Oh... so this Al Capone wannabe wasn't Bill after all. Interesting. Karrigan's shy smile widened ever so slightly in response to his gangster impression, and she extended her own hand so that she could shake his. "Venerax," she repeated, knowing that saying his name aloud would help her to remember it later. "I'm Karrigan. Karrigan Roberts," she said, her voice still fairly quiet though oddly monotonous.
She pulled her hand back to try and avoid any awkwardness, and rubbed her hands together almost subconsciously. "But yes, Bill has been expecting me. I think," she added a bit nervously. Her flight instinct hadn't quite faded yet as she was still fighting the urge to turn around and run, but she forced her feet to stay rooted to the ground, mostly because she hated to think of what Ikouma would do if he discovered that she'd chickened out at the last moment. "Should we go in?" she asked, tucking a strand of red hair behind her ear. It seemed her quick bike ride had caused her barrettes to come loose and she scolded herself silently for not fixing them before ringing the doorbell.
=-=-=-=-= Growling angrily, Shelgon pushed on with all her might, even when she felt the cold sting of Hitmonchan's Ice Punch against her body. She shivered, knowing that it could have been a lot more powerful than it actually was. With one final grunt she thrust her body forward, and just like that it was all over. She barely had time to get a look at the unconscious Hitmonchan before he was being recalled, and the dragon stamped her feet proudly as the referee declared her master the winner. She turned and ran back towards him, her heavy steps thundering the entire way.
Jaeshan was still staring out at the battlefield as it hadn't quite sunk in yet that he'd won, and suddenly he was being bowled over by an excited and very round dragon. "We did it!" he cheered, though his voice was muffled, and he wrapped his arms around the dragon's thick, steely shell for a moment or two before Shelgon let him get up. Laughing, Jaeshan pulled himself up and brushed the dirt from his knees before he faced Brawly, a wide grin plastered to his face. Shelgon plodded along happily beside him as he walked towards Brawly to claim his prize. "Thank you," he said, accepting the little box and looking at the shiny Knuckle Badge that was gleaming up at him. "This is one of the toughest battles I've ever had, but it was great," he said honestly. "I don't think I'm ever going to forget that one."

The bandanna-clad punk laughed raucously when the Ralts' body was consumed by paralysis and it couldn't even force out a measly little growl. The Ekans seemed to share in his master's amusement and he too let out a hissing laughter. "Not so tough now, are you?" the punk called out, though it was unclear as to whom he was shouting at, Jiro or Tyra. "Chomp 'em with a Bite attack!" he laughed maliciously. This would be good. The snake slithered forward, fangs bared and obviously quite happy to be able to try and take a chunk out of the cheeky Jiro. It rose up, hissing menacingly as it lunged forward, fangs glistening, but that was all that happened. It seemed that Jiro's ability, Synchronize, had kicked in when the Ralts had become paralyzed, thus inflicting the Ekans with the same status Jiro had just suffered. The Ekans was frozen in place only inches from the tiny Ralts, mouth gaping open. It's eyes were wide with surprise as a light breeze kicked up and the snake toppled over, still rigid as a board.
Miharu smiled when she saw that Sparkle's Cotton Spore had been a success and she raised her hand. "Okay Sparkle, now show them the power of your Thunderbolt!" Miharu was quite glad she'd splashed out to purchase the TM for her Flaaffy. Sparkle bleated excitedly, letting go of the Taillow as static started crackling from her wool before she directed a bright blue surge of electricity towards the blue and red bird, this one aimed a little more carefully than her previous Thundershock. Petunia, meanwhile had been leering dauntingly at the Treecko as it picked itself up off the ground and then began to charge at Petunia, fists ready to strike. Petunia snorted and puffed her chest out, her thick shell shimmering a bit as she Hardened it in order to fend off more damage. The Stagbeetle Pokemon seemed to chuckle as the gecko bounced off her stomach, though she felt pain radiating all the way down her spine and through her legs. Though small, the grassy lizard was tough.

