You can't even have a backpack to carry your stuff to and from your locker before and after school and leave it there all day? That's what I do. But, as for carrying stuff during the day, I use those Adidas sports ones. I don't know what they're called exactly, but they're big enough to fit my folders, notebooks, ruler, compass, protractor, calculator, pencil case, and the book I'm reading (if it's not huge, which is why I'm trying to get my bigger books done now). So, I just have to carry my books. I have to carry two books at once a lot so I don't have to waste time going back to my locker after every class, so I'd rather have my folders and stuff on my back instead of carrying it. It makes it easier to carry two books. But, why were backpacks banned? People were sneaking in drugs or something?
I wouldn't mind taking choir again, but Fine Arts isn't required at my school. But we do have one of the best music departments in the city, as far as I know, anyway. But, wouldn't marching band count as a Fine Arts credit? Well, do Fashion classes count as Fine Arts? Those are just sewing and making clothes, I think you could do that. But, Interior Design sounds really interesting, to be perfectly honest. But, I need the space to take all my required classes and the classes I need to get into college, so I really don't have room for any art classes.
See, that's how the Lutheran school in my city works, their lockers are all in a certain place for certain classes. Mine goes alphabetically, or at least it did freshman year. Last year, it went by where your homeroom is, which they picked randomly. Our lockers are always by our homerooms, which we have every day now, so it's easy to change books and stuff after first hour (which is when homeroom is). We sort of have an area for each class, but it's more like certain classes are on certain floors. Like, foreign language, music, computers, gym, and the special ed classes are on the first floor, then math, science, history, and health are on the second floor, then english, a lot of study halls and homerooms, fashion, art, and foods are on the third floor, then we have a "tower", which is one room on the "4th floor" where they either have study halls or poetry classes. I hated having a locker on the third floor last year, because only my English class and homeroom were on that floor, so if I needed to get something from my locker, I needed to climb an extra set of stairs. Yeah, changing districts was hard for me, but after a few weeks, I got to know a lot of people. With a big, public school, you kind of know everyone, even if you don't talk to them. Like, you just know what classes people are in and stuff. But, I'm happy I made the transition. I used to go to a private school, and if I hated middle school that much because of that school, I can't imagine how much I'd hate high school in a private school as well.
To me, she always was a b***h. I still don't understand why she has a "friendly aura" when she's not friendly at all. Yay! Alyson Noel doesn't change Miles! I love him more than I should =).

LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH Yeah, tablets are pricey :/ But lots of people make art with just the mouse, or by scanning. Stuff like photoshop or corel works great for digital art.
Jedi your high school has a lot of halls *__* I recently realized that most high school are multiple stories! Ew, stairs.
MI = Mercer Island The building literally looks like M|. Except the M is more of a sideways E... Not too complicated. It wasn't a big school, 1400 students.
IT'S NOT THE YEARS IN YOUR LIFE THAT COUNTS. IT'S THE LIFE IN YOUR YEARS.

Well, we can have backpacks, but we can't carry them around with us during the day like most schools can. So we have to carry all our books during the day, which really isn't that big of a deal, since that's what we did in junior high. Thanks to 7 minute passing periods, I have time to go back to my locker between pretty much every class thankfully. I would hate if I had to carry multiple textbooks with me. I think they just took up too much room in the hallway, but who knows? I didn't ask for any details. I figured if they banned backpacks during the day, they had to have a pretty good reason, though my brother (who graduated the year before I started high school) never mentioned anything about people sneaking in drugs, and if something like that happens in my school, word will get around fast. One day there was a fight in the hallway before school (I got to see it) and by the end of first hour, literally everyone was talking about it. Word spreads fast in my school. Though I'm sure it does in every school.
Marching band isn't a class, it's just an extracurricular activity. I wish it counted as a fine arts class though. I'm hoping I like Interior Design. I don't know anyone who's taken it, so I can't really ask what it's like. And the sewing classes are our Home Ec. classes, and those sadly aren't counted as fine arts either. It sucks.
Our lockers go alphabetically in each section. So in our Sophomore hallway, I was at the very end of the section because my last name is at the very end of the alphabet. At my school, math, science, the library/computer lab, cafeteria, auditorium, cooking, sewing, band, choir, woods, autos, art, health, the gym, and all the offices (deans, student services, main office, athletic office, the nurse) are all downstairs, plus the sophomore, junior, and some freshman lockers (freshman don't really have their own section like the rest of us...they're just kind of put wherever). On the second floor is our foreign languages, history, and english classes along with the senior lockers. I'm glad that my school only has two floors. Makes it really easy to navigate.
I've never gone to a private school. We don't really have any around here. Plus my mom and dad both worked so they wouldn't be able to drive to and from school everyday if I went to a private school. I'm very thankful for that.
Turayza: We don't really have that many halls. We pretty much have two main hallways, the new wing (which was really just one hallway on each floor) that was added just last year, the dungeon, and a couple of cut across hallways. So I guess it's more like subjects have their own area of a hallway. It's sort of hard to describe the set up of my high school unless you've actually been in it.

turayza: Oh, I could do that. How do you make your avi into a picture, though? Just right-click and do "Save Picture As" or what?
Oh, yeah, stairs suck. But, in my school, when you go up the first flight of stairs, there are about 10 or 15 stairs, then there's a little landing kind of thing that goes around so you're facing the other way, then another flight of about 10 or 15 stairs, then you're on the second floor. Then it does that again to get to the third floor, so really, I have four flights of stairs to climb up instead of two between every floor. It sucks to have to climb up those when they give you your books, your locker is on the third floor, and you haven't done much all summer. I had to lean by big pile of books on the bubbler by the stairs when I got there because I was exhausted.
