The train trip was pretty uneventful for the first few hours. Even if the train was fast, it still took awhile to travel in between regions. Sam decided to let Star and Miles have some fresh air. She immediately regretted the decision as Miles swung from seat to seat, landing on people's heads. She quickly recalled him, and sunk into her seat in embarassment. Star sat on the empty seat next to her, and laid her head down, falling asleep in a ray of sunlight. Orion sat across from her, chuckling. He stopped abruptly, and looked beyond Sam's seat. She turned around, and Sam saw blackness. She looked up, and saw a rather large man. He was intimidating, with a black shirt covering his muscles, and ripped blue jeans. He was bald, and had tattoos on his scalp. He looked like a good for nothing biker thug, and he certainly exuded an air that affirmed Sam's suspicions. He glared at Sam.
"Hey, was that your Mankey? It landed on my head, and scratched through my tats! LOOK AT THIS!" he roared, as held out a bloody hand. Sam shrank back, terrified.
"Well...Um...I'm sorry I didn't kno-"
"DIDN'T KNOW?! You're joking! Of course you knew! You did it on purpose! I saw you direct him! You're one of those b****** who thinks all men are evil, and think she has the superiority to do whatever she wants!" He raised a hand as if to slap her. Sam, still terrified, but also getting really angry at the injustice.
"Ex-ex-excuse me?! I did what?!" She felt a stinging slap, and she cried out.
"Shut up!" She heard whispers around her. Orion had stood up.
"Leave her alone," he said, deadly quiet. The guy laughed. He really was giant, at least a foot taller then Orion.
"What are you, her slave? I can't believe you stuck with this w****" Orion removed a pokeball as the conductor came sprinting up. He held up his hands, cowering a bit behind Orion.
"Now, hear me out! If you don't calm down and apologize...I'll-I'll throw you off the train." He didn't sound convincing, and Orion rolled his eyes. He released the pokemon in the pokeball. It was a Diglett. Sam thought to herself, 'For someone who is studying in an Electric Gym town, he seems to lack any Electric pokemon' The cueball cackled, and Sam flinched as he raised his hand to hit her again.
"Sucks for you, little man." He took his own ball, a great ball by the looks of it, and released the pokemon within. A putrid smell filled the air. A purple moon shaped object hung in the air. "My Koffing here can't be hit by Ground moves. Meaning your little high and mighty Diglett just entered a one way battle." Orion reeled. Sam inched away from the man.
"Orion, doesn't he have any non-ground moves?!" Orion shook his head, now looking a little scared himself.
"Um...not really? He only has Astonish...Could you handle this one Sam? I don't want to wear Freesia out...Plus she kinda doesn't fit in here" Sam started reaching for her pokeballs, but the man grabbed her.
"Not so fast, sweetheart..." he murmured. Star, who had finally awoken to see what the fuss was about, growled at the man. He barely gave the little Mudfish a glance. The conductor was trembling. They were creating quite a scene. Sam felt the train slowing down. As it screeched to a stop, the conductor practically shoved them off the train. The man still had a grip on Sam's arm. She was shaking, and crying. The Koffing followed, emitting puffs of toxic gas. Star hopped down, avoiding the luggage the conductor threw out after them. She aimed a Mud-Slap at the Koffing, but of course it missed. "Ah ha, so you do have fight in you. Well maybe I'll let you fight me. It's cute to see girl trainer's try and beat me." He let her go, and she stumbled backwards. She ran away as quickly as possible.
"Sam!" Orion cried out. Sam turned, and saw the thug had hold of their luggage, and was reaching for Star. He grinned evily.
"I suppose you can replace my lost prize," he said as he extended his arms. Sam screamed.
"Star! Bite!" Star was delighted to comply, and she bit hard on the man's fingers. He barely flinched, and kept reaching. "Star! Do something!" Star had frozen up. Sam needed to take control of the situation, something she desperately did not want to do. Any time she took control, she was afraid she going to fail, let everyone down. If she failed to help...what would happen? He would take Star, their luggage, her...She froze up too. She sat down, in shock. What could she do? There was nothing...nothing at all.