Riza smiled a bit at the remainder of Keegan's story. It had been a sad one, yet with a happy ending. 'And now little Helios is a grown up Ninetails,' she thought, though she could see the hurt and anger on his face as clear as day. Her smile quickly faded though and she slunk back in her seat as the red head snapped at her. Just then the waitress set her food down in front of her and she was thankful for the distraction, though she only poked at her salad to start. "You don't have to put it like that," she mumbled, obviously a little hurt by the stinging tone he'd taken with her. "I'm just trying to help. It's not good to keep your feelings bottled up inside." She shut up then and decided just to eat, occasionally glancing up at Keegan and shaking her head at the way he ate. She wanted to say something about it but in a joking tone to try and crack the tension, but she was worried she'd already made him angry enough for now. 'I guess I'll just drop it,' she thought, looking down at her salad. The vegetables were all fresh and crispy, save for the lettuce which was kind of droopy. "How's your burger?" she asked finally, deciding to drop all of their previous subjects in one fell swoop.

"Your going down losers. Go on Slakoth, yawn." Tom said with hesitation. Slakoth opened its wide mouth and began to take a big breath. Magmar looked at the slow pokemon as it inhaled and laughed. "Whats so funny you stupid pokemon?" Tim said insulted. How dare someone laugh at him he thought. "I wouldn't piss him off kid." Rogar said shaking his head. "Don't even try it Magmar, we'll just lose if you do." Magmar looked at Rogar with an angry glare and began spewing toxic fumes. "What are you doing!" Breaker coughed at Rogar. "We can't lose to these twerps." "We won't get anywhere, those kids were right, I don't think Magmar has it in him." Rogar gave Magmar a disgusted look. As the toxic fumes released, they slowly over took Slakoth. Slakoth's eyes widened as he inhaled the smog released from Magmar and let out a horrific cough and seemed to even turn an awful shade of green. "Hey what's the big idea you jerks! Go on ponyta tackle that stinky Magmar of his." Tim demanded. "Lets end this with a bang!" Ponyta raised up and let out a big neigh as it's feet came back to the ground and began to charge at Magmar. Ponyta slammed into the back of Magmar who was leering at Rogar to no avail. "What are you doing over there you two! Reverie put out that pony's flames." Reverie, who was not very effect on ground, did the best she could do with her attack and sent a small chunk of dirt into Ponyta's face. "Ha, I should just walk away now, your no good to me when you need a FISH to protect you." Rogar said turning his back to Magmar. "Unless you can prove me wrong by getting back up and attacking something." Magmar stood up quickly and spit up small embers from it's mouth, hitting the still coughing slakoth. "Hey!" Tom yelled." Slakoth lets get that fish, ponyta can take on that flamer." Slakoth slowly raised up his body and began to make his way to Reverie. "Hey a little help would be great Rogar." Breaker said as he watched the Slakoth slowly approach. "Do your best to get away Reverie" And so she did but despite her speed in water, she was still to slow even compared to even the slowest slakoth. It was only a matter of time as Breaker watched the Slakoth whack Reverie with it's long claws and sent her tumbling away. Slakoth than fell to the ground and closed it's eyes. Rogar ignored Breakers pleas for assitance."Oh come on Magmar, your going to attack a helpless slakoth, when you have a much bigger challenge right infront of you." Rogar said mockingly as Tim's Ponyta slammed back into Magmar, sending him to the ground again. Magmar glared at Rogar who had once again turned his back. "Well what are you going to do, eh Magmar?" Rogar asked knowingly. Magmar rolled over and spit more embers, but this time right into the face of the Ponyta. The surprised Ponyta stumbled backwards and let out a rather loud winnie.

"Sure you will, cause our rematch 'll be even better!" Brawly said in response to Jaeshan's comment, also handing him a slip of money as well as a TM. "I didn't get to use that in this match, but that's Bulk Up. A move that raises a pokemon's defense and attack, perfect for takign blows and giving a few of your own! It's great getting to let loose every now and then, and not it's time to let loose even more on some gnarly swells only found here on Dewford." He said with a wide grin, handing his pokeballs to one of the trainers who would run them to the pokecenter. Brawly took hold of his Surfboard and walked Jaeshan out of the gym. "You're a cool dude Jae, you gotta catch a wave with us some time. My friends and I like to travel in search of perfect swells, maybe we'll see you out there."

