*Nothing much really happened. The dig slowly scaled down, less people in and out each day, a few episodes of shouting on site as archaeologists resisted the cut in their funds and budget.....

Finally, one day, a white haired figure was seen going into the cordoned off area. A few minutes of heated discussions later, and the male would leave and climb into a limo to drive away. After THAT... the last of the dig team would soon move off site.

The finances were gone*

Well...that's Will's observation point.

Iden's asleep during the daylight hours.

So yeah.

Iden's asleep. And stuff.

Watching as the last of the dig site was vacated, Will would sit a while longer and watch; making sure no one was hiding or lagging behind the others. 20 minutes after the final closing of the dig site, Will left and headed back for the room he and Iden where renting. Once inside the relative safety of their room, Will went over to the bed and shook Iden awake.

"Hey, get up; the dig site just finished closing down, some white haired suit chased them all off finally."

Problem: It was daylight. Iden slept not like a mortal, but like a corpse. Waking him up would take more than a little shaking. A gunshot wound perhaps, or at the least a solid slap across the face.

Though, what Will expected Iden to do in broad daylight was yet to be seen.

"Goddammit Iden, come on and wake up!"

Quickly growing tired of his brothers reluctance to come back to life, Will grabbed the man by the ankles and literally threw Iden out of bed and across the floor; letting the body tumble and twist as it may.

"Iden you had better wake your a** up before I make you get up."

If this warning was not heeded then Will would make good on his threat by dislocating each and every finger on Iden's left hand until the man did awake.

THUD

Iden landed in an unceremonious heap on the floor. Where normally he'd combat roll and start with the ninja-esque s**t, right now he was out like a light until the point of impact.

His head skipped off the ground, and he tumbled into the wall. The ending position saw his legs bent over his head, which rested on the floor along with his shoulders and upper back.

And of course, a handgun was drawn and aimed for Will. Muscle reaction, mostly.

"Bout time you woke your lazy a** up; good news, the dig site just cleared out for good. Some white haired suit showed up and cleared them all out a little less than an hour ago."

Dropping down onto the bed, Will kicked off his boots and resumed his starring match with Iden's pistol.

"You can put that away now you know? Won't really do much more than piss me off if you use it anyway."

All groggy yet casual like, Iden eased the handgun back into its holster under his arm. With a slow, methodical manner to his every move he pulled out a cell phone, flicked it open, and inspected the device.

White haired...just who I expected. He's bad news...do not, under any circumstance leave the apartment wi'out me. Guy's got bad s**t going for him, we're gonna need more 'n just a fledgling, no 'fense.

And thus Iden thumbed over speed dial, once again calling for home. Just like last time, he wanted to speak with Jan.

Looks like the dig's cleared out, question is, was it our doing or somebody else's? Second, we've got an issue.

*Jan was somewhat suprised at the early call from Iden, however the old butler calmly informed him that through the use of several intermediary companies, some ties with a variety of scientific institutes and a close liason with a few museums across the globe.... and a couple of lawyers for good measure... the dig was being cancelled on a variety of legal, moral and cultural grounds.

That said, they technically still had two weeks to wrap up what they were doing, so the fact they were pulling out already was a little suprising.
It was while clarifying with Iden what the issue was that something then DID happen.

Ambulance sirens. A LOT of them. A crowd started gathering around the cordoned off shrine, and it was to here that about 10 ambulances screamed up, paramedics in hazard suits leaping out with large kits of medical supplies to go in.

Something had happened. And it wasnt good.*

Iden had just begun to elaborate on the white haired fiend when the sirens began. Cursing and spitting, he stepped back behind the closet door and gestured for Will to check the window. Sure, he was fully aware that it would flood the room with sunlight when the duct tape around the frame was pulled away, but by then he would be hiding in the bathroom, well clear of the burning ouch that was waiting outside.

Jan? Something's going down. We might need an emergency extraction, considering who's involved. I'll keep my phone handy, if you don't hear from us within two hours after local sunset, consider the situation completely ******** and react accordingly. And do me a favor? Appraise the matriarch of the situation for me. I'll not ask for her direct involvement, but she should know what's going on.

Moving to the window, Will would wait until Iden was well within the bathroom before pulling the blinds open slightly and seeing what was going on outside. His gaze would follow the trail of sirens and ambulances down the street and over to the shrine; though not able to see the exact circumstances of what was happening, it was easy to assume what exactly was going on. All hell had broken loose in the time between now and when Will was last watching the site.

Closing and securing the blinds again, Will gave Iden the all clear to come out of the bathroom.

"All hell has broken loose at the dig site, paramedics, cops, and people everywhere; whatever is going on down there JUST happened as well. There was not even the slightest sign of trouble when I left the dig."

*Cora. Of course that’s who it was. The recurring face of the newer threats to the clan and all it stood for.

