Vela couldn't help but let a small smile trace across her mouth. It had worked. Snuggling contently into the blanket on their floor-of-a-bed, Vela started to slide into a very comfortable sleep.

Cerri turned and blinked, head tipping to one side. "Guan, hon... I was just going to make some hot cocoa." she told him, sounding puzzled. "I understand that Lily needs you more. I... I already grieved for him... I couldn't truly bring myself to believe that child was him."

Guan smiled slightly and shook his head. "I just worry about you, Love," he said, wrapping his arms around her. "Do you know where Lily is?"

Cerri nodded, hugging him tightly in return, head on his shoulder. "Yeah. She's up in her room. That's where she stays most days, you know."

"I'm not really sure of that." Cerri answered honestly, picking her head up to kiss him gently. "You'd have to check. Now, I'm going to go make that cocoa now. Do you want a cup? I'm going to give you some time with Lily, then come up and join you."

"Just some tea if it's no trouble," Guan said, returning the kiss. "Though Lily might want one and the boy will if he's up there." He gave Cerri another squeeze before heading upstairs and walking down to Lily's room and knocking on the door.

Lily looked up from her book, sitting at her desk. "Come in." she called quietly, carefully marking her page and taking a sip of water, turning to face the door as she waited for whoever it was to enter.

Guan took a breath and then stepped into the room, closing the door behind him. "Hello Lily," he said, pulling up a chair and sitting down near her. "Could we talk?"

Lily blinked, then nodded and offered him a small smile. She looked, frankly, better than she had in some time; there was even a tiny measure of happiness in her eyes. "Of course, Master Guan. What was it that you wanted to talk about?"

Guan frowned slightly, seeing how this was going to affect her adversely. "I'll get right to the point. The boy is not Arlen," Guan said as gently as he could manage, watching Lily carefully.

Lily seemed to go completely still at that, her breath not stirring, eyes staring unblinking and unseeing at him. She remained that way for several long moments, and then she turned from him, ears falling, and wrapped her arms around herself. "H-how... do you know?" she asked in a shaky voice, entire body trembling.

"The week he came, I sent message to Grand Master Mao, the Azure Glare. she used her abilities to look into the matter and I got the reply today," he said softly, carefully reaching out to put a hand on Lily's arm.

Lily shrugged his arm off, then stood without facing him, going to the window. "So... he's really... gone?" she whispered. "Or are you going to give me more false hope now?"
