"It was never self pity." Lily told him quietly, voice tight with several barely leashed emotions. Still... she hadn't broken down into sobs, hadn't fainted; it seemed she was going to be alright, though it would take time. "I was mourning the man who I was supposed to marry."

"Don't be such a self righteous b*****d." Lily advised, turning to him. "It's rather a turn off. I know what I feel; as you aren't me, you aren't nearly as well informed in that area. As for the boy... I love him. I could never resent him. He's a smart, wonderful child who I will protect with everything I have if trouble comes for him. You don't know everything, Guan. So please stop pretending to."

"Yes." Lily told him quietly. "And now I'd like for you to leave my room please. And you can tell Cerri that I don't need any of her hot chocolate or her mothering right now." she added, expression set. "I just want to finish my book, then go to bed."

Cerri met him about halfway, carrying a small tray that held four mugs. "Done already?" she asked him, blinking several times.

Cerri blinked again, then frowned. "Come on... let's go to your room." she suggested, carrying the tray with one hand now, then other taking one of his lightly. "You can tell me what happened there."

Cerri ducked inside, then set the tray down, grabbing his tea before making her way to his sleeping mat. She sat gracefully, then patted the space next to her. "Come here, love. Why exactly are you an a**?"

"Well... what did you expect from her, really?" Cerri murmured, handing over his tea. Then she shifted so she was behind him, rubbing his shoulders lightly. "She's young and she's hurting. Of course she's going to lash out. Wouldn't you?"