Cora was having a pretty good day. The dig at Kuni’s shrine had been more a whimsical investigation than anything serious, and thus when the shut down order came, Cora and HBL were no more surprised at it happening, than they were suspicious of who was involved.
Thus, it was for two reasons Cora personally handled the bail out from the dig site. In the first case… no one who knew anyting of what they had discovered could be left alive. In the second… DeSeer’s might be there and a chance to potentially catch them in the chaos he would create was a bonus.

HBL. Like the arrogant son of a b***h he was, Hellbane hadn’t hidden his interest in the Shrine, and left his initials all over the ordeal. HBL. Hellbane Laster. So sad that the scientific team coming up from the depths of the Shrine had apparently triggered some ancient safety device and come down very sick… It had happened so fast, a mere hour after the order to move out. Clearly a booby trap inside, right?
Cora almost laughed to himself as his limo pulled into his current lodgings and he watched the drama unfolding on the news. It was an older Bane virus strain he had unleashed on those below ground, knowing it would kill them within a day. And mark any undead who entered the zone. Chances were, it would spread around the hospital they were taken to as well, unless the quarantine was top of the line. Unlikely in this part of Japan.

Calmly packing his things, Cora double checked flights back to base, and organised to be on one within an hour or so. His work here was done, and vital information gained. Hellbane would be pleased.

____________________________________________________

It took an hour before Iden and Will got a return call. 2 hours yet to sunset. Chaos was all over the place below, more ambulances coming to pick up citizens sickening AROUND the Shrine, from where they had early gathered to gape at the dig team being taken away by the first set of paramedics.
The marks seen on those suffering, the tribal, viral dark blots under their skin confirmed the nature of the illness. Bane virus. Iden at least would recognise it.

Then, Iden’s phone would go. It wasn’t Jan. It was Roan.

“Iden, listen carefully. You have 10 minutes. I’ve made a few calls, and you’re about to get arrested.”

She paused to let that sink in, but not long enough to let complaints start.

“An elite team of cops is going to burst into the apartment, cuff the pair of you, seize your bags and drag you out to their cars. Minimal resistance only – they’re friends. Hit any of them, and I’ll have both of you in the dungeon before you can blink. They will throw a blanket over your head Iden, so just make sure the rest of you is covered so you don’t burn.
They will take you to a private airport and onto a jet I chartered to bring you home. The jet has blacked out windows, you’ll be fine. When you get back, a helicopter will pick you up and bring you directly to the house.
Under NO circumstances are you to go near the Shrine. Corbin isn’t here and I cant cure you if you catch anything Cora will have left behind. Come home, we’ll talk more then.”

Not surprising, Will. I've got a story to tell you while we wait. You ain't going anywhere alone, kiddo, so grab some couch and keep your eyes out for the mayhem.

Iden himself had no idea what was going on. So instead, he had Will periodically checking the window. To safeguard his own hide, Iden adorned himself with his usual attire; the heavy leather coat was good at stopping the sun's rays. With most of the furniture between him and the window, the few bits that did shine through would leave red splotches across his features where his skin started to sizzle, but no overt damage was being done.

The white haired man is a pretty top ranked enemy outside the boundaries of kindred politics. Y'know, just the sort we tend to deal with. Roan has more specifics...but he's bad news, and he's got a hefty repertoire of techniques and tactics that'll make you look piss weak and pathetic in comparison. And he's a minion of something infinitely worse. Once again, Roan has the details.

THe hour was spent more or less mumbling updates back and forth to each other. With Will at the window, Iden gained some sense of the affliction going around. That in and of itself guaranteed that neither of them were walking outside.

It's a disease that nobody so far has cured except Corbin, and he ain't around to help us. It's excruciatingly painful, and since you aren't human, you get to live a looooooong time with the agony.

Finally, the phone rang. Iden flicked it open while Will checked the sights again, and his expression was one of clear surprise. He listened with rapt attention, then mumbled a quick affirmation before slapping the phone shut.

Alright Will, get ready for a party. We're getting arrested. Don't resist, they're allies, just play human and let 'em cuff you. We're getting an express ticket out of the danger zone and back to the house. You got ten minutes to make sure your s**t is packed and ready to go.

"There is always something isn't there; whether it be the big bad evil man out to get us, some ravenous monster trying to eat our souls, or some kind of super-disease."

Keeping an eye on the dig site, Will would keep the blinds as closed as possible to prevent Iden from roasting too much; his own immunity to the sun a much needed boon in this situation. When Iden's phone finally went off Will's attention was immediately drawn to his brother sitting in the chair, waiting patiently for word from the mansion. Upon hearing their evacuation plan though, Will immediately went to work packing up everything he had brought and making sure that he was in no way armed that the police would find and confiscate.

"Well this should be fun, I assume we're not to hurt these people in any way correct? ******** great."

Yeah, it's always something.

Iden wasn't quite pleased with the means of extraction, but then again, that was more for the notion of traveling by day than any beef with being arrested. He was already packed, having not brought much to begin with. It was a perk of living in a suitcase for so long; he was almost permanently packed when he went anywhere.

Which left Iden sitting in the chair, counting down the minutes and listening for the footsteps to mark his ride out of asia.