The figure turned to face Venerax, and he was surprised to see the smiling face of the young man whom was standing atop the dias.
"Good evening, friend," He greeted in a soft almost melodic vioce. "Welcome to my humble abode."
"Thanks for the welcome," Venerax answered a little awkwardly his game thrown off by the young owner's appearance.
"I beleive you have met my assistant, Arturo," He continued with a motion to the labrat. "But allow me to introduce myself. I am the pokemon researcher, Bill."
Only those who lived under a rock didn't know who Bill was. The reclusive pokemon researcher had invented the computer systems that allowed the transportation and sometimes storing of pokemon in pokeballs. "Well, I have to say I wasn't expecting to meet a celebrity out in the middle of no where. My name is Venerax, its an honour to meet you."
"I would not call myself a celebrity," Billed laughed. "Just a humble researcher adding his knowledge to the collective archives."
"Heh, well celebrity or no, you're well known in Kanto," Venerax chuckled.

Riza agreed and followed Keegan into the restaurant, her imagination only slightly running away with her. Maybe Sheriden and Sheena were part of the mob and had done shady dealings with Keegan and his family. Or something. She really didn't know, but it was fun to guess at. 'I'll see if I can also get him to tell me the whole story about what happened with Kasiya back there in Slateport,' she thought as they sat down in the booth. If she knew more about what kinds of topics to avoid, then she really would be able to help him forget about the blonde girl. 'What's so great about her anyways,' Riza thought as she quickly looked over the menu. It took several moments for her to realize both keegan and the waitress were looking at her. "Oh...um, I'd like an ice tea please," she said, waiting until the young woman had walked away before she placed her hands on the table, and grinned over at Keegan.
"So...you promised me stories," she said, carefully pushing her black hair neatly behind her ears so she could clearly gaze at the red head. "Particularly those girls you were just talking to. And I wanna know what the deal is with that blonde haired girl from yesterday that's not your girlfriend." Her smile was a bit devilish, but she didn't care. She wanted to know, and she wouldn't let up until she knew the whole stories.

This too is sacred... Route 6 to Saffron City wasn't as long as other routes in the Kanto region so getting from Vermillion to the home of the Water Gym didnt' take all night. It was quite peaceful as the man and his Pokemon walked along, usually saying nothing at all. Eventually they reached the city limits and Travis had enough time before the sun came up to hide himself in a random houses' tool-shed after pinching some early morning baking from a bakery. The warm buns disappeared rapidly as he and his Machop gulped them down then settled into sleep. Most of the objects in the shed, some shovels and a rake, old pots full of dry dusty dirt, and a broken wheelbarrow, gave the distinct impression that they weren't used often, if ever.
Safe enough, I guess. he thought as he drifted off, his Pokemon's head resting heavily on his thigh. For the first time in days the strange dreams didn't come; there was no running or laughing eyes, no falls or flame-breathing Pokemon. Sometime around mid-day he woke and recalled the Machop into it's Pokeball, just incase he had to run if someone DID check the shed, and then went back to sleep. It was stiflingly warm inside but a tiny bit of breeze flowed across the floor from under a crack in the door, keeping him cool enough to doze. When he woke again it was nearly too dark to see and he smiled to himself.
"Time to go." Travis said to himself as he rose awkwardly from the floor, stretching out a couple of cramps in his arms and legs. He poked around inside the bag that had held the buns but not a single crumb remained. "Damn." Grumbling, he crumpled it up and left it in the shed. A quarter of an hour later found him on the road North to Cerulean City in a new pair of pinched pants, shirt, baseball hat and a muffin in one hand. Man I wish I had some money. That would make things just a little bit easier. Waitaminute.... Pausing just outside Saffron he unslung his backpack and unzipped it. Inside were several obviously Pokemon related objects but also an envelope. He opened it and found a small stack of paper money wrapped in a peice of note-paper. Opening that he saw a large red R emblazoned at the top.
"Travis, It's been a heck of a ride! I hate to let you go like this but one screw-up of massive porportions is enough. Good luck with whatever you get into, just don't come sniffing around here again. ~Marco"
"Well I'll be damned." His face broke into a wide grin and he leafed through the money. Blue eyes widened as he counted it again; nearly $700! The other items would be helpful in taking care of his Machop, and well, the train ticket perfect for avoiding Officer Jenny if he needed too. ...love as thou wilt

