"Oh you'll dance with me," Riza promised, simply waving as the redhead took off. "I can promise you that." Not really wanting to go off into the restaurant just yet she lingered outside for a few moments before letting Sneasel out of her poke ball. The sharp claw Pokemon stretched and looked up at Riza, grinning. It was nice to stretch her arms out after being cooped up for the better part of the day and she was a little disappointed to find that she hadn't been sent out into battle. "I guess all we can do now is wait," Riza mumbled idly, closing her eyes as she leaned back against a tree. Sneasel looked around anxiously for a moment before doing the same, sharing her trainer's boredom.
"Hey, you with the Sneasel!" called a voice from nearby, maybe ten or so minutes later. Riza looked up to see a girl wearing red sport pants as well as a red tank top. She had dark hair like Riza did but it was pulled back into a ponytail at the nape of her neck. "You're a trainer, right?"
Riza raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, I am. What's it to you?" she asked, though she was already sure she could guess what was gonna happen next.
"Wanna battle?" the girl asked, holding up a red and white Pokeball for Riza to see. "Your Sneasel against my Houndour!" Her grin was broad and somewhat overconfident. Riza didn't like her already.
"A Houndour you say?" Riza scoffed, looking down at Sneasel. Her brother had a young Houndour pup at one point but she didn't know what had become of it, though there was one thing she did know for certain. "I don't think so. Houndour is a fire-type and Sneasel is an ice-type. I'm not jumping into a battle with you when you have a clear cut advantage right from the start, how stupid do you think I am?" she asked, her tone acidic.
The girl looked as though Riza had just sucker punched her in the gut. "Sneasel is an ice-type? Really? I thought it was just a dark-type. I thought a battle between dark-types would be sweet. I'm sorry," she said, her attitude and tone totally catching Riza off guard. "I didn't mean to sound like a jerk or anything."
"You didn't know? Really?" Riza asked, but then forced a weak smile. In all honesty she did want to battle this girl, but both Sneasel and Kirlia would be at a disadvantage against the girl's Houndour. "Okay, I don't want to sound like a hypocrite, but I did catch a Corphish this morning, but I've not battled with her yet and she's nowhere near as tough as my other Pokemon. Maybe your Houndour could face off against my Corphish? I'm sure the level difference would make up for the type match up."
The girl contemplated this for a moment, and then smiled. "Okay, sure. Why not? Plus, practice and training is the best way to overcome a weakness! You're on! By the way, my name's Angela," she added as she released her Houndour from its poke ball.
Riza pushed herself up to a standing position. "Riza. This ought to be fun," she said as she sent out Corphish. The crab appeared in a flash of light, waving her pincers around anxiously. Finally, battle time! She took position in front of Riza, very eager to begin.
((*wonders if maybe she should make her font size 10 instead of 9? Would it be easier for everyone to read? o=))

"Since you're at the disadvantage, you take the first attack," Riza offered. It seemed like the right thing to do seeing as she'd set the conditions for battle. However, she didn't see it when Corphish shot her an annoyed glare. Giving up the first attack? What a dumb thing to do! The crab snapped her pincers angrily, daring the Houndour to come at her. The canine growled and bared its teeth, easily accepting Corphish's challenge.
"Thanks, don't mind if we do," Angela replied, looking to her Houndour. "Okay, start off with bite attack!" she shouted. The pup began to snarl as it dashed forward, intent on sinking its teeth into some shellfish.
"Quick Corphish, use harden!" Riza shouted, hoping Corphish could strengthen her defenses before the Houndour's teeth found her. Corphish narrowed her eyes. Harden? Such a boring command....however, when she saw those glistening teeth, she began to realized it wasn't such a bad idea after all. Corphish brought her claws together and held them close as she focused her energy into strengthening the hardness of her shell. The Houndour drew closer and lunged at the crab Pokemon, ensnaring one of her pincer's tightly in its jaws. The previous harden prevented the teeth from actually piercing Corphish's shell, but she could still feel the pressure bearing down on her arm. Even still, Corphish refused to cry out. "Try to shake 'em off with a leer!" Riza called, not sure it was the best thing to do or not, but it was something. Corphish narrowed her eyes again, deciding to pretend that she didn't hear the command.
"Keep biting!" Angela yelled. "Keep biting and we'll crack that Corphish's shell!" A deep growl emanated from the houndour's throat and it clamped down even tighter. Corphish ignored the pain and brought her free claw around, opening it wide before she unleashed a barrage of bubbles directly into the Houndour's face. The unexpected blast caused the houndour to let go of its prey and it jumped back, shaking the water from its bristling fur.
"Corphish! That's not what I told you to do!" Riza shouted angrily. "I asked for a leer, not a bubble!" Corphish didn't appear to care that her trainer was angry at her for disobeying orders, and instead she raised her claw again and shot another blast of bubbles at the pooch.

