Richard walked in from the back door, rubbing the back of his neck. He had not had a nice trip. The whole thing was rather stressful actually...his shoulders lifted and fell in a heavy sigh. He was worn out and his usual magic defenses weren't up, he didn't have the stamina for them at the moment.

"Oh...hello Corinne." Richard said, hugging her gently. His face softened. "Oh, just a bit of this and that mi'dear." He said, smiling faintly at her offer to get him something. "Oh no, this is doing me quite fine." He assured her.

Richard paused, blinking once. "I somewhat had to defend myself." He said, not really wanting to get into details, mostly because they were hazy to himself. He wasn't even sure what damage he had caused. He pulled her closer to him, his normal laid back ness disturbed today. "All is not well with my sister. I'm worried. She had agreed to meet me, but instead of her, several mages were there...it...did not go so well."

Richard looked off thinking. "She's the Queen. It's not a simple task. Usually, we meet in the academy. This time, we met elsewhere, and I was attacked." He frowned slightly. It was possible she had tried to kill him...but no. Why would Rachel do that? "...She sent me a letter that was somewhat coded...as if...as if she feared someone was reading her mail. But the only person who could possibly have power to do that, or to threaten her in any way-" Richard was suddenly quiet, a surprised look. "But I can't imagine-surely." He shook his head, realizing he was doing all this speculating and nearly ignoring Corinne. "Don't worry...I'm sure...I'm sure there's an easy answer to all of this..." It made sense though. And if his theory was correct, then he stood in the way...which would explain why an attempt had been made on his life.

Richard smiled faintly again. "Don't worry...Rachel is strong...but no, I don't intend on leaving her alone if she is in some kind of trouble..." He shook his head, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "We may have to go, if I don't hear from her soon." He was worried too, and especially about his two neices.

Richard exhaled slowly. "I know you could. Very reliable you are..." He said softly. He himself was thinking about it.

Richard nodded. "Alright then. You won't really need to pack much...we won't be gone for very long." He said, rubbing a hand across his forehead. "We can get to the academy from my closet..." He murmured, almost to himself. He needed to look over his book first. "Up stairs then, if you don't mind terribly." He said, patting her shoulder before going up himself.
