Sam awoke in a Pokemon Center. After Orion had used the Escape Rope, he had helped Sam to a couch where she promptly fell asleep. She sat up stretching. She looked around for Orion, and saw him using the videophone again. She stumbled over, brushing her hair out of her face.

"What's up?" she said tiredly. Orion looked over. The man on the screen wasn't familiar to Sam.

"Nothing. I'm asking the man I left my Staravia with to send him here. You have a Train Ticket right?" Sam paused and took it out. He took it from her. He smiled a mischevious grin. "Perfecto." A small pokeball popped out from the slot, and Orion took it. He released the Staravia, which cawed, and flitted around his head. He took Sam's wrist, and laughed. "Come on we have to hurry! It's tonight!" Sam, utterly bewildered, didn't move.

"Um..wha? What's tonight?"

"Why the Breeder's Gala! It's in Lilycove! We have to get to Hoenn soon if we hope to make it on time." Sam shook her head.

"I'm sorry, but what world do you live in? I've never been anywhere besides Cianwood, and here. I can't get there, I'd have to walk." He winked.

"And that is why I got my Staravia! She'll fly us to Saffron, we'll take the train to Slateport, and then she can fly us to Lilycove. See, I'm an explorer. I hope to travel to every city, and meet all the pokemon. I really only have less then half of the Sinnoh Region to go." Sam raised an eyebrow.

"You must be rich to afford all those tickets." He shrugged.

"I'm a good battler too, so that's how I make my money." Sam rolled her eyes.

"Okay fine, we'll play along with this crazy plan. Why are we going to this Gala anyways?"

"Uh because it's fun? And I hear they have really special pokemon there, some I may not have in my dex yet! Plus it's all fancy-shmancy which would be neat." He was very bubbly, and Sam couldn't help but get into the excitement.

"Well then let's go" They walked outside, and he set the sling on it's legs. "Hey but there is two of us now! We can't both fit in the sling" He gave her a sly look.

"That's why your going to be on his back." Sam's eyes widened.

"No way, no way in hell, I am not doing this!" As she turned to leave, he grabbed her arm.

"Oh don't be a wuss. I already have an extra ticket to the event, and it would be alot more fun if I had a date," putting air quotes around the word,"to come with me. Besides, it's not THAT long of a flight." Sam twitched, greatly desiring her medication. Then she twitched more at the desire. Did this mean that she was addicted to the meds? Crap, was she going to go through withdrawals? She felt hands around her waist, and on instinct thrust her elbows back. Coming out of her reverie, she realized Orion had tried to help her up, and she just elbowed his nose. He held it, eyes closed and a pained look on his face. She pulled his hands away.

"Oh my god, I am so so so sorry! But...at least there's no blood right?" she said weakly. He got a look on his face that said just-don't-talk-to-me-right-now, and clambered into the sling. He tapped the bird's legs, and they lifted off, a little wobbly at first, but soon steadied, and heading towards skyscrapers on the horizon.

"Hmm, a Hoppip.." Misty mumbled to herself, thinking of a quick strategy. That's just how she did it, after all. Never did she have strategies ready for different Pokemon types before battles, but she thought of them as the battle wore on. A grass type might be a problem, but at least Horsea had the advantage of the pool!

"Uh-oh, Horsea, this might be a problem! Dodge any seeds that you see!" Horsea let out a shrill cry of agreement, and swam in zigzag motions like a Zigzagoon. He managed to dodge all of the seeds, but another problem was unfolding - the seeds stuck to any surface. Some seeds sank all the way down, covering the bottom of the pool like it was an underwater jungle. The vines crawled up the sides of the pool, foresting the bottom half of the sides as well. The seeds also stuck to the many floats scattered around the pool surface - even on Misty and Robin's floats. It was like an obstacle course for Horsea! Well, this should make things interesting, at least!

Misty snapped her fingers, and pointed at the pool. "Alright Horsea! You have to avoid all those vines, or they'll latch onto you and suck the life right out of you!" Her shouts were accompanied by matching hand movements. "Now, use Smokescreen to confuse Hoppip!" Horsea again let out a battle cry, releasing billows of smoke from his snout. Soon the smoke covered most of the battlefield, making it almost impossible to see the two battling Pokemon. Maybe Hoppip will fall into his own trap.. "Be careful, Horsea!"

The tall fire bird was proud and strong, and though using the same attack that she'd used only moments before against Medicham before evolving it was clear that this was not the same Flamethrower that Brawly was familiar with. No, evolving was definitely more than a simple cosmetic change as the flames barreling down at Hitmonchan were far hotter and more intense than anything that the opponent could have produced as a mere Combusken. And yet, neither Hitmonchan nor Brawly seemed very worried. Instead they both had a smile on their faces. "This could be troublesome Hitmonchan, I think we better do something. Lets counter that flame with a Fire Punch!" Hitmonchan cocked his fist back and dove at the intense Flamethrower, throwing a mighty punch forward with a twisting motion as an intense flaming aura burst from his gloved hand. The punch plowed into the fire causing Hitmonchan to wince slightly as the intense heat washed over him and the splitting flames licked his body. It was difficult, but with a burst of power Hitmonchan was able to release the fire from his fist to disburse the Blazekin's attack. "Not yet Jaeshan. You'll have to do better than that if you want my Knuckle Badge!"