Alex stayed quiet as she dished out the mac and cheese for her and Serenity. Sere could tell that she was trying to come up with a way to answer her question. Alex wasn't over protective, but she always thought that Sere was too young still to be dealing with all the dangers that were out there. She didn't want to loser her sister the way they had lost their parents. Sere was sure that the battle that had taken place in Slateport had brought more of those anxieties out. Serenity looked down at the burn scar that wrapped around her wrist. She could try to explain to Alex that the whole event was probably quite helpful in getting her to be a bit more outgoing and getting her to stand up for herself more. She figured though that it probably wouldn't do any good.
"Well?" She asked again.
Alex put the bowls down on the table and sat down. "I think you need to go out and do the training." She said quietly. "That doesn't mean that i'm not allowed to worry about what happens on the road."
Serenity nodded. "You can send messages to me while I am over in Sinnoh. Everyday." She smiled.
"You can count on it. And you better reply. I can get pretty worried if you don't remember." Alex winked at her sister.
They spent the rest of dinner talking about their plans for the evening. By the time that she had finished eating Alex had actually gotten Serenity excited about the Gala. It would take her a while to get the make-up just right to cover the bruises, and dancing would be difficult with her shoulder. Still, she could use a night of fun.

Jaeshan nodded and accepted the TM. He wasn't sure, but he thought that either Blaziken already knew it, or she could learn it. He'd have to look it up later. He put the prize money in his wallet as Brawly escorted him out, nodding along as the surfer spoke. "I've done some surfing in my time, so I'd say it's not impossible," he chuckled, though the last time he'd attempted to go surfing it had ended quite badly. He'd grown a lot over a short period of time and he wasn't quite used to his new height and he'd still been quite lanky and uncoordinated, but he figured he'd probably do better now. He thanked Brawly again and promised that he'd be back someday for that rematch, as he knew that both of them would be looking forward to it.
Jaeshan left the Dewford Gym with a very happy Shelgon on his heels, and the glimmering Knuckle Badge in his hands. He admired it again and again as he walked towards the Pokemon Center, and though it had initially been his main goal, having the match trigger Blaziken's evolution was the biggest reward of all. That Blaze Kick was so powerful... and incredible, he thought as he stopped just short of the center and pulled the Hoenn Badge case from his backpack. He carefully placed the Knuckle Badge next to the Stone Badge and he gave each a quick shine with his sleeve before he snapped it closed and put it back in it's place. He congratulated Shelgon one more time before he returned the eager dragon to her Pokeball. She's so energetic, he thought as he grabbed a tray from the stack and placed Metang, Blaziken and Shelgon's Pokeballs in the slots before he got in line for treatment. He decided then that he wouldn't leave Dewford just yet, and that perhaps he'd take his team and head out to Granite Cave for some training. He knew it was fairly close to where he was now, so it shouldn't take too long to get there.
=-=-=-=-= Misty looked up at the shimmering cloud of purple powder that was drifting down towards her Horsea and she nodded, knowing exactly what to do. "Horsea, aim a Water Pulse at the surface of the water!" She knew this tactic was risky, and that it would probably leave them open to another attack from the little Hoppip, but she was running out of ideas. The water itself was beginning to clear up as most of the murkiness had started to fade, leaving clear patches of water here and there. I hope that blackness doesn't leave a ring in the pool, Misty thought idly.
Horsea scooted backwards a bit, inadvertently running into some of the seeds that the Hoppip had scattered before and it let out a startled cry, feeling some of its energy being slowly sapped away. Even as one of the vines entwined itself around it's tail, the small Dragon Pokemon reared back and fired a pulsating blue orb at the water in front of it. It quickly grew larger before slamming the already rough surface of the pool, making a big splash and effectively creating a shielding 'dome' of water that protected Horsea from the Poison Powder. "That's the way!" Misty cheered, but she could tell that her beloved Pokemon was starting to get tired, and that Leech Seed wouldn't help matters in the long run either.