Kilik felt sort of bad for bringing up the subject of Mike. He bit his lip then looked over at her. "Say, why don't we..." he searched for something to do. "Go for a walk, huh?" he stood up and headed out the door with Cable walking next to him. It was a really nice afternoon and he would hate the idea of spending it all inside the Pokemon Center. This was his last day in Hoenn, as well, for quite some time. Part of him wished he had made quick trips to Johto and Kanto to get a good look at those regions right before he left for the mysterious and new Sinnoh Region. Lilycove was starting to grow on him as well, after being here for two days.
"HEY!" a boy called out, "You're that Kilik punk!" he was dressed up like a ninja. "Remember me?" He pounded his chest with his small fist. "Yaku!"
"Oh right!" Kilik laughed, "Mike and I trounced you and your brother." He crossed his arms over his chest, "It's good to see you. Did you go train with Koga like we told you?"
"Kooooga was too faaar..." the sleepy brother said. He was always very tired - not much for being a ninja. "Mommy wouldn't let us gooooo..." He yawned loudly and placed a hand on his stomach. "Yaku, I'm hungry..." "Not right now, Kuza!" he snapped, "We'll battle Kilik and this new friend of his then we'll eat!" He pointed at the blond girl. "How about it, lady? You and Kilik versus me and my brother! We're a lot stronger than you'll remember, Kilik!"
"Uh-huh..." the boy stretched and looked over at Cable. "We beat them once and we'll do it again. Get in there, buddy!" The Electabuzz jumped into battle, ready to go. Finally, he could unleash all this pent up energy! Those kids were going to be ever so sorry that they challenged Kilik to a match today! His body shivered with excitement.
"Let's go, Weezing!" he tossed a Pokeball into the air. The purple gas Pokemon popped out with a lazy look on his face, but when he looked at Electabuzz, his eyes narrowed and he became very very serious. Almost to a point of aggression. "And I guess I'll uuuuse Muk..." he tossed a ball lazily out into the battle, yawning loudly. The Poison-type Pokemon oozed everywhere, killing the grass beneath him almost instantly.
Kilik gulped. He was fighting another Weezing and this one didn't look to friendly or stupid. His fingers traced over the ball that contained his own Weezing and he bit his lip. He felt bad for not using him in quite some time, but that's the way the cookie crumbled. And he loves crumbly cookies... Kilik laughed then looked at Kasiya. "Ready?"

Keegan hadn't gotten one foot out of the doors of the Pokemon Center when he heard a sickeningly sweet, nauseating voice call out his name. A feeling of extreme annoyance and loathing quickly crept through his body, and at first he did everything in his power to ignore it. Not her, not now, please, I'll do anything... he prayed silently, though to no avail.
"Kee-gan! Wait up, I know you heard me," the relentless voice called out in a singsong tone, giggling when she saw her redheaded quarry cringe. "Aww come ON! Is that anyway to greet your old friend Sheena?"
Ah, yes. The one and only Sheena Naokumi. The craziest, bubbliest, perkiest, and clingiest girl he'd ever met. Keegan sighed and turned slowly, trying very hard to look as though he was glad to see her. "Ehehe... Sheena," he said, his tone filled with forced enthusiasm. "How's it going? What brings you here?" Even her bubblegum-pink pigtails seemed to be extra chipper and bouncy today. Keegan could feel the cavities forming in his teeth just by looking at her. Another thought formed in his mind then, but he refused to say it aloud. If Sheena was here, then that probably meant that her older and much-less hyper sister Sheridan was here as well. Keegan heard a light meowing sound and he looked down to see Sheena's prissy Delcatty, Fluffy, nuzzling his leg.
"Oh Keegan, you're so funny," Sheena giggled. "I live here, silly, duh! Why else would I be here?" Her Delcatty's meow echoed her laughter, and Keegan was sure yet another part of him had just died.
"I see you decided to fulfill your promise," came another voice, this one cool, calm, and velvety. As predicted, Sheena's violet-haired sister, Sheridan was now there as well, and dressed to the letter, as usual. "Or is it just coincidence that you'd be here, on this night of all nights?" ===== That is both the saddest and beautiful thing I've ever heard, Miharu thought, feeling a pang shoot through her chest as she and Miharu continued to listen to the haunting music coming from the boy and his strange Pokemon. Sparkle's ears were twitching slightly as she too was listening intently. Deciding to get a little closer, Miharu took a step forward, completely forgetting to try and be stealthy about it as she did so, and with a very loud and out of place snapping sound, a twig cracked beneath her foot. "Uh oh," she muttered, looking up as the music stopped almost instantly.