'You'll never get things done if you don't try.' Her mom's motto came floating to her in her thoughts. She buried her head in her knees. Orion was yelling at her, and Star was whining. The thug had her in his hands, and although she kicked and bit, he didn't let go. Sam cried. 'Haven't I had to deal with enough creeps?!' she thought to herself as she banged her hand against her forehead. She felt something rattling. It was Miles' pokeball. She touched it, and Miles emerged screaming bloody hell. He launched himself at the thug, who taken by surprise, dropped Star, and covered his face. Star came running towards Sam, a determined look on her face. Not two feet away, she stopped and blasted Sam with water. It shook her out of her reverie. She stood, and watched as Miles' scratched the guys face and then came dashing back to her, hands a little bloody. The thug was a mess. He held his hands to his face as he swore over and over again.
"Goddammit...Koffing Smog!" The purple moon with an idiotic look on it's face suddenly swelled. A toxic purple gas flowed out of it's craters. It enshrouded Star, and she started coughing. It was dense enough that it stuck to Star, big noxious globs of it, and it dissolved into Star's skin. It took on an unhealthy pallor.
"Star, Water Gun!" Star aimed a Water Gun at the stupid floating hunk of rock, but it barely tapped it. The Poison Gas pokemon spun round and round. When it stopped, it looked to it's trainer for an order. None forthcoming, it took matters into it's own hands. It glowed an intense white. The thug saw, and ran. Orion grabbed Sam, and pulled her to ground. Sam saw what was coming a little too late. "Star! Look-" The Koffing Selfdestructed. It fell to the ground unconscious amidst an enormous explosion that surrounded Star. When the dust settled, Sam ran to get Star. She was barely conscious, and as Sam picked her up, the poison took it's toll. She fainted in Sam's arms. Sam returned her to her pokeball. She suddenly realized she had no idea where Miles was. She looked where the thug had been. A little white fluffball was lying 10 feet away, near the train tracks. Sam couldn't tell whether he was unconscious or not. She jumped down from the platform, and picked him up. His eyes opened, and he looked at her without recognition. Fury filled his eyes, and he started to attack her. She groped wildly for his pokeball, and a red light enveloped him. She scrambled back onto the platform. The Koffing lay there, abandoned by his trainer. Orion wrapped his hands in his jacket, and picked it up. He wrinkled his nose.
"Come on, we need to get them to a Pokemon Center." Sam nodded. 'I hate that move' She knew that using Selfdestruct resulted in a draw if the target fainted. So she hadn't lost, but she hadn't won either.
After being fully healed, they exited and Orion released Freesia. They had decided to leave the Koffing at the center, on the off-chance the thug came back for it. Freesia came out, and immediately shoved her face against Sam's.
"Freesia, get over it. I need you to take us to Lilycove." She turned her head and eyed Orion. Sam, too tired to deal with the jealous dragon, hopped on her back. A thought occured to her.
"Why couldn't you have used Freesia? You could've just taken her to the pokemon center to get healed later." Orion shrugged.
"I wanted to see you battle. I was going to step in if it got really bad, but..." he trailed off. Sam scowled.
"Let's just go. I don't want to be late after all this." Orion looked at her with a remorseful expression. He sighed, and climbed on behind her.
"A little gratitude could go a long way. You would have been stuck in Mt. Moon without me" he said.
"Whatever happened to your errand in Saffron? Or was that a ruse to spend time with me?"
"Yes and no. I did have an errand in Saffron, but it got canceled because of the Gala. That's why I have the two tickets, to make up for coming all that way." Freesia beat her wings, and they were soon high above Slateport. Sam realized she had hardly got to see the city.
'I'll have to spend more time in Lilycove...'

