She held up a hand in case he was going to continue. "What you did is seen as a misuse of ijutsu by those who believe - and rightly so - that ijutsu has only one real purpose." She put her hand down. "However."
She met his eyes and held them. "It was not technically a misuse. Just a use that is not often worked with, because such things are never," there was definitely emphasis on that "the goals of true ijutsu masters. You, on your own, figured out how to use ijutsu for harm." She sighed a little. "You can see why this would make me pensive, yes?"

Seph met her eyes and never looked away. There was a knot in his stomach that made him very anxious. He wasn't going to argue with her, though.

"What you did yesterday is a part of ijutsu. It's a dangerous part, one that could be abused and misused because of how powerful it is." She noticed that he didn't look away. "I know how to use it, but I was taught. And the only person I teach it to is my shojiki. It's too corrupted - and can too easily run unchecked - to be presented to even the other Kage." It might be a hard question to answer, but... "Did Hwen teach you this?"

Seph paused for a split second, "No," he shook his head slowly, "she used to help me with the easier techniques, but she never went any deeper than deep-tissue restoration."

" I asked about the rank system...just wondering at what rank I'll be starting at here, compared to my rank back home." She prided herself on leaving out a big, detailed account of her question. Sometimes she was just too damned wordy. "Is Nyl going to be alright? She barely has any chakra at all...just enough."

I can warn you, though, that after using ijutsu in that 'corrupt' way it has a tendency to backfire in a similar manner for up to a week afterward. It depends on how practiced at it you are - and you won't get much practice - and how powerful your use of it was." She kept her voice serious. "Do you understand the implications of the power you now have?"
Because his choosing to use ijutsu to do harm - even in self-defense, even to defend himself and Syoku - was unsettling. Not very much unsettled Nyl anymore, but the mental image of what Seph could do, as powerful and intelligent as he was, froze her thoughts in their tracks.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't start your training here at a Chuunin level. We rank based on the average threat levels of the corresponding ranks in most Ninja villages. Someone as strong as a Jounin, would be classified as a Jounin here, and you get the point.

And Nyl will be fine. She and Seph just got back from a mission not too long ago, and it took a lot out of them.

"Oh good...it was going to be really discouraging to accept a demotion." She set the empty glass down on the table-top. " But if I don't perform to your standard, I wll of course be set back a level." It seemed to natural course of action.
"I'd like to start training as soon as possible." Which was quite true, but she also wanted to sleep, and no real idea as to the time.
Trying to come up with a safe, not-too-invasive question about the mission, she pondered briefly before adding. "What rank was their mission?"

"I do." He nodded to her firmly. He was seriously not looking forward to the backfiring she was talking about. His eyes smiled at her reassuringly. He'd have much rather been taught the ability instead of it being developed out of instinctual necessity. Just as Seph develops Ho techniques on the fly most of the time, it appeared that was beginning to filter into his Ijutsu as well.

"So if I were you, I'd wait to use ijutsu again until a day or so after your chakra fully replenishes again. Because it could backfire on you as well as the other person. Or both." She sighed. "I'm not...you know, angry or anything. I might even be slightly proud. But I worry about others figuring out how to make that same choice."

Hmm. It wasn't really ranked, but if I'd have to give it one, I'd say that it was in the high S-Ranked range.

That was a relief. The last thing he wanted was an angry, tired Nyl. "I'll hold off of Ijutsu, then. Go back to the good, old fashioned way of fixing people." He smiled at her. Proud, even!
"It.. wasn't a choice, Nyl. Well, it was, but not a conscience one, I can assure you of that."

"Which, I might add, you're not too shabby at." She wondered if he remembered...but probably not. "An unconscious choice is just as bad. Maybe even worse. Because then the person doesn't know what they have." She looked up at the sky. "But I do trust you and Neko and Hunter and Fuji."

" I'd love to start right away but I'm afraid I'm fairly exhausted. A short rest in my room would probably do me a world of good. I'd hate to try something, and fail because I was tired. I'd be completely mortified." She glanced down at her still-pruned fingers with a tinge of regret. Here, she'd come to prove herself and was too tired to do anything impressive. ((sorry, I have to go to bed. class tomorrow eck...see you all later))
