((OOC: I don't suppose I could ask the leader of this RP a question? A couple, actually. First, am I free to pick my own missions from the list because we are between leadership systems? If so, I would be sure to stay within the rookie missions. Second, was my name in the list of operatives on the first page changed to include my nickname "Freebird" next to "Larry"? Last time I checked, it still had "????" next to it.))

heart You found my heart and rebuilt it from dust... heart Outai watched silently as she watched Shadow move rapidly, attacking and blocking in a fight against what appeared to be nothing more than air. However, she had seen this before in the years she taught at the ninja academy, so she knew there was indeed something there. This was confirmed by the shadow clone that had appeared, making both of them pause for a moment, and then go back to fighting. Indeed, she did recognize some of the moves from the arts she took, and others looked similar, but with some differences, to the ones she knew. Some were new all together. Either way she stood and watched. Some people sat to meditate - which was more her style since she had bigger things to meditate on - and some chose to meditate in controlled combat. Apparently Shadow was the latter. "That's all well and good," she said quietly, mostly to herself, but partly to Shadow, "but I wonder how many opponents you can take on at one time?" heart ...and now let me return the favor for you. heart

He responded to her telepathically, "I have meditated like this against 7 oponents. It was a very interesting fight. I went up against many more than that in my last mission. But those numbers are neither here, nor there." He was still sparing with himself. What was being watched was very realistic.
It was an even match. Since he was virtually fighting himself, the match couldnt be more even. Attacks were blocked, blows and strikes were made, wounds appeared. When he was done meditating the wounds would disappear completely because they weren't really there. But, part of this meditation was the visualization itself. Clothes tore, blood splattered or flew, chunks of cement sepperated from the deck, dirt flew, sparks jumped, and sounds were made. Anyone that didn't know by now that he was meditating would think he was actually sparing with someone.
The false Shadow pulled a shurikin from his belt and flung it at Shadow. Shadow quickly moved his sword and deflected the shurikin in the direction of Outai. If it had 'hit' Outai, it would have either disappeared or just gone through her. He could have made her think it had stuck into her, had he wanted to, but he didn't. If he had, he could 'manipulate' her nerves to feel the pain that would be associated with the wound and the sensation of having a shurikin in her. And, with those sensations, natural feelings would come. But, he decided that that was perhaps not a good idea. Something he could use against an enemy if the need arrose.
The shurikin actually flew right past her head, and into the cament wall behind her. She probably could feel little chunks of cement hit her in the back. They weren't big enough to hurt, he made sure of that. The shurikin stayed.
She might get a little pissed with that one, but when this is all done, and everthing disappears, she might calm back down. I hope she doesn't get to curious and touch that shurikin, it is still sharp to the touch and she will feel it if she does. I hope the young man will be satisfied with just watching for now and doesn't let his curiousity cause him to act until after I'm done.
The two shadows were both still going at it strong. The observers were probably interested to see how the fight would end, and how the winner would be determined. The two suddenly smashed swords together and pushed hard. Neither one budging in any direction, then with a crack, both jumped back equal distances of about 10 feet. They paused and prepared for their next attacks.
With a fury and at the same time, they moved in and attacked. It was a flash of clinking and clanging, swooshing and clicks. Then just as suddenly as it started, they stopped. One had a sword to his neck and the other had a sword to his arm and two fingers at a deadly preasure point on his back. The fight was over. It ended similar to how all of his meditations ended.
The two Shadows manouvered away from each other and stood face to face. They bowed honorably once more and then turned to face the 'audience'. One of the Shadows spoke, "I hope you enjoyed the spar. This is how my daily sesions normally happen." He looked at the other Shadow and added, "Thank you. Good bye." And, unexpectedly, the one that spoke disappeared along with all of the other visual effects.

heart You found my heart and rebuilt it from dust... heart Outai had "seen" the shurikan and whatnot, and knew that none of it was real. Mooney kept her informed of that. Having a red mage cat was very useful, especially when red mages typically aren't masters of anything, yet her red mage cat was mastered in barriers and illusions. Everything else wasn't mastered, though. "That was well performed. You're very good at your illusions." heart ...and now let me return the favor for you. heart

