"Great," Keegan grumbled, kicking the ground with his foot. "So long as Tierra snoozes, Flannery will just have Torkoal use buffer moves." Without thinking the redhead reached down and snatched a rock from the ground and then proceeded to hurl it at his Pokemon. It bounced off of the Golem's thick hide with a soft 'thunk' sound, not even leaving the tiniest of scratches. "Come on Tierra!" he shouted, the desperation clear in his voice. "Rock Throw! Rock Blast! Tackle! Do SOMETHING!"
The Golem let out a loud snort and seemed to make herself more comfortable, but she didn't attack, let alone acknowledge the fact that her trainer had issued a command.

"How frustrating," Flannery sighed, knowing just how Keegan felt. Before her Camerupt had evolved, it had been a terribly lazy Numel, with no regard for battle or doing anything but lazing about. That had changed, though, when it had finally evolved and become a real powerhouse.
"Well Torkoal, might as well keep playing it safe, eh?" the redhead smiled, scratching her chin. "Use Curse again!" The small tortoise repeated its previous actions, once again boosting its attack and defensive power at the cost of its speed. It was a good thing neither of the two Pokemon on the battlefield were known for their speed.
"This is useless," Kasiya muttered, shaking her head sadly. "How is Keegan supposed to win this when his Pokemon won't even listen to him?" She did have to admit though, it was kind of funny to watch him yell at her, and she had to stifle a giggle as he then threw a rock at the Golem. Levi tilted her head in confusion, unsure as to why the big Pokemon wasn't participating in the battle. She wasn't afraid of the Torkoal, surely Tierra wasn't, was she? The young Pokemon jumped up and down, shouting at the Golem in their own Pokemonic language. If humans could have understood, it would have translated to something like 'Wake up, you big lummox, and fight back! What, are you afraid of that little fire turtle? Get in there and fight, you big wussy!'

Keegan shot a glare towards Kasiya as he heard her giggle, but he wasn't prepared to see Levi hopping up and down, yelling loudly at Tierra. He chuckled lightly, looking towards the sleeping Golem and sighed. It was hopeless.
Or was it? Tierra had opened one eye and was looking directly at the Marshtomp. A low growl seemed to emanate from the Pokemon's throat as she stood up to her full height and turned towards the Torkoal. There was no way she was afraid of that! She lifted one leg and then the other, stomping loudly as though beckoning Flannery and her Torkoal to fight. Keegan grinned. "All right! Tierra, use Rock Throw!" he shouted.
Giving a roar, the mighty Golem slammed a fist into the ground, tearing a large chunk of it right out. With little effort, the Megaton Pokemon hurled the boulder towards the Torkoal. "That's more like it!" Keegan cheered, restraining himself from jumping up and down in excitement.

"Slateport, the first. We've got tomorrow then it's here," Kilik scratched his head, using a little bit of conditioner to make his hair light and bouncy. "I'm interested in what this Rowan has to say. I've never heard of him," though he did read a lot when he was younger, nothing on Rowan ever popped up. When he closed his eyes, he imagined a very intimidating Professor. Not like Oak, who had a very welcoming face, but a very scary version of Blaine. With a briefcase -- loaded with bricks. A chill ran down his spine. The name alone seemed stronger than 'Oak', 'Elm' or 'Birch'.
"I wouldn't have expected it," Kilik laughed, shutting the water off, "She looks more cute than tough. A lot more cute than tough." He snaked his arm over the stall door and grabbed the towel, rubbing his head and body before wrapping it around his waist and stepping out of the stall. Steam billowed out behind him. The cool bathroom felt nice against his chest and the exposed part of his legs. "I can feel a good night's sleep coming on..." he yawned.

"Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Impressive, but you can't jumble a mind that's already lost! Larvitar, Thrash!" Watching as the small green bird dive bombed in for a final attack, Crenu's words rang in his ears and slowly disappeared. The image of the attacking bird getting closer and closer blurred as Larvitar's eyes began to glow white and Larvitar began to flail about wildly. With all his might Larvitar punched, bit, kicked, tackled, did whatever he could to devastate what in his mind must have been a field of opponents that surounded him. Attacking in the general direction that the Natu had been in, he was basically throwing attacks around at random. Even as the rainbow light hit him square on, Larvitar continued to thrash about, he was already as confused as could be and even the damage that he did to himself in this state didn't deter his assault.

