It depends on the direction too, with a stab.
If you stab BETWEEN the collarbone and clavicle, you're probably going to murder someone, iirc you go straight between those two bones and you're hitting organs pretty quickly.
If you're stabbing ABOVE the clavicle into the trap (the muscle that "connects" into the side of the neck), then that's entirely different and you're pretty much hitting all meat, as far as I know.

Old Man KB The clavicles are those bones that stick out under your neck, horizontal to your shoulder joints if I remember correctly. They're pretty defined, and are the easiest bone to break. Under them is a gap and then the start of the ribcage, judging from what I can feel on myself. Hm. So I'm guessing that in a creature like a cat, that doesn't have a clavicle, there's probably just be excess musculature?

Here's a great-uncle of mine. He was one of the most popular Presidents of Mexico, and just like me, he's known for being a ridiculous manwhore. This guy was my cousin. I met him once at the Zinser-Peterson family reunion down on the family mansion in Mexico.

Cats probably have clavicles, they're probably just... different. Google it. A lot of animals have similarly named bones or functioning bones with different names or different shapes from a human being. It shouldn't be hard to find a cat's skeleton on the internet with the bones appropriately labeled.