Blitz threw out her hand, and lightning-infused blood flew out at Riku. He dodged to the side, the bolt striking just a foot away from him. He moved swiftly towards Blitz, zig-zagging all the way to throw off her aim. Bolt after bolt flew at him, all of them barely missing. He moved in close to land a blow, but she stuck her hand out and caught him in the chest. A hundred thousand volts of electricity coursed into him, and he was blown backwards by the jolt. He coughed as his heart restarted, and staggered to his feet. Despite his superhuman abilities, lightning still had a very real effect on him.
"Vat's the matter, assassin? A little electricity too much for you?" She hurled another bolt shot his way, and knocked him backwards. He was still stunned from the last hit. Like Zeus's fury, bolt after bolt hit Riku. His organs were frying, and his heart was about to burst. Worst of all, he couldn't concentrate enough to use Chaos. He finally went unconscious.
Blitz crossed the distance between them, grabbed Riku by the collar and hoisted him up. "Now I shall kill you, assassin," she said, smirking at him. "And Master Kavinsky vill we very pleased vit me." She raised her dagger, and aimed it directly at his neck. Then with all her force, she swung it down.
It never connected. A pillar of earth shot up underneath her, sending her flying. She slammed hard into a beam above, and fell to the ground. Riku, barely conscious, chuckled as she struggled to her feet.
"Vat is so funny?!" She yelled in outrage.
Riku groaned as he hoisted himself up, using the Angels for balance. "It seems my Chaos doesn't like you." The black tendrils receeded from the ground and pulled back into his body. He laughed again. "My subconscious can control Chaos as well, and it won't let me die that easily. Call it a defense mechanism, of sorts."
He raised his katars, and lightning crackled down the blades as they changed into their Wind form. "What do you say we fight fire with fire- or in this case, lightning with lightning?" He smiled as he raised his blades, and charged.

His muscles straining from his exercises in his quarters, Cyrith heaved a large breath, and collapsed to the ground. After that little escapade, he had been trying to occupy his time by doing pointless things. Helping around the compound, like in the kitchen. Talk to the guards, getting to know them. Clean up duty with the janitors. Exercise.
Right now, though, he needed to clean himself up. Grabbing some extra clothing, he headed off to the showers, intent on getting the sweat off of him. It felt good to take a shower, all the kinks in his body working themselves out in the water.
Getting out, and throwing on his clothing, he took the old ones back to his room to wash later. Right now, though, he finally decided to go somewhere that he hadn't been to in the complex yet. The library. The doors appeared in front of him like a demon from his nightmares. This was the only thing standing between him and that which he dreaded. Learning.
He shuddered, but reached out a hand to the door, and pushed it open. He may detest learning, but he wasn't a coward. Stepping into the room, he shivered. It wasn't cold in the room, but the hum of all the energy made his chest rumble, and was quite uncomfortable. Maybe there was something in here that might have pictures. They were always fun to look at.

(( Sorry, you guys, school's started, so I 've been quite busy. lol Well, anyways... ))
Korie smirked and walked to the door. "Nah, I've spent my whole life doing that. And that goes for cleaning the bathrooms and the ceiling tiles. I think I'll try something new." She stepped through the door and turned back around on her heel to wait for him. "Please, lead the way," she said, her arms crossed and her lips fixed in that inescapable smile. She gripped her arms, to keep her fingers from twitching with excitement.

((OOC: Sorry. English essays being written a lot recently. -_- Haven't had time. to come post. sweatdrop ))
Martin had watched Shadow sword-fight air, noticing how he came to quickly to a stop with that sword to be really fighting "Air", so he wasn't surprised when the clone materialized. He remembered A tale one of his masters had told him when he had been learning. A tale of how an opponent the master had faced had made a ton of clones of himself, and had been able to manipulate things with his body's excess energy.
The master had been able to defeat him, though, by inducing a deep-sleep State on himself, causing him to almost fall asleep and become unable to see with his eyes, but be able to "See" the energy and counter it. Martin had learned the technique from him, and employed a lower-level version of it to inspect the shuriken. He was surprised. It wasn't metal, yet it wasn't fully energy. it was an odd combination. He re-opened his eyes and turned around to continue watching Shadow.

Larry once again found himself wandering without aim through Mishap Headquarters. He stopped all of a sudden when he noticed a new face. Thinking back to before he left for New York, he remembered Korie as the girl he had almost knocked over in his flight to get somewhere.
He sized her up from afar, she seemed like an okay girl. Easy on the eyes, that's for sure. Approaching her, he made his introduction. "Hey, you're new, ain't ya?" Larry said, welcomingly "What's up, name's Larry. I, uh, think I almost knocked you down a while back. What's your name?"

