He rose from his kneeling position, shootzing a dirty look towards the cat that seemed to go on full on brownnosing course with the new boss. "Well, little mis muffet, are you sure you function properly when you are totally sane? My problem is that I was born with a brain to sane to live. Each and every day, I woke up to my fullest disgust, born in a world where truth and sanity are not only lost, but have been mugged by three republicans, gagged, brought in the next alleyway and then raped repeatedly with the semen encrusted fist of moral. That was, when I thought like you. But then, some blubbering monstrosity used the little diner I was inside, and killed the only two women i have ever cared for, simply by inserting large cumbersome tentacles into their precious sane orifices untill they burst. " He grinned, and came slowly nearer, his fingers playing with a pen he had taken out of the inner pocket of his jacket, and guiding it into a flurring orbit around his hand. He never once broke the look of her tender, sane eyes, visibly enjoying the little shakes. His voice got rougher, as his breathing stepped ourt of rythm. "Well, I was presented by the obvious two possibilities: First, I could try some therapy, and block it out. save my puny system of morals and values, and regain a sense of being human by locking my horrors into a deeper part of the brain, away from the light like prisoners. or, I could go totally vegetable, get overwhelmed with the fears, and go embrionical state for a very long time, oficially with a nice cocktail of electro shocks and tasty medicine. " He chuckled, grinning madly now. "Yes, if it is used to cure insanity, or if the pharmas behind it have a prophit, they call it medicine. OOOh yes. And if it actually prevents you from getting easy and controllable, and helps you getting s**t done, OOOh yes, Ma'am, then it is a drug. " he jerked his head back, and gave the room a big bellied laugh. "Yes, that was wehat I was planning on. I was a goddamn doctor of yournalism, so I had no time for having problems, or this pantsy approach of the hippie generation of talking about stuff. I deccided to medicate myself, and voila, as they say. Some surrender to the bull of insanity, some run away from it, but very few use the willpower and the medication to make a stick with a nail and a saddle out of it, throw in on the ******** bull, and beat it untill it starts working for them. " Grinningly, he slapped the table a few times. "So, missy, what will you do when you have the inability to find the way next time. I can loose my drugs anytime, and return to my state of creative whimpering. But sadly, little miss muffet, we are not yet at the point where a drug can give you more intelligence, more good judgement, and more clear thinking. I can do all of that with my drugs. So, tell me, who is trapped in a body that will turn its hellish organ called brain into a flaming ball the first time the other side breaks through? Guess not I, because I have seen worse every moment i was dropping LSD and Human adrenaline glands. " He broke his look, turned around, and kneeled again before the stunned audience, awaiting its response.
The cat was mildly amused. She knew that her two faces where not that pretty, and also that her hide bore the marks of more then ona attack. But owner, who now fought viciously with the usual rambling in his voice, he had allways helped her. he had freed her from the dark place. he had given her food and water and cigarettes and things to play, mate and kill with. She was loyal. She looked up the other woman, and instantly locked eyes with the cat above. Something was wrong with that cat, her senses where telling her, while Owner kept on rambling because of the little blue pills he had taken. she knew, an enemy who was confused would be easier to bring down and kill. She shook, and strolled towards the woman, displaying every inch of her rampagned hide with pride. She grinned, as her nose confirmed that the cat on the shoulder was male. She liked males. they where weaker, less agressive, and predictively easy to result to honest fighting. She remembered the time the mountain lion had wandered into masters hut. She had killed him too. She sat down in front of the lady, looking up with her four eyes towards the other cat, mentally denouncibng its value to either Eat or kill. Not neccesarily in that order. The cat started to purr, and lick her lips while she looked at the other cat.

While deciding whether to go to the town or the store, Larry remembered in the back of his mind the threatening note that Darya al-Hadithy had given him. This quickly made up his mind. "I'd recommend going to town." Larry said, clicking on a small pocket flashlight and looking much more alert "The more people around, the better." Larry started off in the direction of the town, a heightened sense of alert in his eyes as they darted around the trees and bushes.

heart You found my heart and rebuilt it from dust... heart "Well, it seems out of your two choices, you chose the latter rather than the former. Do you really think you're the only one to see horrors? If so you're sadly mistaken. It was your choice to deal with it the wrong way, and quite frankly your choice is rather disgusting. Then again, I doubt something like you cares about that. I will tell you this now: It is a very large and careless mistake to assume anything at all about someone you do not know. After all, to assume makes an a** out of you and me." Outai looked down at the little cat in front of her. It was likely female, and was covered in marks and scars. She, too, had lead a hard life, and likely had taken it differently, in such a way as to possibly damage her psyche as her master had. "Little kitty, I advise you to not try to break into my mind. I have a barrier there for a reason." Outai told the cat and it's master telepathically.

