Nicole Elf runs up to Summer with a glass of lemon ice tea in her hand. "Sorry for taking so long to get your iced tea, Ma'am." Nicole turns to James. "If you would like me to make some cookies for you I will," she says with a smile. "Sir needs to tell Nicole Elf what kind of cookies Sir wants and Nicole will make them. Does Sir still want cookies?"

Professor_Adonis LiterateThis role-play reads like a book. Dialogue is encased in quotes ( "To be or not to be..." ) while all other actions are worded in sentences. There are some who feel that Literate style tends to allow for a more descriptive role-play, which could elongate into paragraph descriptions of characters, actions, and setting, though this can also be achieved when role-playing with key symbol actions.
James, we have to read it like a book. That requires quotations and such. I think there's no chat speak in books, unless it's reading a text message and such. But we don't have to be that descriptive.

Nicole Elf looks at all the students in the kitchens. "Would anyone else like anything to eat or drink?" Nicole skips over to one side of the kitchen and grabs a broom. She starts sweeping the floor by the fireplace where some ashes spilled onto the floor.

Professor_Adonis 2 - Role-Play Style - CasualTechnically, this is not as much a style as it is a lack of style. Casual role-play within HPGoG has very little rules... or none at all. In fact, more often than not, the casual role-play areas of this subforum dissolve into chatterbox conversations. There may be a bit of role-play here, a bit of role-play there, but overall, the people in a casual role-play area neither wish, nor need, to take the role-playing seriously. There are no set rules on how the role-player must present his role-play. Frequently, IC drifts into OOC without any indication. A good example of this kind of role-play area would be the House common rooms. While sometimes a person may role-play study habits or bouncing off walls, other people will break the 4th wall constantly.LiterateThis role-play reads like a book. Some RPGs require the use of descriptive role-play, however, "Around Hogwarts" is not one of those RPGs.- What can you do "Around Hogwarts?" - Here, at the "Around Hogwarts" subforum, we promote a friendly setting for members so that those who are new to role-play can fit in without too much difficulty. As such, each common room, as well as The Giggling Pear, are always Casual role-play settings for your convenience. However, throughout the rest of Hogwarts you may be expected to role-play, at least a little bit, just for the sake of atmosphere. Any area that requires role-play will have the sentence "This thread is for role-play purposes." at the end of it's first post. All role-play forms mentioned above are accepted in this subforum.
*mixes flour eggs chocolate fudge and milk in a large bowl* any and all help making the cookies would be appreciated cause it will take less time if we all work together then i can serve them to all the slytherins in the common room

[[James, I know what I'm talking about. When he says that we don't have to be too literate, he means 4 paragraphs for one post. But we can't lol or gtg.]]

Nicole Elf gets another bowl from the cabinet and starts making more cookie mix. "How much cookies would Sir like to make," Nicole looks at James questioningly.
[OOC- James, I have to agree with everyone else. I've only been here a short period of time but I did, as well as everyone else in the Giggling Pear, read what Professor Adonis has said in the guild, and he clearly mentioned no net speak..along with many other higher members of the guild..]

((ooc 1st off you didnt read the causal part it says that it may become chatterbox at times cause it has a lack of role play and thats ok and in the chatter bx anything you post that isnt against the TOS or against the guild rules(such as you still have to be in house color) 2nd i have been telling you in story mode when i think something and if we are not having a discussion about something in character i will put " " marks around what im actually saying also if we are disscussion something in character then i will just leave it as words but )) @nicole elf "i would lie to make enough cookies to give at least 3 to every one in the common room"
pour cookie dough onto several cookie sheets making little hats or snakes shaped cookies*

"What Sir wants, Nicole Elf will make for Sirs," Nicole Elf says to James. She pours more cookie dough onto the cookie sheet and gets little cookie cutters shaped like snakes and hats.

After sliding her tray of cookies into the oven, Nicole Elf turns around and looks at the mess that was creating by making the cookies. With a snap of her fingers all the dirty dishes fly into the air and towards the sink, where they carefully plunk into the half-full sink of water. With that she turns around and heads to the fridge where, inside, sat a pitcher of the delicious iced tea she had just served to Summer. She pours a glass of the iced tea and walks it over to Sam. "Miss Sams iced tea, nice and cold," she says and hands the glass of iced tea to Sam.
