Keeping an eye on the hallway behind the two of them, Will began to listen in on the speech that Iden was giving to the scientist before him. At first it sounded like the usual religious fervor that most ruins and ancient temples had engraved into their walls and alters; none of it really catching Will's interest. Though after the first few words, Will could begin to hear the belief and strength in Iden's words; almost as if he where speaking from experience.

Turning from the door and looking towards Iden, Will could see him speaking to the archeologist who was in turn admiring the carvings in the walls before him. As Iden went on, Will would shift his focus from his brother to the inscriptions themselves; wondering what they would say when translated.

....Did you know archaeology is a type of SCIENCE, young man?

*The old man paused to look at Iden, then gently patted him on the arm*

I understand this place is important to you, but just a few more days and we will be done and we'll leave it alone. We arent going to take anything away, I promise.
Now, please leave before I have to call somebody. I understand you are entitled to your beliefs, truly... but I cant let the many theories Ive heard about this place taint the physical research I am doing, nor stop just because one man asks me to.

*Meanwhile, as Will panned across the images, one stood out. A child, on its knees, screaming, while all around it perished in indigo flame*

.: Do you like my work? :.

*The voice was a sinister hiss right between Will's ears, followed by a dark laugh, then gone*

Iden was forced to restrain a frown. The scientist seemed to ignore the dispassionate manner with which he spoke; the detachment to the theology. Understandably, he was a scientist...but not a very good conversationalist, it seemed.

I never said stop. I said be careful. And before I leave...I have one question for you. Which institute is behind this project? I'm curious to keep tabs on the findings.

Diplomatic as ever; Iden was refraining from speaking his mind. In truth...he wanted to clock the old man and seal the shrine. The issue was, this would solve nothing. Time to figure out a new plan...

Progressively tuning out Iden and the archeologist more and more, focusing more on the bizarre or illegible carvings on the walls around them. The moment that Will spotted the engraving of the child and heard the voice, his first thought was of Ice; it was the only thing that he knew of that would pull a trick like this. This idea was dismissed nearly as quickly as it was brought up however as the voice itself was not Ice's and the message itself didn't have Ice's usual playful tone to it.

Not exactly, though who the hell are you?

Reaching into his coat and thumbing back the hammer on the M500 in his coat pocket, Will prepared himself for the disembodied voices response; knowing that the thing would most likely be able to tear through his mind like a wet paper bag. Still, knowing that he had his weapon ready to go made him a little bit more relaxed than if he had no way to defend himself whatsoever.

Iden, I think that there is something else in here with us; be very careful what you touch on these walls alright?

Will, didn't allow any of his nervousness to show to either Iden or the scientist to pick up on, but Iden would easily be able to pick up on it in Will's message. Something was there that they couldn't exactly see, and it seemed to be quite hostile.

We are being funded by HBL, young man, but our findings are the property of the British Museum's archaeology department. The pictures and drawings we take will enable a new generation of historians to uncover more of the hidden past.
A noble goal, and I am glad you do not wish to hinder it. Good evening young man.

*The archaeologist smiled widely at Iden, and turned back to his wall.

Meanwhile.....*

.: Oh you wouldnt know me. Are you scared, little one? Doesnt the beauty of what I am sing to you? :.

*For Will, it would look like someTHING outlined in vague indigo light faded out of his own chest, and drifted across to the archaeologist. It seemed to seep in through the old man's eyes, nose, mouth, and seconds later, a heaving monstrosity would emerge out of the old man's form, spraying blood everywhere as the scythe weilding bad thing roared loud enough to shake the shrine, leering at Will*

Dismissing the old scientist to his work, Iden turned to offer a wary glance at his compatriot.

:: The daemon shouldn't be present, but he'll have power here. Don't trust anything you hear or see. We'll be leaving in a minute. ::

A short nod was given, then Iden turned away from Will to regard the central altar. He stepped forward, preparing to reach out and let his hand drift upon the stonework briefly. He had need of information...the knowledge of just how deep the daemon's influence here ran. Sealed as it was...it would surprise Iden greatly to find him strong enough to do anything, but it seemed he was mistaken...

Relaxing somewhat at Iden's statement, Will would calmly let go of the breathe he had been holding and relax against the wall behind him. Just another mind ********, not as bad as before but still, just another mind ********. No sooner had he thought those words, would the disembodied voice speak to him again; the tone and manner of speech making the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.

Watching as the indigo outline left his chest, Will only stared onwards as is went up to the professor and entered his body through his face. Watching as the thing exited the professor ala Alien, Will had no earthly idea whether this was still in the territory of mind ******** or if the man had just given bloody breach birth to some kind of daemonic spawn. Will just stood there and watched, taking Iden's words to heart and not believing that what he was seeing, or being shown, was actually happening in the real world.

Iden, please tell me that the archaeologist is standing there working and just fine, and that some kind of crazy daemon thing didn't just cut its way out of his chest.

*Even as Will spoke to Iden, the vision of horror faded and vanished, but BOTH men would hear the echoing laughter around the shrine.
Indigo light flickered under Iden's fingertips as he touched the shrine, a sharp jar of pain running up his arm, a rush of malevolent energy tugging at his mind as the Daemon laughed and laughed*

Sundered and torn, little puppet!!! Sundered and torn! Mine, mine, MINE!

