As his head snapped to the side, she identified Meredith's scent before Rogue slowly moved her eyes to the woman.

Rogue would love to tear out the lycan's heart. She felt her fangs weigh down for a moment in her mouth thinking about spilling Meredith's blood. She wanted to be covered in it, rejoicing in this being's death.
She grabbed the reigns of her thoughts and pushed around the idea of Meredith seeing them stand here. Rogue's face down her chin and chest were still covered in lycan blood to some extent from the animal she had drained several minutes before.

Rogue's eyes merely narrowed in on Meredith, and she took a long drag on her cigarette, slowly blowing the smoke out pensively and grinning slightly.

For once, Rogue had done nothing wrong, and yet, she knew Meredith was questioning Veroen's loyalty in these very moments.

In conversing with Veroen, Rogue had seen a need to strengthen his hold on himself, that he might not be swallowed by the void. She cared because the darkness fought against her very being, and in time, their fate would become the same...being completely overtaken by the darkness.
She pushed on his memories to ground him.

She herself had to stay grounded.

She had said she would not kill Meredith. Rogue hated that part of this whole encounter. She would stick by her word.
"Out for a jog, Meredith?"

As opposed to her calculated wolven half keeping the emotional human half from being rash and stupid it was now the human half holding back the wolf's urge to rush in and finish the vampire in a split second flat. It wanted nothing more than to rip Rogue's throat out right in front of Veroen and spit her innards in his face. As for the vampire that the human half loved, the wolven half knew it couldn't touch him lest it suffer the wrath of the human half but that didn't mean it didn't want to. And as a result Eden found herself biting back a snarl as well as a threatening growl deep within her throat. Rogue and her had never seen eye to eye and the lycan made it even more difficult to see her side of things now. Instead she spat in Rogue's direction, not bothering to respond to her.

The only reason she was here or the least bit interested was because apparently Veroen had chosen to return to the vampire that had deceived him as opposed to her. Now they were sitting here at a deadlock and apparently he didn't have the balls to say anything to her so it looked like she was going to have to be the man here and speak first. It wasn't her who owed an explanation, though and it wasn't her who kept leaving without saying anything. Not to mention his thoughts betrayed him and the wolf could feel that he was torn between the two of them. It sensed weakness within the vampire and didn't sympathize for him and urged the human to finish him off for being the traitor he was while the human part wanted nothing more than to weep and break down.

However, she did neither of those things, instead standing her ground and pulling out a pack of cigarettes, pulling one out of the pack and lighting it then putting the rest away. She exhaled heavily though it couldn't be heard by the likes of human ears, vampires though, likely would be able to hear it. It was something akin to a sigh and yet it also sounded close to the whimper of a canine. It wasn't difficult to see she wasn't happy despite the collected, glassy gaze she directed toward the man she loved. Was it wise to love him? Probably not. When had she been wise to love any of the men she'd loved? ******** she sucked at picking men.

'Well whoopdie ******** doo ... Looks like I get ******** over again. The vampire elder pretends to give a damn and my actually giving a damn and being there for him becomes irrelevant. What the ******** took the first drag of her cigarette, still standing there and allowing the silence to sink in.

'Kill him. He's a vampire, an assassin, he's not capable of loving a lycan. He's killed and hated them all his life.'

Another long drag.

That was when the vast ocean of memories she had with Veroen rushed to the forefront of her mind. He'd protected her whether she'd been human or lycan, he'd cared for her despite that. Even when she'd had another dude's kid he'd been willing to remain with her and stay at her side. But now it seemed he was considering changing his mind ... As her soon to be friend Tina Turner would tell her, "What's love but a second-hand emotion?" Guess he'd had his fun with her and was wanting to move onto bigger, better things. She wasn't good enough, whatevs.

Eden tapped her cigarette with her index finger, dropping the ashes on the ground and took yet another drag. Her eyes now a mixture of hazel and amber as they coldly surveyed Veroen.

"So I don't get a hello, a sorry, an anything except silence after all of this? You'd prefer to go back to the coven that deceived you all this time, that you sold most of your soul because of as opposed to come let me know you're alive? Guess I'm just a disgusting, revolting mutt that you're ashamed of. That's cool, I guess. So what now, then, if you're going to be buttered up by her lies and I'm an embarrassment to you? You going to hunt me now? That's what she's going to expect you to do, you know."

