Shooting cows at people.
Man, that just reminds me of an idea I had a few years ago to make a tournament in which each entrant makes a character after signing up according to the templates provided; and then they get ability points to spend each round after winning... basically meaning that the further you get in the tournament the more powerful your character is, so that the people who get to the finals would be the ones who know how to roleplay retardedly powerful characters.

I'm not going to backread as to what specifically you're all talking about.
I'll just sit back and wish I was a part of it.

We started talking about Paladins, and it sort of evolved from there.
Two cents it, then you will be a part.

Two cents: Paladins would blow if D&D wasn't about paladins.
Even if it has distanced itself from that with each edition.
In unrelated news. I'm watching that Avatar cartoon. I like it.

But. I hate those people. People who "know" how to roleplay retardedly powerful characters are people who care about playing retardedly powerful characters. People like that have, almost universally, a terrible mindset about roleplaying, fighting, and just about everything. I'd know. I play a retardedly powerful character.

Why not make it a reality in the future?
Say its 2nd edition which got all the E books to, I will gladly use my guild for it xD
Mostly so like HOH elimination round, have the excuse to send out enemies like a Dracolich, Group of Mind flairs , or maybe a pair of Fomorian Giants twisted
edit: T-T I mentioned it first Fiend xp

The Vansin themightyjello so that the people who get to the finals would be the ones who know how to roleplay retardedly powerful characters. But. I hate those people. Allow me to rephrase that. The people that get to play retardedly powerful characters are the ones that have proven themselves in the gritty melee of previous rounds.

You speak my language after all, Jello.
The VS is hosting a tournament pretty soon after this one ends. Low power, one ability per entrant.
I'm not even a fan of rewarding people when they prove they can get through the grit.

It shouldn't be hard to break something down like that into a 'level up as you go'.
Round 1: Your human character can choose two pieces of equipment from the list.
Round 2: As previous round, but you may have a class and adjust your stats within a certain range.
Round 3: As previous round, but you can choose from a list of special abilities or magic items and adjust your stats within a wider range.
Round 4: So on and so forth. Special abilities or stat enhancements or better equipment.