"Flaaffy flaa," Sparkle said disapprovingly, looking up in time to see the boy and the strange Pokemon looking at the two of them in surprise. The Pokemon seemed to be quite indifferent about the whole thing, but the boy's expression quickly flickered from shock to outrage.
"How rude," he said, quickly placing his violin safely into a case and closing it before he stood up and pointed at the interlopers. "Kricketune, if you wouldn't mind, please give them a taste of your Sing attack." The red and black bug nodded before it took a few steps forward, once again pulling it's knife-like arms across it's chest. This time, a different type of melody drifted up from the Pokemon - one that wasn't sad or haunting, but a calm, soothing lullaby.
"No, not sing..." Miharu mumbled, trying to move forward as a sudden drowsiness overtook her. Her footsteps became sluggish and clumsy and after only a few feet she tripped over seemingly nothing and crashed to the ground, fast asleep. Sparkle didn't make it much further than her trainer did, as soon she too was on the ground, sleeping soundly.

"A walk sounds great," Kasiya nodded quickly, quite glad that Kilik had decided to drop the whole Mike subject right then and there. It was too painful for either of them to talk about their good friend right now, and Kasiya silently wondered what kind of effect all this would have on the rapidly-growing rivalry between Kilik and Mike. "Just let me get my Pokemon." She practically jumped up off the couch and ran over to the front desk, just in time for the nurse to place the tray of six fully-healed Pokemon on the desk in front of her. Kasiya thanked her and hurriedly clicked each sphere into their proper places before she jogged back towards the front door where Kilik and Cable had gone. It wasn't difficult to find the two, as both were clad in yellow and black and stood out quite easily; Kilik especially due to the fact that he was so tall.
They really hadn't gone far at all before the strange, ninja-clad boy and his brother jumped out at them. Kasiya listened to the exchange with an amused grin. It seemed Kilik knew the two of them, as they'd battled against him, and Mike apparently, before. Kasiya glanced over at the energetic Cable, a surge of excitement passing through her as now she'd get to see the recently-evolved Electric-type in action. "Sure, sounds good to me," she nodded, her fingers dancing along the row of Pokeballs on her belt as their two opponents sent out a Weezing followed by a Muk. Kasiya frowned. Poison-types? Hmm, guess I won't be sending Rosemary out for this one, she thought, finally choosing a Pokeball. "All right Digger, it's showtime!" she called, releasing the Mouse Pokemon onto the battlefield. The Sandslash arched his back and flexed his claws, looking quite eager to battle, which was no real surprise to Kasiya. The girl looked over at Kilik and grinned. "I'm ready."
=-=-=-=-= "...whoa," was all Jaeshan managed to utter after his mind was fully able to register what had just happened. Blaziken glanced over her shoulder and grinned slightly before she turned back towards Brawly, awaiting their next and final opponent. Jaeshan quickly shook himself out of his daze and looked towards the Gym Leader as well, more elated about the fact that Combusken had finally evolved into Blaziken than the fact that another gym badge was within his grasp. He didn't flinch at the sight of Brawly's Hitmonchan, and instead stood tall, slightly amused to see that Blaziken actually stood an inch or so taller than he did, and he wasn't a short guy, either.
"Let's wrap this up, Blaziken!" Jaeshan called, more proud of the Fire/Fighting-type Pokemon right now than he ever had been in the time he'd known her. She'd finally made it to her last stage, but he knew that she was only really beginning to see her full potential as of now. "Give 'em a Flamethrower!" he shouted.
Flames erupted from her wrists on either side of her body as well as an intense heat wave, and a slight roar escaped the Blaze Pokemon's throat before she loosed a powerful jet of fire at the Punching Pokemon.

'What is she doing?! Why won't she listen?' Riza thought angrily, watching as Angela's houndour avoided most of the bubbles, being hit by only a stray few in the end. 'She's losing massive points for this!' Sneasel just watched from the sidelines, shaking her head. She'd never disobey Riza's orders like that. Okay, maybe she would, but not like that.
"Your Corphish isn't very obedient," Angela observed, watching the crab Pokemon carefully. "But then again you just caught it so I suppose that's natural. I've got a Zubat just like that." Meanwhile, Houndour was growling and snarling in Corphish's direction. "Okay Houndour, try an ember, see how it likes that," Angela said. She wasn't sure how this battle was going to play out at all. The canine closed back in on its target, flames already leaping up and out of its mouth before expelled them in a small burst towards Corphish, who cried out and flailed her pincers around as the flames licked at her shell. Sure, water-types may take less damage from fire-type moves but that didn't mean it didn't hurt!
"Okay, now use bubble," Riza grumbled, shaking her head in annoyance. Corphish nodded and held up her outstretched claw, sending another volley of shiny blue bubbles headed towards the houndour. This time it didn't have much time to react after having just attacked and it took a direct hit, yelping as the watery spheres burst against its body. Riza never would have guessed that bubbles could be so damaging.