Of course this was her hurt speaking along with her cynicism, she didn't want him to leave and didn't want to push him away but she didn't know how else to react. He'd gone to the woman who had tried to kill her as well as himself before he'd come to her, the woman he supposedly loved. And now he was torn between the two of them? Really? What did some vampire b***h have over the woman he loved? It made her want to scream at the top of her lungs, punch a hole through the building behind her and rip her hair out of her head right in front of the two of them. Did she even want to hear his ******** answer?

Eden had already finished her cigarette and once she'd finished her spiteful bit she dropped the cigarette on the ground and crushed it with front portion of her right foot. The action was excruciatingly calm and controlled as she slowly pivoted her foot back and forth while waiting for his response. She didn't even know why she was waiting for him to give her the big old ******** you in front of Rogue yet here she was hoping she'd somehow luck out and be enough for him. Pffft, wishful thinking. Where had it ever gotten her?

Veroen closed his eyes and turned away at Meredith's words. What could he say? Veroen was a Void infested Vampire with little left of his old, soft self. Though there was still a soft side, it was buried under the abyss growing inside him. And as for Rogue, Veroen knew Rogue would stick to her agreement, and not touch Meredith. At least, he hoped she would. He also knew how bad this could end.

He was silent for a moment. "I had good reason for not contacting you, or anyone else for that matter."

A dark chuckle echoed through his mind, followed by dark, amused whispers from the Void. Veroen could feel it egging him on. He ignored it.

"You're jumping to conclusions Meredith...."

He turned and gazed upon her, the darkness in his eyes slightly less apparent, and the crimson more visible. He glanced at Rogue, before looking back to Meredith. It would be very apparent that he looked quite a bit darker in appearance, more Vampiric. During his absence he had lost himself even more to the Void, almost to the point of losing his sanity, though he sometimes wondered if he was even considered sane.

Regardless, he knew not what to say.

Gabriel was ever vigilant, ever silent, ever a watchful shadow night after night after night unless she went somewhere only an elder could go. Then he waited. Waited until she would reappear and ponder where she had went and thank God above that she had made it back alive but on most nights she just went about her business in the city. Most nights she attended to the hunting of lycanthropys and other such filth and the first few times Gabriel had to restrain himself but now he knew she could easily handle herself. She was not chosen without careful consideration to be an elder of this rather extensive city. Now Gabriel watched from inside a room the lights gone out and his own knowledge of the occult darkening the room. Behind him somewhere was a dead woman cold as ice and dry as bone so to speak. His cheeks were slightly rosy with blood and his eyes emitted a dull crimson glow giving things in his sight a slight red tinge allowing the deepest of shadows to be permeable to him.

Although he watched he did not listen, he did not care. This was however his first instance of witnessing this void since he had come to the city and it was intriguing. Perhaps something he should look into in the future, something that could be harnessed and used to his advantage. Father had warned him about it, citing something about old, forgotten...something. He did not believe it was anything that he should really worry about however he would be on his guard. Small movement caught his eyes in the alley as rats searched through the trash for an easy meal, extending his dominate will to them their minds were his and quickly he could see through them. Immediately they stopped was they were doing and spread out going in various directions and vantage points all looking around, surveillance. Withdrawing he kept them there watching for him, extra eyes so that his could stay focused on her and...it.

As the spit hit the ground, Rogue chuckled slightly. She could not help it...giggling at the false accusations and terror twisting within Meredith at something that never happened.

Should she say anything? She enjoyed seeing the dog writhe in her own misguided conclusions. The vein pumping blood caught her eye. A mere moment and this dog could be dead. Split the artery. Split the artery. Split the artery.

She refocused her eyes to Veroen. The void was pushing her. Rogue hated the void and for her hatred, the void cherished her even more- because she openly fought against its culling.
She took a long drag, then spoke after Veroen seemed to not know what to say.

"Like I was saying, Veroen. I will honor our agreement."
She turned to Meredith, her eyes glowing in the darkness of the alleyway.

