Critical thinking upsets my little happy polytheist bubble. It's scary to think that my experiences with YHVH and Shiva are more wishful-thinking and contrived rather than authentic.

What do you feel is authentic?

Illiezeulette
I think I might be a bit of a deist. I'm not sure yet. Sometimes it is so frustrating that spirituality is a long process when I would really just like to have all of the answers right now! Gah.

When I feel like that, I look at the answers I already have. They will likely change someday. But that doesn't mean they're wrong.

How can you tell the difference between authentic and contrived?

Today I went and bought knitting needles and I'm working on my third row.
I've already had to start it over again 2 times, just because I miss a loop or something and I can't figure out how to undo it and it's nowhere near as easy as crocheting to fix.
RAWR @ knitting.
Relax, breathe. 3nodding If it frustrates you that badly, walk away and try again later. Maybe after a hot tea or something.

Remember, this is supposed to be a hobby, which is fun. If it bugs you that much, walk away. biggrin
I keep missing a loop and having to start over again. And I keep making it smaller and smaller, lol. Right now it's all sitting on the other couch, not a loop in sight.
I don't think I've ever actually made myself tea before. I have some whenever we go to the local chinese restaurant. Discovered tea tastes excellent with milk in it. Maybe I'll go raid the cabinet and make tea..

Sometimes, I wonder where people's heads are.
I'm all for animal rights, adopting shelter pets, etc. but some people just take it over the edge.
Tonight on another animal guild, a girl posted how her dog just had puppies and it was purebreed. She made a big mistake. She used the words Purebreed and the phrase my dog gave birth. Big no nos in that guild. Anytime you say something like that, they bombard you with how your dog should be spayed and nuttered as soon as possible, how shelter pets are dying as we speak, etc.

Now don't get me wrong, I think that it's a sad thing. But I don't think that people should react so rudely.

So someone who was extremely happy with her experience is now being told because her dog had puppies, others are going to die. Yes its the truth but it's a bit too late to tell her that.

Sometimes I wonder what their opinions are on problems in the HUMAN world. There are elderly people who are abused daily (I've seen it with my own eyes), children being abused, people are homeless. With the way these people talk you'd think they'd choose their furry friends over mankind. talk2hand

Needless to say I quit the guild. I need to find people who are a little bit more in tune with priorities.

Am I wrong?

If she plans on keeping the puppies, it should be no problem. There are many parentless children in the world, but that doesn't mean people should stop having babies.

If she plans on selling them, I hope she's already found possible owners that are trustworthy and responsible. There are a lot of people looking to own a dog that really shouldn't have one, or have not researched the type of dog and how it may or may not be compatible with them/their family. This is a viable concern, but I should think that people would be understanding of these different possible outcomes of her dog giving birth, rather than hearing that and automatically poo-pooing on her joy.

I'll just say that I believed the same thing these people did at one point when I was a new dog owner and immediately spayed my new chihuahua. Later I came to really regret this as she is such a wonderful dog that I wish I could've had her make more dogs like her to love and cherish, or possibly pass on her great personality to other people looking for a dog.

My only actively working colleague in my Egyptian article project decided to leave it for other responsibilities. I don't blame her, but now I'm alone in this. Even though a lot of other people joined the group, no one has committed to working on anything. Everyone wants to reap the benefits of research without having to do it. What the ********. I am really disappointed and at a loss.

You. I hate you. I hate that I built all of these walls to keep myself safe from you and you still manage to hit me through them. I hate that because of these walls I was never able to make friends, because of how afraid I was that they too would be able to hit me when I was behind them if I let them in once. When I finally meet someone who was able to reach me behind them and help me pull them down you come around and I pull them right back up. At the first sign of conflict with him they come up double and that only hurts him which hurts me all the more. I hate you. I hate what I've become because of you. I hate that I can't cut you out of my life. And I hate that I will never be able to tell you because it won't be me you attack but anyone and everyone around you who gets hit with your rage.

I think humans are smart animals, and I don't see "mankind" as having more inherent value than any other species on the planet. I think the obsession with "pure" breeds is, quite frankly, ******** disgusting, and such a byproduct of the commodification of animals. Anthropocentrism makes me want to slam my head against the wall repeatedly.

While I think pregnancy is beautiful, I have a problem with people having 18 kids of their own (for reasons beyond survival. I can understand a farming family having a bunch of kids) when so many go parentless, hungry, and homeless. I find it severely unethical. Same goes for non-human animals. You don't need an effing purebreed, just go to the shelter and pick up another animal that is just as cute and loving.

Edit: Careful using the term "animal rights." The animal welfare movement and the animal rights movement are quite different.

My mother is considering to refuse to help pay my housing costs next year because I am choosing to live with p***s-havers next year. Apparently living with people of the opposite gender, whether I am sleeping with them or not, is an abomination.

When I told her that a house full of girls wouldn't be much of an improvement because I am bisexual, she freaked out and said that I am "out of control" and "need to come home and go to community college." <******** the part where I am currently living with six men, and she apparently does not have a problem with this. Granted, there are 6 other women in the house as well, but apparently the appearance of a woman in my house next year did not assuage her discomfort.

The absolute worst part of being in a long-distance relationship is not being able to hold my boo when she's having a work-related crisis. I can't do panic attacks over the phone! GRR ARGH.

I'd just like to be able to SLEEP for once... you know, sleep the whole night through without waking up a couple hours in and not being able to fall back asleep. neutral

I've been having problems with nightmares as well as an overall bad nights sleep.

I took a candlelight warm bath with a Chamomile tea bag soaked in the water. I did it right before I went to bed. I slept the whole night through. A nice deep relaxing sleep.

I also used to drink Chamomile to relax me before bed.