About thirty sarcastic ways to respond to Sheridan's question went through Keegan's mind all at once, making it nearly impossible to select just one. Glancing at Sheena he decided to keep it PG13 and he smirked, looking back towards the violet-haired sister. "Naw, I'm just really into the shopping scene here," he remarked sarcastically. "I'm all about the changing trends in fashion." Not surprisingly, Sheena burst into a fit of high-pitched giggles.

Sheridan simply raised an eyebrow. "Of course you are," she retorted dully, obviously not amused by the redhead's statement. "Your fashion sense is truly..." she paused, taking a second to glance at his appearance, and she scoffed lightly. "Remarkable." She daintily tucked a stray lock of purple hair behind her ear, still quite appalled by what she saw. "Honestly Keegan, you're a wreck. What happened to you?" The somewhat caring tone in her voice caught him off guard and for a second he really didn't know what to say.

"Yeah Keegan, looks like you got beat up," Sheena piped up. "Did you get into a fight?"

Okay, they may have been wildly rich, but they obviously didn't watch the news. "Heh, yeah," Keegan said, deciding to forgo the violent details. "But you should see the other guy." He stopped when he saw Riza appear behind Sheridan and Sheena, and he smiled at her, though she appeared to be busy with her phone. "You know ladies, I'd love to stay and chitchat but I've got dinner plans," he said, pushing between the two sisters and linking his arm though Riza's. "I suppose I'll see you at the Gala later on?" he asked, looking to Sheridan.

Sheridan gave a curt nod. "Yes, and my sister will be there for a while as well." She took a moment to study the raven-haired girl and she smiled darkly. "Will this young lady be accompanying you this evening?" she asked sweetly, her suspicions confirmed when Keegan nodded. "Excellent, we'll see you both there then. But first..." She opened her overly-expensive purse and withdrew a Luxury Ball - complete with diamond studs - and released it's captive. "Blissey, be a dear and use your wonderful Softboiled on this young man, please." The round, pink Happiness Pokemon appeared in a flash, and she looked towards Keegan before raising her hands.

The white egg in her pouch started to shimmer with a warming light, and Keegan felt as though someone had immersed him in a warm bath. It lasted maybe ten, fifteen seconds and when it was over he felt oddly cold and he shivered - and was surprised to find that no pain accompanied it. Blinking a few times he looked down at his hands, turning them over a few times when he realized there were no cuts. He reached up and felt his face, smiling a bit when there was no tenderness, no swelling. Even the damage to his ribs had been reduced greatly, as they still hurt a bit if he moved the wrong way, but for the most part, he'd been healed. He looked over at Sheridan, confused. "Why'd you do that?" he asked.

Sheridan scoffed as she returned the large pink Pokemon to her Luxury Ball. "Because when I ask you to have one dance with me this evening - and you'll accept, of course, I don't want to be seen dancing with a barbarian. Ta ta." Nodding to her sister, the two started off, presumably to get themselves ready for this evening.

"I don't dance..." Keegan grumbled, crossing his arms. Why me?

Some time later, Miharu awoke with a start, surprised to find that the position of the sun had shifted by quite a bit since last she saw it. "Wait... where am I?" she asked quietly, pulling herself to a sitting position and looking around. She was right near the path where she and Sparkle had first strayed off when they heard that strange music. Panicking suddenly, she frantically searched around for the Flaaffy, sighing with relief when she saw the electric type snoozing lazily nearby. Miharu stood up and recalled the Flaaffy into her Pokeball, a little surprised to find she still had all her things with her, money included. The last thing she remembered was reaching a clearing in the woods, and there had been that boy and his strange Pokemon, playing a sad, sad song...

...had it been a dream? It must have been, seeing as she didn't remember anything else after that. Sighing, Miharu decided it best to continue to head towards Olivine City. She was fairly certain that the gym there would be far too tough for her to handle and she faintly remembered that she had intended to cross the water to get to Cianwood to confirm if whether or not there really was a gym there. "And if there is, then we'll make our next move," the small girl thought with confidence. Winning those last to badges had certainly helped her to feel better about herself. She set up her bike and got back on the route that would bring her closer to Olivine, deciding to keep a normal pace so she could enjoy the scenery as she rode along.

It was fairly quiet out, and Miharu didn't encounter anyone for quite some time. Though when she did see someone, she was surprised to find that they seemed to be fighting - with a Pokemon. Her curiosity getting the better of her, she hopped down from her bike and let it rest gently on the ground. The girl and her Pokemon, a Machop, as now Miharu could see it more clearly, were actually sparring with one another. That must be a great way to keep yourself and your Pokemon in great shape, she thought, sitting down on the grass to watch. Nearby she spotted a Houndour and a small, white and green Pokemon she'd never seen before, but for now she refrained from using her PokeDex. They look like they're having fun, too, she thought, resting her chin on her knees.

As Crenu sat there waiting for the train to arrive, he opened his phone to check how much time had past. At this rate he wouldn't arrive in Kanto until the morning of the next day. Though to be honest, it was a long trip all the way to Kanto and with the day half over any other E.T.A. simply wouldn't make sense. Regardless, he wouldn't be getting to Kanto any sooner as long as the train didn't arrive. He sighed deeply, exhaling a big cloud of smoke before leaning back with his cigarette in between his fingers.