Oh, okay. I knew MI meant Mercer Island, but I didn't know what the point of saying that was. It doesn't seem like a very hard school to navigate. From my picture, you can see that mine basically looks like an E and a backwards E put together. Well, as of right now, we don't have more than 1400 students. Last year we had 1,212 students (after a little math). We just have to wait a see how many freshmen and new kids come this year. But my freshman year, we had 3,199 students (thanks to the Yearbook Committee who put the population in the yearbook).
Jedi: Oh, okay. I was just gonna say, geez. If you couldn't have backpacks to take stuff home with you, that'd be really cruel, especially to the AP kids. Well, I was told that we couldn't have purses or backpacks during school my freshman year as well, but everyone had them, so I just got a tote bag to carry some of my stuff in (because, at the time, I was reading Deathly Hallows, and I hated having to carry such a big book around with me, so I just put it in my bag) and no one ever stopped me. But, before that, I had a binder that had all my folders and notebooks in it, along with my books, so it got to be a little much. I talked to a couple juniors and seniors, and they said as long as it's not on your back, they won't get you in trouble. But, this year, they're letting us have those sports ones, just not full backpacks because some of our classes are really small and to put them on the floor would mean blocking the aisles. I would love seven minute passing periods. We have four minutes in between classes. We used to have five, but then they changed the time we started from 7:35 to 7:47, and the time we left from 2:52 to 3:00. That's when we started having mandatory homerooms, so we only had one time schedule instead of, like, five. We also had no Early Release Wednesdays (my freshman year, we got out at 2:37 on Wednesdays because the teachers had a meeting after school) anymore. Maybe the reason they banned them was similar to the reason we're not supposed to have full backpacks. Because they crowd small classrooms and hallways. Oh, haha, yeah, word spreads fast in basically any high school. I once came into 3rd hour and everyone was like "We got caught behind a fight on the stairs, that's why we're late". And everyone was like "Oh, yeah, the whole school'll know about that by...eh, maybe first lunch (which was next hour)."
I think it should count as Fine Arts. I have a friend who's in Marching Band and it counts as a gym credit, so he doesn't have to take gym class, even though it's an extracurricular activity. I'm sure you'll like it. From what I know, it's not much drawing. But, what do I know? I've never taken Interior Design. I don't think we even have an Interior Design class at my school. Oh, I get it. We don't really have a "Home Ec." department. We have "Family Consumer Sciences", which is all fashion, sewing, and cooking. It's basically the same thing, so I don't know why my school gave it such a long, geeky-sounding name.
Yeah, we used to have ours alphabetically. But, now they're just kinda sticking us wherever they feel like sticking us. Oh, you just reminded me, we have woods, metalshop, photography, and graphics on the first floor too. Lol. Oh the joys of being a freshman. Thank God that's over with. I think my school would be nice if it had two floors. We have a lot of empty space where they could've put classrooms, but instead, put murals and art, just like we're back in 4th grade, hanging our artwork on the walls. The Conservation Club, Foreign Language Club, art classes, and the senior class seem to enjoy painting right on the walls, and the senior wall on the back end of the football field. But, that was how I remembered where things were my freshman year. My locker and my math class were right by this big blue and green mural, so I wouldn't get turned around. It kinda helped, but I still think they could've put the classes a little closer together in some hallways. Others, they could've spread them apart a little. If they did both, it would probably amount to the same size, so I guess I shouldn't be complaining.
You're lucky, private schools suck. We don't have many around here either. The public schools in general were great socially, but the middle schools weren't so great academically (or so says my mother), and the reason to go to school is to get good academics, so she sent me to a private school. Plus, I grew up in a Christian family, so she wanted me to have a background in Christianity. But, the social environment was horrible. I was so happy when I moved. And, private schools do have buses, and you can walk. You don't have to get a ride every day. I got a ride in grades K - 4, then in grades 5 - 8 after we moved, I took the school bus for two years (and hated it, but that's another story). Then we moved again and I walked the last two years. There are modes of transportation besides getting a ride.

I'm so glad that my school only has two floors. I think I would die if it had more, and we have longer passing periods than you. Yeah, our stairs are the exact same way. 10-15 stairs, landing, then 4 stairs and you're on the second floor. The only bad place to have a locker in my school is the dungeon, and usually we stick freshman there smile The dungeon is where we have all the woods, auto, and art classes, and it's about as far from every single class as you can get. Thankfully, when I was a freshman, they didn't put us in the dungeon-I was in the history hallway which was really close to pretty much all my classes.
Holy cow, you have a small school. My school has about 2500 students. Last year, our freshman class was absolutely huge. It was over 700 students, and each new class is supposed to keep getting bigger. Now they're talking about building a third high school in my district because there will be so many students.
You start school are a really weird and random time. We start at 7:30 and end at 2:30. What was Early Release Wednesdays? Like was it every Wednesday? I mean, our teachers have meetings every Wednesday, too, but they have the meetings after school gets out for the day. We can't even have tote bags. Or those sport bags. But people still carry them anyway. The rule isn't really enforced a whole lot.
Marching band as a PE credit?????? That would make my school year if my district did that. You have to take PE for at least a semester all of high school (minus freshman because they have to take health). If you play a sport, still gotta take PE. I know other people at other schools where, if you play a sport, then you don't have to take PE while you're in a sport. Which is pretty awesome in my opinion. Home Ec, Family Consumer Science, they're the same thing. That's what we called it in jr. high. In high school, all the classes are seperate. Like there's Sewing, Foods and Nutrition, and Fashion and Merchandising.
We have like, 1 mural in my whole high school, and it's kinda tiny in a hallway by the science classes that most people don't use except as a short cut. My freshman year wasn't horrible, but I was glad to get that year done and over with just because then I wouldn't be called a freshie anymore.