She did not want to disclose anything much about the void to Meredith, but Meredith needed to understand something. "The void can affect us all." Rogue was referring to vampires and continued. "If we forget who we once were, we are easily lost to the black. I refer not to our animalistic nature, either, Meredith. I'm referring to our broken humanity." Her eyes were focused hard on Meredith, trying to make her understand what she was saying. Her tone was not cold, but almost urgent.
"You may believe there is nothing left, but there is. Otherwise you would not care for this man before you. All that has taken place tonight is making him remember. And I don't mean life with the coven. I mean his very humanity that hangs on by a thread."

It was like that for most of them...though many vampires had not even begun to taste the void. They had not lived long enough to feel its oppression. They only knew their animalistic side.
"And I expect nothing from him." But I owe my people.

She turned to Veroen and locked onto his eyes and took a step closer to him, close to his face.
The void is only a part of you. Don't let it control you. If there is no hope for you, then there is no hope for me.
These last words she spoke into his mind, a whisper, a warning, and a plea.

Meredith would not see Rogue's fear at losing herself to the void.

She looked again to Meredith and then walked forward and continued past her, turning and walking down the street to the left. For a brief instant, she felt the void flicker within her, a whisper of things she could not hear, and it caused her to look around as if she were being watched. She then continued on.

Cleary the woman was growing impatient with the silence seeing as she was now clenching and unclenching her fists, the leather between her fingers rubbing together and creating an elastic sound as they did so. Eden's eyes remained upon Veroen, sharp in their accusation and even sharper in their faith that he didn't give a damn anymore and that he was lost to her. "So are you going to tell me what the hell's going on or are you just going to keep your secrets to yourself and keep me wondering? I'm trying not to be rude here and probe you to see what's going on but you're making it exceedingly difficult at the moment."

"You tell me I'm jumping to conclusions and yet you aren't even certain where your loyalties lie as far as a vampire who's tried to kill you and me? Explain to me then because I'm failing to see what the hell is going on here. As fun as it is being left in the dark, it starts to tug at your doubts and fears and when something related to those comes back you just prepare yourself for the worst. I had to personally kill the last person I loved because he became so unstable that he couldn't even control himself or his sanity ..."

The hunter leader showed a moment of vulnerability as she allowed herself to dwell in her thoughts of Tokeru and before him Reno ... Both had tried to kill her, one had been killed right before her eyes by her brother and one she'd had to kill herself personally. She was doing some growing and had continued to do so while Veroen was gone but that didn't mean that her feelings for him had changed. However, who the hell knew what he was thinking anymore or whether he had plans to ever talk to her again. For all she knew this was an awkward, unwanted appearance on her part and he just wished she had never shown up.

Never had Meredith resigned herself to believing that Veroen was entirely gone, her heart would not allow her to dwell in those kind of thoughts. She wanted nothing more than to help him be his former self and be with her and live his life the way he deserved. Giving up was not something she did, however, at the same time her defensive mechanism to assume the worst was happening, had happened, had kicked in. This prevented her from becoming hurt because she was prepared for the blow or so she thought.

Eden, however, did listen to Rogue's words as they weren't spoken with disdain or condescention as she typically spoke with when regarding the hunter leader. The vampire elder's words were weighed heavily by the huntress and the human side of her certainly won over as she began making her way toward him. The wolven side was hesitant and tried to mangle the confidence in which she walked toward a could-be enemy but Meredith ignored the wolf's instinct which told her Veroen was dangerous. She knew full well he was dangerous but had he ever harmed her? Never had he intentionally and that was enough for her. Even after he had harmed her when she'd been a human he'd taken care of her and had been extremely upset with himself.

The hunter leader closed the distance between her and the vampire within a few graceful strides and the lycan huntress wrapped her arms around him, embracing him from behind. She affectionately nuzzed his cheek with her nose and her own cheek, brushing his midnight hair aside. She sighed and closed her eyes, taking in his scent, the one thing about him she'd always been able to cling onto when she'd missed him. "You aren't a monster. You're Veroen and the man I fell in love with and still love. The darkness can't have you, tell it to go ******** itself and that you're mine." With that she squeezed him a little tighter and tenderly planted a kiss along his jawline.

She then released him and stepped back, allowing him to process what she'd said. Eden still wasn't certain what he was going to do or what he was going to choose. She wasn't going to make him choose between her and Rogue but she had been hoping that when he'd come back (yes she'd been allowing herself to wishfully think) he would come to haven and stay with her there. Of course, she knew he was duty oriented and felt a strong connection to his vampiric brethren but some part of her had hoped that perhaps they would somehow be normal and that they would be able to be together. Perhaps that was wading a little too far into the abstract.