"Well if your going to be leaving you may need this." Breaker turns to his father and sees a map in his hand. "Thanks dad." He says as he pockets the map. "Its only for meteor falls. I thought since you were heading that way you would probably need it." "Dad I'll be okay, I've been in there thousands of times." "Yes but you've never explored it fully, I just want you to be safe." "I will, and i'm not only going to explore the world, I've decided to prove that I'm a master of water." "I'm sure you will son, I'm sure you will." He said with a tearful grin, and a hearty hug. "Make your old man proud boy."
Breaker nodded with a smile as he walked out the door to his home. It was off on his new journey, and first stop meteor falls. "It's just you and me now Reverie." As breaker smile at his pokeball and started towards Route 114.

"Don't give him the chance to recover, Blaziken," Jaeshan commanded as Hitmonchan began to pulverize the falling stones around him. "Get in there and use Double Kick!" He thrust his hand forward, knowing victory was quite close. They just had to get past Hitmonchan... Blaziken raced forward as the last of the stones fell, wrists blazing with flames as she launched herself at the Punching Pokemon, aiming to land one solid kick after the other. Jaeshan couldn't help but be impressed with how much faster and stronger she'd become after her final evolution, though he wasn't sure how long she could hold out. After all, he knew evolving took a tremendous amount of energy, as he'd witnessed evolution quite a few times now and for the most part the Pokemon in question had managed to survive a few more rounds before succumbing to exhaustion. But then again, she'd come out of the gate as a fully-energized Combusken, taking only a Thunderpunch from Medicham before her change was triggered, so he couldn't be sure. Either way, I'm still very proud of her, the tall blonde thought fondly.

"I suppose I will concede at that then," Bill laughed again with a broad smile. "But I beleive we should get you settled in for the night. You seem road weary, and we all can become better aquainted in the morning."
"That would be great actually, and you're absolutely right," Venerax smiled rubbing the back of the head embarrassedly. It was the first time he was aware of how travel stained he probably was. "I'm not the only road weary one though."
"Oh?" Bill quirked an eyebrow slightly.
"Yes, my pokemon and I have been on the road for a couple of weeks now," Venerax explained. "I don't suppose you've got some facilities for them to be tended, do you?"
"Of course," He smiled and held out his hand. "Just give them to me and I'll make sure they get some good rest and care. Arturo, you can show to a guest room, right?"
The lab...Arturo still looked a little stung from his loss against Venerax, but when Bill turned to him and asked. He cleared his head and nodded. "Of course. Follow me."
Venerax took Cal's, Booky's, and Calistra's balls off his belt placing them in Bill's experienced hands. "Thanks, see you in the morning." And then turned and followed Arturo.