Tyra and Hunter walked the city streets of Olivine slowly. They let their eyes wander around seeing if anything would catch it. Nothing really stuck out in this city Tyra mused to herself. She had her shades down around her eyes, thankful that the bruises weren’t able to be seen anymore, however around them were still tender. She shook her head gently as her mind replayed the fight...Freya jumped into it so quickly once her bearings were gathered.
Hunter at her side padded along calmly her tongue lolling out on occasion due to the peaceful and not at all threatening stroll. True the houndour wasn’t at all used to the peaceful moments. All of Hunter’s life, time with Tyra wasn’t a walk in the park. Tyra caused more fights as a human than a pokemon battle, though neither the girl would turn from. you should run ahead, get her to play the thought entered Hunter’s mind and for a moment she thought it was the best idea ever.
Tyra’s eyes were caught in a shop that sold accessories, for a pair of studded gloves caught her attention. Unknowingly between her legs Jiro stood with a smirk. Hunter circled Tyra once barked playfully and ran forward in a playful manner. The action too Tyra off guard, Hunter only played with Karrigan’s and Izzy’s pokemon, never on her own.
“HUNTER!” She called out and stood her ground. It wasn’t play time. Guess I’m going to have to play more with you eh girl.
Hunter skidded to a halt and turned around to see Jiro leaning against Tyra’s legs. Hunter hung her head slightly as she solemnly walked back to her trainer’s side. As her tail got mentally pulled she held in the cry she wanted to make. Tyra looked down and noticed the ralts and picked up the smaller pokemon.
“Fine stay out of your ball for now. Let’s just get out of town. Nothing’s here” Tyra muttered to her travel companions as she passed by the gym she noticed the type of steel right away, behind her eye shields a smile played within them.
Holding onto Jiro as they exited Olivine Tyra noticed the woods right away and thought of her home town Eterna City. After clearing city limits Tyra pulled out some food for all the pokemon and release Freya. The machop bounced from one foot to the other excited to be out and hit a fighter stance. Tyra pointed to the food signifying that food would be first before any sparring. After each of them had something to eat Hunter lied down knowing the drill. Jiro curled up next to Hunter and watched as his trainer and Freya took their stances.

With her two other pokemon seemingly resting peacefully together, Tyra felt confident to start sparring. Tyra worried slightly over how Jiro and Hunter would be. She wondered slightly how long it would last.
Tyra had waited to see if Freya would make the first move. With the only movement being the bouncing from foot from the machop, Tyra started to advance.
The two knew each other fairly well now, and their sparring was more of a dance for them. The moves were simple at first: low punches and kicks, blocks and dodges. Tyra knew after ten minutes of this, that both of them needed actual training. Something to make them think, and react. Freya continued to jump from foot to foot as Tyra calculated a few different moves.
They got into a usual punch-block combination when Tyra ducked and did a sweeping kick. Freya not expecting it but feeling Tyra’s boots against her ankle fell backwards, putting a hand out to land on it and push herself back up to face her trainer. A smile spread across the machop’s face that was pure pleasure, it meant the rules had change. Freya came bouncing back and swiftly kicked her leg out catching Tyra in the left shoulder. Tyra felt the foot like a boulder got shot there, she twirled and got down to her knees. With Freya being smaller, some of the moves were harder to execute. She wrapped her arms around the pokemon and lifted her up and brought her down to the ground.
The two rolled in the soft grass trying to gain the upper advantage. Freya gained it first but it didn’t last as Tyra brought up one leg to assist pushing herself up and roll the two of them again. With her having the advantage she pushed herself off of Freya and jumped back so the machop could stand up and start again.
Tyra could feel the sweat on her brow and body. She was actually getting a workout with this and couldn’t be happier about it. Finally they were actually training and not just having fun. Both trainer and pokemon did enjoy their sparring matches but to actually have to react and think about their next moves was different and exciting. She kept her sunglasses on, but removed her jacket and tossed it towards her other friends.
At this time Hunter had rolled over and exposed her belly as Jiro curled up against it both enjoying the sun beating down on them.

Angela frowned as she watched her poor Houndour get pelted by more bubbles and she shook her head. 'That Corphish is relentless. I don't think we can come out on top of this unless...' Angela straightened up and pointed at the little red crab Pokemon. "Okay Houndour, now let's use smog! They can't hit us if they can't see us!" She clapped her hands sharply and the canine's ears perked up. Yeah, he could do a smog! Though it took some effort for him to stop snarling long enough to do the attack, the canine took a deep breath before he sent a thick cloud of noxious green gas over the area.