The punk girl stood there eyes widened and her mouth dropped as the blue thunderbolts hit the taillow hard! The small bird stumbled backwards to get away from the sheep pokemon.
“That’s not going to stop us! Taillow Wing attack!” The blue and red bird stretched its wings out as far as they would go. “The Pinsir!” Before the bird could crash its wings together it switched directions and headed for the bug pokemon on its other side. The change of opponents was a bit shocking for the bird but followed orders. “Alright Treecko!” The grass lizard shook itself off from the tumble it had taken and was up in its fighting stance. “Absorb from that sheep!” The girl called out pointing at the electrically charged sheep. Treecko threw out his hands towards the Flaaffy and narrowed its eyes to focus as it attempted to get some of the health back. The girl was fighting hard to make sure her pokemon could stay in this battle. The hard hit that Taillow took had shook her up some.
As the Ekans’ fangs had come close to Jiro Tyra was thankful for her shades covering the fear that she felt in her eyes. Tyra fought the urge to fall over in laughter. Her Ralts may not have been able to attack but having the punk eat his own words was delicious. As the Ekans had fallen to the ground Tyra straightened her back to keep her height and hopefully her intimidation going. This punk was not going to bring down Jiro. “CONFUSION!!!” She yelled with all her might. It was down but not out, and she wasn’t one to back out of a fight. Jiro listening to his trainer’s commands jumped back a bit to get a bit of distance. The fangs had put a bit of fear into the small Ralts. Jiro placed his hands on his head as he tried to get the rainbow waves of confusion to attack the fallen snake.

Robin let out a low whistle at the pretty sight of the water dome, at her side Luffy let out a loud impressed sound. It sure was am impressive and beautiful sight, it was something Robin was coming to expect in this water gym.
In the air Brook felt some of the water from the dome splash up onto him and he winced slightly but he landed down on the water before launching himself up again into the air and into safety. Now that the water was clearing up Brook could kinda see down into it. Looking over at his trainer and Luffy he spun around once in the air before pointing down into the water.
Seeing Brooks cue Robin grinned widely before placing one hand on her him and waving her other hand out. "Haha! With the water clearing up I am sure that Brook can make a good shot this time! Brook lets use your Bullet Seed one more time! See if you can hit that Horsea now!" Robin laughed.
Well that didn't sound like the hardest thing to do! Brook was gaining a bit of hope that he might be able to pull this out for Robin and himself! Gathering his strength he puffed out his small checks before spitting them out aiming at what he hoped was the Horsea.

Dante watched the battle for a moment with mild interest before glancing back at Mitsu. "I saw Kasiya earlier." Was all he said for a moment. He didn't really know if his mom could get another person into the gala... She might be able to, he wasn't exactly sure. It would never hurt to ask though, so he just shrugged at her question. "I dunno if my mom could get him in, I could always ask her. We would have to wait til they finish though, and I don't know when that will happen."

"Ahhhh... fresh air," Brynn was relieved to be free from the crowded ship. She let Homeskillet out. She never liked to keep him in there, but he started to eat the other, innocent sailors' luggage. She looked at the sunrise over the ocean with its perfect blend of blue, pink, purple and yellow. She turned around and started walking towards the train station. "Well we might want to train you a little Homeskillet before we go to Ecrueteak, so let’s start of somewhere with lower levels like..." she pulled out her map and searched for cities she has heard about, "Rustboro," She decided it sounded nice and she had heard good things about it. Brynn started dragging along Homeskillet to the train away from anything edible... or nonedible. She put Homeskillet into the ball and sat on the itchy seat for the long ride. She occupied herself by eating her crackers in a baggie and chatting with people around her, even though many tried to ignore her and go to sleep.
"I have three cute contest ribbons and four cool contest ribbons," boasted a lady in a yellow dress. "Excuse me but may i ask what a contest is?" inquired Brynn. The lady went on and on explaining and boasting, clairifying and bragging. "That sounds like fun," Brynn commented, and the lady replied, "Fun is for the amateurs, if you want to be successful you must concentrate, this stuff is serious." And with that Brynn ignored the rude lady.
Brynn stumbled down the steps onto the platform. “If I keep on taking trains everywhere and stop walking I’m going to be huge,” Brynn mumbled to herself. She started parading around trying to find some form of life in the grass on the outskirts of town. Finally a Wingull appeared.
“Homeskillet, Zen Head butt!” She started sparking as energy gathered in her head but then the Wingull managed to dodge the attack. “Come back! Let’s try tackle.” This time she hit him by gathering all her energy and sprinting to tackle him. “Good! Now use Metronome,” It got dark overhead as clouds rolled in and lightning struck the Wingull. It had used Thunder Bolt. "Keep on going Homeskillet, use zen Headbutt again," Once again psychic energy gather in her head gettin stronger and stronger, glowing now using up all her energy she made her final blow. The Wingull was knocked unconscious.
"Good girl,' Brynn praised as she fed her the berry he had been found with. "Now how would you like to be in a contest."