"Well, I'm glad to hear you're going." Mike spun the shower nozzle, bringing the shower to an end. After abusing his hair with a towel and combing it in place with his fingers, the boy realized something. "You know, it just dawned on me. I never got a Pokedex." He was getting sick of always having to wait until he made it to a town or city to look up stuff. Because by then he already forgot what it was he was looking up. "We'll have to meet up there." He rolled his waist in the damp towel and stepped out of the stall, nearly slipping on the small puddle of water.
"Trés adorable." said the boy in response to Kilik's comment. "Here you go." The clothes were finished washing and drying. Huh, either this is like, quantum technology or we took wicked long showers. Mike sifted through the clothes, finding it remarkable easy to differentiate between the two boy's apparel, just look for anything red or on fire. After a quick changing he was back in his normal clothes again, feeling all fresh and clean. He stuffed the Magma outfit into his backpack, hoping he'd not have to put it on in a long time. It was a shame, he really liked it.
"Well, I'm heading to bed. 'night." Thankfully Mike's Pokemon were all healed. He snatched 'em up and clipped them to his backpack. Ah, all is right again. With a happy sigh the boy made his way into the guest room. The lights were dim, almost romantically so. He jumped on the middle of the three beds and placed his backpack softly on the ground, making himself comfortable. After a few minutes of relaxing Sasha entered the room, dressed in actual pajamas. They were pink (surprise). Mike couldn't help but notice how cute she looked in them. At least Kilik has good tastes in chicks. He chuckled to himself.
"What're you laughing at?" She asked defensively, blushing slightly. She tucked all her stuff under the rightmost bed and crawled in, pulling up all te covers.
"Nothin' don't worry about it." He smiled, then leaned over to face his friend. "I'm glad you're alright Sasha." With a yawn he closed his eyes, clutching his pillow tight.
Her heart fluttered. She still couldn't believe that all this happened in just one day's time. "Me too Mike..." she trailed off, the warmth of the Pokemon Center beds beginning o get the best of her. "Thank you."

Kilik tossed his clothes on in a bit of a rush and merely carried his shoes out of the bathroom. Mike was ahead of him and already in the bedroom by the time his Pokemon had returned to him. He spun Elekid's Pokeball on his finger for a moment before releasing the plug. He clapped and clambered onto his trainer's shoulder, sitting there with a silly grin on his face. Seeing Kilik happy, and feeling how happy he was, made him happy too. "C'mon," he laughed, "let's grab a bite to eat."
The trainer strolled past the bedrooms (peeking in to see Mike and Sasha sound asleep) and entered the cafeteria. The chef had already gone to bed, it seemed, as all of the food on the buffet had been taken out. However, a sandwich machine in the corner was still on and lit. So a hot meal was out of the question for tonight, but food was food. Kilik walked over, opened the door and took out three sandwiches: tuna salad, egg salad, and ham with cheese. He popped a coin into the drink machine and selected 'Cherry', waited a moment then took the small feast over to a table. They were all empty, but eating alone wasn't such a big deal.
Elekid jumped off Kilik's shoulder and took the egg salad sandwich, sitting down on the table and biting into the still-wrapped sandwich. The boy chuckled. "Here," he said quietly. With nimble fingers, the wrapping came off and Elekid dug in. Kilik, on the other hand, took a moment to savor the taste of his tuna salad. He downed a quarter of the sandwich in one bite followed by a massive gulp from his drink. He could practically hear it fall into his stomach. He drummed his fingers on the table and sighed through his nose. "This party..." he whispered, gulping, "I hope everyone shows up. I mean, the only old friend I've seen at all recently is Mike."
He knew Elekid wasn't listening, but being able to talk was nice. "Kasiya, M.A., that boy that hangs out with Kasiya..." he scratched the back of his head. So he didn't really have many friends, but they all meant something to him. Elekid gulped the rest of the sandwich down then looked up at his trainer. Who was he talking to? Was somebody else in the room too? "Ah, what do you care, huh?" he patted the plug on the head, "I doubt you remember any of them. Hopefully they'll see you before you evolve, otherwise they wouldn't recognize you." With a chuckle, Kilik downed the rest of his sandwich and drink, taking the ham with cheese sandwich with him out of the cafeteria.
"Man..." he sighed quietly as to not disturb the two slumbering ones. Elekid hopped into the empty bed and sat on one of the pillows, waiting for his trainer to lay down too. He patted the pillow - it was very comfortable. Kilik was going to sleep well that night, he was certain. The black haired boy placed the sandwich on the table between Mike and Sasha's bed. Perhaps one of them would eat it if they were hungry in the middle of the night. With a mighty yawn, the boy nestled into the bed, stared at the ceiling and closed his eyes. Within seconds, he was out like a light.