"Ugh, no not smog," Riza grumbled, pinching her nose. It stunk pretty horribly but for once Riza wasn't thinking about that. "Don't breathe in, Corphish!" she shouted, her voice sounding very nasally due to the fact that she was holding her nose. "You could get poisoned! Be careful out there!" Corphish could only blink as the fumes settled around all over her, and though she technically could hold her breath for quite some time, being a water-type and all, she could feel the gases seeping into her body through the gaps in her shell. A sickly feeling came over her as well as the sudden need to lie down, but she wouldn't give in to it. There was no way she'd lose to a pup like that! "Use harden to protect yourself," Riza commanded, hoping that Corphish would have the good sense to obey her this time. Though unseen through the smog cloud, corphish nodded and made her shell even harder than before, certain the houndour was going to run in and try to bite her again at any moment. * * * * * "Okay, there's no sense in hanging around this place anymore," Katie mumbled to herself as she continued to hug the ugly grey blanket that kept her yellow and black-spotted egg to her chest. The blanket itself was unnecessarily large and burdensome and Katie knew it would drive her mad if she had to lug it around like that. Meanwhile, Noa was doing everything in her power to start a fight with Genki, and the usually mild-mannered Chimchar was finally starting to lose his patience with the oddly coloured starly. The two were now glaring and growling sharply at each other, much to the dismay of the other people in the pokecenter. Katie sighed. "Okay you two let's take it outside. It's obvious you're not going to get along so if you're going to fight, you can do it where you're not going to disturb others." Her tone of voice was harsh and both Pokemon recoiled slightly. "Glad you understand," the orange haired girl said, somehow grabbing her bag along with the rest of her things before she and her two badly behaving Pokemon headed outside.
Katie sat down at a picnic table, placing her bag next to her and the bundled blanket in front of her. Not only was it awkward to carry, but it also made Katie feel very warm. "There's gotta be a better way to do this," she murmured, reaching into her bag and pulling out her sketch book as well as her sewing kit. Perhaps she could create some kind of egg carrier that could not only make carrying the egg easier, but also help to keep it quite warm. Katie looked over at Genki and Noa, who were still growling angrily at each other. "You two can work off some of that excess energy," she told them. "But try not to kill each other, all right? We may be right near the pokecenter but I don't need to be rushing you two to the emergency room." Genki nodded, knowing that he should behave for Katie's sake, but at the same time he really wanted to show that obnoxious bird a thing or two. Noa simply clicked her beak in reply, really wanting to show Genki that she was stronger than he was. And just like that, the two were jumping at each other, flames and feathers flying.

Before Dante even got the chance to go and ask someone a woman latched onto his arm and snuggled up pretty close to him. The auburn haired young man just stared down at her stared down at her owlishly for a few seconds before he tried to push her off. "Um, excuse me Miss is there anything I can do to help you?" He asked in a strained voice as he pushed a little harder to get her off of him.
"Oh darling I am so glad you are here! I need you to protect me! My ogre of an ex is coming. Your a trainer fight him off!" She cooed before leaning up into Dante's ear and whispering harshly. "If you don't I will scream rape!"
Glancing over Dante's normally calm face had to changed to one of mild panic and irritation. "Fine fine! Leave me alone after this though. Besides I don't know if I can win anyway." He hissed at her. Just then a large man appeared with an angry look on his face as he came stomping over to them.
"You had that powerful looking Pidgeot! Of course you can win! He likes fighting types!" She hissed back at him.
"That Pidgeot isn't mine! I borrowed it so I could fly here!"
"What!?"
"To late!"
"Maxine! You are leaving me for this little twerp! He looks almost like a little girl!" The large man roared.
"Listen Greg honey you just are to much of an ogre for me to spend anymore time with. All you care about is battles and making your pokemon stronger. There is no way I would continue going out with you." Maxine shot from Dante's side.
While the two fought Dante couldn't help but look up at the large man. He had thought he was pretty tall but this man was huge! He was like a giant and Dante really did not want to get crushed by him, Dante was pretty sure his arm was thicker then his whole body! Dante knew he was pretty lucky when it came to battles but he sure as hell wasn't in one now and that probably meant he would be taking a trip the the hospital pretty soon. Listening into the yelling between the two couples Dante thanked Ho-Oh that the conversation had turned into the subject of pokemon battles.
"Yeah if you are so tough of a trainer why do you not have any gym badges! Even the simplest of gyms defeat you! Why? Because anyone with half a brain can beat you!"
"That's not true! All those gym leaders have cheated! There is no way they could have defeated my invincible pokemon!"
"Oh please my new boyfriend could beat you!"
"Oh yeah! Well lets see him try!"
"Don't worry he will beat you!"
"Fine then! A three on three battle lets go Poliwhirl!" The large man apparently named Greg if Dante had caught the right name amidst all the yelling, tossed out a pokemon. Out of it popped a huge looking Poliwhirl. Its large muscles rippled in the fading sunlight as it flexed doing its best job to intimidate Dante.