Karrigan nodded politely and stepped past the threshold and into the lighthouse itself, allowing Venerax to lead the way. She took in the many strange pictures and portraits on the walls, not sure what to make of Bill's taste in art. A lot of the pieces seemed to be at least centuries old, and many depicted Pokemon that Karrigan had never seen before. She did notice that there seemed to be a lot of images of Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon as well, though she wasn't surprised that those three were the only ones she saw.
Realizing she was lagging behind Venerax a little she jogged a bit to catch up, still wearing her ever-present shy little smile. "I'm from Snowpoint City in Sinnoh," she replied quickly, though just mentioning her hometown's name was enough to remind her that she was a little homesick. Since Snowpoint City was perpetually covered in snow, everything was always so quiet there. Karrigan still wasn't quite used to how noisy everywhere else seemed to be. "What about you?" she asked finally. "Where are you from?" She decided that the idle conversation would help to keep her mind off the fact that a lot of the images on the walls seemed to be staring at them as they walked.
=-=-=-=-= "Oh no, Horsea! Try to dodge it!" Misty called, knowing that if the little seahorse were to be hit by that, it would be done for, and then she'd be down to her last Pokemon. Horsea wasn't about to argue with that command and it made a desperate attempt to swim away from the oncoming seeds. However, the Leech Seed vine that had snaked around his tail had other ideas, and even as he struggled to free himself it continued to sap away his health as well as leaving him wide open to the full barrage of seeds coming from the Hoppip. The tiny Dragon Pokemon cried out painfully before slumping over in the water and Misty didn't hesitate to recall him. "You did very well Horsea," Misty said, holding the sphere close to her heart. "Take a good rest, I'm proud of you." She then took out her final Pokeball and held it up, taking a deep breath before she glanced over at Robin. "That's it, you've forced me to pull out my ace," she said, and then lobbed the Pokeball into the pool, which seemed much less dangerous now that the Leech Seeds had disappeared with Horsea's defeat. "Misty calls Starmie!"
The evolved form of Staryu took shape in the water now, it's ruby-red core gem reflecting the gym's lights twinkling beautifully beneath the water. "Let that Hoppip have it, Starmie! Swift attack!" Starmie twirled around gracefully under the water, quickly firing a steady stream of crystalline stars that shot up from the water's surface like dozens of sparkling shurikens, each homing in on the little Hoppip.

"Sinnoh, eh? I've not been there before, maybe I'll get around there eventually," He chuckled ruefully. He ran his hand through newly cut hair. "Me? I'm from Celadon city, but I get around. Not always the most efficient way though."
They entered the large foyer as he continued, the massive stone mural lit by the large skylight overhead. "I ended up here after getting a bit turned around when I tumbled off the beaten path. My direction sense wasn't very fine tuned. I'm just better at reading street signs and people, that's what you get when you grow up in a big city." He laughed some more.
"Hey! Bill! I've got your guest here!" Venerax called up to the researcher as he started mounting the steps of the dias.=====
Crush lay flat on his board his powerful strokes pulling him forward. He could feel it coming in. He stopped for a moment, his hands still in the water feeling the sea water.
And there it was, hopping onto his feet even as the momentum began to pick up Crush got his balance as the wave began to rise up before him. "Aloha, my friend, I'm just gonna hop on with you to shore."
Then the wave had him and his board. He kept his balance and glided along it surface. It began to crest and Crush got lower on his board as he caught the pipe. His one hand traced a path in the rolling water as he flew out the other end of the crest.

