Indeed, I must say I'm a bit concerned for the structure of the guild. One of two prefects has been "on sabbatical" for my whole time as a student and the other hasn't been seen for some time.
I also haven't seen our head of house.
House points haven't been updated for some time (I even entered the Limerick contest!)
I really think that those who are active should be the ones able to have higher positions and keep the guild going... you kind of have to be present for that to work =/
Kineka- That was the thing that frustrated me the most when I was still in university was that I didn't have time to read for fun. I love going to bookstores and getting a stack of things I can't possibly get through at the cafe (and it is so hard to walk out with 0-2 things depending on my budget).

Meatball: Yeah, I was wondering about her...how can you be "on sabbatical" for that long? I remember going to check which House I got sorted into, and she was "on sabbatical" then too. I think it might just be an excuse to not have to post. But, I can't say anything, I don't know her personal life.
But I remember...someone on here said I would be good as a Prefect because I'm good at welcoming new people. Now I feel bad because I wasn't on enough. But, we don't seem to have gotten a lot of new people, at least ones that post, so now I'm okay =).
But I'm kind of surprised that Minerva hasn't been on. She used to be on all the time when I was on my posting streak. But, maybe something came up, we don't know what's going on.
Aw, I'm sorry you didn't get your points ='(, but wasn't the Limerick contest in March? I was kind of wondering how the houses can only have 5 - 10 points when the term's close to being over (I think).
Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe once you get to a certain year, you should be able to update and organize your own things, like moving up a year or your own points you've gotten. I realize that sometimes the Head of House and Prefects will have to approve some things, but they're not here to approve them, are they? We should take some action ourselves.
Oh, I know, I always try to read in my free time, but when I get home, I either have mountains of homework or I'm just exhausted from the day and wanna do something relaxing, like watch TV or something. Sometimes reading is too much thinking for me, even though I love it. But I have a 5 shelf bookcase, 4 shelves of which are full, and most of the books I haven't even read yet. Plus I get coupons from Borders through email and my mom sees that as an advantage and always takes me to Borders to buy a book so I can use the coupon before it expires (they normally expire in 2 - 3 days). But now summer is here and I don't have to think about homework, so I can read a lot more. I even alphabatized my books by the last name of the author, so I'm officially a nerd =). But I'm only on the B's and I have books all the way down to Y (with The Shack by Willam Young) and will eventually have The Book Thief by Mark Zusak. But I'm trying to get books that I'll read sooner or that'll finish a series, like Percy Jackson. I only have the first 4, but it's by Rick Riordan, so I won't read those for some time. I don't wanna get a book that I won't read for a while...
Haha sorry I'm ranting about books. They're my favorite subject =).

I agree with both of you (meatball and Kineka). I mean, once the school year started, most of the Ravenclaws didn't come on very often except for me and a couple of others. And since we're the active ones, I think it'd be nice to be rewarded for being active and keeping this guild alive.
Kineka: I have loads of books at my house. I have a book shelf at home that only holds probably 1/10th of my books. The rest are packed away in boxes because we don't have a lot of room in my house to store books, and I have a small bookshelf in my room that I keep my favorite books on like Harry Potter and Eragon among others. But I don't alphabetize my books...that would probably take me all summer to do. Right now I have a reading list that I hope to make some progress on, but I don't think I really will this summer because I've already read a bunch of books that aren't on that list and my goal this summer was to read books that are only on my list, and if I find a book that I want to read, put in on my list and check it out of the library later. But that's not exactly working. I love the Percy Jackson series. I own all five. I went out like, the day after book 5 came out and bought it so I could own the whole series. And I just checked out Rick Riordan's other book, The Red Pyramid, from the library a couple days ago.
Yeah...I'm rambling about books too (one my favorite subjects to talk about) so I'll move on to another subject.
On a really random note, I survived my first week marching band. Last week was the first week of marching band because we had to practice for the Father's Day parade. I don't actually play an instrument, I'm just in Colorguard (the flag people) because the opened colorguard to anyone in my school with dance/music experience. So I decided to do it since I've been dancing for over 11 years. We had to learn two routines-Tear the Roof (full name Tear the Roof Off the Sucker) and Battle Hymn. We only did Tear the Roof in the parade because we didn't have enough time to perfect Battle Hymn. But I was glad because it was exhausting enough doing one routine for the parade. I can't wait to start learning the field show in August...woohoo...marching band everyday for three weeks before school starts.