Veroen looked at her with a blank stare as she spoke. She wouldn't understand. Not only was he cursed as a vampire, but he was also cursed with an irreversible infection of the Void. This infection would only grow, until he was nothing more than a monster, with no emotion, or sympathy for life. He could constantly feel its cold embrace around him, pulsating with great and terrible power...

His feelings, emotions, and thoughts we all almost numb to any outside influence. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up as she walked toward him. Was it his will to make Meredith question him, and worry about him? No. But it was almost out of his hands...

As she wrapped her arms around him, a sensational shiver went down the Void masters spine, and he was reminded of how he felt towards her. He felt slightly alive again.

He hesitated, but gently placed his arms around her as she placed a soft kiss on his jawline. Another sensational shiver shot down hos spine. He could feel the Void protesting within himself, but he ignored it. His eyes returned to their original crimson color, and he let out a somewhat relieved sigh.

"I wish it were that simple.."
he replied in his smooth, deep voice. He of course was referring to her statement of wanting him to tell the Void to go ******** itself.

He looked at her as she stepped back. The void vibrated inside of him, and whispered through his mind, expressing its wish for Veroen to slice her in half and eat her heart. However, Veroen was completely used to whispers such as these. And he had learned how to tune them out. He had a gentle look on his sculpted face, and he thought for a moment.

There was no telling when he would lose all control over himself to the void. It was not matter of whether or not it would happen, but a matter of when it would happen. And Veroen could feel it getting stronger every passing day, slowly but surely. Would he reveal this information to Meredith, the woman of his dreams? Of course not.

"I missed you."
Is all he said with a slight smile playing at the corner of his mouth. He was being honest when he said it. He had thought about her a lot during his absence. As for what would happen in the future concerning the Coven, he was unsure. He hadn't made any decisions on where his loyalty lied, nor was he sure of whether or not he wanted to.

((Sorry Absanthe. Gettin bored. sweatdrop ))

Veroen looked at her for a moment. He needed to be alone, away from everything...there was too much conflict in his mind, and it was preventing the Void master from thinking straight. His eyes flashed from crimson to black a few times repeatedly, and he grimaced.

With a half smile, he spoke with an optimistic tone. "We'll talk another time. I'll find you when I'm ready to continue this conversation."

And with those words, a swirling cloud of black shadow engulfed his form from his feet towards the top of his head. The shadowy form dissipated, and there was nothing there.

As the shadow evaporated, a soft caring whisper rang through the air like an echo, "I love you."

(Part 2, continued from The Graveyard)

Lily set out on her trek from the graveyard and on to the city streets. Looking for a decent looking salon that she could really sink her teeth into (no pun intended =P). The only thing she had ever really learned worked well was re-invention. Nobody explained the basics to her, what being an abomination meant.

She was raised to look pretty and bare children for whatever aristocratic male was picked to suit her and benefit the people around her as much as they convinced her it was for herself. Luckily, she escaped the control of European society before being married off at 17 but she never knew any better way to handle herself among others. Everyone was dark and brooding, that she shared dripping sarcasm and quick wit with, but she never thought of herself as anything more than a pretty face. An object to put on a show or parade around for simple amusement. She wasn't formally educated, they didn't believe in it back then. She wasn't skilled so she naturally took to murder, theft, and squatting in the darkness to support herself. As of August 2010 she was just a year over 200 and hadn't accomplished much of a thing in her life.

She had beautiful collections she had hoarded and kept safe through her travels over the country but no real respect or fulfillment she could find. She wasn't satisfied and kept desperately trying to figure out why.

She was a pretty girl, she was overtly sexy and artificial, and worked overtime at trying to portray herself with mystery and cunning. It made women hate her and the men that went trying to slip a hand up her thigh. People assumed she was vapid, shallow, dim-witted, and generally just an airhead that tried to get her way with looks. She did to a degree and she understood that. Maybe her personal growth was stunted or she didn't mature properly...or at all for that matter.