The private schools that are close to me don't have school buses except for sports. So you have to find your own way there. Which is why I never went to one. That, and the fact that they were more expensive than public school. So I just my background in Christianity at RE every week at my church til I got Confirmed.
Really random, but my friend and I went to the mall today. And as a super belated birthday present, she gave me $20 to spend on anything I wanted. So I bought this cardigan from Aeroostale, and when her mom picked her up, she wanted to see it, and my mom said it was under her desk. So you know those plastic mat thingies with the sharp things on the bottom that hurt if you touch it? Well, my mom has one of those underneath the chair to her desk, and I tripped on the edge, and the sharp things stabbed my foot and my big toe started bleeding! I was like, what the heck? It should stay on the floor, instead of tripping me. Yeah, that was pretty random.
And another random thing, I got new Pointe shoes for dance yesterday. Finally, I have a pair of Pointe shoes that fit me and aren't totally destroyed and useless.

Well, I would think since I don't have block that I would have shorter passing periods. I hated last year when they took that one precious minute away from us! And everyone who isn't in high school is like 'Oh, one lousy minute isn't going to make a difference', but it does. They'll understand that when they get into high school and only need 30 seconds to get down a hallway, but alas, their four minutes are up. So, when you say 'dungeon', do you mean basement? Or just a really dark, secluded place on the first floor? Oh, I hate when you have lockers out in No Man's Land. I never did, my locker has always been by at least one of my classes, but I know people who have lockers down by the science rooms, which is basically a lone hallway at the end of a bigger hallway, and they share lockers with their friends because they don't have enough time to get their stuff and get to class. But, that's nice that you got a good locker location as a freshman. I know even the staff is mean to freshman sometimes.
Uh, not really...I just said I had 3199 students last year. That's more than you have. But, the Lutheran school that my middle school wanted me to go to only has about 400 - 500 students. Whenever I talk to people that go there, they're just like 'Holy crap! Just your freshman class is bigger than my entire school!' That's when they had 400-something students in the whole school. And they two floors, I think. But, it's really small and cramped and I really wouldn't wanna go there. At all. But, my mom's senior class at a public school (she went to the Lutheran school I was talking about for two years, then a public school for the last two years) was just that big, they had 700 students also. It took them two nights to do graduation and every student only got one admission ticket for a family member. But, building a third high school might help you out. The only other high school we have is one of those juvenile delinquint high schools.
Yeah, all of the high schools that I know of start at really weird times. I have no idea where they got that idea from. 7:30 - 2:30 would be nice. But, the times are all exact now. Every class is 50 minutes, homeroom is 25, and lunch is 30. Before, we didn't have a mandatory homeroom, but when we did have one, we had a whole different bell schedule that day, and the homeroom was either 15 minutes or 30 minutes, depending on what we needed it for, our classes varied from 50 minutes to an hour, and lunch was still 30. So, it's kind of nice that we have exactly the same time period for each class. Early Release Wednesdays did happen every Wednesday, but only my freshman year. Last year, the time was changed, as I said, and because we have longer days now, we don't have Early Release anymore. Now, instead of having one bell schedule for the normal day, one for Early Release, one for a 15 minute homeroom after first hour, one for a 30 minute homeroom after first hour, and one for a 30 minute homeroom before first hour (which we only used the first day, to get our schedules and stuff), we just have one with a homeroom after first hour and no more Early Release. But, it was more of a time for people to work in the computer labs after school, do gym makeups, meet with teachers, go to the tutoring lab, etc. It wasn't just for the teachers to have their meetings. Oh, yeah, I kind of figured it wouldn't be enforced. Not a lot of our rules are enforced either. Like the one about not wearing tank tops and short shorts? Girls break that rule all the time, they don't get in trouble. But, the one time people did get in trouble was when we had Spirit Week before the big basketball game against the other school in our district, Monday we didn't have a spirit day. So, everyone decided it was Gender Bender day, and all the guys got in trouble for wearing skirts. But, fortunately, with the girls, you couldn't really tell because a lot of girls are tomboys and wear guy clothes on a regular basis. So, only the guys got in trouble =D.
Yeah, I think that would be nice. We have have to have 1.5 credits of PE, and they normally make it so you have one semester through junior year, but you can do it however you want, as long as you take it. You could do it all in one year if you want, but you just need the 1.5 credits. And for us, sophomores have to take health, along with gym. So, since health kind of goes in with PE, it's 2 credits of PE. Well, my school doesn't do that, but if you do Irving Swim (which is teaching the Special Ed kids how to swim) or Lifeguarding your sophomore year, along with regular gym, then it counts as a gym credit and you're done if you took gym freshman year. Oh, yeah, we don't separate the classes like that. They're just all in one.
Aw. I kind of like our murals and artwork, only if they weren't so big. It makes the school colorful and fun. And gives you directions =). Oh, I know. I remember when I was called down to the office, I didn't know how to get there from inside the school, so I went down by the field house (and I was right by the door to the office, but I didn't see it) and there was a girl there at a table, working on something, and I had to ask her where it is. I could tell she figured out I was a freshman. That's kind of embarrassing when you have to ask where things are when you're trying to keep a low profile until freshman year is over.
Oh, that sucks. Well, you could also walk. RE? For my private high school, the fact that they don't have many people, and they're all Christian, or raised in Christian families, there isn't that variety that you get at public schools. Socially, it would've been exactly the same as middle school, which I hated. And also, they don't have many choices for classes. No accelerated classes and I think the only AP classes you can take are seniors only, and that's really depriving someone like me who tests out of regular classes and wants to do big things with my life. And they also need four years of Theology, and it's not even the study of all religions, it's just Christianity. If it was the study of all religions, I wouldn't mind taking it. But just Christianity? Yuck, I've had enough of that since kindergarten.