Not to far away from where Crenu sat there was a young boy of about ten or eleven who was looking at the tall blond man with a smile on his face. He nearly tripped over himself as he ran up to him with a pokeball in his hand. "Um...um excuse me Mr.... I just wanna say thanks you for yesterday. I was able to get back Shades here." He said, referring the the pokemon inside the ball as he held it up for the blond guy to see with that big smile still on his face, blemished only by the space of a tooth that had fallen out recently.

Crenu lifted his head from it's back hanging position only long enough to look at the little kid before letting it fall back again. "You got the wrong guy kid. Beat it." Some of the ash fell from his burning cigarette and onto his fingers, but it didn't seem to bother him any.

A bit confused, the boy looked at him again, he was sure this was the guy he saw only yesterday. "Um..are you sure Mr.? I mean, I saw you and some girl bring back the stolen pokeballs, you guys gave them to Nurse Joy and we got them back right? Are you sure that wasn't you Mr.? I'm sure it was and I wanted to thank you." The boy had an almost desperate look on his face as he reached into his pocket, but it soon turned to a smile as he held his hand out. "I wanted to share my candy with you Mr. for saving Shade, he's the only pokemon I got you know. You like candy right Mr.?"

"No." Replied Crenu, sitting up and leaning forward this time, his head still hanging as he was bent forward with his elbows on his knees. "I told you you got the wrong guy kid, now get lost." With that Crenu flicked the cigarette at the boy, the glowing red tip hitting his cheek before it bounced off.

"But-" The boy cried out before he was cut off by the hot tip of the cigarette hitting his face. It wasn't there long enough to cause a burn or anything, but it may as well have been as it got the message across clearly. He was right, this jerk couldn't have been the cool hero who'd saved his Shuppet from those guys with the red 'R's on their shirts! The boy dropped the candy and ran off crying as Crenu watched, to where he did not know nor did he care. Instead the tall blond simply put another cigarette to his mouth as he rummaged through his pockets.

"Oh man, dude what the hell was that?" She was awestruck by this behavior! Alex was sure that the boy was right, but how could this blond guy be the same savior from the day before? She couldn't believe it at all, and here she was hoping that this guy was as nice as that Jason boy she'd been hanging around until only yesterday. "That boy wanted to thank you, man he was even going to share his candy with you! Well, what have you got to say for yourself!?" She demanded as she came aroudn to face him.

Damn it, it just didn't end. Crenu looked up again at the second annoyance in less than a minuet, looking at a somewhat small girl who was probably no more than two years younger than him, maybe three. Whomever she was, she was standing there expecting an answer. "...Got a light?" He said calmly as he continued to ruffle through his empty pockets, at which point he searched his coat pockets and pulled out his small silver lighter, which he immediately used to light his cigarette. "Never mind."

"What, that's it!? 'Got a light?' is what you came up with? What, don't you even feel bad about hurting that kids feelings and making him cry!?" She was furious now, how could he be so cold? "I was watching you know, I saw the whole thing yesterday. You and that girl saved those pokeballs from being stolen by Team Rocket! Hell, I even saw when you took that attack for her and let that Ekans tear into your arm! That kid just wanted to thank his hero, why'd you cast him away like that!?"

Crenu simply shook his head at her first answer, feeling bad served no helpful purpose to him and could only cause weakness, therefor it was illogical to do so. Besides, he told the kid to buzz off earlier and he didn't listen, so it wasn't really his fault anyway. "Look kid, I don't recall saying I was a hero or asking for thanks. Returning the pokeballs was all that girl's doing, I would have left them there. I didn't fight those Rockets to help anyone or save some pokemon or any of that story book junk, I simply did it for the sake of battling and making my pokemon stronger. Anything else would simply be illogical, I don't trouble myself with the affairs of others."

"Hah, that's funny. You can talk all you want, but what about saving that girl from the Ekans? I can't really see the logic in that. Maybe you should just admit that you're not so bad tough guy. I bet you feel bad for that kid after all."

Crenu took a rather long drag from his cigarette and exhaled it at the girl, still calm in his voice and demeanor. "Taking that bite was simply a matter of priority. I'm a bigger stronger person than she was, there for I had a better chance of walking away from an attack like that than she did. She was also lost in her mind and defenseless, the only thing I hate more that the weak are cowards, attacking a defenseless target is as cowardly as it gets which is also a sign of great weakness. And finally, the Rockets targeted her and therefor underestimated me as a threat. That really pisses me off, I needed to show them just who they were dealing with. Now get lost or I'll show you just who you're dealing with." He said, lockign eyes with her for the first time in this entire conversation.

"Yeah right, you won't do a thing." Alex said confidently. He was about to reach for her pokeball, but she had seen this guy battle yesterday and knew her little Surskit was no match for his pokemon at all. But even still, she stood her ground. After all, she was sure this guy was all talk anyway. But when he locked eyes with her, Alex felt an unsettling chill race down her spine.