"I hate you so much." Dante whispered as he reached for Turn A's pokeball. He just hoped that his poor Porygon didn't get hit by any fighting moves.
"Don't worry, like I said before anyone could beat him. His Poliwhirl isn't a Poliwrath because he can't afford a water stone, same thing with TM's. All it can really do is look big and scary." Maxine whispered back to him.
Now that he took a better look at it the Poliwhirl didn't have any of the typical marks of fighting pokemon. Most fighting pokemon had scars on them or signs of battle, this one just looked really strong, no marks what so ever. It was really just a show pokemon like Maxine said. Just then Dante decided to show this trainer what a real fighting pokemon was like. Putting Turn A's pokeball away he pulled out Hera's instead. Yes this Poliwhirl had a big level difference but it really didn't look like much. Tossing the ball out Hera appeared on the field her shiny blue shell gleaming in the late afternoon light.

"We've got 'em now!" chuckled Angela. "Now get in there and use bite!" The houndour didn't need to be told twice and it quickly dashed into the smog cloud, growling.
"Hold your ground, Corphish!" Riza called. She figured if Corphish was having a hard time seeing, then chances were good that the houndour would as well. "Just try to listen and hit it when you can!" She crossed her fingers, really hoping that Corphish would listen this time around. Corphish raised up her pincers defensively, trying to keep low as the smog seemed to be slowly drifting upwards. She could hear the houndour's vicious snarling growing closer and she narrowed her eyes, wanting to put an end to it. Just then the Houndour burst into view, its teeth finding a c***k in her armor just behind her right shoulder. Corphish clamped her claws shut and swung her left arm around, feeling quite satisfied when she felt her claw slam into the side of the Houndour's head and send it sprawling to the ground with a yelp. She had been intending to use vicegrip when the pup got close, wanting to see it writhe in her hold but that would work. She slowly scuttled over to where the canine lie, clacking her claws loudly, ready to attack if it got back up again. She could feel the poison in her system and she knew that she didn't have much energy left. Deciding that she'd won she carefully scuttled out of the smog cloud, looking up at Riza smugly once she was clear of the haze. "Is that it? We won?" Riza asked somewhat skeptically.
"Oh, houndour," Angela said sadly, now seeing her unconscious Pokemon. "Yeah, you guys won, but not by much," she added, pointing at Corphish.
"What?" Riza asked, looking down at the crab. Corphish blinked a few times and then suddenly toppled over, succumbing to her poisoning. "Heh, I see." She sighed and recalled Corphish as Angela recalled Houndour. "That was a tough fight. It was fun, even though Corphish could use a lesson in obedience."
"She will get better. And stronger, too." Angela smiled and the two girls shook hands. "Next time I battle you, we're going to win," she added, waving as she turned to head inside the pokecenter, politely excusing herself as she went past a few people near the door.
"How do you know there will be a next time?" Riza wondered aloud, deciding that Corphish should get healed as well. She too went towards the pokecenter doors, stopping when she realized Keegan was there, talking to two girls who both seemed to know him. She wanted to say hi but he seemed busy. 'I'll heal corphish then come back out to talk to him.' she thought, her stomach grumbling with hunger. * * * * * "Will those two ever let up?" Katie mumbled, careful to keep an eye on the two Pokemon as she continued to draw in her sketch book, not really sure what she was attempting to design. It was safe to say that Katie had definitely inherited Lena's talent for designing clothing, as well as accessories that not only looked good but were practical too. She had also decided to just let her two Pokemon duke out their differences on their own, as giving them commands might have her accidentally slip up and choose a side, though if she were to, she'd have Genki thunderpunch the overzealous little bird to oblivion and back. Noa had seemingly had a problem with Genki right from the start and though she liked how spunky the bird was, she'd known Genki for two years now and she really didn't want the little upstart have her way.
Genki's flame was burning quite intensely as he waited for Noa to launch the first attack, which he knew she'd do. Screeching something fierce the bird dove into a quick attack and sped towards the Chimchar, fully intending to cause him as much pain as she possibly could. Genki had anticipated something like that for a first move and he was already jumping up into the air as the Starly came at him, and he gracefully hopped over her leap-frog style and landed safely on the ground, grinning impishly. Noa, outraged that her attack had missed quickly turned around in the air and came flying back at her target, this time wanting to land a tackle. Only instead of jumping over her, this time Genki let loose a small burst of flames right into her face, not even caring that her tackle still pushed through and sent the two of them rolling along the ground in a mess of orange and tan. Katie sighed and shook her head, glad no one was watching. It sure was embarrassing.

Walking down the eerie halls of the lighthouse mansion was a welcome change to the broken hills Venerax had spent being lost among the past couple of weeks.