A tall and impressive looking young man walked across the rocky rim of a mighty volcano. His black cape danced erratically as he stood alongside the edge. Running a finger through his dark hair, the man stared down into the molten core. "This awesome force is mine to command!" He thrust his arms up, the magma rumbling beneath him. "I am the mightiest Fire Pokemon trainer in the world! Nothing can stand up to our intensity, our ferocity, our passion!" A proud and manic laughter could be heard as flames shot up from all sides, surrounding the man. The fire licked his face, his scarf flying off as the cyclone of fire roared around him. Surrounding him were many large and dark silhouettes, all with flaming red eyes. "My friends, we shall show the world the unstoppable power we posses!" He opened his eyes, the fire instantly disbanding. His eyes were green; piercing, but not frightening. A devious smile rose from the man. "My name is Maikeru Kyoka, and I am the most powerful Pokemon trainer alive! Ahahahaha!" With a terrible and deafening explosion the volcano erupted, and the sound of his near psychotic laughter became more distant, before fading off completely.
Mike arose from his bed in a cold sweat, his eyes wide. He gasped for air, coughing intensely. He looked around frantically to confirm where he was. It was the Pokemon Center in Lilycove. With a heavy sigh the boy regained a somewhat calm composure. "What was that?" He clutched his head, hoping he didn't wake his two friends. Sasha and Kilik appeared to still be sleeping, that was good. He let out a short chuckle. "Was that supposed to be me?" He looked so...fantastic, imposing, prideful. "I certainly hope so, that was awesome!" He threw his covers off and grabbed his backpack. "8:34. Not bad." He snapped his PokeNav shut and walked into the lobby. Nurse Joy was sitting behind the counter as usual and greeted the boy with a friendly wave and a smile.
Mike got himself a roast beef sandwich and a soda and bought a few packets of Pokemon food for the road in case they got hungry along the way. One of the many things he loved about the Pokemon Centers was they fed your Pokemon as well as providing medical support. He sat at one of the tables by the couch, he was looking forward to devouring this sandwich.

Unlike Mike, Kilik's sleep was pretty much uneventful. His dreams were more like flashbacks of his Gym battles, most particularly his most recent match against Morty. The image of Lombre attacking Haunter with Astonish played in his mind over and over again. Then he flashed to his match against Whitney, though that segment of the dream was short lived. He must've been smiling in his sleep, because watching himself slaughter the Normal-type Gym Leader definitely made him happy.
He woke right up when he remembered training with Mike in the Viridian City Gym. Elekid was still asleep, nice and cozy beneath the blankets. Checking his PokeNav, he grumbled at the time. "Nine twenty..." he moaned, putting the tech back into his pocket. He stretched beneath the blankets and sat up, yawning. Morning was not his favorite part of the day, but if he was going to get Lairon as powerful as possible before tomorrow, today would be the day to do it. Throwing his legs over the side of the bed, he stood up and walked towards the door. Before stepping out however, Kilik looked over his shoulder at Sasha and smiled. She did look peaceful.
He went down the hallway a little ways (taking care to wave at Nurse Joy) into the lobby to find Mike there, alone. "Morning, buddy," he said, buying a bottle of chocolate milk from the vending machine, "Sleep well?" he said, crashing onto the cushion beside him.

"Yeah," replied the boy as he fixed his hair. No matter what he could never get it to look right in the morning. It was just all sorts of poof. "Odd dream though." Mike had already eaten his sandwich and was now slowly enjoying his soda. He didn't care if it was early in the morning, he loved carbonated drinks at any time. "In about a minute I'm gonna head out to the store, then go to Route 121 to train Napalm." He burped, then punched his chest. "Whew, that one felt good."