"A cigarette isn't going to scare you off I suppose. He said, standing up now and looking down at the girl even though she was a few feet ahead of him. "Hmm, I know." Crenu tapped his first pokeball and Pupitar took form in front of him, standing tall and to follow orders. "She's starting to bore me Pupitar, blow her away with a Sand Storm." He said casually, the calm and cold expression he'd worn the entire time still on his face as he gave the order and took another puff from his cigarette. Pupitar simply looked at her, sand beginning to revolve aroudn his body as it slowly picked up speed. Pupitar had formed it into the shape of a swirling funnel that was pointed at her, seconds away from launching the vortex at her when the train finally pulled in and a call for all passengers rang out. "Hmm, about time. I'm afraid I can't play with you anymore kid. Let's go Pupitar." Pupitar instantly dropped the attack, the sand falling to the floor where it scattered at girl's feet as Crenu recalled hi to his pokeball. He got on the train, never looking back at the girl or the town, no longer concerned with anything happening in Slateport or in Hoenn for that matter. Crenu took a seat by window and simply sat there, waiting as he felt the train start to pull out of the Slateport station and begin it's journey to Celedon.

Alex had remained firm until the very last moment when she was staring down the funnel of sand that was aimed directly at her. He wasn't joking, he was really going to take her out! This guy had totally lost it! Her knees began to shake as she looked on, saved by the train that had just pulled in and was apparently the one he'd been waiting for. He was a little surprised at how easily he dismissed the attack, she was sure that he would have used it on her had the train not pulled in on time. She only nodded instinctively when he spoke, not moving until he was actually on the train and out of sight. "Holy crapl, what the hell was that?"

Hunter’s nose picked up a fresh new scent and her eyes opened slightly she noticed another girl. The bike was down and Hunter’s eyes opened wider, last time a bike was down a fight broke out. Hunter made her own assessment and didn’t think this girl was a threat. She looked down at Jiro who was leaning against her body, finally having a chance to get the smaller pokemon back she stood up quickly. Jiro fell backwards over the action and rolled in the grass. Hunter barked to gain Tyra’s attention.

Tyra’s arm was twisted and against her back facing Hunter. To release Freya’s hold Tyra pushed one foot back and caught the machops foot with her own bringing them both to the ground. Rolling away from her pokemon Tyra stood up and clapped her hands once indicating the end to the sparring match. Tyra walked over to Hunter and knelt down and scratched the houndour’s ears. Jiro jumped on Tyra’s back throwing his hand out towards the other trainer.

Tyra turned her head slightly to see Freya pick up her leather jacket and their new comer. Remember Ty, Izzy and Karrigan told you be nice first don’t start nothing. Tyra gave herself a pep talk before giving a high five to Freya and retrieving her jacket. She didn’t put it on instead she held it and walked over the girl who had her chin on her knees. Well crap...what exactly is nice and not threatening? Tyra was never good at pleasantries or politeness. Now if you wanted a ‘thug’ or someone to appear threatening, she’d be the girl you called.

“Hello...uh...Freya and I didn’t disrupt you or anything did we?” Tyra questioned, as stupid as a question it was. After all when they started, no one was to be seen.

Tyra reached into her jacket pocket and removed a cloth and wiped her forehead. Freya had come up holding a water bottle.
Tyra thanked her sparring partner and opened it up to take a drink. Hunter guarded their stuff with Jiro planted on her back.

Riza had been in the middle of composing a new message to her older brother, more out of boredom than necessity, when Keegan's arm looped through hers, and she nearly dropped her phone, and she looked up at the two girls sheepishly. The one with the purple hair looked like she'd escaped right out of one of those fancy magazines but Riza decided to stay quiet. When the older sister released a Blissey, Riza quietly took out her pokedex to scan it. 'The happiness Pokemon,' she read to herself. 'This kindhearted Pokemon nurses sick Pokemon back to health. It can sense sadness in others. The eggs it lays are filled with happiness and nutrients. Just one bite is said to bring happiness.' Riza carefully closed the little device and put it back into her bag, watching with awe as the pink Pokemon used its incredible powers to heal Keegan. 'That's amazing,' she thought, amazed to find that all his injuries had healed substantially. However she frowned slightly at the mention of the dance, but again she didn't say anything. After all, they were only going as 'just friends' so why should it matter to her?

"What's with those two?" she asked finally, once the two sisters had gone away. Her stomach grumbled loudly, and she impatiently checked her watch. "And when are we gonna go for dinner anyway?"
* * * * *
When her shouts when unnoticed by both the Monferno and Staravia, Katie decided then that it was best to just let them fight. She knew that it wouldn't help matters, and that whichever of the two Pokemon lost would hold a grudge and it would start all over again. 'These two are gonna be the death of me,' she thought sadly, the egg now resting carefully bundled up in Katie's pajamas while she took a pair of scissors to the frumpy grey blanket. She looked up from her work in time to see Noa fly out of the way of an ember attack that had been launched by Genki, then dive bomb the playful Pokemon with a wing attack, which was also dodged. 'Am I going to have to feed them separately too?' she thought, carefully cutting along the faint lines she'd drawn with a fabric pen.

By now a few people were watching the two Pokemon fight, and most seemed to think the two were just involved in some form of intense training and had somehow missed that the two Pokemon were teeming with hostility towards each other.

It took only about ten minutes for the two Pokemon to exhaust themselves, though in the end, it seemed that Genki had won. Noa had tackled him recklessly in a last ditch effort to eke out a win, but Genki had finished it with a powerful thunderpunch. Noa lie twitching on the ground, though you could still see the look of anger on her face. Katie sighed and recalled her without looking at her, glancing once at Genki as he too keeled over from exhaustion. "I don't know what I'm going to do with you two," the girl muttered as she recalled the Monferno to his ball as well. At least now she could work on her egg holder....thing in peace.