You mean Aeropostle? I love that place =). Ooh, ouch! I hope it feels better soon.
So, what kind of dancing do you do, besides the colorguard? I'm pretty sure you use Pointe shoes in ballet, right?
This is a really long post...o.O.

Yeah, I know that if they got rid of 7 minute passing periods, everyone would be mad. I mean, I don't really use them to just stand around and socialize (sometimes I do), but they're nice because I'm not sprinting to get to all of my classes. The dungeon is just a creepy place on the first floor that no one goes to unless you have a class there, so there are never many people down there. I remember one day I had to go talk to the drama director (he taught an art class down there) and while I was walking down there and back, I might have passed three people at most, and it took a better part of the seven minutes to get there and back. The lockers there are empty since all the classes except freshmen have their own area, they sort of stuck the freshmen where everyone else's locker used to be. It's just at a tad creepy down there.
Oops, I must have read the numbers wrong. So my school's pretty tiny. And it's kind of sad that the freshmen make up at least 1/3 of my high school's population. Our classes are pretty much 90 minutes long straight across the board give or take a minute or two. Then our lunch and passing period is the same length too. We don't have homeroom at my school. We just get our schedules and stuff from our advisor, then every other Monday we have advisory with a group of other students in the same grade (the sort it alphabetically, so I know everyone in my advisory because their lockers are by mine). Advisory is kinda stupid because we normally just sit there and do nothing, though it's usually interesting because of some of the people in my advisory. The only good is that shortens classes by about 5 minutes.
Even though the actual rule for the length of shorts and skirts is that they have to reach your fingertips, that one really isn't enforced. The unspoken rule at my school is that you can wear it as long as it's longer that the cheerleader's skirts. Gender bender day? Sounds interesting. Our spirit week is pretty much standard spirit week-pj day, twin day, school spirit day, etc.
We don't really have room mural in the halls at my school because along pretty much all the walls in my school are lockers, which I don't mind. But some color in the hallways wouldn't be too bad.
RE=Religious Education. That sucks that your private schools don't really offer a lot of classes to choose from. I would hate if there were no honors or AP classes because, to me at least, those are all the fun classes.
Yeah, I meant Aeropostale. That was a typo I didn't even notice. And I love that place too. My toe feels fine now, but last night when I tripped, it hurt, and I didn't even notice it was bleeding til 10 minutes later. I mean, it hurt and everything, but I didn't think it would actually make my toe bleed so now I'm extra careful around my mom's desk. It seems that a lot of things seem to happening to that foot (it was my right foot). And it all started with when my friend pushed me and my slammed into the leg of dining room chair and jammed two toes-that one's an interesting story. Since then, that foot has been stepped on, had things dropped on it, sat on, among other things. And it's always my right foot. Never my left foot. I just find it weird.
Yes, Pointe shoes are used in ballet. Besides ballet and Pointe (I dance in both split sole flats and Pointes) I do tap and lyrical. And I help out with a tap class at my studio. Then I also do Colorguard. Which reminds me, I start Colorguard on Monday. I can't decide if I'm excited for it or if I'm dreading it because I get to learn some new moves, but then it also means I have to get up early, which is probably number one on the list of things I hate.
This is a fairly long post too...

Yeah, I'm sure people would hate not having that much time in between classes. I'm usually not sprinting either since people leave me alone most of the time, unless I run into someone that I have next hour with and we walk and talk together. It really doesn't take that long to get around my school, as long as you know where stuff is and you have a routine. I know by the second week, my routine is ingraved into my head so I don't even have to think to get to my classes, I just go. But, it takes maybe 30 seconds to get down one of our hallways, so when you think about it and do a little math, four minutes is actually a lot of time. Ooh, yeah, it does sound like a dungeon. Poor little freshies. Oh well, at least they only have to deal with that for one year. But, at least you're not alone down there. That'd be creepy.
Lol it's okay. That is kind of sad. The freshmen are supposed to be the underdogs, how can they do that if they have power in numbers? xP. Advisory sounds a lot like your version of homeroom. Except ours are mixed, so there are no freshman homerooms, sophomore homerooms, etc. There used to be, but I guess the school board didn't like that, so they mixed them. But, yeah, we normally don't do anything either. Whenever we get those announcements that no one cares about, we make paper airplanes and try to stick them into the little slots on the air conditioning vents. Well, I don't, since I normally have homework (last year I had math first hour, so I almost always had homework). But, shorter classes are good! Ours used to shorten our classes too, but now that we have it every day, it just molds in with our schedule.
Yeah, that's the same rule for ours. But, the thing is, our poms girls have skirts that they wouldn't be allowed to wear if they weren't in poms and the rules were actually applied. So, I don't really think it's fair. But I shouldn't be complaining, I don't wear skirts or short shorts. Or shorts in general, really. Yeah, they had all the guys dressing up like girls, it was hilarious. But, yeah, most of ours are pretty boring. Pajama Day, Sport Team Day, Hat Day, School Colors Day. They recycle the same ideas over and over, it's making Spirit Week really boring. And we also have to pay $1 to wear a hat on any of those days, and if you don't have the sticker they give you when you pay for it, you can get in trouble, which I think is totally bogus.
Well, ours works like this: one side is all tall lockers and office doors (teacher's lounge, etc.), then the other side is all classrooms and short lockers (they're not those square ones, but they come up to my forehead while with the tall ones, I have to reach to get to the top shelf). And in between the classrooms and lockers, there is a lot of empty space, especially by the math and science rooms. But, by the history and English rooms, they're pretty crammed together, so for those, they just squeeze in billboards and tack up papers for upcoming events. But, yeah, a little color isn't so bad.