*The voice bounced off the walls, the pictures on teh wall writhed and bled and moved like things from the abyss, but the archaeologist worked on as if he saw nothing*

Beautiful. Madness.

:: Steady Will...it's all in your head. ::

The violent surge of energy was unsurprising by this point. Even still, this was not something one could brace for. Sharp knives of agony touched upon his every thought.

But this was not something he had no experience with. Iden had endured such before, and he would endure again. Steeling his will, he pushed aside all weakness and tightened his grip upon the surface of the statue.

:: Are you quite done? ::

Stern, disappointed...Iden held little respect for the chaotic daemon.

Following Iden's command, Will just sat against the wall by the doorway as if nothing was going on in the room; making a point to not look at the doctor or the aberration standing in the middle of the room screaming at the top of it's lungs currently.

Any idea on what it is, or why the hell it is screaming so much?

The Daemon's continued fit was beginning to get on Will's nerves, though as much as he would like to try and put a bullet in the thing, he would stand easy at the doorway and ignore everything in the room unless it required his attention. Mainly along the lines of Iden needing help or the doctor needing 'calming.'

*Still laughing, the Daemon returned to the purple aura, darting about the room. Where it passed, the images on the wall started to change.
Most of them ended up depicting Iden somehow or other. Many of these images were of memories Iden no longer had - both from those Roan had still left sealed, and those Iden had permanently lost when ridding himself of the very creature that now bounded about its shrine like a banshee.*

Betrayal. Everyone around you Iden. You could have had revenge. Known all. Shaped metal with your hand.
Instead, torment, and sundering. Radiation, if you like. The broken LEAK.

*The aura suddenly sped towards William, spiralled around him, then darted back towards Iden and Kuni himself, though etheral and not truly whole, stood properly before the blue haired vampire. Tall, elegant, mad and evil to the core, the Daemon looked so much less dangerous than his brethren, but oozed potential danger much more.
Leaning over to Iden's eye height, it sneered as it leered its last words, jabbing him in the chest to punctuate, pain following each move*

If not you, there are others. Your pet dog, your leopard, your pathetic mistress. Those who seek are not worthy. Those who are ignorant..... need to learn.

*Ominously turning its purple eyes to the archaelogist, who was still working on oblivious to everything, Kuni again went mist and seeped into the man. No chestbursting madness this time though. Kuni SEEMED to be gone.
As a last present to Iden, Kuni flicked the 'off; switch on Iden;s memory block, and let him knwo JUST who had killed him and when, so that the 'betrayal' Roan had played out with him not so long ago was no longer some hidden time bomb.*

Will's query went unanswered. There was no chance of giving it to him; no chance at all. Not when the daemon bounded and cackled with a display of power Iden had never suspected him capable of. Later, perhaps, Iden would curse up a storm for his carelessness, but for the present, he needed a honed edge of will to stand his ground.

Unafraid, he stared down the creature that manifested before him. Glowing indigo eyes matched their wickedness with the determination of the young kindred's azure. The stabs of physical pain in his ribs meant little as he scowled, both in defiance and disappointment.

:: A childish gesture, Kuni. I'd have expected more from your ilk. ::

Bold words, and perhaps premature by a few seconds. No sooner had Iden 'voiced' them as he found his hand repelled from the statue, as if he had been bitten by the stone. Recoiling sharply, his eyes were wide and his thoughts clouded. He staggered back a step as realization flooded his mind. Hearing only a haunting laugh as he shook his head, forcing himself to remain coherent, the young DeSeer's hand drifted to Will, waving him forward.

Will? We're leaving. There is much to discuss and little time.

Hearing Iden practically leap away from the statue he had been examining, Will quickly spun around and began to move towards his brother; all kinds of scenarios playing through his head on what had happened. Thankfully Iden quickly stabilized and regained his usual composure, alleviating Will's most pressing fears.

"You alright?"

No sooner had Will opened his mouth and asked did Iden give the command to leave.

"Alright, you want me to get us out of here the same way we got in, or just walk out the front door?"
PostPosted: Mon Dec 13, 2010 11:48 am

*For his part, the archaeologist looked up breifly when they said they were leaving... then went back to his notes.
The Shrine was quiet around the three in the room. That vague feeling of unsettling wrongness was still there, but the active malevolance was gone.

Back at the mansion, Roan took a shower. Just saying.

Wordlessly, Iden waved to the door they had entered through. For his part, he was busy with filing and comprehending the information that had been unlocked. Like a box that had fallen from a shelf, the collection of thought and memory had scattered the contents of this betrayal all over his mindscape.

Picking through the bits as they skulked back into the side chamber, Iden found that the impact was mostly a period of confusion. No hate, wrath, or other such emotion came to pass.

He pushed such thoughts aside. The confusion would linger for a while yet, but right now there was work to be done. Steeling himself, Iden nodded to Will.

Get us out of here, and at a safe distance. I'll explain what that was when we're clear.