Jedi: Yeah, that's exactly what I mean! I don't really mean giving ourselves points, because not a lot of people are very modest and would give themselves more points than they deserve, but just counting the points that we all have, updating it in the main thread, moving ourselves up a year, managing contests, etc. What's the point of not letting us do that when the people that CAN do it might as well be confirmed as missing in action?
Well, apparently I don't have as many books as you do because it maybe took me twenty minutes to alphabetize my bookshelf. I have two 5 shelf bookcases, but one of them isn't really used for books. But the one that is is doubled up and is down to the bottom shelf already. But most of those books I haven't read yet, so that's kind of sad. Oh, haha. I kind of have the habit of adding books to my list without reading the ones I have first...I think my mom's getting annoyed...haha. As for Percy Jackson, I'm waiting until The Last Olympian comes out in Paperback. By the time I get to reading them, it should be out in Paperback, so it won't be so expensive.
Ooh, that's great! I don't think I could do marching band, I can't stay in formation with everyone else for 3+ miles. -starts randomly humming Battle Hymn-. Ahaha I love that song. I bet it was exhausting. How long was the parade, like distance wise, and how many times did you have to repeat the dance? Haha have fun!
Woop woop for thunderstorms and tornadoes last night! And more tonight and tomorrow around 7 am. Ya know, there is a such thing as too much water...ugh, we had so much rain, big lightning, and thunder last night, it was hard for me to sleep. And normally thunderstorms and rain help me sleep. I was up watching the storm on the news until about 11 when it just kind of stopped...haha. Sorry, rambling...we've had so many storms lately, it's a miracle that our plants aren't bursting from being overwatered...

Kineka: We did Tear the Roof and Battle Hymn so many times. Usually the parade only takes about 15-20 minutes to go through the whole route, but it took about 45 minutes because floats in front of us kept on stopping, and it didn't help that we were at the very end of the parade. So by the time we got to the end of the parade route, everyone was dripping sweat and I could barely breathe. I didn't realize how much colorguard could take out of you. Oh well. At least for the next parade we do, it'll be a lot cooler out.
We had a thunderstorm last night, but it was nice short one because it was done by the time I went to bed at like, 1:00 am last night.
I think it'd be nice if we could organize things like contests and such because it has been so inactive around here, and that might be a reason why. I mean, the limerick contest was for St. Patty's day, and it was supposed to be done and judged like, 3 months ago. I realize that people get busy with school and their muggle life and everything, I totally get that, because that happens to me sometimes. But it's so inactive around here, it's sort of sad.

Wow, that seems like a really short parade...I know a girl who Irish Dances in the St. Patty's day parade, and she says it takes over an hour to go through the whole thing, especially because, periodically, her dance group has to stop and perform for the people in front of them. Oh, yuck, I'm sorry it was warm out =(. Yeah, my grandma did colorguard for the 4th of July parade and she couldn't even get through it all because it was so warm and she was so worn out. People don't realize that flipping flags around for 20 minutes can take a lot out of you. When's the next parade?
So, I'm guessing if it was a short one, it started at like...12:55 pm? xD Lol. Ours took a little bit, it was from about 9 to 11, when I went to bed, it finally wasn't raining at all. But we're supposed to get more tonight with more severeness, but it's supposed to be later in the night and into tomorrow morning around 7 am.
Yeah. I mean, if the people want to do contests, they should be around when they're going on and when they should be judging them. I wanted to enter the limerick contest, but I realized it was supposed to be done 3 months ago and I didn't even try. I know sometimes life can get really busy and stressful, but some of these people are crew members, aren't they? I think if they wanted to become crew members, they should realize that they should be here on a regular basis. Yeah, after I posted on the 12th, I kept looking back to see if anyone did anything new, and ya know how many new posts there were that weren't mine? 5, if I remember correctly. That is beyond sad. Maybe we should pool our gold and start our own HP club =).

Kineka: Our next parade is the homecoming parade. No idea when that will be because I don't know when homecoming is.
Last night we got a really severe storm while I was eating dinner and then our power went out and the power company said that our power probably won't come back on until Saturday. So I decided to crash at a friend's house then I'm going out of town to a place that has air conditioning and electricity smile
HI!!!! It's me, the friend whose house she's crashing at!!!! And she is completely hogging my laptop to write this post, so be happy about it!!!!!! Goodbye people I don't know!!!!!!!!!!

