Bah. If they were real guard there'd be something like a tank for every five guardsmen. Something slightly ridiculous like that.

The Marauder Destroyer is a neat ground attack plane, just be sure to tank it up to the wingtips with hellstrike missiles and spare bombs. I still personally have a soft spot for the regular Marauder, the 40k equivalent of the Lancaster heart and it can carry two of those napalm bombs, I want to drop those now that I've finally seen the size of the template it uses.

The lines are now open for donations to the "Help Winnie Get A Marauder Fund" sweatdrop

I'd love to help you, but I'm thoroughly strapped for cash at the moment. That and my forces need bolstering before I start donating around to others.

It's okay, I'm going to heavily imply me wanting one for the rest of the year at my rich friend in the hope that Christmas might bring me something big from Lenton. surprised

Hehe, by the time I need to buy anything, I'll have the money. ^^; Right now, I still have plenty to work on.

Actually, that's not true. Most companies in the imperial guard had very limited armored support. I always saw WH40K as a company-sized conflict, or slightly more. But when you look at the pictures and compare guard to tanks, there is maybe one tank for every 30 or 40 guardsmen. If that. They aren't quite as common as they appear in the game.

The fluff agrees with the pictures, even, with most companies having a chimera, and POSSIBLY a demolisher, but otherwise, being without their own armored support.

Note the "something slightly ridiculous like that" part of my quote. I was making a crack at hyper mobile guard. I know that the numbers are restricted back, Alexi. I've been playing for nigh on two years with most of that time spent on guard. At most in 1000 points I've squeezed in 6 tanks, though, with no more than 16 troop models.

My guess is you didn't win that game. I field almost entirely infantry, and I find that it works a lot better. When my tanks hit the battle hard, they're always surrounded by huge groups of fleshbags, and that's about the only thing keeping those big guns blazing.

Of course, it tears a pretty hole in the center of any army when it happens, so I'm not really complaining about what works best for me. I rather enjoy seeing it all go off like clockwork.

That list was written for Adepticon. My guard were serving as mobile fire support for three different marine armies, only one of which would be playing with me at a given time. You assume too much about me, Alexi. My Chimera were kept in close proximity to foot slog Space Marines while my Leman Russ would run flank with either Predators or Dreads, and my Hellhound went with the Speeders/Assault Marines for swarm breaking. It worked damned nicely about 70% of the time. I only really suffered crushing defeats when paired with the most inept player on our team.

Actually, I went on vacation.

...though I'm curious. A newbie? Do I really count as such? Perhaps it's my clothing? I'm not sure. In any case, it may be that you speak a little too soon yourself.

No, my assumptions were made with a 1v1 match in mind. I do not believe you would have won without the marine support, but your army was obviously supported. Therefor, a chance at victory. By the way you talk, you seem to have succeeded.

But really. Newbie? I've been here a whole year longer than my good man Caliedah. It doesn't matter, but still. Seems to me that's an odd name to throw around, isn't it?

Edit: Perhaps this is a bit more suitable for your tastes?
