(don't know if anyone cares, but the Emperium Blade finally has a proper name. Guess if you can figure it out) LOCATION: small tech lab outside MMHQ Riku sat back in his chair as he watched the various screens play out. Kavinsky's empire was slowly toppling. Several of his bases had been eliminated, using the stolen implosion bombs (they had decided antimatter bombs were not an option), and their mining facilities had all been taken over. His stocks had plummeted, and his army was being blown to smithereens with the F-22s and B-2s the Americans had provided. However, it was still going slower than it should have. In Brian's absence, Riku had had to bring in a whole tech division, which was now based in a facility on MMHQ grounds. They had been hard at work finding loopholes in Kavinsky's security systems, steadily tearing down his empire from within. But it was too slow. At their current rate, Kavinsky Enterprises would be finished in a year. It needed to be done in three months. Damn it, Brian, where the HELL have you gone to?" Riku thought to himself, as he kept monitoring. "Sir!" one of the techies called out. "It's done." "Good," Riku said. He had had the techies working on the Emperium crystal he brought back, making a device that could track it's unique energy signatures. It was finally done. A monitor popped up, showing a satellite view of the Earth. It zoomed in on a location in Asia. It continued magnification until it showed a village in Nepal. "Switch over to energy view," Riku said. "Yes, sir. Switching now." The view changed to an orange tint, and Riku leaned forward as he saw what he was looking for. A large green haze took up the center of the screen. A monitor on the side cross-referenced the readings with the energy signature the crystal gave off. A perfect match. "That's where we'll find Balmung. I'll be heading out in a few days. Good work everyone." As he rose, a female technician walked over to him, and handed him a small device. "Here, sir. It's a portable version of the tracking device. You'll be able to monitor the energy readings as you get closer." "Very good. Thank you, uh.." he paused to read her nametag, "Montoya." She nodded, and walked away. Now Riku had his location. All he needed was a squad. If he knew where the Blade was, Kavinsky most certainly did, too. He had to get there before they did. But he would need help. Someone he knew he could trust. After briefly listening in on the comm chatter, Riku headed towards the infirmary. There was one man in MM he knew he could trust, and he knew where to find him.

((I'm sosososossososoosoo Sorry. I'm not gonna give you the shpell, but if you want it I'll tell you. Sorry I'm so lazy. I'll try to be more active. Please forgive me.)) The teenager's body grew numb as his mind slipped deeper and deeper into unconscienceness. Even with the body out, the mind still worked. 'Dragons are like humans. Capable of intellegence, and possibly a thought process, dragons wouldn't simple attack something for just to attack. What sort of weapons would deter a dragon's movement? Sight, Scent, Taste, Cold? I need more information.' Just then, a powerful, dry, blast of air raced over the boy. And with it, the artifical sleep. Yue's eyes snapped open. His face grimmer then usual and a look of irratation on laid upon that. The roots of the tree behind him had begun to wrap around his legs, squeezing them. "Stupid tree." Reaching a hand out, he traced over the top of the roots. Running his finger down the root, holding his legs, a fissure split following his finger. Pure and undulilated water spilled forth from the tree. The root began to disintergrate since the water that held it together was being removed. Kicking the hardened bark, he released himself from the grip of the tree. Getting up, his eyes met with the sudden rays of sunlight. Flinching, the light was bright and irritable to his dark adjust eyes. Running a hand over his forehead, the teen was trying to reawaken himself. "That breeze wasn't normal." Yue accepted that there was a dragon attack on town. 'Ace and Rusty should be able to handle it.' Taking in a deep breath, his senses were beginning to return to their norm. "Dragons are immune to poison, their skin is tough like diamonds, and almost all fire resistance." Walking away from town, his mind set on trying to find a vantage point. A hand fell to his water mocasin, something wasn't quite right. "If the dragons were going to destroy something then they wouldn't do it solitarily. Somethings up with these dragons, I'm going back to town." Spinning around, Yue made his way into the towering tree tops. His speed was quicker since he had taken a slight nap, so it would only be a few seconds more before he reached the wall. There were sounds a frenzy inside. 'I don't have time for this.' The stone wall would be too difficult to climb and it sounded like no one was willing to open the gate. "Water degeneration." Leaning against the wall, he felt his knees give way as everything blurred. Travelling like a snake, the teen's new aqautic form effortlessly crawled underneath the gate. Compacting into an orb, the ball rose and began to grow. His body beginning to re-form. Stumbling a second, everything blurred before returing to focus. 'Wow, that was harder then I expected.' Leaning against the innards of the wall, Yue was left to catch his breath. "Where's the dragon?" He muttered. The distance echo of roars and bellowing flames ripped through the air distrubing all of citizens of the town. Looking into the sky, a pair of crimson scaled creatures flapped their wings as they flew towards a large clocktower. 'Ace is smart enough to use the height as an advantage.' Running there, his steely blue eyes scaning the horizon for any signs of change. "They've gotta be there."