The halls were lighted not by lamps, nor candles, nor lanterns, but strange lightning balls that shone brightly at their cores. The flicking minature bolts that arched and danced against their glass shells gave the eerie walk an even stranger feel. The decorations were of the same quirky taste and style that the lighting suggested. Paintings, murals, statuary, and even pottery lined the halls on display all with an everpresent pokemon motif. No matter how abstract some of them became.
Venerax began to worry he had walked into a misguided madman's castle where he would find franken-pokemon...or at the worst be turned into one himself.
Finally the hall ended and opened to a large foyer. Here the walls were covered in a massive stone mural with images of pokemon carved into its surface. It depicted hundreds of them individually, and there many that Venerax could not even identify. In the midst this impressive and titanic work a dias rose from the floor with stairs leading up to the top of it. There at its pinnacle spread in a semi-circle facing the mural were a set of consoles all lit up. And infront of them a figure intent upon their screens.
The labrat motioned for Venerax to wait there, and mounted the stairs to the top of the dias. He approached the figure and spoke to him quietly. Venerax for his part felt his anxiety crescendo, but maintained the stoic poker face he'd earned and practiced over many years of gambling.

Riza thought it was slightly amusing as she fell into line behind Angela inside the pokecenter and the two girls chatted between themselves until it was Angela's turn to get her Pokemon healed. When she was finished she waved goodbye and Riza handed Corphish's poke ball to the nurse, who smiled and promised she'd take good care of the crab. Riza waited patiently for Corphish's return, wondering who the strange girls were that were talking to Keegan. From what she could tell he didn't seem to be glad to see them, especially the one with the bright pink hair. Corphish's poke ball was returned to her shortly and Riza thanked the nurse before she headed outside, carefully putting the sphere back into its place on her belt.
Riza wasn't sure what they were talking about so she positioned herself so that she wouldn't be in the way as well as not really be able to hear what they were saying. She decided to preoccupy herself by pretending to check her text messages on her phone, even though there weren't any new ones. 'Why hasn't Jaden gotten back to me yet?' she wondered. * * * * * Katie was quite happy with how well her design was coming out so far, at least on paper. Her pencil moved quickly across the sketchpad as she put on the last few details, though she knew that she wouldn't be able to make anything fantastic unless she hit a fabric store. She looked at the frumpy grey blanket again and sighed. It would have to do, since she didn't have the money to squander on luxuries like have decent fabric with colours she could actually work with. The grey wouldn't go with her dress at all, but she would make that sacrifice in order to make carrying the egg she wasn't even sure she truly wanted easier. 'I really hope it's an Elekid,' she thought, thinking back to her school days and the pictures of the powerful Electivire she'd seen in her text books. 'Now that would be something,' she thought dreamily.
The screeching and growling coming from her still brawling Chimchar and Starly made her look up from her work and she glared sharply at the two of them. "Okay you two, cut that out right now!" she shouted, though this time they both were ignoring her. "Genki! You should know better!" again the two Pokemon were ignoring her, and instead Noa tried to bash Genki over the head with a wing attack. Genki ducked that and attempted to tear into the bird with a fury swipes but both were too riled up to even come close to hitting each other. Finally Genki jumped up and punched the smaller bird in the chest with an electrified fist and Noa went down, crashing hard onto the grass. 'Finally, it's over,' Katie thought, setting her book down and making sure the egg was safe before she stood up. Genki was breathing heavily but still looked quite angry, and Noa wasn't moving. Just as the Chimchar began to let his guard down, the tiny bird shot up into the sky with a sudden burst of speed, screeching loudly before she arched around and began a rapid dive towards the easy to see orange target. She was determined to show Genki who was the strongest, and she would make this one count! She could feel a surge of adrenaline shoot through her whole body, and suddenly she was enveloped in a white light, and she could feel herself growing bigger and stronger. Genki could only watch frozen with fear as now, instead of being tackled by a tiny starly, he was about to be railroaded by a Staravia.

"You can't even -- uggghhhh! -- take care of a dumb bird, Dumbo?!" Daemyn half yelped after taking a nasty Slash from the Zangoose. This thing was brutal up close! He would have preferred to take the battle with long-range attacks, but at the time he was trying to help that stupidly helpless teammate of his. Things weren't looking good, though. If Tora collapsed on the other side, he'd be stuck with two opponents, and as easy as the bird was this Zangoose was not an easy one for him, what with it's crazy attack power.
M.A. cringed with a grimace every time she saw her two Pokemon take a heavy blow. She glanced down at Diego to see what he was planning exactly, but as a jealously secretive artist he refused to let her see what he was doing until he was done. The painter was obviously lethargic, however, and M.A. had to nudge him a couple times to wake him up from a sudden nap. "Please," M.A. murmured gently, casting a wary eye towards Ulani and the egg as well as Tora flying into the warehouse wall.