Oh, okay, I understand. Yeah, I think I like AP and accelerated classes because the students actually appreciate the class and appreciate the teacher and are actually there to learn, whereas in regular classes, you get all the loud, obnoxious, dead-end people who drive you absolutely nuts. And AP classes are where you meet the fun teachers.
Well, that's good that it feels better. Wow that's a little weird. But sometimes I don't notice my cuts and bruises either. I didn't notice when my toenail became ingrown. I also didn't notice one time when I had an open blister (that I didn't know was open) on the back of my heel from my shoe, and I kept crossing my feet at the ankles and I felt this wet, sticky stuff. Then I looked down and I noticed that blood was running down my ankle and I was on my other ankle too. But, yeah, I would be careful too. Yeah, I know what you mean. Things happen a lot worse on my right foot than my left. They still happen on my left, but not as bad. My ingrown toenail was on my right foot.
Split sole flats? Lyrical? Is that just dancing with music that has lyrics? But, that's cool. I've always wanted to dance, but my mom wouldn't let me because a) she didn't wanna pay for something that I'll come home and complain about (since I'm not very athletic) and b) she and my grandma worked full time, and my grandpa volunteered part time, so I wouldn't have had a ride. Well, have fun! New things are always exciting, but waking up early during the summer isn't. But have fun anyway!
I've just decided that I wanna go back to school. Summer has bored me.

We had four minute passing periods in junior high, and I thought those were long, and then I got to high school and we had seven minute passing periods, and it was really nice. I mean, if I run into someone in the hallway or one of my friends is at her locker and I have time then I stop and talk. But yeah, I felt sorry for the my friends this past school year because they decided to stick most of the sophomores in the dungeon (I got lucky and was someplace else that was equally far from all my classes) because the sophomore locker area wasn't ready til second semester. But now I don't think anyone should be in the dungeon locker wise. Which is nice when you're walking down that hallway because it's not crowded at all.
Advisory is sorta like homeroom except we only have it twice a month usually.
They removed a lot of lockers last summer when they were doing constuction so now the only hallways that have lockers are the science and english hallways. And the lockers that we have are the half size ones that are stacked on top of each other (I had a bottom one my freshman year and I usually hit my head on the locker above me about once a week at least...lol). We also have the kinda in between size ones too. Like they're not super short but they're not freakishly tall. On me, they come up to about my chest on me. So they're pretty nice because you have more room to put stuff, and you don't have to worry about someone above or below me. I know it was pretty annoying to have to move for the person below me whenever he wanted to get into his locker (I had a top locker for the first part of sophomore year).
Oh I know. I hate being in the regular classes becuase then you get stuck with all the people who don't want to learn so they talk and text and are completely rude for the entire class so I can't learn a thing. That's why I didn't want to transfer out of honors math but I knew it was the best thing for me to do so I guess I'll just have to put up with all the lovely under acheivers.
Ewww...that's kinda weird and gross. I remember when I was at homecoming, my friend and I were dancing, and somehow, I'm not really sure how it happened, but the heel of her shoe scraped against my ankle, and so I felt it to make sure it wasn't bleeding, and it didn't feel like it was bleeding so I just kept on doing whatever. Then a bit later I felt something wet on the bottom of my foot and I looked down, and she had gashed my ankle open with her heel. So we spent almost 20 minutes in the bathroom trying to get it to stop bleeding while someone went and found a band aid. That's about the most exciting thing that's ever happened to me at homecoming.
Split sole flats are just regular ballet shoes, but they have two seperate soles on the bottom of the shoe to make it easier to move your foot and dance. Lyrical is sort of a combination between ballet and modern dancing. It's really fun. I just recently got into it because my dance studio just started offering it. Yeah, I couldn't really do a lot of sports when I was little because I had a problem with my arms so I got into dance and I stuck with it. And I'm glad I did because it's fun and it's exercise.
Yeah I kind of want to go back to school too. Summer has gone by really quickly, but now, I don't know. School just sounds really appealing. Maybe it's because I'm one of those nerds who actually enjoys school and learning. Ah well, there's only about three weeks left of summer til school.

Yeah, we have no time to talk. But, in middle school, we didn't really have passing periods (at my school, we only switched in the morning for history, math, and science, then in the afternoon for gym, computers, and art, but the afternoons were different every day. All the other classes we had with our 'homeroom' teacher). When our teacher handed out our schedules, it was like, whenever one class ended, that was the time the other one started. So, if one ended at 9:45, that's when the next one started. It was really weird...Oh, they shouldn't be that mean to the sophomores. At least they know their place, unlike freshmen. But, it was nice that you didn't get one down there. Ooh, not crowded is always good. Yeah, it's not very crowded for us by the Special Ed classrooms (on the first floor by the cafeteria). The only people you have to deal with are the lunch ladies (the kitchen was right across from the cafeteria), some Special Ed kids, and the Special Ed teachers. But, they're normally not in the halls, so it's kinda nice that I don't have to push through people to get to my class.
Oh, okay, I thought so. I'd love to only have homeroom twice a month. That's about as much as we actually use it for anything else other than a 25 minute study hall/social period.
Oh, yeah, I had those half size lockers in middle school. What was bad was the guy I liked was below me, and I will admit I hit him on the head a couple times. But, after 3rd quarter, we switched, so I was on the bottom. I hated both of them...I like having the tall lockers, even though last year the ones right next to me on either side where occupied and I had to deal with them a lot in between classes. That got kind of cramped. But, at least I can stand by it without having to worry about stepping on someone or hitting their head with the door. Well, the middle sized ones were very cramped for me since freshman year, I had a tall one. I'm kind of hoping I have a tall one this year, I like those better. They're better to fit my winter jacket and all my books and backpack in.
