Futzing around in the "Try Your Luck" option of alchemizing in DQ9, I have discovered Transparent Tights, which appear as simply unequipping any pants (but have a pretty high defense boost).
My character now apparently wears a glittering sequined golden tux and a pair of underwear. Best getup ever. xd
Unfortunately, I have yet to find anything that lets me go shirtless, as the default torso unequip is a tank top. Ah, well, this is pretty great too. xd