((Sorry for my absenteeism. I promise I won't take leave like that again.))
The dragons swooped up and down. Sokato held tight, but nothing was getting accomplished. Expect for him not falling. Suddenly, the dragon started flying close to the ground. The dragon was inches off the ground, and Sokato who was hanging from the dragon was being dragged across the ground.
It forced him to let go. Ace tumbled on the ground. "This is turning out to be a pain in the a**. I should remind myself never to take up a mission that requires going back to the middle ages." Sokato stood up and looked around. The dragons had caused more damage to the city than they had before Mishap Mercenaries came to take care of them. It was rather sad. He had to start making a new plan of attack, fast. Soon, the dragons will level the entire city.
Meanwhile, right outside Sokato's office, the android had received word of a security breach. He went back into Sokato's office and watched the security camera footage on the monitor. At that same time a document had printed out on the printer. It was a new application for review.
The android took it from the tray in the printer and studied the application, and then the secuirity footage and then back to the applicatoin. "This is too good to be true. Well, Sokato's new position requires him to review these applications and interview them. Since he is on a mission, I will have to do it for him of course.
The Sokato look-a-like andriods first command is to take the place of Sokato when he is out of the office on missions. Meaning that he is much like a substitute.
The android rushed out of the office and headed towards conference room B as fast as he could. Withen the minute, he was in the room. He walked up the docter of journalism and Outai and looked a them both. "I am here to speak to Spider. I would appreciate it if everyone else besides him left the room." The android said, rather politely.

Shadow responded to Outai with a bow, as usual, "You are welcome." He then watched and listened to the seemingly incoherent, yet oddly understandable 'rantings' of the loosid man, and the reasoning from Outai. He was interested mostly in the outcome on both ends. It would make for some interesting analysis later on.
He also watched as the female cat and started for the male cat, for some interaction perhaps. Shadow saw the two pets, and thought shortly about his own cat. It was bigger than these two cats, that was one reason it was not with him right then.
He felt that this would be a very interesting day, even before knowing what the mission was about. He knew that everyday was potentially interesting just because of the various personalities, clashing and melding alike.
A moment later, an android of an officer entered the room. Shadow nodded quietly and left silently after the android asked everyone to leave the room. He stepped sideways and waited just beside the door. He knew the walls were soundproof, so no one would mind that he waited there. If he wanted to know the conversation, he could easily use a simple meditation skill he'd been working on to listen. Actually, he could watch from a different perspective, like an out of body experience, yet not out of body. He would still know what was going on with his imediate surroundings.
He chose not to for it was not neccessary, and it was rude. He would just wait.

heart You found my heart and rebuilt it from dust... heart Outai walked up to the nearest window and pushed it wide open so that fresh air could enter the room. "Mm, that's better. Mooney, would you be a dear and circulate the air in here outside to get rid of that stench?" "GLADLY!" Mooney said with enthusiasm. Soon, Mooney's eyes were glowing a bit and it seemed that a cool, yet refreshing breeze came out of no where, in spite of the opened window. In mere moments, the stench had been circulated out the window and far away to dissipate in the open air while the fresh air from outside had been circulated in, bringing with it the smell of the nature outside. "Ah, much better. Complete with that fresh pine scent." Outai said, jokingly, "Thank you, Mooney, you're a good friend and kitty." "Believe me, it was my pleasure." Mooney said, finally removing his paw from his nose and looking around. Mooney spotted the female kitty - who looked badly battered and gave off a dangerous aura - and smiled at her. He always was the friendly type. Unless, of course, he was forced to be mean. Then he could be a regular sadist. "Why, hello there!" he said in a friendly tone.
Suddenly, an android entered the room, asking for everyone to leave. Outai nodded silently and exited the room, waiting outside for the others. heart ...and now let me return the favor for you. heart