Hm...no offense, but I think that's kind of sad that you don't know when homecoming is. But, either way, have fun! =)
Nice. Lucky for you that you're allowed to crash at a friend's house when the power goes out. I'm not allowed to, my parents just say I have to deal with it until it comes back on.
Hi Jedi's friend =) -waves-. I'm really not as weird as some people think I am, haha. Okay, maybe I am...=P.

I'm a book loving, book hoarding monster, too. I have six standard bookshelves full of books, four smaller sized nightstand ish sized shelves, one for roleplaying books, two for manga, and one for american comics, the whole bottom of the hallway closet of old reference/study books, and a whole cubby nightstand hole of personalish things I've been published in one way or another, and the ohter one of japanese learning books and workbooks.
Not to mention I have boxes full of paperbacks and other books from ages 14 and younger at my mother's house in florida, and when I moved in 5th grade I gave away 95% of my children's books to my best friend who took then to the end of the street and dumped them into the ditch...
I often go to a bookstore with a cafe and find myself with a stack of various things for fun. I also have a large stack of back periodicals AFTER I've weeded out more than half of them... and I always have a reading queue of books right by my bed.
My book of the moment is: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I am enjoying it greatly and plan to pick up Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and I am really really really anticipating Mockingjay, the third of the Hunger Games trilogy. The first two were the most awesome things to rock my socks off for quite some time.
I don't want a 'reward' per se. The limerick contest never officially ended. acciofunds never accepted and there were only two ro three entries at most IF you include mine! I just think we need to have the power to actually... do something. Mayhap we can start a guild with similar structure to this one, and among us we can determine who will be minister of magic, Head of Ravenclaw House, and the two Prefects.

Gah! Heather Brewer left me hanging off a fricken cliff and the next book doesn't come out until September!
Haha, sorry, had to get that out.
ANYWHO! You have way more books than I do, but I probably came close if you count the books I had when I was younger. I sold all of the ones I was sure I'd never read again...which turned out to be a big mistake because I find that I want them back now. Like my Babysitter's Club books and my Ramona Quimby books. Not really because I'd enjoy them profusely now, but more for memories, ya know? And that's horrible what your friend did. She could've sold them to a used bookstore and gotten money from them.
Okay, this may sound like a stupid question, but what do you mean by "back periodicals"? But, I keep track of all my books as well, but it's on my computer, not by my bed on actual paper. Call me a tree hugger, but I don't like using paper for anything that's not school related, when I'm forced to.
Okay, what is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies about? Our book club was reading it last year, but I didn't have time to join at the beginning of the year because I had so much homework. I keep passing it in bookstores, wondering if I should buy it or not. And, I have The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, just waiting to be read...hopefully soon, with how I've been chewing through my books lately. I've been told they're really good, and I'm really excited. But, at the moment, I just finished The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod by Heather Brewer (or well, the ones that are out) and I'm starting Morganville Vampires now. And since they're pretty small books, I'll be able to finish them quickly, and move onto Graceling and Fire, which are next.
AccioFunds isn't responding either? Isn't she the one we're supposed to send everything to? Yes, we do need the power to do something. I mean, we're all intelligent people. Intelligence is power! Well, actually, math is power, but I'm horrible at math, so I didn't want to say that. Mayhap? Woo, there's a new one...anyway, we could just start a Ravenclaw House guild. So it doesn't look like we're completely copying the founders of this guild. I never actually thought you guys would think it would be a good idea to start another guild, and I don't wanna be in the middle of a big war between us and them because it was my suggestion... sweatdrop .

I've wanted to read the Hunger Game books for awhile, but my list of books to read is so long, and half the books I'm reading right now this summer aren't even on that list. I've never heard of Heather Brewer. What genre does she write? Right now I'm reading The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. It' really good and it's based off Egyptian mythology which is pretty cool.
Last night I went to see (this is gonna sound dorky) The Last Airbender at midnight. And it was awesome. I really liked it and was glad that they didn't screw it up because (again, this is gonna sound really dorky) I absolutely love the cartoon the movie was based off of-Avatar: The Last Airbender. I went to see the movie with a couple of my friends who also love Avatar: The Last Airbender. Yeah, I know, I'm 16 and I love a show that is meant for 8 year olds...