They had been flying for only 5 minutes, when Sam started to slip off the birds back. There just wasn't any room! She noticed the Staravia was having trouble breathing, and they were losing altitude at an alarming rate. She could hear Orion encouraging the bird, but it was just too tired. It gave one last flap of it's wings, then glided as a last ditch effort to reach the town in front of her. It wasn't Saffron, but at least they had cleared Mt. Moon. The Staravia nearly divebombed into the ground, with Sam tumbling off, and Orion scratched by the bird's talons. They both stood up, wincing. Orion recalled the fallen Staravia, and quickly jogged into town, passing a sign that said, "Cerulean City"

"Oh good, I've been here before, I know where the pokemon center is." He jogged quickly, Sam struggling to keep up.

"Well, what are we going to do now? Your Staravia could barely carry us over Mt. Moon!"

"Have faith Sam! This isn't my only flying pokemon, just the one that's...well-behaved. I should have known I would have to use her though." Sam didn't like where this was going. As they crossed the threshhold, Orion made a beeline for the phones. Whoever he was calling, that man again, almost immediately picked up, and Orion chatted while placing the Staravia's ball in the slot below the phone. The man scowled at one point, and then sighed and produced a pokeball. He fed it into the slot on his end, and both were sent. Orion took the new pokeball, saluted the man, and ended the conversation. He walked back to Sam.

"Well? Come on, we don't have much time!"

"Who was that? What did he give you?"

"That was my dad. He's a pokemon trainer too. He's been trying to train Freesia for me, to make her well behaved, but he hasn't had much luck, which is why he's not happy about me taking her." They exited the pokemon center, and he threw the pokeball. A massive pokemon, probably longer then herself, emerged. It was all shades of green, and had red markings, and red insectoid eyes. It creeped her out. She took out her dex.

"Flygon. the Mystic Pokemon. It whips up sandstorms with powerful flaps of it's wings. It is known as the 'Desert Spirit'." Sam looked back at the Flygon. It was coming closer to her, it's nostrils flaring. It's eyes narrowed, and it growled.

"Freesia, no! She's a friend. Leave her alone." Freesia stood her ground. "Freesia, please, I need you to carry both of us to Saffron so we can make the train!" Freesia snorted derisively. She turned her back to Sam. Orion rolled his eyes.

"She doesn't like anyone that's not me. I caught her as a Trapinch, but left her at the daycare while I traveled the world. When I came back...I trained with her a little, and what do you know she evolves twice! Anyways, hop up on her back." Sam stared. "Don't worry she won't bite, and she is a lot stronger then my Staravia." Sam's confidence shrunk to miniscule size. She clambered onto the pokeman's back, Freesia snorting, and growling, but not bucking her off. Orion climbed on behind her. He put his arms around her waist. Sam blushed, and was glad Orion couldn't see it. "Freesia take us to Saffron." Freesia nodded. She lifted off, a lot more stable then the Staravia. It seemed effortless, such a stark contrast to the flight to Cerulean.

After an hour or so of flying, they lightly touched down in front of the train station in Saffron. Sam withdrew her ticket, and stared blankly at it. This was her ticket home, but her parent's wanted her to see the world...She felt a kick to the back her knees, and they buckled. She quickly got to her feet, and spun around. Freesia had swatted her with her tail, and was now snickering. Orion sighed, and recalled her.

"Sorry about that. Let's go check the train schedule. The Gala is tonight, but it is late. We've still got time enough to get there. Hmm....The next train to Slateport leaves in an hour, and will take...3 or 4 hours to get there? I'm not sure, I'm terrible at reading time. But in the meantime...this is a formal event." He winked again. "You need a dress, and I need a tux. So, let's go shopping!" They wandered around Saffron, until they finally found a formalwear store. It was even having a sale. Orion would have to rent his tux, but Sam got to keep her dress, although she wasn't sure where to put it. She would probably send it to her folks. As she browsed the dresses, one caught her eye. Blue did look good on her. She tried it on, and it fit perfectly. Sam giggled at the sight of herself in the mirror. The dress made her look like a little girl playing dress up. The dress went down to the floor, but not so much that she would trip on it. It started with dark blue satin at the top, and faded to a sky blue at the bottom. It had floral designs made of beads across the top. She brought it to the register, and the lady put it in a garment bag. As they left with their purchases, Orion leaned over, and whispered in her ear. "I'm sure you'll look just beautiful in that dress." Then he walked ahead, and bought his ticket. Sam took out her ticket, and they boarded the train.

"Last Call! Train from Saffron to Slateport, last call!" The train jerked forward, then started moving. The train was actually pretty fast. Sam was certain they would make it in time.

Unfortunately for Misty Robin wasn't that smart, the only reason she had wanted to use Leech Seed was because Brook had just learned it. "Wow Brook! I never knew Leech Seed got that big!" It normally didn't even when it hit the other pokemon. It was just the water that had accelerated its growth. Brook himself looked rather proud of himself to as he bounced over the water top his light body making travel pretty easy for him.

