It's like in elementary school, everyone wants to be the mean kids, because there's some misconception that everyone else likes them.
Trolls are the loneliest people on the internet.
So insincere, themselves, that they simply cannot enjoy the company of others honestly... and that's what causes "drama."
Go pop on over to MPL for a few hours and you'll probably see some kind of hierarchical change in trolls, where everyone realizes they hate someone suddenly, because the cool kids hate them. And the "cool kids" are actually looking to everyone else for direction, which comes in the form of encouragement.
It's an unstable social situation which tears itself apart, because it's based in insincere relationships that deep down someone thinks are fake.