"I happen to be said spider.... It was not my plan to force them out of the room, yet I appreciate your sense of privacy, oh man of the klacks. " He noted that his vision showed him dozens of little clockwork apes, all banging on little drums, and falling out of the speakers a**. he had not thought that technological progress was that good around here. "AAAh, and unless my eyes decieve me, I have not seen one of your kind since a very very long time..., " he said after the last one had left the room. "The girl is a telepath, isn't she? I allways get a craving for some peyote and adrenochrome when Dealing with telepaths. Plus, I heard voices that had such a clouded intebnt, not like the voices I am used to. Well, anyway, to not steal more from your time, either you are attrackted by insane minds, or you are in poisession / controll, which argument seems to support itself by the fact that you know my name, and that you have found me so very very fast. So, man of the clockworks, what do you want to do with me? And by the way, I am terribly sorry for my demonstration of my bowel disruptor, but the guy asked me if I had any weapons, and I wanted to show him..."
Cat was confused. owner rambled on and on, and did not even stop for little pills like usually. And then, there where voices from above, telling her stuff she did not understand. Cat was confused. She strode on, this time to the ticktock man. he had no such thing as owner, all voices screaming and hollering, he was somehow calöming, and rather quiet. Purring, she waltzed over to him, and placed herself over his boot.

Riku looked up as Joel entered, and saw the strange look that crossed his face. He looked under the table, and Riku followed him. What he assumed was either a psychopath or a dude tripping on Alice Dee was down there, foaming at the mouth and holding an ugly-as-sin cat.
"What the hell? Security!" Riku yelled, and two guards rushed in. "Get this guy out of here. He's interrupting the meeting." The guards nodded, and went under the table to retrieve the man. Riku stood up, and cleared his throat.
"Sorry about that. Don't know how I missed him. Anyways, let's begin." He looked over one of the techies, who nodded and pressed a button on the holo projector. A view of the planet popped up, and zoomed in on the Himalayas. It showed a small temple entrance, surrounded by snow.
"We've found the Emperium Blade," Riku said slowly. "It's been relocated to this location in Nepal, for reasons unknown."
The map zoomed out, and rezoomed on a location in China. It showed the Gobi Desert, and what looked like a small army crossing it. Tanks, helicopters, APCs- all bearing a familiar symbol.
"Unfortunately, Kavinsky's also found it. We need to retrieve the blade before he does. If they get to that Blade before us, it could have mean the end of this world, should Thanatos invade."
"I assembled you here, because I need your help getting the blade. The Emperium will have a significant affect on my Chaos abilities, so I'm not sure I can take on all those troops. We'll be flown to Kathmandu, where a V-22 Osprey will fly us up the mountain to the temple entrance. It's Nepal, so obviously, dress warm."
He sighed, then continued. "I don't need to tell you that it won't be easy. These are some of Kavinsky's best troops, and there's a possib- no, I'm certain he's sent at least one Uroboros, possibly more, to ensure the blade's capture or destruction. I can't guarantee any of us will make it back. If you've got any business to attend to, I'd do it fast. We leave in five hours."
He sat back down, and the holo projector turned off. "So, any questions?"

A flicker of intuition lit up in her eyes as Korie saw Larry grow more alert, almost jumpy. She followed the small beam of light that barely cut through the darkness and barely winced as branches still scratched at her arms and knees. There wasn't even a sliver of moonlight, just complete darkness, making it even harder to see. But the farther they walked, it didn't seem like town was getting any closer... "I wonder if the townspeople know anything about our book dealer...Wait, they do speak English, right?" Korie asked randomly, when she suddenly remembered how small villages and towns, when cut off of 'ordinary' civilization, had their own language and customs. Well, they did have an English-sounding town name...And the bookstore...Korie shook her head from the tiny distraction she made herself, muttering something incoherent to even her own ears, as she pushed another branch from her path.

heart You found my heart and rebuilt it from dust... heart "Nepal, eh?" Outai said to herself after the debriefing, "it's been a while. I can see how we'd be of assistance, Mooney." "Yeah, especially me, am I correct?" "Both of us together, as usual, and of course those we are assisting. It's by no means a one person job." "Of course. If this turns out to be like Russia all those years ago, I'd better get good salmon for helping out." "Rest assured, you will anyway." "Yippee!" "A question, sir." Outai said, speaking up, "What positions will each of us will be taking once we reach our destination?"

The android stood there and listened to the druggie ramble about telepathy and clock people. He also tried to ignore the ugly a** cat rubbing up against his leg. Once LSD man was finished talking, the android opened his mouth to speak... Only to be interrupted by people barging into the meeting room to conduct a meeting. He lifted up his foot to get the cat off of it.
When the guards where instructed to remove the madman, the android stood in their way. "I did not give you permission to touch this man. Get." The guards responded by giving the android a rather funny look. The android bent down and look them in the eyes. "That is an order, and get this man some coffee or something."
The presentation being conducted by Riku was now under way. The android listened while he spoke to Spider. He knew how important this meeting was. He bent down and talked to Spider. "Hey, I need you and your Cheshire cat to follow to my office. I will get you squared away."