Just then the Horsea released its smokescreen and both Robin and Brook stared down with wide eyes at it. "What is this!?" Robin shouted as she looked down at the murky water. At her side Luffy put one of his purple arms into it and batted at it some. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with the water, only now it was really cloudy. "Hmm, well ok... Umm... Brook use Poison Powder on the top of the water? I dunno, that sounds like a good idea, no... wait that doesn't hmm... Oh I dunno we can't see it, just use a wide spreed Bullet Seed!"

Glancing back at his trainer Brook waited a second to see if she had made up her mind. When she didn't change it again the small pink pokemon took a high leap up into the air before letting out a huge bunch of seeds from his mouth and into the water. Maybe one would hit? Who knows.

"Pah your puny Heracross will be crushed into bug juice by my Poliwhirls fists!" Greg laughed from his side of the impromptu battle field. "All right Poliwhirl lets punch it!" The blue pokemon walked over to where Hera was standing and started to wind a fist up.

'Lets punch it?' Dante thought to himself, he could feel his eyebrow raise slightly at that. "Hera just step to the side." And that is exactly what the Heracross did. She stepped to the side just as a fist came down at where she had been standing before. " Use your Aerial Ace when you can Hera."

Looking back at Dante Hera gave him an annoyed look, was this all that she had been called out for? Well a battle was a battle and Hera would fight this like she was supposed to. Dodging another punch from the Poliwhirl she swung her horn low before swinging it upward in an arc of light blue.

"Woah! Are you cheating! Your Heracross's horn just turned blue!" Greg shouted from across the field.

"Ah here we go again." Maxine muttered in Dante's ear.

"You have got to be kidding me." Was all Dante said as he watched the large man walk over to them.

He glanced over at Kasiya one more time before looking at the battle. "It would be easier for Electabuzz to hit Weezing," he explained, "since Weezing has Levitate, your Ground-type moves won't be effective at all." It was a lesson that he was sure the girl already knew but a refresher could never hurt. Plus, it would eliminate the chance of her accidentally attacking the Weezing with something like Dig. "Let's get this started! Cable, use Thunderpunch!" The electric-type jumped back and clenched his fists, static electricity swarming around his knuckles. With a toothy smirk, the feline dashed forward and jumped into the air, landing on Weezing's larger head. "Eleeee..." he swung his fist back and as he brought forward, a magnificent amount of electricity exploded into his fist and it slammed directly into the center of the larger head. As the Poison-type faltered, Cable jumped off and did a few back handsprings back to Kilik's side, with incredible speed and finesse.

"Grrr...I'll show you!" Yaku groaned, stamping his feet into the ground. "Weezing, attack with Sludge Bomb! Show that Electabuzz that you're not to be messed with!" A look appeared on the Weezing's face - one that Kilik was quite familiar with. As the Pokemon appeared to look sick, Weezing began to projectile vomit his sludge right at Cable, a large ball of purple gunk flying through the air.

"And I guess, uhm, Muk..." Kuza sat down on the ground, "Just uhm...I dunno. The same thing." Unlike Weezing, Muk was capable of using Sludge Bomb with his own body. Taking one of his oozing hands, the creature scooped up a ball of his own mass and threw it towards Sandslash.

Kilik called for Electabuzz to move out of the way, but Cable would have none of that. The feline Pokemon stood his ground, his tail swishing about excitedly, as he swung another Thunderpunch straight through the Sludge Bomb. Sure, he took some damage from the splatter and he did feel like he was going to be ill, but otherwise, he was fine. Cable looked over his shoulder at Kilik and gave him a thumbs up.

"They're just... people I know," Keegan responded after a moment or two. He didn't want to call them 'friends', as he'd rather see Sheridan get set on fire, but at least Sheena was kind and caring, despite her hyper and clingy ways. "I traveled with the pink-haired girl, Sheena, for a while. She's... spirited, to say the least. Her sister, Sheridan, well, she's a whole 'nother story, one I can explain over dinner, if you want." He figured why not, after all it would beat having to come up with explanations all night as to why he was hiding from the violet-haired woman, which he had decided would be his plan for the evening. "As for dinner, let's get to it." His stomach grumbled loudly as well, and he grinned, rubbing it as though it would quell the angry beast within. He was still a little shocked that he could move without feeling any pain, and the first chance he got to look at his reflection in a window, he did, marveling at the fact that he no longer sported the look of someone who'd just gone ten rounds with a Machamp and lost horribly. Maybe Sheridan isn't so bad after all... he thought, flexing his muscles and beckoning for Riza to follow him. He felt nearly 100%, though his ribs did hurt slightly if he moved the wrong way.

They arrived at the small restaurant and Keegan led them inside, looking around for a place for them to sit. It wouldn't be that difficult, as the place was mostly empty. "Looks like we've got the place to ourselves," he said offhandedly, deciding to grab a booth. A waitress practically rushed to greet them, spouting off the daily specials as she handed them their menus. Though he was practically starving, nothing really appealed to his appetite. "Give us a bit," he told the eager girl a bit harshly. "But in the meantime I'll have a Coke." The waitress nodded, not needing to write that one down, and she looked to Riza next.

At first Miharu hadn't even realized the two had stopped their fight as she was a little busy trying to figure out what had happened back there in the woods. She could also feel the scrapes on her arms from where the twigs had got her, but they'd already stopped hurting and bleeding, and she had cleaned them up well enough, though she didn't really remember how she got them exactly. If anything she was quite annoyed that she didn't know what had happened to her. Losing time meant wasted time and she figured she could have been a lot closer to her destination by now.