Oblivious to the wild theories Riza was forming inside her pretty little head, Keegan pretended to be interested in the menu as she brought up the subject of Sheridan and Sheena, as well as other topics he didn't feel like discussing just this instant. He frowned slightly, realizing it probably would be best to tell her about the Naokumi sisters, at the very least. "All right, I'll tell you," he said finally, leaning a bit closer to her so that he could see directly into her eyes. "But you've gotta do two things. One, shut up. And two, shut up. Got it?" He sighed and leaned back in his seat, placing his hands palm-down on the cool surface of the table. Sure, the whole ordeal with Helios was over now, but it still stung in his heart a little when he thought about it. It hadn't exactly been easy. "Well, first off, my parents own and operate a breeding center in Lavaridge Town," he began, figuring it would make the most sense if he started there. "People come from all over Hoenn, and even Johto and Kanto to commission specially-bred Pokemon from them, for a price, of course. About seven or eight months ago, Sheridan paid my parents a lot of money for a Pokemon; a Vulpix, in fact." He figured that emphasizing 'a lot of money' would be enough of a hint for Riza to let her know that Sheridan was incredibly wealthy. "My parents, being reputable as they are, did just that, and within a few weeks, a baby Vulpix was born. Even after calling her, Sheridan never showed up to claim him. At this point, I had been the one taking care of him, as was my job. After about five months and still no response from Sheridan, my parents decided to give him to me, as he was pretty much mine by that point anyway." He paused, thanking the server as she brought them their drinks. She probably would have lingered, most likely out of boredom had Keegan not given her an annoyed glare.
He had a sip of his Coke and leaned back in his seat, looking up at the ceiling. "It was actually my parents' idea for me and Helios to leave home on a journey of our own," he conceded. "I guess they thought I could use some work on my people skills. But I did eventually leave, even though I wasn't sure I wanted to. I was getting tired of always working." He forced a chuckle, gazing out the nearby window. Perhaps that had something to do with the way things went between him and his friends. He was almost always busy running some errand for his parents, much to the disappointment of Mike and Flannery. He closed his eyes. Maybe if I had shirked my chores more often, Mike would never have had the opportunity to join Team Magma, he thought, a deep frown creasing his forehead. Even though his subconscious knew better, the part of him that still cared about his childhood-best friend was willing to believe that he was at least partially responsible for the Kyoka boy's misdeeds. He opened his eyes again and looked across the table at the raven-haired girl. "You with me so far?" he asked. ===== Miharu watched as the girl recalled her Machop and the other unknown Pokemon, though she was certain she could find it in her PokeDex if she really wanted to. She saw her gaze flicker to her scraped-up arms and Miharu suddenly wished she'd thought to throw on her long-sleeved shirt. Explaining how she got those cuts would be difficult, seeing as she wasn't so sure herself. She stood up as Tyra introduced herself, knowing it was far more polite to stand while shaking the hand of someone she'd just met. Though now on her feet, she was still quite dwarfed by Tyra and she silently wished she'd hurry up and grow a few more inches, at least, as she shook the girl's hand. "Nice to meet you, Tyra," she said. "My name is Miharu." She tucked a loose strand of green hair behind her ear, realizing her ponytail must have been pretty messed up and she made a mental note to fix it later. "What brings you all the way out here?" she asked. It seemed like the obvious question to ask next. Her gaze then fell on the Houndour, still valiantly guarding Tyra's belongings, and she smiled. "Your Houndour sure is protective," she added.

A familiar, heavy flapping sound interrupted the miniature reunion, and as M.A. turned around to investigate she saw her brother leaping off Maxine (the Tropius) to sprint towards her. "What happened? Maxxy got us in a panic, we didn't know what... Is everyone okay?" he interrogated fiercely, grabbing her shoulders protectively with one of his limber arms as he glanced around at all the Pokemon and the Tropius egg. His eyes searched for some sign of distress, some villain to defeat for his younger sister/damsel in distress, but found neither.
"Yes, everyone's here and fine," M.A. said somewhat quietly, daring not to meet his eyes and instead casting them to the side. Was there an easy way to say that someone had stolen Maxine's egg while they were on the beach? "Someone stole Ulani and Maxine's egg while we were on the beach," she explained, figuring nervously that she might as well be blunt and out with it.
Rein (Sae's fiance, if y'all don't remember) hopped off Maxine next. The tiny little woman was wearing a pink kitchen apron and was waving around a steel baseball bat. "WHAT? Where is he? I'll show him to steal my baby's baby," the woman shouted in her soprano voice. Sae's eyebrows raised incredulously and his eyes slid over to Ulani, who was currently picking at the remnants of duct tape stuck to her body. He turned to M.A. and waggled a brow, indicating that she ought to finish the story.
"Well, we battled him and won but then he ran off in some van, but fortunately Diego managed to gnab Ulani and the egg while he was busy. He had other Pokemon too, though, not ours but somebody's, I'm sure..."
"Rein, why don't you call the cops? God, why is it you who always gets into these situations?" he frowned.
M.A. shrugged helplessly. A thought passed her mind and it began bother her terribly. "I can't understand why someone would want to steal Pokemon; it's not like they're goods, to be shipped off or whatever... But I'm really sorry about losing the egg and making you worry."
Saebum sighed, looking at his naive sister's face; she looked like she was expecting him to be very upset, from the way she set that subtle brace in her lips. Instead he ruffled her hair. "Wasn't your fault; Maxine was there too, and the thief slipped past her too. Just in the wrong place at the wrong time... But you're always running into trouble, always..." He was about to say 'victimized', but thought that had too negative a connotation. "The world out there isn't as pleasant as our home in Fallorbor, or in the places you've been thus far. You're going to meet nasty people out there, and with your luck you'll find yourself in even nastier situations, and can I really trust that you can take care of yourself?" he murmured, wrapping the girl into a bear hug. "I'm really worried about you, you know." Her thin frame in his arms made him think she was so breakable, so vulnerable -- but wait, there was something squishy in there. It took him a moment to decipher what that just might be, and when he discovered the answer he was extremely disgruntled and broke away from the hug immediately to inspect (objectively now, since he was definitely a taken man and by no means plagued by incest). When did his sister start growing a chest? That wasn't there before.
"You especially stay away from boys when you're out there. Particularly those teenage ones, they have nothing good in their heads... I'm buying you mace right now," he muttered angrily to himself before stalking off to Maxine, who was curiously watching Ulani fondle her egg. To the dinosaur's surprise, the usually timid little bugger twitched when the bird sang; it had only twitched once before, and then only in the presence of Maxine and no one else.

