Alvaro frowned as his husband called the older nobles fat idiots. They'd been around longer than them, the least he could do was give them some respect. Luckily Lewis caught the frown and changed his dialect towards them.

"Probably relieved, you could sleep with them and then claim certain untrue things." Elliot responded. "Have you had breakfast? I was on my way to ask for some coffee before I tended to work."

"No we haven't!" Alvaro wrapped an arm around his son, "Let us go eat breakfast together."

Yashweh, Chelsea, Saleh

Elliot nodded. "We'll go eat then."

"I was fine in the cold, Lewis, I am wearing fur."

Annabelle was running up with Nix. "I'm joining!" She exclaimed, grabbing Alvaro and Elliot's hand happily, pausing. "I don't have a third hand for Papa" She whined, trying to solve her dilemma.

Elliot chuckled. "We'll find out what's for breakfast when we get there. I'm sure the chef has cooked up something nice and warm for this chilly morning."

"It must be chilly, you're still in Falian clothing."

Elliot paused, looking at his wardrobe. "Oh you're right. I should change before I catch my death. I'll meet you in the dining hall, excuse me." And let go of Annabelle's hand, moving quickly to his room to change.

Giving a happy squeal the girl held Lewis's hand. "Swing me!"

The girl laughed happily as she was swung, keeping her legs up. Alvaro was more than happy to keep swinging her. This was family, his own cute little family. The swinging stopped as they entered the dining room.

"You are getting heavy."

"I am not." Annabelle said, but she continued iggling, taking no offense to it as she looked at the small spread of fruits and cooked meats and even some breakfast tarts.

"I haven't seen Megan or Justin recently." Alvaro pointed out with a nod. "When was the last time we saw either of them, Lewis? Perhaps it's time to pay dear Megan a visit."

"Justin is still a servant boy. He might be working a lot. I think EMily said he switched jobs from inside to outside work? With the horses and animals?"

Annabelle turned up her nose "Princesses don't get down and dirty with animals unless they're bucked off a horse."

Alvaro chuckled, "You should like me when I was your age, nonetheless get yourself some food and sit down."

"Who's working with animals?" Elliot asked, adjusting his wool sleeves, forgetting how heavy his actual clothes were. "Martha go back to bed?"

"I wasn't aware she was awake."

"I can't imagine he'd be doing much work with animals. It's winter." Elliot took a bite of food, "But what do I know, I'm a king not an animal worker." Silver eyes turned to Lewis as he smoke, hiding a grin behind his hand. "Over some manual labor, Father?"

"I was a frail child!" Alvaro defended, filling his own plate. "And it was hard work and people kept on stopping by and Megan was very horrifyin when she was younger! Always covered head to toe."

"She still is." Annabelle said. "She covers her face and hands and neck."

"Moreso than nowadays. Nowadays it's thin fabric, back then she looked ready for a blizzard like today, even during summer."

"Would you stop telling me I'm not a man in front of my son!" Alvaro exclaimed. "He's laughing at me!"

It wasn't to subtle either, the new king's shoulder's trembling as he his his mouth behind his hand.

"So was Daddy a girl, then?" Annabelle asked, "If he was a princess he was a girl, right?" Her brother's shoulders only shook harder.

The girl looked over at her friend next, "After we eat we can find out. I haven't seen him a lot lately."

The little princess scooped the last of her oatmeal into her mouth, "What? You get mad at martha for tearing her clothes!"

"That's because she roughhouses." the father explained, "I was doing it to help your father."

"Did you get hurt on the streets?" But Nix was quickly finishing her food and running out. "Hey! Wait for me!' Shovelling the last of her food into her mouth she ran after her friend, chewing and swallowing. "Who's Reinette?!"

Elliot took another bite of his food. "Well then. Since we're on that topic, Uncle, would it be all right if I spoke with you in private later?"

Annabelle ran after her friend and caught up, panting and coughing. "Who's Reinette? And these halls are a little colder." She rubbed at her arms. "Why don't the servant's halls have carpets on the walls?" She looked around, stopping at Justin's door and knocked.

His mother answered the door, still in the process of putting up her hair. "Good morning. You two are up early."

"is Justin here?"

"No, he's out at the barn. Please be gentle with him, Princess Annabelle, he's had a small spring of bad luck and it's affected him a bit. So be gentle. Princess Nix, please be gentle with him as well. And if he's frightened don't question it."

"That really wasn't a good time, son." Al said, looking at the living copy of his wife. "He really has had it rough the past few days."

"I'd rather now then never, Father." Elliot murmured, "But if I always wait for the right time it will never come. A bad time is better than no time."

"You could have had some tact."

The king sighed, looking at his father before taking another bite, standing and pushing the plate away. "I'll do my best to be tactful." and walked out, looking around the halls trying to recall where the flowers were before knocking. "Uncle?"

Annabelle waved bye to Megan before stumbling after her friend. "Why can't you say his Momma's name in front of him? Does he hate it?" and stopped, shivering in the cold because she hadn't prepared to make an expidition outside. "But it's cold, Nix! can I at least wait inside the barn and you and him talk on the other end? There's a hayloft I'm sure you can talk in!"