There had to be something she could do turn things around! M.A.'s scattered little brain whirled like ten miniature hamsters going every direction on one wheel. "Daemyn, Tora -- Go and, go and, g-g-go and collide!" she shouted, half-coherently. Diego sighed; what a spaz. What was colliding supposed to do? If she had a plan, how could anyone understand --
Oh, he took it back. Daemyn apparently did; Diego wondered if it was because the dog was just as retarded or somehow knew M.A. that well. In any case Tora was simple-minded enough to listen and go on to try ramming into Diego, Skarmory in hot Pursuit. Daemyn smirked and sprinted towards the elephant, Zangoose likewise in Pursuit. The Pokemon thief raised a brow. What was she trying to do? Was she trying to get them all to collide in some kamikaze move? That wouldn't do, you know; Skarmory was airborne and could pull out at any time (that's what she thought), while Zangoose could just maneuver over a car wreck easily.
Tora was starting to get a little scared. Daemyn was five yards away, two yards, three feet (well an estimate, since she didn't really know distance terms, y'know). What was happening, what was happening -- shouldn't she stop? Daemyn saw her slowing down, though, and barked angrily, "Stupid elephant! Dumbass fatty! I bet you can't even tell your nose from your a**s!"
Tora roared angrily, and charged in a Take Down. Predictable, Daemyn grinned. The Houndoom was just about to get pulverized when he suddenly hopped onto Tora's back like a little ramp and hopped onto the startled Skarmory's back; the Zangoose was not expecting to see a raging Donphan inches away, and since he was in Pursuit, he was even more vulnerable. The poor Zangoose was made the scapegoat of Donphan's rage, and the Skarmory soon was a burning chicken of melted steel crashing into the ground.
A black van screeched to a halt nearby the Pokemon thief, and he hopped on with his black duffel and the Ulani/egg package before recalling his smoked Pokemon. "Too bad!" he sneered before the van screeched off, sending dust flying everywhere.
"ULANIIIIIII!" Daemyn roared into the sky, furious to a whole new level. M.A. was in shock, couldn't say anything; did they really just... lose Ulani? And Maxine's egg? That didn't sound fair, didn't sound right... Impossible. "ULANIIII!" Tora likewise trumpeted, a little slow on the catch but equally anguished.
"What, I'm right here," came a familiarly perky chirp. There was Ulani, picking off some duct-tape from her wings while Diego sat himself on the egg, balancing there. The artist smiled groggily.
M.A. gave out a cry and nearly cried herself, being the teary type, as she crushed Ulani, Diego, and the egg in her scrawny embrace. Tora tried to join the group hug as well, only managed to severely bruise Mary-Anne and break up the congregation; Daemyn somehow tossed the heavy elephant with his horns in retaliation; "Dumb elephant," he muttered to himself. Ulani left the egg to Diego for now before landing on the canine's head, purring like a kitten as she nestled there. Daemyn growled but was very poor at concealing his wolfish grin. "You cause too much damn trouble, I hope you know."

Ah, this was more like it! The proudly evolved Staravia let loose an intimidating cry as her wings collided heavily with their intended target, and all Genki could do was yelp in pain as he was sent tumbling head over flame about ten feet back. "Genki!" Katie cried fearfully, looking from the battered Chimchar back to Noa, hardly able to believe that the pesky little Starly had evolved. But as it sunk in, Katie realized exactly why Noa had evolved, for no reason other than to be stronger than Genki. So she could win. "Oh that is just ridiculous," the girl mumbled, shaking her head. Did their rivalry know no end?
"Now will you stop?" Katie asked, looking up at the Staravia as she flew circles above their heads, crowing at the top of her voice. Genki meanwhile, had picked himself up and was glaring up at Noa, angrier than he could ever remember being in his entire life. The Chimchar let out an enraged roar and he started to beat on his chest savagely, the flame on his butt suddenly raging wildly out of control. Upon seeing this Katie grew quiet, having never seen Genki lose it like this before. However, she wasn't surprised at all as the chimp's rage suddenly peaked and an intense light caused his body to glow like a thousand fireflies all at once. Katie witnessed her second evolution in as many minutes and again she shook her head in disbelief. "Not you too..." she sighed, watching as the newly evolved Monferno agilely and effortlessly launched himself into the air, driving a mach punch into the side of the cheeky Staravia's head.
And just like that, the two were at it again. Katie sighed and sat back down at the picnic table, casting a wary glance to the egg nestled safely in the blankets. Even though she was loathe to think of what could be hiding under that pale yellow shell, she was quite glad that the unborn baby Pokemon was not witness to the awful fighting its future teammates were up to. "You two better mellow out by the time this egg hatches," Katie mumbled, still amazed that her two Pokemon would evolve within moments of each other for no reason other than to fight each other.