She looked up as the tall girl approached her, studying her three Pokemon carefully before she answered. "No, you did nothing of the sort," she replied, hands still resting on her knees. She idly looked at the holes in her jeans, remembering how many times her father had asked her to throw them out. They were her favourite pair; how could she ever do such a thing? She looked back over at the Machop, impressed that a human could go toe-to-toe with a fighting Pokemon and not come out of it battered and bruised. "You guys train like that often?" she asked.

Kasiya waited until Kilik had looked away before she rolled her eyes at him. Who did he think she was, some rookie who didn't know anything? After all, she'd battled his Weezing only yesterday. She tried to focus on the battle which was now starting, watching as the Electabuzz delivered a rather nice Thunderpunch to the Weezing's head before deciding against dodging, instead opting to deflect the Sludge Bomb in his own way. Okay Cable, enough showing off, she thought, turning her gaze to the Muk as it proceeded to lob a handful of itself at Digger.

Kasiya smiled lightly. Unlike Cable, at least Digger resisted Poison-type attacks. The mouse Pokemon had already been on the defensive, now raising his claws and slashing at the ball of yuck as it came at him. He too was unable to avoid taking damage completely, but he'd managed to reduce it somewhat with his actions, as well as stave off being poisoned. "Now give that Muk a taste of your Sand Tomb, Digger!" she commanded. There was no way she was gonna let herself get shown up by these two. The Sandslash growled and slashed the air, a chill wind blowing slightly before a vortex of sand formed around the ground where the Muk sat. Kasiya knew this attack was definitely not the most powerful of moves, but it would slow the Muk down even further, and possibly make it harder for it to attack.

Jaeshan could only watch with a grin as the Hitmonchan used a clever Fire Punch to deflect Blaziken's Flamethrower. He raised an eyebrow and looked over at Brawly as he called out to him. "Works for me, Brawly," he shouted back. "Wouldn't want it to be that easy!"

"Blaze!" roared Blaziken in agreement, her wrists once again becoming enveloped in flames. Though she was thrilled to be helping Jaeshan win his next badge, in truth she was really doing this for herself. She'd pushed herself quite hard in order to reach her final evolution stage, and now she needed to push herself even harder to be the strongest she could be.

"All right Blaziken, let's show them your Rock Slide," Jaeshan called out. Sure, it wouldn't be very effective against a Fighting-type, but at the very least it could possibly cause some minor damage and leave an opening for Blaziken to get in there and attack. He always had Shelgon waiting in the wings in case Blaziken couldn't finish the fight. Blaziken growled sharply and thrust her clawed hands into the ground, heaving with all her might as she proceeded to tear up a large chunk of rock which she then tossed up into the air. With a grunt she leaped up and smashed it with her foot, causing the boulder to break apart into many pieces that then rained down over the battlefield.

How many hours had it been? Crenu couldn't say for sure since he hadn't really been paying attention to the clock. He merely sat there staring out of the window with the scenery passing him by. They had been out of Slateport for a while now, traveling inland it seemed but the coast was never out of sight for long. As he sat there trying to keep his mind blank of the endless thoughts that plagued him he came to a rather pointless idea, but one that he would entertain for a while. Grabbing one of the pokeballs from his belt he tossed it up and down a few times before pressing the all purpose button on the front, causing it to expand in size and dump out it's contents on to his lap. The small Snow Hat pokemon opened her eyes, looking aroudn in a bit of a daze as she tried to make out the things aroudn her. Her mind starting to clear she was completely taken by surprise when the felt the hand of her trainer rest upon her head, somewhat gently petting the tip of the cone as he blankly stared out of the train's window. This seemed like extremely odd behavior coming from Crenu, but Snorunt did not question it and instead got comfortable and decided to take her chances by nestling into his abdomen. Crenu didn't mind though, she was still a young pokemon and it was only natural for younglings to act in such ways. But when she got a bit older he wouldn't condone this behavior. Even still, Crenu didn't really mind the idea of showing his pokemon, or pokemon in general, the kind of attention that he denied people. For in his mind, they were the only things that eh really liked in a way, mostly because pokemon were organized creatures that behaved in logical ways most of the time. Pokemon did what they needed to do in order to survive in the wild and that was it, they didn't overcomplicated things like people did or even cause problems, they simply did what was natural and made the most sense. In his eyes, pokemon were far more reliable than humans were, they understood the importance of true strength and it's roll in survival. As things were starting to look, pokemon seemed to be the only beings he felt a kinship towards, this Snorunt in particular, but his track record wasn't exactly spotless so maybe that would have to stop soon. But unclouding his mind with useless things that had nothing to do with proper logic seemed to be working out for him so far, so keeping a bit of what might be considered humanity to a fondness for pokemon would be alright for now. Crenu turned his attention back to his lap where Snorunt had apparently fallen asleep again, and as Crenu stared out at the quickly passing nothingness that was the scenery he decided that she had the right idea and nodded off as well. Several more hours would pass before he opened his eyes again to complete darkness, it was to dark to make anything out but the eerie glow of his phone told him that it was past midnight.