 ((All is forgiven of course.))
The entire clock tower was alive with the sound of turning gears. Sokato took a second to admire the feet of engineering as it must of been hard to construct with this realms current limitations of technology.
With that done, he rushed up the stairs. He managed to jump over Rusty, who had already started up the stairs. Within the minute, he had already made it to the end of the staircase.
He stood on top of a platform right behind the middle of the clock face. A ladder led to the top where you could get on top of the building. The ladder however, looked old and rickety. It would probably not support Ace's weight.
There was a small trap door in the clock face however which you could open and look through like a window. Maybe even go through to scale the side of the building.
There where very few options.
Ace opened the hatch and peered outside. He looked around, scanning the skies. This time he saw only one dragon. This one was flying slightly to the right of the tower. The other one was out of sight.
"Where is the other one..." His question would be answered shortly. A deafening roar could be heard from behind the clock tower. The second dragon crashed through the tower sending derbies, and gears everywhere.
Now, as a person sized cog tumbles through the air towards Sokato he realizes that going up the tower might not have been a good idea. The gear hit him directly and sent him flying out of the tower. The dragon flew straight threw the tower, tucking its wings in as it went and extending them once he exited on the other end. It made giant holes in the tower. Everything was falling apart on the inside.
Ace quickly sprang off the cog as it tumbled down and grabbed onto the dragons leg.

(Sorry. Would another opportunity help make it up?)
MMHQ Dispatch center
This was puzzling. This kid was treating him like an employer, yet Joel couldn't recall ever having him in his squad, even before squads had been abolished. He had offered to set up Korie with a mission only because he knew the people in charge. "First, I'm not your captain, so you don't need to apologize to me. Second, if you're eager to make up for lost time, the mission box is this way."
A flight of stairs and a door marked "MMHQ Dispatch" later, Joel, Korie, and Larry were in a room with several desks around it. Two were simple workstations with multiple monitors and box computers set up underneath, though the make of the computers would be unrecognizable on Earth. The third looked like someone had added a few computers, pried them open to reveal the innards, and tried to connect everything together with a mile of wire. The only station in use was one of the simple stations. A tiny woman with bright blue hair sat in a swivel chair. She was almost four feet tall, and she looked like she weighed less than anyone else's arm. Gray tiger stripes painted on her face made her blend with the computer equipment. "Hi Groundwalker. Did Riku find you? He went to the infirmary looking for you," she said.
"We must have passed each other in the hall. I'll catch up with him later. Right now, these two need a mission."
The woman handed him a stack of blue papers. "Here you go. Don't take anything too dangerous." Then she went back to her computer screen. If anyone looked over her shoulder, they would have seen that in addition to several news sites and bulletin boards, she was also on AIM, and the person she was talking to was writing poetry.
Instead of looking, Joel flipped through the papers. "Cat mission, assassination, cleaning the house of the trap master..." He pulled a sheet from the stack. "Here we go. A small town inventor wants a rare book on geology. You need to locate a copy of the book, and deliver it to his house in a small village near Mt. Everest." Joel looked up from the page at Larry and Korie. "Larry, take Korie with you on this one. She's new to this. Korie, you need a code name. How about," he noticed the tools on Korie's waist, "how about Wrench? Or Locke?"