Yeah, exactly. Like, my first semester of freshman year, I was stuck in the regular English 9 class (for reasons even the teacher didn't know), and I just wanted to pull my freaking hair out by the time I was done with it. Thank God I had lunch right after it so I didn't have to go to another class all steamed. But, it was so loud and obnoxious that the teacher lost her voice because she was yelling at everyone so much. And that's also where I met this kid named Zach who asked me to homecoming the first day when he already had a date and didn't even like me, called me a 'foxy surfer babe' (again when he didn't mean it), and then ended up calling me a b***h, whore, slut, c**t, and a bunch of other things that got him moved, finally. Agh, I really hate regular English classes. My Accelerated English 9 teacher told my parents that all the regular English classes are like that, and if you actually care about learning and are a good student, you shouldn't be in that class. Aw, I'm sorry you're stuck in an average class. Why did you have to transfer out?
Yeah, it was...haha. Oh wow. You seem to have really bad luck with your feet and ankles. But, then again, so do I. Was that your right ankle too? Well, I've never been to homecoming because if I went with a group of friends, they'd all have dates, so I'd be like a third wheel. Or, well, actually like a 13th wheel or something like that.
Oh, okay. Just dancing in general sounds like fun. I think my mom also thinks that, because I didn't crawl when I was a baby, I won't have the coordination to dance. But I don't trip over nothing, so I don't get why she thinks I don't have coordination. What was the problem with your arms?
Yeah, the first few weeks are always exciting because they're new. I just got my potential schedule on the school's website and now I'm all excited. But, I have empty slots, so it will change. And I also found out I have a class with someone I absolutely loathe, and who loathes me, but pretends to like me in public. But, anyway, after the first month, school starts to get old and you really want summer to come. We just can't be satisfied, can we?
So, my mom and step-dad just ordered the new Kindles from Amazon (my step-dad had the first two, but sold one and is trying to sell the other one unless I want it, but I don't like ebooks since you have to pay with a credit card instead of just buying them with money), and my mom's taking her bookshelf down when they get here, which is supposed to be at the end of August. So, she said that if I want any of her books, I should take them and get them organized into my bookshelf, and any ones I don't want, she'll sell to a used bookstore. So, me being the nerd that I am, I just spent four hours getting all the books out of my mom's bookshelf and wherever else she has books, looking through them, deciding which ones I want, and putting the ones I want (which was a majority of them) in my bookshelf in the right place (since mine shelf is alphabetized). And I noticed that I would have too many books to fit on one bookshelf. I have another one, but it has stuff in it right now, and I don't know where I'd put that stuff. So, I also found a bunch of books that I don't wanna read or already read a million times, like my Mary-Kate and Ashley and Two of a Kind books, and those ones that say 'What'll happen in Harry Potter 7?' (I already know what happened, I don't really need those), among others. Now I just need to find a box to put them in and hopefully this weekend, I'll be able to squeeze some money out of the Half-Price Books people.

I would hate not switching classes like you did in junior high. To me, that would be boring because I like having a different teacher for every class and having different people in every class.
I'm glad that we don't have to use the half-size lockers anymore. They were annoying because they were small (thankfully I usually only had 3 or 4 textbooks in my locker) and hard to fit stuff in especially during winter and you had your big bulky coat. I don't really like the super tall ones either just because they're so tall. I like the ones we have because they're flat on top so we can put our books on top while we open our locker or whatever.
I can't even imagine being in a regular english class or any regular class for that matter. The reason I dropped honors math and now doing regular is because I didn't do so well in my last honors class. I mean, since it's weighted, and I got a C+ it counts as a B+ for my GPA but I really struggled during the whole class (math hasn't exactly been strong point) and with everything else I do outside of school and with all the other classes I'm taking, I figured it'd be a lot less stressful to be in regular math. I can't even count how many times I had mental breakdowns during second semester because of math. And I figure it's better to get an A in regular math than get a C in honors. I just hope I know someone in my class because I have very few friends in regular math.
No, actually that was my left ankle. I don't think I'm going to homecoming this year either. In the past, only a couple of friends had dates so the ones who didn't have dates didn't really feel like a third wheel because there was still plenty of us that didn't have dates. But this year a lot more have boyfriends or girlfriends, so my friend and I would be the only two without dates so I think I'll probably just spend the night at her house with another friend of ours and have an Avatar: The Last Airbender marathon considering I own the whole season. I'm quite looking forward to that.
I have this problem with my elbows where if I put too much weight on my arms (whether it be a push, a pull, or picking something up), my elbows pop out of their sockets. It hasn't happened since I was little, but we still don't want to take the chance. When I was little, it happened a lot more frequently so it prevented me from playing a lot of sports. I mean, I can't even play school volleyball in case I would dive wrong. So I got into tennis and dance because they were two things I could do without worrying about my arms and I sort of stuck with them throughout the years. I can play most sports at school, but I just don't bother. Though I do play most sports just for fun with my friends.
I know. The first month of school is nice, but then after that, it gets old and I just want winter break to come because that means only two weeks til we change all our classes. Then I like those classes for about a month then I want summer to come. And then summer's here and after the first few weeks, I get bored and want school to start. Nope, we never can be satisfied.
I don't really like ebooks either. I mean, I like them because it's a lot easier to carry an ebook around rather than a whole stack of books when traveling. But I don't really like reading it. I like to actually read a book and turn the page and and everything. Wow...that sounded kinda...I don't really know. What sorts of books did add to your collection?
I love reading those Harry Potter books like that. I borrowed one from my friend that was an analysis of the first four books. It analyzed every chapter in sections, and they talked about the significance of things and how it could be important in the final three books. It also analyzed the names of places, people, and things from the series. It was really cool when they talked about the meaning of names because usally the name somehow applied to the personality of the character. I liked reading it because I had already read all seven so I was like, that theory is right, or that theory is wrong, or that theory is sort of close to what actually happens throughout the whole book.