Spider smiled. Without a word, sure in his motions, and remarkably quiet for a person that was under the impression that the floor consisted of writhering snakes, he danced through the arms of the guards, placed the empty coffee can and a box that had been filled with doughnuts on the supplies table, turned around and grabbed his cat. "OK, ok, I will follow you to your office, even on the offchance that you have coffee there. " He waited untill the guards, the man and himself had left the room, only to close the door behind himself, and turn towards the guards. "I think you guys can bugger off now, right? I mean, obviously, that guy here has me by the crotch, as he is totally cool and stuff, and I can barely walk straight, right? Well, to make it more interesting, if you don't bugger off again, I will slip something in your meals that will make you feel very sleepy, and then I will sew my cat into your pants, and then kick it.... got the picture?" He grinned, and turned around to the android. "So, mate, who are you, why did you know my name, and is to get someone squared away this fabulous new slang I keep hearing so much about?"

"You, me, Joel, Shadow and the other higher ranked members will be entering the temple," Riku responded to Outai's question ((if your char has another name, let me know)). "The rest will remain outside with SAMs and a couple of MGs. Since the only way to the temple is by air, the Stingers will come in handy for dealing with any choppers. Their job is to hold off Kavinsky's troops as long as possible." He paused, took a drink of water, and continued. "Of course, if the Uroboros come, they'll be in trouble."
He looked around again, and continued. "If that's all, this meeting is ajourned. I have to get prepared for the mission. See you all in five hours." He got up, and began to head for the door.

((Requiem beat me by five minutes. xp I'll get a code name for Outai in the next post.
Baltazaar, I like your new character. Shame that Joel doesn't.))
This Spider Jerusalem was very lucky that Sokato had come in when he did. Joel had been on the verge of having the loon hauled off to the local nuthouse. He could not find any reason why he should hire a raving addict who probably couldn't tell the difference between friend and foe. Sokato would have his work cut out for him if his plans involved anything other than a straitjacket.
With that settled, he turned his attention to Requiem's presentation. Something looked familiar on the map, but he couldn't place it. Earth geography was new to him. He could place the enemy army. According to the legend, they were about a thousand miles away from their destination. It sounded pretty far, but helicopters could cross that distance in about six hours - less if they hurried. Fortunately, they would have to travel slower to keep pace with the army beneath them. "One problem with that plan, Requiem. We don't have a private army like they do. All we can afford is the couple of guys at the front door, and they're mostly for show. It's just the few of us against all of them." Actually, the guards at the front door had never succeeded at preventing anyone from entering the building in the entire history of Mishap Mercenaries. They probably didn't know which end of a SAM should point up. "Of course, that doesn't mean the plan can't work, only Outai and Shadow will be taking the place of an army. Do whatever you have to do, you two, but make sure that the enemy troops are too busy to interfere. Requiem, go for the sword, but call for one of them the moment you suspect an Uruboros has slipped past them. Don't try to take the big guys on alone - that sword will cripple you. Everyone, bring radios and stay in contact with each other. We make our escape the instant we have the sword. If everyone's clear on their duties, we'll meet in the portal room when everyone is ready to go." With the slight change in plans cleared up, Joel repeated Requiem's earlier action of heading for the door. He had to find out what weapons in the armory had been restocked since the raid a few days ago.

Shadow nodded his understanding and waited for the two officers to leave. He was understood how easy it was for orders to change due to different view points. He didn't let it bother him. He tried to think of the weapons he should try to aquire for this.
Hmmm. Outai and I will be fending off an army. My katana will be efficient, but perhaps not efficient enough. I will have to assume the enemy will be using guns. I should have little trouble with small projectiles. If we have a 50 cal, I'll be able to use it with perhaps more accuracy than usual. But what should I use if they get close, other than their melee weapons? Thats always fun, but I'm not fighting on my own this time. Perhaps I should get my hands on a Battle axe, preferably with a metal handle. I wish I had that Demonic axe I used 2 years ago, against demons. Hehe.
He decided to first call his friend and have him get his pet. Shadow stepped outside and mentally reached out for the messanger hawk he had befriended in one of his much earlier tasks. The hawk took no time in ariving for it was still near by from the last mission he did. 'Hello friend. Could I ask you to fetch Guardiana for me? Have her either come here ASAP, or go to Nepal, which ever is closer. Thank you.'
The hawk informed Shadow that his pet was much closer to HQ than anything else, and it wouldn't take long for her to get here. The hawk then left.
Shadow now had to go look in the armory to find useful weapons. He headed in that direction.