She presented herself in a certain way, even if she didn't always realize it. A painted up trollop with a bad attitude was just how she ended up coming across to people. She was on the other side of the fence with this life, in a sea of dark beauties and modesty she wanted to stand out. Always wanting to be dressed to kill and was never lacking the time and patience to play undertaker to her well-preserved corpse.
Lily kept up her pace and roamed the streets, appearing as nothing more than a youth in a strange place. She spotted her target, a small beauty parlor on the edge of the city that was in a remotely unpopular area at this time of night, when the clubs were raging and people were out hooking up and getting wasted.

It seemed to still be relevant but it was late and she had noted the woman that was in the window a few moments before locking the door and flipping the sign to "closed". Not a problem. Lily rushed to the door and rapped a manicured hand on the glass to get the woman's attention. She looked up from her broom and dust pan with an annoyed look as she drug herself to the door. Lily mustered a panicked and anxious look while she flipped the latch and stuck her head out.

"Can I help you? We closed 5 minutes ago, we open at 9am" she barked quickly and waited for a response. A thin thing this woman was, older and wrinkled with razor sharp cheekbones and limbs for miles. She reminded Lily of Bambi's mom and she really would've loved to put one between the eyes with the serious adjustment this woman needed to make in her tone.

Lily kept her front and gaze with hers, taking a second to match her and lock their eyes on each others. The woman's eyelids grew heavy and her head tilted to the side as she stared at Lily in a daze.

Her expression hardened without warning as she pulled the door open with a quick movement and stood before the woman. Lily's slim arm pulled back in a flash and delivered a right hook that knocked her back and out cold. She wanted to tear her throat out but unnecessary killing was frowned upon so she thought she might try a rule or two out to see if she could adapt.

Lily pulled the door shut and locked the latch before scanning the street for any wandering witnesses. She pulled down the generic plate glass window shades and pulled the unconscious woman by the hair to the bathroom where she gagged and tied her to the toilet.

Peace and stillness drifted around her before making the decision to search for the sound system in this hole in the wall. At least she was able to rig her iPod to play, and "Cleveland Polka" ((if you want to look it up for reference it's by Mr. Gnome and the quickest place I found it was on myspace)) pumped through the speakers while she worked on mixing up enough bleach to coat her head. Her music wasn't blaring but it was loud enough to draw attention by passersby but she wasn't worried. If they disturbed her she would just break her little rule of the evening for a minute without hesitation. She mixed up the chemicals and began to part and paint in the mirror of the employee's station.

With her head and eyebrows coated she danced through the storefront, sparked up a cigarette, and waited to process. Trying to occupy her time, she sifted through the shopkeeper's purse to pocket the cash and cigarettes she found. She tore through rows of credit cards and studied her license before turning her attention to the makeup bag shoved in the bottom. No point in missing any opportunity to check for something she could use. After ending up with only eyeliner and a shadow or two she slipped the bag back under the counter and headed for a rinse and repeat, some tone work would be needed too...

She emerged with drenched platinum tousles to tame. A blow dry and some time with hot tools got her new mane into perfect waves that she pulled to side to let hang just below her bosom. She pulled the sheer stockings over her silken legs and poured herself into the silver lamé couture mini cocktail dress that she had stuffed in her bag. After a few choice pieces of jewelry, a pair of platform heels, and a textbook soft black smokey eye...she felt ready. Lily wanted to be uptown glam, not downtown smut...physically and socially. The platinum age was here, and she was ready to stake her claim in it...

Alexander walked through the crowded night time streets of New York, as he looked around at the skyscrapers that stood over him, "Home sweet Home" He muttered to himself as he continued to walk lost in the crowd. His hiatus from the busy city was a long one but unavoidable.

Gripping the necklace of his beloved, he thought how in vain his search for her killer has been. He believed that leaving the New york would bring new information and opportunities but that was not the case. He smiled to himself at how naive he was to leave the city for a whisper of information as he made a turn into an alley.

His pace of walking increased as he made a run at the stone wall at the end of the alley. He ran faster as he came closer and closer, to those who would look down the alley would see nothing but a blur. At the last second he made an incredible leap into the air, soaring as he came to a graceful stop at the ledge of the building. He off in all directions of the city, as the building glowed and the many people walked. Something about the city brought life back into him but he did not of what. Looking around the city, he noticed out of the corner of his eye, the graveyard. An old hangout of his where he would go to think and the memories that filled his head.