After about ten minutes, Riku entered MMHQ's main building. He walked down the hall to the infirmary, but Joel wasn't there. One of the medics informed him that he had gone with two others to the Dispatch center, and Riku headed down there.
He got to the door, but realizing he might be busy, didn't go in. Instead, he leaned against the wall outside the room, and waited. He had time, and he didn't want to interrupt whatever was going on inside the room.

[[i will be out to sea for a week or so.]]
Shadow wondered where everyone was. He didn't quite know where to go. A lot of mercs were returning, and there were a few new members. things seemed to be about to get confusing.
It seems there might be another big mission about to start. I think this base might need a briefing room. It might make all of this confusion easier to deal with. There are so many new faces wandering around, lost and or confused. And the experienced mercs seem to be a little too busy to help all of the new members. It might be possible if there was a place for all new members to meet and wait. That way, they won't, unintentionally, get in the way of experienced members.

Korie listened intently to the mission, and smirk appeared on her lips. Tracking down a book? The Internet wasn't too hard to navigate, and if not, she knew her way around the black market...She really didn't care about her partner but her interest was piqued when her codename was mentioned. "Well, Wrench sounds a bit more plumber to me, so I'll take Locke." Besides, she was good at picking locks. Let's just say she had to do it quite often when her parents "grounded" her when she still lived with them.
"Thanks a lot, I'll dispatch right away." She saluted with a smile on her face, and, glancing at her partner, she walked out of the MMHQ Dispatch center and waited in the hallway for Larry. She looked at the man waiting outside for a moment and then preoccupied herself with fixing her goggles.

((OOC: No worries or anything, Joel, I was only joking. No need for apology. And I'm sorry if I offended you, Korie. You don't know it because my profile got lost, but my character is in his 30's. He could pass for being a little younger but you on the other hand are around 16, right sweatdrop ? Heh, awkward!))
"Heh." Larry chuckled "And I thought that helping a cat out of a tree was hard around here." Larry followed suit and saluted Joel, did an about-face and headed for the door. Larry's mind was still very much on his sisters, because he almost forgot to notice the little blue-haired woman sitting in the chair and shudder. This he did, of course, just as he was making his way into the hall.
Once the door closed behind him Larry faced Korie and his mind snapped back to reality. He motioned for her to follow him toward the portal room and started walking. Larry was not used to working above new recruits and it showed a little.
"All right. Now listen closely kid." Larry began, clearing his throat "Look, I'm... I have been working this kind of business a while. As simple as something sounds, depending on who gets involved in it, it can turn bad real fast out there."
They rounded a corner. Larry continued "Right now, I'm in a position where I am responsible for both you and the mission. I need to know that you got my back too." He stopped outside the portal room door.
Larry put his hand on the door and waited for Korie's response, adding "I just wanted to be sure that you knew this going in, is all." He told Korie "I mean it can only help to get it behind us, so what do you say?"