(( @KNY: Yeah, I thought that was the case.
@Sonny: When I joined, that list at the beginning of the thread hadn't been updated in months. The guild is more reliable. For the mission, pick your own if you want, or I can set you up.
Edit: Sonny beat me to the post... ))
Infirmary, MMHQ
From the training ground came the sound of swords clashing. Voices Joel did not recognize offered comments on the combatants. Someone must have gone out recruiting recently, or maybe they'd stuck a 'we want YOU' poster in the post office. It sounded like they were training for the next job when Joel went past. The stairs of this building were located in the most awkward place, where anyone who wanted to use them had to walk through the entire building to reach them. A second stairway should be installed, he thought. Then Joel heard a voice that he recognized. He saw the kid he'd rescued in the portal room a few days earlier. He'd asked about him later, but the doctor had said that he was already up and at another mission. What was his name again? Oh, yeah - "It's great to see you up again, Larry," Joel said. They could chat as they walked to the dispatch center.

((Hmm, I was waiting to see if Yue wanted to post, but he doesn't seem to be active at the moment. Let's continue.))
Making their way towards the clocktower, Hriskarr pondered what Sotako had said. "You can't kill things from 800 metres with a sword!", he shot back. "Well... Not unless you have a very good throwing arm." he added.
As Hriskarr burst into the clocktower, door slamming into the wall with a scream of protest from the age-old hinges, an old man sleeping on a stool woke up with a start, noticed Hriskarr and Sotako, and immediately launched into a tirade of abuse for having interrupted his lunchtime nap.
"Wha, who, where! Who do you think you are to burst in h-" The old man suddenly stopped talking as he heard the roars high above them. He seemed to consider this, before finally coming up with a thought.
"Dragons?"
"YES DRAGONS!" Hriskarr shouted at the old man, while disappearing up the clock tower stairs.

Oh great, Larry thought, the one time he meets a girl in what he thinks is spare time, along comes the one person who can assign another mission. Larry laughed nervously "I'm sorry." he apologized to Korie "We'll talk later on, uh. Whoever you are."
Larry walked alongside Joel, whose face he vaguely remembered but couldn't seem to place a name to. "Yeah, I'm glad you showed up." he said "I just got back from some emergency leave back home and I want to make up for some lost time. I'm sorry for being gone for so long, but it was pretty important."

Blitz instinctively threw out a bolt, but Riku swung his Angels, and their own lightning counteracted her bolt. The two bolts connected and went out with a brilliant flash. Riku moved into the Hellion Angel's range and began a series of fast attacks. Blitz dodged most of them, but a few connected, causing her to bleed more. This was Riku's plan. Her attacks relied on her having enough blood to attack, while retaining enough to survive. While this meant that he would get jolted every time he touched her, it also meant that she would bleed to death.
Apparently, Blitz caught on, and jumped out of range. She was weakening, due to the loss of blood she had sustained. She tried to run, but simply fell over. One of the slashes had cut the muscle in her thigh, and she simply couldn't run. She began hurling more bolts, but the Angels acted like lightning rods, attracting her lightning into them and absorbing them. Finally, her arm fell, and she lay back, a pool of blood forming around her.
Riku's katars reverted back to normal, and he walked towards her. Taking care not to step into her blood, he looked down at her as she slowly bled to death.
"Y-You vill not stop him," she managed to say. "He vill become th-the ruler of zis planet. And ven he does, he vill make you suffer....." Her body went limp, and with a final sigh, Blitz died.
Riku leaned down, and closed her eyelids with his fingers. He then walked back to the bomb, which he had set in the center of the pit. After keying in a few commands, he took the detonator and began running. The bomb would suck in anything within a mile of itself- he needed to get as far away as possible.
Several minutes later, he arrived back at the cliff, just far enough away to be safe. He pulled the safety key from the detonator, and pushed in the button. With a brilliant flash, the construction site was consumed in a massive ball of light. The ball expanded to the cliff's edge, and Riku had to grab hold of a large rock to keep from being sucked in. Then, as suddenly as it had expanded, the ball collapsed in on itself, disappearing with a small flash. All that remained of the site was a huge crater.
Riku pressed the button on his comm. "This is Riku. The site has been destroyed, and Blitz is dead. Returning back to HQ."
"Well done, Riku," the voice on the other end responded. "You're turning out to be quite the mercenary."
"I'm flattered." me muttered, as he turned off his comm and headed back to Urkhal.

Korie was looking at the ceiling, hands folded behind her head as she followed Joel. Then a guy came up to her and introduced himself. Hey, wait a second...That face and voice was familiar. After a second of of identities flashing through her head, the pieces clicked into place. How could she forget the first human interaction she got when she stepped past the security guards? The guy that ran smack into her and dashed down the next hallway before a word was properly exchanged. She heard Joel call him Larry.
Korie walked behind the two, who seemed to be aquainted in some way, not wanting to interrupt their conversation, except for the quck reply to his last comment, "The name's Korie, not 'whoever you are,' by the way."