I'm rereading all the Harry Potter books (I usually read them once a year over the summer) and I started them last Sunday and have challenged myself to read all 7 plus Beedle the Bard in 8 days (one day for each book). Right now, I'm also done with the seventh one. So in order to achieve my goal I have stayed up really late all week. I haven't gone to bed before 1:30 since last Saturday. The latest I stayed up was 3:00 and then I had to be up 8:00 that morning. It's crazy I know, but I really wanted to try and do this.

AGH! I had a whole message typed out, then my session timed out and Gaia didn't post it and I didn't save it, so I have to do it all over again! I really hate technology sometimes.
Well, we did switch and have different teachers for some periods, just not all of them. We had four different teachers instead of seven. But, as for students, we only have about twenty in my class, so we did see the same people for every class, except math when we were divided for 7th Math and Pre-Algebra for 7th grade and Pre-Algebra and Algebra for 8th grade. But, yes, it was boring. I remember in 7th grade, we had history and math, then came back to our homeroom for Science and the rest of our classes, except Computers. We'd go in there and the teacher would have worksheets on the back table and pages on the board and would just give us until lunch (which was supposed to be Science Class, English Class, and our study period) to work on it, then work on whatever else we wanted. We didn't have an English assignment for almost two months. My day dragged just a bit, but the bright side? I got a lot of my reading done =).
Yeah, I only had my books for my morning switches in my locker in middle school, so along with my backpack and coat in the winter, it fit pretty well. But it got really cramped when we were trying to get our stuff at the end of the day since we had no empty lockers. Aw, we only have a little ledge on the top of our lockers that MAY be able to hold a book or two. But, since I have my bag with my folders and notebooks in it, I'm only carrying one, maybe two, books. So I don't really need to put anything down to switch books. But, I liked the tall ones because I didn't have to cram my stuff in them. And I like reaching up for things rather than bending down to get them.
Oh, I totally know what you mean. My sophomore math class was weighted as well and it was my first weighted math class, so I obviously didn't do very well. My teacher said I'll have to work really hard in order to make it in my math class this year, which is also weighted, but I honestly think I didn't do well last year because it was first hour and I had a really bad teacher. But, you should be able to give yourself a break every now and then. As far as knowing people, it's only one period, so other than group activities if they do any, you won't really NEED to know anyone. You can get help from the teacher if you need to. But, I'm sure you'll know at least someone. And if not, you may make some friends. That's always good. Actually, it's better to get a C in an honors class than an A in a regular class. Just the fact that you got into the honors class is enough for colleges. Anyone can get into a regular class, but honors and AP students are especially intelligent.
Yeah. At my school, it's cheaper to buy a couples ticket than a single ticket, so most people come as couples so they save a little money. But, most of my friends already had partners, so if I really wanted to go, I'd have to pay a lot more to get in just to feel left out because I'm the only one there without a date or partner of some kind. But, I know a lot of people at my school have Anti-Prom/Homecoming parties where they just stay in the house and have movie marathons and stuff. But, that should be nice, have fun!
Ooh, ouch. That sounds painful. So, I'm guessing when you decide to move out of your parents' house, you'll need some extra help with big, heavy boxes? Well, I played volleyball and I didn't spend a lot of time on my elbows. Knees, yes, but not elbows. But, I didn't do a whole lot of diving, so I can't really say anything. So, I'm guessing the swinging of your arms when you play tennis doesn't do your elbows any damage?
Yep, it's just a never-ending cycle of unsatisfactory schooling. But, at least in a few weeks we'll be happy for a little while.
Yes, the turning of the page and holding an actual book is very nice. I know people on the Forums on here that say "I like to curl up under the covers with my book at night. I can't really curl up under the covers with an eReader." But, yeah, it's a time, money, and paper saver, but it's just not the same. I hate when people say books waste paper. It's not like you read a book then throw it out. Wasting paper is when the material on the paper doesn't serve a purpose and is thrown out instead of recycled. At least books serve a purpose, and when you're done with them, you can sell them or give them away. Yeah, I added a lot of Nora Roberts, Stephan King, and Agatha Christie. My mom had some James Patterson ones, but she gave those to me already. Then I have some oddball books like Girl with a Pearl Earring, Stranger in a Strange Land, and The Beach, which was made into a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, among others.
Yeah, it can be kind of fun when you know how things are going to turn out and you see what other people thought would happen. I managed to save one entitled "The Magic of Harry Potter" that explains the morals of HP. That book you explained sounds very interesting. I could always buy them back if I want, or I can just look them up online.
Hm, wow. Well, I'm sure at the rate you're going, you'll achieve your goal. But, it didn't take me long at all to read Beedle the Bard, so I'm sure you can do it. Maybe I could try to do that, but reading all day never worked for me since I get headaches, fall asleep, and then wake up at 3:00pm and realize I've just wasted half my day. Plus I have chores and things my mom wants me to do during the day that reading isn't an excuse for not doing. I like midnight reading though. But, yeah, that is a little crazy, but I can honestly say you're dedicated =).

Yeah, don't you love technology. A lot of times, I'll get signed into my e-mail and gaia and all that stuff and then my computer will freeze and say that the program is not responding so then I have to exit and normally try at least three more times til I can successfully get back into the internet.
I would love to have classes like that. I could get all my homework done and everything and not have to worry doing anything when I get home and then I could catch up on my reading.
Well, actually, it's better to get an A in regular than a C in honors, because and A in regular is worth 4.0 and a C is only worth 3.0. Plus, colleges would rather see you do well in a regular class, than be in honors but not so great. Plus, with all my other classes and activities, I would be up until midnight or later if I did honors math, so in the long run, it's probably better that I dropped honors math. Besides that fact that my mom would have made me anyway so I just decided to go ahead and do it.
