Oh my, it seems I missed quite a bit while I was gone. Why do you guys all choose the one day I'm gone to do everything? xD Oh well, I'm still happy. I just went from having about ten pairs of jeans to about thirty. I love free clothes. <3

Robots regarding themselves as gods and trying to take over the world, forcing man-kind and robots to fight an everlasting struggle for domination of the world/universe.
It's not like I haven't read that in any sci-fi books. Ya know? Lol. Why not try something along the lines of...

Comet falls to earth.
Comet is filled with unique enzymes which soon change the way plants produce.
Plants end up producing the enzyme with oxygen forcing the worlds supply of oxygen to become corrupted.
Thousands of species are forced in to rapid evolution, forcing the world to change forever and a struggle for top of the food-chain.
