What gets me, is that they were PERFECTLY fine, destroying journalists for supporting Wikileaks, until this, i had very little interest in wikileaks, because honestly, just about everyone knows the government is lying to SOMEONE, so it was kind a Meh thing. But when the LAWYERS are encouraging people to break the laws to get rid of them? well.... that makes me pay attention.
What that man wanted to do was WRONG, there is suppose to be freedom of press, what's happening to that? And what i worry about is HOW he meant to destroy their careers, if there were "documents" created that marked them as terrorists.... what then? they would be prosecuted and removed.... that's a very scary thought.

Well there is a difference between freedom of press and posting illegally obtained documents. I mean, the sire is protected by a team of hackers. Doesn't that tell you how they get that information?

Actually, a couple of points. Anonymous are not just hackers, free though, and intelligence is the basic requirements. "hackers" is a scare word, like "terrorist"
Second, they aren't ALL leaked Documents. From what i have seen quite a few of these things HAVE been released, just covered up. And you mean to tell me, that you have NO interest, or think that the public has ANY right to know about these things? I know you've never been there, because you can get your husband in trouble... but seriously, the ONLY reason there is a problem, is we are LITERALLY being lied to. I personally have interest in KNOWING what is going on behind the scenes. For instance, big business, and what they are doing. this affects ALL of us, look at the economy. and you mean that we don't have a right to know?

I would love to know what is actually going on, but I can't sort through all the lies. The government is really pathetic.

And from what I have heard the entire site is illegal and can get whomever visits in trouble. *shrugs* That whole case has given me an even worse view of the site, especially since they attacked that person and made emails public and erased documents for the company. It was just a game of "look what I can do". Neither side was right, so I dislike both. But I don't agree with Annonymous's responce at all. Granted blackmail wasn't wise of the lawyers. It's just all screwed up and neither party can be justified.

The "counter hacker" threatened THEM first, it was very clear what he did, and what he was threatening, this isn't BLACKMAIL he was after, for either the supposed leaders of Anon, OR the journalists. He was out to DESTROY lives... over documents about a BANK'S shady dealing, we're not talking National secrets that KILL people, we are talking a BANK..... that's whats so utterly scary. whats next? seriously, think about where this is leading, that they have the RIGHT, to do this, it's STILL illegal to treat citizens this way, for supporting a website?

I'm a bit confused with the flow of everything that happened so I will probably end up watching that episode again. I am going to show it to my husband.

Banks are all smoke and mirrors. They really do not care about their people. That is the view that I have had of banks ever since I have banked. Supposedly Credit Unions are better and more for the people. Our CU now is very good. We've never been charged. I'm really not surprised that it's a bank.

And I just asked, Wikileaks is an illegal site, in the U.S.

*nods* well, Gods forbid the truth ever be known about money, or government, or economy, or oil, or global warming... we just might hold someone accountable after all.

Well people are getting a semi-truth out. There are those suspicions, but a lot of people are starting to believe them. Like the war was about oil or revenge for daddy. BP purposely blew that hole in the pipe. Banks are corrupt. Senators and reps are corrupt. Hell, we've know that last one for years, but no one can seem to get their fat asses out of the chair!

Who was that 90 some year old dude who JUST now retired from being a rep? WHY was he 90? He didn't make any difference. He was just sitting in the seat so he could get his millions.... I still do not understand why those pencil pushers are getting paid the amount they are. Same with "athletes"... They were athletes when they played on a field for their friends and family. Now they are just glory hounds... Rant rant rant XD

I could really go on and on, but like I said, there are so many lies that we have to sort through in order to get to any truth. It's all lies and corruption... But we can't do anything about it because we have no clue what is going on. When people try to understand someone accusses them of something...

I think that's the point behind supporting things liek WikiLeaks though. see?

when you can get to see every video, hear every radio conversation and telephone conversation, read every document.... unedited, uncensored, regardless of it's legallity... you know you are getting raw truth, and you have only your own mind and opinions to decide what to make of it.

if we continue to stay back in fear, the government, or any person rich enough for that matter, can just smash that site. there needs to be a spirit of unity between all of us smaller folks that tells us "we won't let them silence us!"

take a look at what's going on in wisconsin right now, and ohio. the whole collective bargaining rights battle for unions. it's all about eliminating the only campaigning threat against the republican party: unions.

take a look at arizaona, omaha, north carolina... these states that have won republican governership and majority republican congresses are now trying to close up voter registrations, block imigration and education/citizenship rights/oppurtunties for AMERICAN children of immigrants, and take dangerous extremes against abortion that are impracrical and also allow for murder! ._.

this is all part of an entire plot for the republican party and their big-bucks partners to rule america. it started a long time ago, and even walt disney played his part, with his government contracts, and his pioneering of the marketing synergy strategy.