At my school, it's one price straight across the board for homecoming tickets. Prom tickets are $10 cheaper if you buy a couple's ticket. But still, it gets expensive for homecoming even if tickets are $25 cuz then you still have to buy your dress and usually we go out for dinner beforehand. And if you've gone to one, that's all you need to go to. Because they're all still a dance, right? I mean, they never do anything different except different decorations depending on the theme, but that's about it.
Yeah, I suppose. Well, the thing with volleyball was that if I did dive, and I landed wrong on my arms, well, that wouldn't be good. No, tennis doesn't really do any damage to elbows. Nor does colorguard because a lot stuff for both of them is all in the wrists, especially colorguard.
I love curling up with a book late at night. There's nothing like it. And then you lose track of time, and then it's like "Oh, maybe I should go to bed now. I suppose I could read just one more chapter." And then one more chapter turns into the rest of the book-at least for me. I totally agree. I mean, if you read multiple times, or if you read it then give it away to someone else who will read it, then it's not really a waste.
Well, I completed all of the Harry Potter books within the time frame that I wanted. I was happy. And now I'm taking a break from reading because that's all I did last week was read. And now I just want to take a break from reading, except I have to read The Great Gatsby for school, but I'm almost halfway done with it, so it shouldn't be a problem. And it's alright-ish. It's most definitely not one of my favorite books, but it's also not absolutely horrible like other books I've had to read for school. "The Magic of Harry Potter" sounds really cool. I would love to read it. Guess I'll have to go find it at a bookstore somewhere.
I started marching band on Monday, and it's going pretty well. We've got our shirts, hoodies, gloves and shoes. Now all we need is the uniform that we wear for games and we're set. We've started learning the flag routine for one song and the dance routine for the other song, and we're almost done with the dance routine, but I'm not sure about the flag one. It's still pretty sloppy, but it's only our third day. I also had tennis tryouts today, tomorrow, and Friday and so far they've gone pretty well, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

I know, I hate when that happens. I've had to restart my computer so many times I'm surprised the button didn't just break.
Yeah, but it got a little boring...and not having English class probably did a number on my knowledge, which is why I only got into regular English freshman year first semester. But, yes, it was nice that we got all that study/reading time...but there would be times when he would yell at us for not doing schoolwork. It's like, you've given us so much study time, we've finished everything! What else do you expect us to do?
It may be worth more, but it's also easier work. I think, to be able to get into an honors class at all with work that should be too hard for your age group, and at least have an average, which is a C, that's pretty dang good. And, according to my AP World teacher, who is working on his Masters right now, any honors and AP classes you take will catch the eye of colleges, no matter how horrible you do in them. Just that you had the criteria to get into the class in the first place is enough for colleges. But, the fact that you'll be less stressed is a good thing.
I think it's only our prom tickets that are different prices, but homecoming I'm not sure since I've never been to either of them. But yeah, dresses and hair appointments and all that stuff does get expensive, even without adding the price of the tickets. But, yeah, I do understand how once could be enough. But, my friends love it so much that they go every year with their boyfriends or other friends. They go to Sweethearts/Winter Formal too. And now that we're juniors, we can go to prom this year and next year, so there's another dance I'm not going to. I'm just not a big dance person, I guess.
Yeah, I understand how that could be a problem, but to be perfectly honest, you don't dive much in games unless the other team is clever enough to always tip the ball over the net instead of spike it or freeball it. Or they're weak enough to JUST get it over the net. But, you could always wear elbow pads too, not just knee pads. I think the coach would understand, you have special circumstances. That is, if you really wanted to play that bad, which is doesn't sound like you do. Well, I just thought, with tennis, that if you swing it too hard backwards or something, it could put strain on your elbows. I can imagine where colorguard and dancing would be the only things that you could do.
Well, I honestly don't 'curl up in bed' because I have to be sitting up at a table or on my bed with my book in front of me or laying back against propped up pillows with my head resting on either the pillows or the wall and my knees bent so my book rests on my legs. If I lay down while reading, I either get a headache from my glasses not staying straight or I feel tired and fall asleep. But, I still love reading at night with just my desk lamp on. During the day, it just seems too bright...and it seems like I should be out doing other things instead of cooped up in the house, reading a book. Yeah, exactly! I will be the first to admit that I normally don't reread a lot of books because I have books that I haven't even touched yet that I feel I should read before I start rereading anything, but there are a lot of ones that I want to read again. I actually am reading HP again. I was on Chapter 12 of SS and I just finished it a couple nights ago and I just started CoS yesterday. But I didn't get very far because I was ran around town with my aunt trying to find uniforms for my cousin, who's starting 6th grade at a private school and I was exhausted by the time I actually got to my room, which was around 8pm.
Yay! Nice job =). Yeah, I felt that way the summer before 6th grade. I read a book every day (of course they were really small books, like the Charmed series or The Babysitter's Club series) and by the time I got to school I was like, "Ehh, I don't really wanna read anymore". Hm, well, I'll keep that in mind, just in case I'll have to read it for school sometime in the future. And I checked again, it's actually called "The Wisdom of Harry Potter". Sorry, I didn't check before I wrote that. I haven't read it yet, actually, but I found it at a used bookstore. So, I'm sure it's somewhere. If not, Amazon or eBay would have it.
Ooh, sounds like it's going pretty well. Well, you'll get it eventually, I'm sure you're a pretty talented group. But, I'm guessing you have the steps down, you just have to perfect it. Good luck with tennis! I hope you make the cut =).

Wow, our prefect is back! How are you doing, turayza ?
Has anyone here read The Maze Runner? I started to read it at the bookstore and it was interesting, and I found out that it comes out in paperback (ie CHEAPER) on the same day Mockingjay is released.
