"Okay," Arlen said excitedly. He hadn't been outside since the day Guan had brought him there. He quickly finished his cereal and abandoned the bowl to run towards the door.

She, too, left her bowl on the table and ran outside, laughing.

Ellie came in the back door with her husband, quite happily done shopping for the things he needed, and thankfully not attached to his waist still. As they put things away, she occasionally bumped into his hip, and he returned the playful gestures one way or another. It was a happy, quiet evening in the muffin, as they both retired to the booth that was 'hers' and waited for there to be any patrons.

Sam walked downstairs in a loose white shirt and his old jeans that he came in with. He'd been earning extra money cleaning up and running errands for Tomokazu and he almost had enough money to buy himself some new clothes. Some people were probably disgusted by those jeans by now. He wore them non stop it seemed. He walked behind the bar and poured himself a glass of water.

Vela was sitting at the bar, hair falling like a curtain that framed her face. It was parted just enough that one could see her face from standing right in front of her, but nor for any other way. Napkin in hand, she continually dried the glass of her cold iced tea. This subtly reminded her of why she preferred hot drinks... Seeing Sam, her eyes flickered for a moment, acknowledging his presence.

"Afernoon," Sam replied as if he had been spoken to. He knew this was the way Vela was and felt quite honored to at least be acknowledged. "Would you like anything, miss?" He asked, making sure to be a little more polite to show her that she had earned a little bit of his respect.

Vela looked up, eyes scanning him for a moment. She shook her head briefly, holding up her glass of beverage, before setting it back down and running the napkin over it. "How is your day?" Asked she, though it sounded a bit alien on her tongue to ask a question that really was not a demand of an answer. It came out in an odd tone, as her eyebrows furrowed a bit in confusion, as if she had been possessed for a moment and had bene forced into saying it.

Sam studied her expression a moment before walking over to sit down opposite her. "It's a bit dull, but not too bad. And you?" He asked before taking a sip of his water. He rolled up the sleeves to his shirt to his elbows and stared down at the bartop. River said this was no place to hide his identity and, after meeting everyone there, he was to agree. However... That was a huge step. He'd been Sam almost as long as she had been Sophie.

Vela's aquamarine eyes studied him for a moment, as though he were a piece of gum she'd found on her shoe. "Calm." Said she finally, alto voice refraining from its usual demanding demeanor. Taking a drink of her beverage and wiping down the glass, Vela could practically feel his confused thoughts. "What are you so worked up over?"

Sam looked up into her eyes, for once studying their aquamarine color. They were actually sort of pretty. "I'm trying to decide something." He murmured, wishing River or Caradoc was there. They were the two he really trusted. They would help him decide. "There's someone I've been keeping hidden. I just want to know if it's safe for her to leave her hiding spot."

For a small moment, Vela watched Sam, as if gears were physically turning in her head, but not quite coming to any sort of realization. Shaking the feeling off, she tried to absorb what he had said as coherent words, brain mush for a moment. "Only if they are safe."

Sam leaned forward against the bar and nodded, "That's what I have to decide. It's my absolute duty to make sure she is safe." He said as if he was some tort of guardian or body guard. He suddenly smiled and sat up strait. "However I have a very good feeling that she will be safe here."

Vela made a small shrug, as she drank the end of her beverage. "I suppose that I would believe so, too. She must be very close to you." The white haired neko-woman rest her hands in her lap. Cat-ears were a sort of degrading feature, in Vela's mind, thus, she remained to appear human. Spare, her incisors, which remained comfortable and quite useful, too.

Sam nodded and smiled. "You could say that." He said, taking a large gulp of water. Since birth... He thought with a small smirk. He stood up and walked to the kitchen, keeping the door open so he could still talk. "I'm hungry. Would you like some salad?" He asked.

"Caeser? If not, no, I would not." Vela responded, long finger dipped down into her glass to play with the ice that still resided there. Her face was still bored and disinterested, but Vela really was trying to be nicer! Though, it was hard to figure out why, in her own head.