Karrigan nodded, not entirely sure where Celadon City was, though she did know it was in Kanto, and that it was where Kanto's Game Corner was located. She only knew that because a few years ago she and Candice took a trip to Veilstone, where Sinnoh's Game Corner was, to see one of Candice's favourite bands play. "Reading people?" she repeated quietly, not quite sure what he meant, but she let it slide. She stuck close to Venerax, wondering just how much further they would have go to before they started up a short flight of steps, almost jumping a little when he called out to Bill. She waited for the famous researcher to acknowledge her before she gave a little bow and introduced herself, though the young man that stood before her was still not quite what she expected. Don't judge a book by it's cover, I suppose, she thought, though she quite impressed by the setup she saw. It reminded her of the way Professor Rowan's lab looked, and she couldn't help but wonder if Bill had any Pokemon here.
=-=-=-=-= The line seemed to barely move at all, but Jaeshan hardly noticed. In his mind he was replaying the battle over and over again. He could still clearly see Combusken as she refused to dodge the Medicham's Thunderpunch, and the surprising yet fiery evolution that followed. He couldn't stop thinking of how powerful her Blaze Kick and Flamethrower attacks had grown. And she'll only keep getting stronger, he thought, grinning from ear to ear. Oblivious to the grumblings of the other annoyed trainers around him, Jaeshan finally had his turn and still grinning like an idiot he shoved the tray of Pokeballs across the counter top towards the pink-haired nurse, the same one who'd been working earlier. "How was your battle?" she asked tiredly, though she didn't really wait around for a response from Jaeshan and took the tray to get his Pokemon treated.
It was a short while later when Jaeshan's three Pokemon were returned to him, and Jaeshan thanked the frazzled nurse and went on his way, now humming quietly to himself. His stomach grumbled noisily then and he stopped, frowning. "I guess we earned a victory lunch," he murmured, pivoting on a heel and turning to head back inside the center. About an hour later he reemerged, fed and just as happy as he was before. "Now, onward to Granite Cave," he said aloud before heading in the proper direction.

As he ate Keegan's anger slowly dissolved and he started to feel much better, though he was still annoyed at Riza for pressing the matter. He doubted talking about it would make the situation easier; even just thinking about it was enough to fill him with rage. "Food's fine," he mumbled, taking a moment to wipe his mouth with a napkin, and though grateful for the change of subject, didn't say anything else. The two finished their respective meals in silence, and Keegan somewhat politely turned the waitress down when she handed him the dessert menu. "Just the check, please," he said, not caring if Riza had wanted something else or not. He knew from experience there'd be food and desserts at the Gala so there was no need to waste more money than necessary. "We'd better hurry up, we don't have much time left," he said, looking towards Riza as he drummed his fingers on the tabletop. ===== "Ack, no! Ekans get up right this instant!" the punk shouted, knowing that psychic attacks such as Confusion were strong against his poison type Ekans. The snake twitched and writhed before it managed to get back into an upright position but not before getting blasted by a wave of shimmering rainbow energy. The Ekans hissed angrily yet still didn't fall, though it glared menacingly at the Ralts. "Use Wrap! Immobilize that little punk!" the trainer shouted, starting to look a little panicked. He cast a glance over at his partner, trying to remember why they had started something in the first place. The purple snake quickly lurched forward, fully intent on ensnaring the annoying Ralts tightly in its coils.
Petunia's already hardened carapace helped to protect her somewhat as the Taillow's sturdy wings bashed into her side, but the hit was a super-effective one and the Stagbeetle stumbled back, clutching at the wound in her armor. Miharu frowned, and pointed at the little bird. "Petunia, use Faint Attack!" she shouted, knowing that this one couldn't miss. The Pinsir rushed forward, a dark aura eclipsing her body until she vanished completely, reappearing a moment or so later behind the small bird, preparing to lay into it with her claws and horns. Meanwhile the Flaaffy staggered back as a chunk of her stamina was drained away by the crafty little Treecko, and sparks flared from her wool before she unleashed a weak jolt of electricity - a Thunder Wave on Miharu's command - towards the gecko.