With Torkoal's reduced speed, there was no way for it to dodge the bullet-like rock that the Golem had hurled its way. However, thanks to its boosted defense, the attack was not nearly as damaging as it could have been, and it shattered off of Torkoal's hard shell, sending bits of rock and gravel everywhere. Flannery brushed the offending dust from her pant legs and peered over at Tierra. "So, she's awake, eh?" she laughed, clapping her hands together. "Finally!" Torkoal seemed to mimic its trainer's mood, rearing up on its hind legs to clap its forelegs together, all the while puffing out clouds of billowy, white smoke.
"Okay Torkoal, time to get into high gear!" Flannery shouted. "Flamethrower attack, now!" While she knew the attack wasn't overly effective, she was hoping that the Golem's notoriously low special defense would help make up for it. The Coal Pokemon inhaled deeply, gaining power from the burning coals set in its back. It then spewed the deadly jet of fire from its mouth with little effort, its trainer watching proudly as the dancing flames were reflected in her eyes.
"Nice work, Levi," Kasiya whispered, scooping up the Pokemon from the ground and sitting her on her lap once again. "I don't know what you said but it certainly did the trick." Levi just nodded, looking quite proud of herself as she watched from the comfort of her trainer's arms. She knew that she herself wouldn't be facing any tough gym Pokemon today, but there were many other gyms out there and soon enough would come the day when she was tough enough to test out her own mettle against them.

Miharu and Lily wandered around Goldenrod City for a good fourty minutes before heading back to the Pokemon Center, and the small girl wasn't suprised to see that the place wasn't any less busy than it was before. However, her Pokemon were ready by this point and she wasted no time in reclaiming them, happy to have her troupe back with her once again. The walk itself had been uneventful, but the day was beautiful and the city was too, although Miharu couldn't wait to see it all lit up at night. However, there was only one other thing on her mind other than seeing the city at night, and that was issuing her challenge to Whitney.
With all six Pokemon fully healed and set safely in her belt, Miharu left the Pokemon Center and headed towards the Goldenrod City gym, her mouth set in a tight line as she walked. Even if she couldn't challenge the gym leader today, she would let her presence be known, even if that meant battling with some of Whitney's underlings. She reached the gym in record time, and looked up at the doors leading inside. She took a deep breath and pushed them open, unsure of what to expect as she entered the gym.

It was never fun to hear someone else call for a Flamethrower, especially if it was directed at you or your Pokemon. Keegan frowned at the sight of the fire engulfing his Pokemon, and he knew that it would hurt, even with the resistance Tierra had. The Golem shut her eyes and hunkered down, straining against the fierce flames scalding her body. When the attack finally died down her body was scorched in places but she was far from finished. She lifted one foot high in the air and brought it down hard as if to show she wasn't through yet.
"Try your Rock Blast!" Keegan then shouted, watching as the Golem then proceeded to hammer the ground with her fists, tearing up chunks of the floor and throwing them in rapid succession at her opponent. A smaller Pokemon meant for a smaller target, but it didn't matter to Tierra. She wasn't about to let that little fire squirt get the best of her.