Yeah, I have a pretty big list too. But, since I get e-coupons, I keep getting more every week. Heather Brewer writes sci-fi/fantasy. They said in the little "About the Author" thing at the end of her books that she danced under full moons and devoured every book in sight. She's not really your average author. She also said that she doesn't believe in happy endings unless they involve blood. The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod is a vampire series for young adults. I've seen The Red Pyramid at Borders, but I'm reluctant to get it because my bookshelf is alphabatized by the last name of the author, and I'm only on the C's right now. It'll take me a bit before I get to the R's, and I don't wanna buy a book that I won't read for a while...and that will come out in paperback by the time I get to it. That's why I'm holding out on buying The Last Olympian because I'm not even close to the R's yet.
Oh, that doesn't sound dorky. I personally don't like that show, but I think it's cool that you do. Just because it's on Nick doesn't mean it's just for kids. I know adults that watch Spongebob. But, was it good? Or do you have to see the show first so you can understand it better?

Kineka: Avatar was awesome. I mean, there were things that they could have improved on, and shouldn't have left out, but anytime you have a movie that's based off a tv show or book then made into a movie, it can always be better. But I really liked it, and so did all my friends that went with. And it is kinda dorky that my friends and I like it that much considering it's a show for elementary schoolers, but I don't really care. You might understand it better if you saw the show first because it does a lot better job of explaining things better, but you can still see it without having seen the show at all and still have a good understanding of it because my mom went with us to the movie and she had never seen the show before, had no idea what it was about and she understood fairly well what was happening.
I think I'll add Heather Brewer books to my list of things to read. Agh...my books to read list is supposed to be getting shorter, not longer...oh well.
And on a super random note, I played tennis yesterday with my friend for the first time in like, 9 months, and I surprised myself by not absolutely sucking, but now I'm really sore because I haven't played in so long.

Jedi: Oh, yeah, I know. They never do the book or TV show justice. On a sort of similar note, I remember seeing The Series of Unfortunate Events movie and thinking "Okay, Klaus is supposed to have glasses, The Marvelous Marriage happens in the first book, not at the end of the third book, and they cut out way too much by squishing the first three books into one movie." But, anyway, I think it's totally cool that you like that show. I know a lot of people in my class that love it, they have marathons of the show on weekends. But, I'm guessing it's like the Harry Potter movies. People understand the basic storyline, they just don't have the luxury of knowing the details and other things they left out from the books.
Haha yes, you should. Bear in mind, it does start out a little...childish, since they start out in 8th grade and go through senior year (in The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, which are the only books she's written that I know of), but don't be turned off by it, it really has a good storyline once you get into it. But, I know what you mean, my booklist is really long as well, and getting longer every day. And it sucks that I haven't been reading much the past week because I've been getting major headaches, and I can't read when I have a headache, and I don't wanna have to resort to drugs every day, that just seems bad for my health. I've been almost done with Glass Houses (the first Morganville Vampires book) for about a week. I just never feel up to reading it...actually, I want to reread Harry Potter and A Series of Unfortunate Events, but they're down farther in my bookshelf because it's Rowling and Snicket.
Ooh, I love tennis! I'm horrible at it, but it's still fun. Kinda like bowling. Aw, I'm sorry you're sore. It'll get better, you just rest.

I've never read the Series of Unfortunate Books. I guess they never struck my interest.
Yeah, whenever they're having an Avatar marathon on TV I always have to go to my friend's house and watch it with her because I don't get the channel that Avatar is on sad And it's like the Harry Potter movies. You understand what's going, but you don't know all the fine details that the movie leaves out but are included in the book that would further your understanding of what's going on.
I've been reading like crazy lately. I guess it's to make up for my lack of reading during the school year because I'm so busy with schoolwork that when I'm finally able to relax, I just want to sit down and watch TV or go on the internet-not read. Over the holiday weekend, I finished The Red Pyramidby Rick Riordan, and Evermore by Alyson Noel. The Red Pyramid was amazing (duh!) and I can't wait for the next book in that series to come out (it's part of The Kane Chronicles). Evermore is part of The Immortals series. I really liked that one. The concept of it and what it's about is really hard to describe unless you've read it, but I really liked it. My friend let me borrow it and she said she liked Evermore, but thought it was pretty creepy, but I didn't think it was that creepy (yeah I'm rambling now) so now I've started the second book in that series, Blue Moon.
I'm not sore anymore because it's been a few days, but on Saturday I played tennis with a couple of my cousins and that was pretty fun.
Today, I went to a friend's house while my brother and parents went to visit a college that he wants to go to in the fall. It'll be weird if he moves out in the fall because he's my only sibling so it'll pretty much be me and my mom because my dad travels a lot. But I guess I'll get used to it.
So how was everyone's Fourth of July (for the Americans)?
