I'm still waiting for him to post my link to my char sheet... But tis not just that. The second GM Nero hasn't been on much lately. Otherwise he probably would have started his by now. No I think its normal like this. Guilds that I abandoned months ago still havn't made ANY progress... same on most places I go in Gaia

Unfortunately very little unless mister fenrir promotes one of us to captain... or they start to actually post and take interest in their investments. It's strange how it's always been the ones that start the guild that end up leaving it. Sure theres the excuse of the real world but thats still just an excuse. If they didn't think they'd have time to actually run their guilds then they shouldn't have made it in the first place really. Just my two cents.

I've been given Admin powers actually, but I haven't any clue as to what to do to run a guild.

Well, first off we need a Gm that will post more than once a bloody month. Really that's all we need, someone to move at least one story along.

Now now, calm down. I haven't gone anywhere. I was just taking a week or so off, I had been hanging out online too much and was starting to get a bit burned out on it and just needed some time for my interest to regrow.
And I do agree, we do need active GMs. Let me state, up front and quite clearly (For more than the first time) that I never wanted to GM here. My vision was to create a space for people to play and organize games, I was simply going to do administration work and keep track of character sheets. The only reason I made a game was to keep things moving since I didn't have any other people running things. Therefore, the fact that I am running a game at all is a bonus. Instead of wondering where I am, you should more be focusing on what you can do, i.e. becoming a GM and running a game.
To that vein, including myself, there are 5, count them 5, approved GMs right now who all have admin powers. I can't force people to run games, but right now, I'm the only one who IS running a game at all. I only bit off as much as I could chew, I have no intention of running multiple games at the present because... Well, I think you get it by now. Every time someone has said "We need something to do", I've responded with "We need GMs." I'm not angry about it, but I can't help that none of the GMs I've recruited are running any games. I can only do so much.
I would also like to illuminate that as a GM, I post more than once a month. wink I also thought Dante's character was linked already, I'll go back through and make sure it is. It probably just fell through the cracks, which is why I have a disclaimer on the character page to send me a PM and remind me if I don't do it after it has been up a few days; it's extremely easy to miss that a character has been posted there, and a lot of people put up partial characters and finish them later, making it that much harder.
And for a little history, I've owned this guild for years now. When it originally started, it was Spirits of Gaia. That was a monster training RP that had quite a few creatures in it, and required a vast amount of effort on my part. I was doing at least an hour of work on it every day, and after about a year, I got burned out on it, and decided to end it. Later on down the road, I opened up Blades of Heaven, which lasted for a few months, but also required a fair amount of work from me (But not as much). Still, I got burned out on that too, since it required so much time. Then I decided to do something crazy stupid, and reopened Spirits, but made it bigger, badder, and a monster list of 560 went to 1680. Again, it required a lot of time and effort, but I quickly realized that I didn't have the time to devote to it, so it too only lasted a few months. This led me to a dilemma; I enjoy creating these things, but the amount of work was far too demanding. My solution was the current incarnation of the guild, where I would simply do administrative duties while the people around me played. It was supposedly a happy medium; and there's the catch. I already know I don't have the energy to do everything, which is why the guild is set up the way it is. I need the help of everyone else to make it work. You get out of it what you put in, but so far, no one is really putting in, therefore... No one is getting anything out of it, either. If no one is willing to take the plunge and run a game, we'll never get anywhere.
And that is how it stands.
Rinith: Since my answer is "What PM?" I guess that's a no. lol Send it again?
Edit: Going back and looking at your character, Dante, I now remember why I never linked it. You never fixed the stats like I asked; they are still wrong. You get 28 points to divide, but having a score of 17 or 18 costs extra, 10 and 12 points respectively.

I'm on the approved GM list. My problem is that I've never played a D&D game online or in anything but tabletop, I don't know how it runs.
If I could experience a game one time thru just to understand the mechanics, then I'd be open to considering running a game. Anyone open to running me thru the paces just once?

it's just the same as in the real world, you describe things and your characters react to them. The thing with online is that you really need to keep them in order otherwise It gets jumbled up and confusing really quickly.

It's the effective use of the dice roller, and learning the flow of communication in a forum format that I need to learn.

My suggestion is to streamline things. If it's a Spot or Listen roll, I just do those on my own, with real dice, and feed the players the info on what happened. If it's combat, I encourage the players to make damage rolls if they think they hit, even if they're not sure. That way, when I get on, it's all there for me. If they were wrong, it's no big deal, just say "You didn't actually hit, sorry." I also share the AC they need to hit to help speed it up, so they know. While I wouldn't normally do that, it saves times. Essentially, what you want to accomplish is doing as much as you possibly can whenever you get the opportunity.
Don't be afraid to push players a little, too. In this sort of format, you might as well man handle a slight bit. For instance, if you present a single option for them to follow and there is nothing they can do in that situation to make it different, go ahead and move them through that option. If they are in an empty room with only one exit that they HAVE to go through, go ahead and tell them they've gone through it, instead of waiting around for them to say they did. It'll help speed things up, and won't really affect any real choices the players make.
Rinith: Sorry, I never got it. sweatdrop I'd love to see it, though.
Edit: And sorry about the Prestige prizes guys. Until Gaia fixes trading, I can't finalize it.

uhh I currently run an Online D&D game right now ^_^ this saturday infact I most likely got 3 or 4 of my players in the game, I have a spot for a 5th... and am currently looking, we do it in jigsaw using the chat system... it just started yesterday... lol... started as one little test game then everyone came on and we played and I threw out a few sheets of stuff and winged it surprised but then I was just doing a personal session which turned into a full game xd if I can figure out a better place that hords more people that could work... LOL GO TO MY HOUSE IN TOWNS xd .. hey wait... thats not a bad idea rofl hmm... I'm going to test it out... but if anyone can make a character by tomorrow and get it to me by tomorrow and be able to play that day I'm currently accepting 3nodding my rules include trust... tell me your rolls and be truthful surprised Let me do the healing rolls... thats my personal preference sweatdrop and show up when we plan a game... hmm... If I can get things a test in towns picking a spot to meet.. such as my house is possible surprised oh yes... if you roll a 1 YOUR ATTACKED BY A HORD OF MOSQUITOES blaugh thats what happens with shitty rolls surprised we tend to have lots.. even in a cave.. which is odd.. but meh.. bugs are anoying whee anyway... hmmm larger group... at most I could probably handle a group of 6 surprised so if anyone here wants to try an Online game create a wizards of the cost 3.5 character sheet Go here and select D&D v.3.5 character sheet (80k pdf/zip) - From the D&D v.3.5 Player's Handbook. and get it to me your welcome to join ^_^ it is not based off this guild sweatdrop but if I get good reviews I can do it here blaugh so far my players seem to quite like my system surprised its a little... different but it works by what they say oh yes... For stats(base ability stats) we buy them from the 36 point system 9-14 cost 1 point each 15 and 16 cost 2 points each, and 17 and 18 cost 3... I request you send me the 6 values chosen BEFORE RACIAL MODIFIERS so I can make sure they were done correctly... you get max gold for your class... and keep what you don't spend on weapons and equipment and I have my own standard starter pack that I give players surprised hmm.. thats about it Onto the OOC PART HI FENRIR blaugh oh I need to not type so much sweatdrop