The Smog Daemyn released was surprisingly somewhat dense, even though it wasn't a Smokescreen. He must have put quite a bit of air and effort into it... It surprised the Masquerain that he couldn't hear the Houndour breathing hard at all. His sense of hearing wasn't poor, that was for sure. He couldn't smell with all the poison floating about. And he couldn't see too well either, what with it being dark and this poisonous haze... Masquerain technically had tiny eyes, despite the huge fake eyes its antennae portrayed.
"Unfortunately, that won't work with Jin here; whip that stuff away," Michael said just moments after his sister issued the attack. Jin wouldn't be poisoned easily, but he wasn't about to take any chances and ruin their night here -- he didn't have any Antidotes with him. Flapping his winds carefully, he created a silvery current that whipped the purple smoke away, careful to direct it away from the humans.
With the haze cleared, the Masquerain was surprised to see that nothing was around him at all. There was no trace of Daemyn at all.
To his front, Mary-Anne smiled and nodded.
By the time he heard the light push of feet behind him, it was a just a second too late to react; Daemyn had leaped into the air behind him, smacking hard into the back of the bug and simultaneously biting down ferociously on his head. Jin screeched and came crashing down to the ground. That hurt! Little pesk! The surprise of even being hit paralyzed the Bug-type momentarily.
Daemyn didn't let go and quickly rolled over to pin the Masquerain to the ground. The Bug-type sighed, lying there; this was a stunning development, really. He didn't know that pup was capable of that. It looked like Daemyn's younger years of hunting with his pack had ingrained certain survival skills in him; there was no other way to explain his talent with stealthy stalking. "Looks like we both underestimated you two," Michael chuckled. "That's enough. I'm content."
Daemyn looked up confusedly at the young man, although the heat of battle and determination hadn't left his eyes yet. Michael grinned. This canine here was prideful, there was no doubt, but it would serve for the better so long as they didn't do anything too reckless. "C'mon Jin, get up already, you lazy bum."
So quickly that Daemyn's eyes could not even detect the movement, the Masquerain was no longer under his feet. He toppled over from the sudden change. Copies of Jin spun about for just a second, dizzying him with his speed before recombining into the original. The Masquerain looked down from his comfortable position smugly; his gaze seemed to say, 'you're far from beating me!'. It felt good to fight a little again, though. "Not too bad, that Double Team. We'll train some more, hmm? You wouldn't mind competing again, would you?" The Bug-type purred, if that's even possible, before resting on Michael's shoulder.
He strode over to Mary-Anne next, scooping up a loudly-protesting Daemyn in his strong arms on the way. "He's gotten heavy! But yeah, I'm reassured now; you'll be okay out there, especially if the other two behind you are anything like this mutt." M.A. smiled in response. "Told you so," she said.
There was nothing to worry about after all. They weren't too strong yet, but they were growing still and they had the right spirit. That was good enough for now. Sure, she had a way of stumbling into trouble wherever she went, but it wasn't life wasn't one of those movies were whatever bad could possibly happen happens.

Michael and M.A. simultaneously sighed with relief upon hitting their sleeping bags. It had been a tiring day. With the grassy field under them, it was almost as soft as Pokecenter beds. The girl made a mental note that she should do this more often, if the weather permitted it.
"You gotta battle Tora tomorrow too, or she'll throw a fit," M.A. murmured, casting her glance sideways momentarily to look at the sulking Phanpy. She had wanted a fight too; how come only Daemyn got one?
"Sure, why not? Let's train tomorrow, the both of us, and head back when mum gets here." He paused for a moment, crossing his arms behind his head. "Say, have you had any trouble having them listen to you at all?"
"Well... Not too much. Although Tora sometimes goes off on her own in her battles, but only when she's immersed in it." The Phanpy sometimes got so caught up in her fights that she didn't even hear M.A. anymore, but it generally wasn't too much of an issue.
"Mm. You'll might have a Pokemon like that who fights just as well without commands, but remember, as their trainer, you still gotta watch out for them -- you'll see things they can't, y'know. And there might come a time where you capture a Pokemon who won't obey, particularly as they get more high-leveled -- the quickest way to cure or prevent that is gnab a badge."
"Oh, really?"
"Yup. It's a way to earning Pokemon's respect, you know; unlike Ulani and Tora here, not all Pokemon are going to become so loyal to you so easily."
Mary-Anne mused over what she had been told. Right, so she had to get a gym badge sometime after all. The prospect of a battle both exhilarated her and frightened her. "Right, so... where do you suggest I go, for a Gym?"
"Well, the day after tomorrow, we were all thinking of going to Goldenrod for some shopping, but there's also a gym there too. Whitney's the leader there." Michael smiled. He could remember his very first Gym battle -- he had lost, actually. The second time, he had been more successful, though after another badge or two he had lost interest in training and had made the conversion to coordinating. "You up to it?
"Definately! Wow." The prospect of a real, intense Gym battle both exhilarated and frightened her.
"Well, then, let's train some tomorrow in preparation, mm?"
"That'd be great! Thanks Mikey."
"What wouldn't I do for this punk of a sister of mine," he teased, reaching over to peck her on the forehead. "Get some sleep then. We'll get some work done tomorrow," he whispered hoarsely.
"Sweet dreams, Michelo."