Venerax followed Arturo through the halls of the lighthouse mansion. The labrat seeming intent on not saying anything at the moment. Finally they came to a stop infront of a wooden door. Arturo opened it and flicked on the lights inside the room. Unlike the hallways the room was lit with normal lamps. It was fairly spacious. It had single bunk in one corner, a couch, a pair of bookshelves, and even a tv. They all had carvings on them similar to art that filled the halls.
"There's a washroom through that door," Arturo pointed to another door in the room. "If you want to use it."
"Uh, thanks," He wasn't sure if there was a slight built into that suggestion. "Well, good night. See in the morning."
Arturo pushed his glassed more firmly into place. "Y'know you only won by luck."
It was a statement not a question. Venerax was sure his skill had a bit to do with it. But no need to agitate him. He smiled brightly, and winked. "Of course, its what I count on!"
Arturo huffed some. "Well, we'll see how far it takes next time. Good night."
With that the labrat turned and left Venerax to his own devices. He guessed he should make himself comfortable then.

Jun was very, very satisfied with himself as he passed through the immaculately clear glass sliding doors of his fancy schmancy hotel (the owner of which, if you'd recall, gave him a free suite due to Jun's possession of potential blackmail).
For one (and most importantly), he had done an exceedingly good job with his clients today, and secondly, he had made a good amount of pocket money from the evening's showcase. These showcases were one of his many ongoing projects, beneficial in mostly practice but also somewhat financially. The brilliant scheme was this -- he would advertise his services by grabbing a few lost souls and giving them a makeover, then afterwards taking more clients at a relatively inexpensive cost (inexpensive because he was catering to the general public here, and because his equipment, accommodations, and staff were extremely limited). Frankly he wouldn't have minded beautifying everyone for free, but there were living expenses to pay for, products and fabrics to buy, and of course the latest Dolce and Gabbana scarf to get as a present to himself. Gorgeousness didn't come cheap, you know.
So he and his little posse (consisting of Demi the Jynx and Posh the Roselia) were about to enter the elevator of Hearthome's hotel, all too eager to crack open that D&G catalog when he got back to his room, when suddenly a sharp wedge was thrust into Jun's heart.
Somewhere nearby a woman's heart was crying so, so wretchedly, he wondered how the rest of the world could so coldly continue to function! "Where could this ailing creature be?!" he lamented, spinning on his heels; Demi had spun around in near perfect synchronization, having known Jun so long that she could somewhat predict the unpredictable man's next move. She could not, however, hear the sound of a wounded heart like Jun could (or said he could, anyways, but he was pretty damn accurate so who knows?).
"There!" he said, casting his sharp emerald gaze to a middle-aged woman and her son huddled over something in the short distance.
Demi and Posh both raised a brow at each other questioningly but followed Jun without a peep as he fearlessly approached the duo.

