Oh, the manga never goes into detail with anyone but Luffy's story during that time. The rest of the Strawhats' stories are told through The cover pages. or chapter starts, or whatever that goofy single panel Oda uses is called.

Renz, you should watch and read Fairy Tail. not only is the art style similar to One Piece, it basically IS One Piece.

 Seriously, though. Very similar art. Lots of fun, though. It's hasn't been bogged down by overly long, over arching arcs yet. Each arc, while a little lengthy, is fairly self contained.

Eichiro oda draws his women with more uncanny curves than the fairy tail person does.
Pretty close, though.