Dispatch center, MMHQ
Larry and Korie left the dispatch center. Only when the door clicked shut behind them did Joel turn to the diminutive dispatcher. "Kin." "Hmm?" Kin looked up from the screen. "I've held up my end of the deal. I've led one mission; the guy is in the infirmary under some sort of sleep spell. Now, I'd like the portal set up for the Nexus." "We can't find it, Joel." "You what?" "There are a couple of Nexuses in the computer, but they're the wrong ones." "It's a major point of transit, Kin. How does the best portal generator in all of known existence not have it in its files?" "I'm sorry, but it's just not there!" Joel let out a breath. "What about the rest of the Servers?" "There aren't that many computer generated worlds out there, Joel. The Servers aren't on the list." "Wayward?" He was clutching at straws, and they both knew it. Wayward had only had any sort of portal for a two week period before an accident destroyed the city housing the portal. Nobody would have heard of the world. Kin stood up and gave Joel a hug around the waist. Joel felt awkward receiving a hug from someone he had barely met, but Kin was the sort of person who could get away with that sort of thing. "Don't worry, Joel. I've got people looking. If the Servers are as big as you say they are, someone must have heard of them." Joel removed Kin from his personal space. Then he thought for a moment. "What the hell, then." Joel threw his arms in the air. "Hmm?" "Extend that contract into something more permanent. I want the standard pay and housing for a captain, and an office of some sort." "You're staying on?" "You guys need me just as much now as when I came in. Find me a desk, and have the new contract waiting there by the time I come back." "Yes, sir!" Kin sat down. gg, brb she typed, and started making calls. "I'd better find out what Requiem wants," Joel said. Before he finds something else that wants to kill him, he thought, remembering the last time he'd seen the man. He opened the door and almost ran into Riku waiting outside. "Hey, Requiem. I heard you were looking for me. What's up?"
-------------
Outside Ryanna Rindell's office, MMHQ
The words gg, brb flashed on a tiny screen. In response, four fingers danced over an equally small keypad. Balancing a text display device on his thumb was difficult, but having four fingers left over to type made it worth the effort. Leave if thou must, my lady, but my hours shall be dim until the hour in which your words shine again on me. 'Hour' was stretching it - even if Kin wasn't back on in a minute, she was just down the hall from him. Zach slipped the text display into a pocket on his overalls. Then he peered into the lock on Ryanna Rindell's office door. A narrow strip of metal in his hand edged its way into the lock. Zach worked the metal towards the back, using another tool to gently turn the lock. The pressure would cause the pins to lock when he pushed them into position. Using the first tool, he nudged the rearmost pin in the lock. Something in the lock flashed blue. Zach jerked back and fell on the floor. The lockpicks were charred black. "- you get?" Zach missed the first half of Jen's sentence because he hadn't been looking at her face. He fished out the text display again. Say that again? he typed. "How far did you get?" Jen asked with exaggerated enunciation, which ironically made her lips harder to read. Nowhere. Why couldn't Ryanna have left us a spare key before she left in case we needed to get in? Zach whined on the text display. "I think she was afraid someone would try to break in and mess up her files. Like we're doing," Jen added good-naturedly. "Let me look in there for a minute." With some difficulty, Jen settled her bulk by the door, pulled a tiny flashlight from among the tools on her belt, and peered into the keyhole. At last she said, "It looks like the commander placed a seal around the lock. I'll bet that there's another one around the rest of the office." Commander Ryanna Rindell's specialty was magical seals. It would be difficult to break them, and possibly painful. Though probably not fatal, since some of the people she might want to keep out were related to her. Jen's brown curls bobbed as she looked at Zach. "How about I keep poking at this, and you look around for someone who can help break magical barriers?" Since Zach had no desire to run into more of those seals, he nodded his agreement. Then he wandered off, typing a message he would give to anyone he might find in the library, the training grounds, or anywhere, really. Excuse me. My name is Zach Rhaine. I'm a mechanic in the employ of Mishap Mercenaries. The technical support staff would like some help opening a magically locked door...

heart You found my heart and rebuilt it from dust... heart Outai wondered aimlessly through the halls of the head quaters to Mishap Mercenaries. She had no clue whatsoever where or what everything was, save for the humongous library. She preferred it in the library, but knew that she had to find out where and what everything else was. Perhaps if she was lucky she'd find another person who could give her a tour, and tell her where to hand in her application. She knew she was well suited for the job, and needed something to do anyway. So, why not join up?

Riku looked up as Joel came out.
"I need your help. Again." He pulled out a picture of the satellite image over Nepal. "We've found the Emperium Blade. We'll need it to defeat Kavinsky and Thanatos. The only problem is, if we know it's there, Kavinsky probably knows it's there, too."
He sighed, then continued. "I'm gathering a team to go in, and I want you on it. This isn't going to be a walk in the park. If there's anyone you think should go, you should talk to them. The Tech Team is going to brief the team in an hour."
"So," he smiled, "you up to it?"

Martin, still completely bemused as to what to do, was now walking around the base at random. Ya think SOMEONE would be here, but noooo.... I haven't even seen Outai or shadow again....... oh, scratch that.. Martin thought as he walked through the corridors, cutting off as he spied Outai down at the far end. He sprinted down the hall after her, hoping she'd found something....
"H-hey, Outai..... *pant* been a wh-*pant*--while, hasn't it?" Martin said as he came to a stop beside her, bending over and resting his hands on his nees to recover his breath. " I'm the Martin guy, if you've forgotten.... Eh, sorry to pry, but... Have you found anything?" Martin asked her, straightening back up as he spoke.
She seemed nice enough last time... For the brief amount of time I saw her...
