stare I hate car shopping...
My husband wants a car that is 2000 or later, for under $3k. The deals are out there, but I am the one left to find them. I wish he would loosen his belt and do $4k, we would have a great car by now, but he just doesn't want to. I bet he would if he was the one who had to shop the Craigslist and local forums, and make the phone-calls. neutral
Cash for Clunkers was of the devil.... gonk

Cash for clunkers was such a scam... I gurantee there were pricks bringing in Hummers and getting a s**t ton of cash from it... Then the people who actually need the money get screwed over...
I'm still looking for a truck too... I can't find anything that I need for under $10k. I need a 4 door with 4WD. That's about it, but nope. Can't find anything...

There were allot of really great cars that got scrapped, and so many that should of got scrapped were left out of the deal. That shot up the price of used vehicles too much. I am looking for something from around 1999-2001 and what I find is that we might as well buy new and make payments, which is something we are trying to avoid...
I AM NOT PAYING $9K for a 10 year old vehicle! I would rather spend $3K more for something brand new!
We got our tax refund back, and we could use it all (6k) but my husband refuses, and I really would rather not. He only wants to use half for a vehicle, and the other half for some of the things we need to take care of around the house, but I am tired of looking. Every time I find something that would fall within our specs, it's already been spoken for. What I can do from the house is pretty limited. I am so frustrated right now. mad
I might hijack my brother tomorrow to be my chauffeur.

Ugh my mom and stepdad got into little bickers about a car they were thinking to buy (and bought). Mom wanted to get the chevy equinox (which we got) but Jon (stepdad) wanted a minivan or a full-on SUV. Turns out the chevy gets better mileage and fits all of us better for almost half the price of the van Jon was looking at. Some new cars are actually cheaper in the long run than used ones. I made a little chart (nerdy, but it works) and compared a 2007 chevy cobalt bought new to a 1998 ford mid-sized car (can't remember the name O.o ) bought used and even though the up-front price is a bit more for the cobalt, the ford cost more money overall in gas and oil/tire needs.
Wow, really long, but I hope it kinda helps. sweatdrop

shandrel lol i suddenly feel very lucky, no one really calls to check up on the baby, mainly cause everyone knows if there WAS something wrong, i would be calling them lol i promise not to send you pm's every day begging for updates Aakosir razz heheh... I take it then I've done good in containing my personal excitement? whee you know how much I love kids. ScarletFrost So I made a new banner for my guild. What do you think? And yes, I am shamelessly plugging my guild here. mrgreen gyaaah!!! shiny!!!! @-@ I love it! mrgreen 3nodding Eltanin Sadachbia I do like that banner! And it's my 10th wedding anniversary today! heart Dave got me a sweet tablet. It's bigger than I expected and came with a really impressive software bundle as well. Adobe Elements and Corel Painter are the 2 top, i haven't really inspected the others much yet. I am giggy. Happy Anniversary! ^.^ heart erinnightwalker I have a person who will randomly call me for no reason. I have no ******** clue who it is. So, he calls me a few days ago, and the conversation goes something like this. Shitdick- Hey, what you doin'? Me- Who is this? Shitdick- Its me, what you doin'? Me- ....I'm a little busy right now. Shitdick- What you doin'? Me- I'm ******** my dog in the a**. *click* I hung up. 30 seconds later.... Shitdick- Are you really ******** your dog in the a** right now?! Me- Why yes, yes I am. *click* I hung up again. And when he called back the third time, I didn't answer. ~sighs~ The intelligence of perverts has really gone downhill.... on the one hand, for good or ill, it proved his intentions. xp sorry that you had to deal with an idiot who couldn't take a hint.

Catharia Things are pretty freaky here at the moment...we're all on edge. sad Nothing like this has happened to us since Napier, or Erebus. Wow. That's really bad. I wouldn't have heard about this since I don't watch the news. But tell me the world is not changing? Ha...
There are a lot of newer cars that are less expensive and are very good. Crossovers are turning out to be great, but I'm stil iffy with Hyndai and Kia. Vans and SUV's are gas guzzlers. My 6 cylender truck gets about 18 to 20 mpg, if I am lucky. And now there are affordable cars that are getting 35 mpg highway. My mom has an '09 Scion XB. She got it for around 18k and it's doing amazing for her gas money. Plus, it only takes about $40 to fill it from below empty.

Wow, really long, but I hope it kinda helps. sweatdrop Was the Ford comparison a Taurus? Anyway, I have found an '03 Chevy Malibu for $3000. I am going to go check it out tomorrow. I also found a really clean '02 Dodge Durango for $3500 that is attracting me, if only because I feel better sitting up off of the ground. I really don't think I want to deal with the gas MPG though. We usually start getting floods and deep mud about this time of year, and cars aren't very capable of getting out when you need to. I was kinda hoping to find a basic 6 cylinder SUV, and if I was really REALLY lucky, something with 4WD, but it's gonna take a miracle to happen on the budget I have been given.