Although he wished to roam the tombstones once more, some force held him back for some strange reason. Instead he reached inside his coat pocket and pulled out, an almost iPhone looking device, pressing his pale finger onto the screen. The screen instantly lit up displaying the text,Tracking.. Rerouting to Location. After a very short minute, a blue Suzuki GSX appeared in the alleyway driven by itself. Leaping down, he swung his leg over the bike and revved the engines before zooming into the busy streest.

Lance wandered around the city, just feeling sort of bored. He yawned and stretched his back before leaning against a building.

Alexander zoomed through the crowded traffic, passing between lanes as he swirved through street after street. He had no idea where he was going but he felt a strong nostalgic memory as he ride.
He came to a halting stop as he stopped at a red light, revving up his engines as he looked at the car next to him. It was just an average joe who probably had a family and a couple kids. He felt a bit envious of him at the thought of how his life could simply have mirrored his. The middle class life that seemed so possible not so long ago and how he wished that he could have it.

Lily snatched her bag and iPod as she sauntered back to the bathroom and found the woman conscious and struggling to get free. Her eyes widened at the sight of the platinum vixen in doorway that must've had murderous intent.

Lily untied her and picked her up by the arm to bring her face to hers. A quick mind probe and her squishy membranes would cease to recall ever seeing her eerily perfect face. The woman stood dazed for just a second long enough for Lily to dash out of the salon in a flash with her few belongings and the woman's missing cash. Just a millisecond before bursting out the door, Lily noticed the woman's decent fur coat hanging on the rack by the door and snatched it. To the naked eye? It was there one second...and then gone the next.

She tore through the crisp night air until she thought she was far enough away and out of eyesight to slow down to a more human pace for her strut through the Big Apple's streets and a contemplation of her next move for pulling herself up from the gutter.

The satin lining of the chinchilla teased her ice cold skin as she slipped it up on to her shoulders. Dripping in jewels and cozy in her new coat, she pounded the pavement...her pale blonde waves bouncing with each step she took in her stilettos.

Cash, she needed cash...and fast. The digs she was squatting in weren't exactly status-worthy. Looting and thieving were easy alternatives but were no where near as lucrative as other endeavors. She had recalled her brief conversation with Rogue about this new "drug" that was hitting the street pretty hard. Lily kept her ears and eyes open after this enlightenment and picked up a few more details. It was being called 'crawl', she had never heard of such a thing but after she became aware she began to see the effects...the demand for this new and fascinating product was enticing, even to some of the most powerful of the races. It's healing properties seemed intriguing but it's overall effect was the thrill.

It was a high of sorts...heroin, crack, coke, meth...didn't seem to effect the already-dead or inhuman too much but this little blue powder did. Drugs were never much of her thing, alcohol and cigarettes did most of the work.

She knew that selling wouldn't be too difficult for her. Small time deals and petty cash was what Lily wanted to avoid. Big buys, big sells, big profit...this is what she wanted to come from this endeavor if she was going to stick her neck out and potentially make some enemies in this new line of work. She had heard a few stories about an industrial building in the city was that was rumored to have been moving a lot of "crawl" and fast. Maybe this was the first place she should look for a way into this new underworld of little blue powder.

Lily hailed a cab and instructed the driver to take her to the Blue Leaf Light building on the other side of town.

Nature Always Sides With The Hidden Flaw.

The city was it's dark usual self; the people within it weren't. Jasie immediately felt something odd going on and as she walked passed alleyways some exchanges where taking place within them. The void within Jasie edged her to go take a look; something tasty might be stored away within its shadows.
Yet sadly Jasie ignored the voice she so commonly referred to as Jean; her darker half. She pressed on and kept on track.

The walk to Demonic Ties was slower than normal; yet the on goings of the city around her kept her aware of how much had changed since she's left. It intrigued her interest and brought about unanswered questions that nagged on her mind.
Jasie didn't want to act upon her ravenous needs without gathering the information she so needed. Besides it wasn't like her to feed with so much distraction on her mind; wasn't much fun to toy with them if she wasn't into it.

Causally gazing at by standers acting funny almost as if on some sort of drug; Jasie smelled some sort of toxin running through there veins and found herself hankering for a taste. No..
Seeing DT in sight; Jasie hurried across the streets of New York and came to her favorite local bar.
Hmmm.. it's good to be home..