"Rock Slide, aren't we versatile!" Brawly looked on as the Blazekin tore a chunk of earth from his gym and pulverized it, creating a rain of stones to fall upon Hitmonchan. To be honest, this one was a little hairier than the Flamethrower, he wasn't so sure that it would be as easy to dodge counter it. But Hitmonchan didn't seem all that worried, which just put a grin on Brawly's face. "Alright buddy, the best defense if a great offense! Let's turn these rocks to dust with Comet Punch!" Hitmonchan nodded, planting his feet as his fists clenched tightly, the blood rushing to his arms as he began to furiously punch at the falling stones with blinding speed that crushed every stone he touched into pebbles. Even with those successive punches Hitmonchan couldn't get all of them and felt a sharp sting from the few that got threw, nothing he couldn't shrug off though. "Heh heh, this is serious fun dude."

Tyra did a half smile as she looked down at the torn jeans. They reminded her of her own favourite pair. Granted they had been shot out by Dallas’ mother when she bought Tyra a new pair of jeans. Tyra pocketed her hands and wished there was something to lean on.

“We try for once a day. Mostly depends on Freya and how much she can hold back.” Tyra responded. She looked back and Hunter was still standing guard over their items. What amused the trainer more was that Jiro was comfortably on Hunter’s back, and they almost appeared like an old sentry on duty.

Tyra took another drink from the water bottle, nothing was better after a sparring match than something cool. She replaced the cloth she had taken out and pulled out her pokeballs. She recalled Freya and Jiro, mentally hoping that the little raltz would stay for a bit. Hunter stayed where she was but sat down at her spot. Tyra’s eyes returned to the girl, and actually noticed the scrapes on this girls arm. They didn't look too bad, obviously cleaned up but not bad. Tyra made a mental note not to comment on them, growing up hating having had comments on her injuries she kept her mouth shut but tucked the thought in the back of her mind.

The sun was still beating down and Tyra refused to remove her shades. She hadn’t looked in the mirror to see how much the bruising or swelling had gone down, but she could still feel them. The tender area around her eyes was a constant reminder to be nice. She didn’t want to get a phone call from Isabelle stating she had gotten into trouble all over again. This confused Tyra, she never used to care if she had caused irritation is someone but Isabelle changed that. Her second ‘friend’ had stirred new emotions and feelings, after being sure of who she was and how to go through life, it got turned upside down. What do I do now? I answered question...do I just say see ya?...no wait for a response...hey you dolt introduce yourself! Tyra’s thoughts were erratic but she did smile as she pulled out one hand and put it out to the girl on the ground.

“Name’s Tyra.”

"You cheated! Just like all of those other trainers who don't know how to really battle!" Greg shouted into Dante's face all the while jabbing a meaty finger at his chest.

'Cheated?' Hera thought in outrage as she stared at the large man threatening her trainer. 'How dare he even think of accusing her charge of cheating! He had done nothing of the sort!' The outraged Heracross let out a loud huff before she pushed her way over between the two her large horn pointing dangerously at the huge man.

Dante couldn't help but feel a bit safer with Hera now between him and the large man. "Look sir, I wasn't cheating, Heracross learns the move called Aerial Ace. All I did was tell her to use the move. You could have had your Poliwhirl use Bubblebeam or some other move but you didn't."

"Bubblebeam? I don't know what kind of nonsense you are spouting on about now boy but I don't like it. And call your bug off of me or I swear I won't be held responsible for what happens to it."

"You really don't know do you?" Dante sighed. Inwardly he wondered how this man had even gotten some of his pokemon to evolve if he didn't even know basic things such as pokemons special moves. "Ok ok, look all pokemon have special moves they can use, not just punching or kicking." Dante calmly explained. Reaching into his bag he pulled out his new pokedex. Flipping it open he moved closer to the large man so that he could see over his shoulder. Pointing the device at the Poliwhirl he let it scan the pokemon in before all of its information was brought up on the small screen. "See, these are the moves your Poliwhirl knows."

The large man stared down at the screen in disbelief for a few seconds. Finally he looked over at his Poliwhirl and then back at the small machine, then back over to Dante. "Are you sure that Poliwhirl can do all these things?" He asked scratching his head.

With the Greg not threatening to beat him up Dante felt a bit more at ease. He nodded and quickly ran a hand through auburn locks in a sort of nervous gesture. "Yeah you can try it out. Just pick one of them and tell your Poliwhirl to do it. I can't believe that no one has ever told you about this before." Dante muttered, it was really just hard to believe. If Dante didn't know better he would say it was as if someone had gotten to lazy to make him finish the battle.

"Hmm ok but don't laugh at me if it doesn't work." Greg muttered. "All right Poliwhirl lets use your Bubble attack." He ordered. The water and fighting type pokemon jumped into action and with a few punches a bunch of bubbles appeared in the air from his hands. "Wow you really can do that!" Greg was laughing now and since he was in such a good mood he slapped Dante hard on the back nearly bowling the smaller boy over. "Thank you for helping me discover this new magic!"

Giving the man a hard look for a moment Dante straightened himself up and bushed imaginary dirt off of his jacket. "Yeah no problem. Why don't you go have some fun now?" He muttered.

"That I will!" Greg laughed before slapping Dante hard on the back again before walking off with his Poliwhirl most likely to start really training now. Behind him Maxine chased after him and Dante couldn't be happier to see her go to.

"Thanks for your help there Hera." He offered a small smile to the Heracross who just nodded and put herself back into the pokeball. "Now lets see if I can't find that Gala."