Venerax closed the door behind as Arturo left. He moved to the bed unslinging his backpack onto the couch, and flopping down unceremoniously before removing his shoes. He didn't feel it really before, but now back in the lap of civilization he felt gridgy from head to toe.
He stood back up deciding that a shower was in order. First finding the remote and switching the tv on, and flipping channels until he found the news. Best to catch up on the going ons while he made himself civil. Then he walked back to the couch and after a bit of rummaging found his toiletries.
"This is some footage taken last night of the brutal battle that erupted between a group of trainers and the nefarious Team Rocket in Slateport city." The news lady was saying, catching Venerax's attention as he moved towards the bathroom. He watched the replay of the battle on the tv. It was a group of kids facing off with Team Rocket. Most of them he didn't recognize. Then . . . Hey, its that nutty girl from Pewter. Geeze, she does know how to get into trouble. He shook his head. Maybe I should see if she's alright.
He pulled out his pokenave to do just that. But the device was dead.
"Damn," He muttered moving to plug it in. Weeks without a recharge, calling her will have to wait for the morning.
The footage of the battle ended and the new woman was back. "We are still working out the full details of the events as they occured at the moment, and the identities of the youth's that fought the nefarious crime organization are still not all known. We will update on it more as we gain it. In other news, the Breeder's Gala is tonight in Lily Cove and its going to be a who's who of poke-personalties . . ."
Venerax moved into the washroom as the news moved on.
Flicking on the light, he cringed at the sight of himself. He clothing was in utter disrepair stained with grass, mud, dust, and torn in several places. His hair was a tangled mess and the start of beard covered his jaw line.
"A few days shy of being a wild man," He said to himself wryly. "I've got some work before I'll be in shape for polite company. No wonder labrat thought I was out of touch."

He stripped off his worn clothing tossing them to one corner of the bathroom. He started up the shower. Steam began to fill the room. [fanservice] He did not hesitate to get in and be consumed by the hot waters. It was much welcomed change to the cold streams and ponds that had been his only fair for bathing the past weeks. He revelled in the luxary of it with new appreciation, letting it just flow over him for several minutes. Finally he got down to business scrubbing every inch of himself clean. Washing out his hair with the shampoo that was there. It smelled of mint and tangerine. As he rinsed it he could feel the wait of it hanging just above his shoulders and knew he would have to trim it.[/fanservice]
With much regret he stepped out from the hot water finally, turning the shower off. Wrapping himself in the soft towel that was there, he moved through the steam shrouded bathroom back to the mirror. He wiped the condensation from it and looked himself over. He was starting to look better, but his hair needed to be shortened and the wanna-be beard had to go.
Rummaging through his toiletries he pulled out a small pair of scissors and a comb. He combed the tangles out first, a annoying reminder of why he should never let it get long again. Then carefully trimmed it up to something more manageable.
He then pulled out a straight raiser out of the bag. It had a stylized arbok on its handle, he had won it from another gambler while he was in Pewter. Then he pulled out some shaving soap and lathered up his face. With careful strokes he cleared away the coarse briar that had grown on his face.
He rinsed the razor and his face. Looking back in the mirror, the wild man was gone. He smirked just a bit, the sly gambler smirked back at him.

Venerax cleaned up the bathroom before heading back out into the room, still in the towel. He wasn't interested in putted his raggedy clothing back on yet. He sprawled out on the couch to watch the news. The weatherman was describing the weather for the coming week.
When he was finished, the news lady was back. "The Pokemon Pincher is still on the loose. Yesterday the notorious Team Rocket burgler made a miraculous escape from the Vermilion jail late in the evening. His whereabouts are unknown. The police asking anyone that has any leads to contact them immediately. They also provided us with this picture of the escaped convict." The picture of a young man's mug shot displayed. "If you see this man do not confront him. He is to be considered dangerous."
"Seems Team Rocket has been busy while I was getting in touch with nature," Venerax was familiar with Team Rocket. Every gambler worth his coins knew the Rockets had their fingers in the Game Corner. Maybe I should go back to Celadon before booting it back to Pewter. See if there's anything interesting stirring up there. Though he still need to face off with the Pewter Gym leader to gain full functionality of his hidden machine. Well there was no rush right now. His decision could at least wait till the morning.
With that final thought, he used the remote to turn the tv off as he moved to turn out the light. With a grateful sigh he slid under the covers of the bed. And let sleep take him away.