But Wikileaks is illegal in the U.S. It is a foreign website. So you could actually get in trouble for supporting that site, since it is not American and illegal and all that jazz. I would not support a site like that though, one that has hackers doing its bidding.

You do not necessarily get the truth from those documents. There are still fabricated "official" documents, I am sure. I don't think the government would document everything about it's corruption.

I don't even know what is going on with some of those states. All I hear is the mass pandemonium going on. The last thing I heard from AZ is that the governer got shot along with 8 pr 9 others. Then the report of the dead farmer, ellegidly killed by illegal immigrants since his ranch was bordering the Mexican border.

I agree with the Republicans trying to take over the U.S. in their "get rich" schemes... Look at what happens everytime a Republican is in office... Everything goes up, the little people pay more while the rich pay less and earn more... When hasn't this happened?

I think that sums up this nation's foreign policy pretty well, at the moment. Kinda makes me want to move to Australia!

Well, I think if Wikileaks would stay focused on stuff that really affects the average person, I would be more interested in keeping up with it, but the whole exposure of the petty 'he said she said' diplomatic crap a couple of months ago really solidified my disinterest in it. I don't even put up with that s**t from my friends, and it really damaged relations that were important, and helpful to the populaces of the world.

I think focusing on corporate and government scandal is good, but it is hard to know you are getting the truth from or about either side. It become a huge political/media 'he said she said'. Some things are pretty plain to see though, without know who said or did what. If society as a whole stood up and said, this isn't acceptable and we aren't going to put up with this s**t any more!" Things would start to change without having to know who did what.

The fact that everyone is so pessimistic that things can change, or so disinterested in how ineffective our government and information services are, gives those services free reign to go as far as they want.

If there was a US based wikileaks that focused on just the corruption, it would probably fall because not enough people would give a damn, but that would be something I would be interested in following. One diplomat saying another diplomat's a** looks fat in a particular dress isn't something that matters to me, and it discolors any real information they might have for me to be interested in.

I actually prefer less government, not more. Sort of like the old west. Or Australia. I have enough problems in my life without adding politics to them, thank you very much.

People get so tetchy when they don't have anything to challenge, so they decide to challenge the government, and the government rises to that challenge, and it just turns into a madhouse! I honestly believe that the reason Australia has the highest national standard of living is because they have better things to do that sit around and b***h about parliament--you know, like actual work! (BTW, that wasn't a jab at you, or anything, just a mini-rant against some lazy bums I know who think they're serving their country by wearing a hole in the carpet with cyclical reasoning with politics.)

That, and 2/3rds of the nation are surfers.

SURFER GOVERNMENT!!! I'd totally vote for that!!!

I agree the whole "he said, she said" thing is immature and not the correct way to go about anything. So is "tit for tat"... They never accomplish anything. So even if the site is trying to do something, the way they are going about it is not the best way to gain followers.

I figured I'd give a little pregnancy update.

I'm still pregnant XD About 5 or 6 weeks now. I'll be going to another doctor this week to get the proper examinations I need. Hopefully a sonogram, I'm not sure if they can see anything this early though, and a due date.

About how Wikileaks is illegal due to things it's saying about the US gov't, I actually have something that backs the gov't on that one. During WWI, there were several court cases nation-wide about anti-war speakers and such. They showed that the gov't has the power to arrest, shutdown, or destroy any person, group, or document(s) that go against it that "show a clear and present danger."

Bankers are greedy bastards, I think we all agree on that (;

The whole reason Australia is so awesome government-wise is because it was originally inhabited by banished criminals!

(Keeping in mind that I don't know what party I supposedly belong to: ) I recently find myself supporting a lot of the Democrats, mostly the 'liberal' ones. They sincerely seem intent on change for the better. Like more tax breaks for the middle-class, higher taxes for the rich (YES! lol), and more funding for schools and actually good things like that.

I hate the Michigan governor though, he can get shot for all I care. ANOTHER education cut: $400 off of each student for each school state-wide. My school barely had enough to get us through this year, the yearly spring musical was fought hard for due to cuts in our arts fund. The choir and band classes might have to combine (rather than there being Choraliers and concert choir and symphonic band and concert band, just one band and one choir). My school is better off than some, a couple don't even have music classes, but Snyder just pisses me off. He even cut the film industry's budget (in Michigan) from $5 million to $1 million! He won't tell anyone where he's putting the money either! Probably in his own damn pocket!

Random rant...

I never said anything about Gov't-run socialism. I don't like that either. Worker-owned co-operatives are the way to go.

And I'd love to go live in Australia if it weren't for the fact that unlike movies, videogames that would get an R18+ rating are refused classification and effectively banned. That and they have an internet censorship program. Two big put-offs for me.
