Even before she was ... but now ..."

She laughed again, so happy she couldn't seem to find the words she wanted to say.

"Please!" she urged them all. "Take us to my mother, and then I would like to see Serenity again!"

"Hai..." Lin replied to Shiro's assestment, she was grateful he pointed it out.

Well... she thought, might as well get this over with, before something else happens. She turned to Amalthea and nodded.

"Alright then," she smiled, "This way, she should be in her office by now."

Even now the queen was always busy, Lin thought to herself and preparing for the wedding to take place wasn't making it any easier.

Shiro smiled and began to lead them all down the corridor, glancing significantly at Ura as he started off. He had no idea how their aunt would react to finding out her brother had been reborn ... or that he was back with his wife and family, though he of course wouldn't be staying here.

... now there was a good question. Would he? He and Serenity could now, after all ... and it was their place to do so ... and after the life that had been stolen from them ... from all of them ... they deserved it. On the other hand, he also knew that they liked living where they were, on the ranch. Perhaps they would stay out there anyways, despite the fact that it was far away from most of their family.

Amalthea spoke rapidly with her guards, then with some of the palace guards, and they bowed deeply to her and moved off together. Then she beckoned for Ander and Wren to follow closely, and followed after Lin and Shiro and Ura.

"You mean her study," she commented to Lin, her brow furrowed in puzzlement. "That's where she does all of her work ..."

She didn't know the word 'office' ...
